The LAST QUARTER MOON occurs on Saturday, June 17, 2017, at 7:33 AM EDT.
On Saturday morning, the Last Quarter Moon is exact, when the Sun in Gemini forms a square with the Moon in Pisces. The Last Quarter Moon phase points to some sort of crisis of consciousness. After basking in the awareness symbolized by the full light of the Moon at the time of last week’s Full Moon, we disperse our knowledge and come to a point when we need to sort out what works for us–and what doesn’t–in preparation for next week’s New Moon, when something new is born once again. This is not the best time to start a major project, as the decreasing light of the Moon symbolizes a descent into unconsciousness. It’s time to begin finishing up the details of that which was conceived at the last New Moon. What revelations did you have last week? What did they mean for you? What can be done now?
This phase of the Moon occurs at 26 degrees and 28 minutes of Pisces forming a square to the Sun at 26 degrees and 28 minutes Gemini, affecting people born with personal planets and points at approximately 24 to 28 degrees of the Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces) most significantly.
The FULL MOON occurred on Friday, June 9, 2017, at 9:11 AM EDT.
On Friday morning, a Full Moon occurred when the Gemini Sun opposed the Moon in Sagittarius. The Full Moon is a time of culmination and the promise of fulfillment of that which was started at the New Moon approximately two weeks ago. It is an emotional time—a time of romance, fertilization, and relationships.
The Gemini-Sagittarius polarity is a mental axis, where Gemini represents the “lower mind” and Sagittarius represents the “higher mind”. The Gemini Sun encourages us to think logically, while the Sagittarius Moon persuades us to intuit and to think in a broader manner. Sagittarius symbolizes the quest for meaning and ideas that expand upon the “here and now.” Gemini is quite comfortable in his or her immediate environment or neighborhood, while Sagittarius stimulates us to venture beyond it. Neglecting either end of the axis will surely backfire on us. Ideally, a balance should be found between the two energies, and this is what the Full Moon invites us to do.
This Full Moon is about communication, attitude, and our sense of adventure. Something has been building inside of us, and now is the time when the energy of the cosmos fairly demands that we let it out. Over the next two weeks, we will discover what this means for us. For now, we can’t sit on our feelings. We need to express them.
The lunation illuminates this conflict between logic and intuition/faith. With the Moon full and bright in the sky, symbolic “illumination” occurs in our own lives. However, these new feelings and revelations are emotional ones, as there is a sense of emotions bursting forth into our consciousness. It’s time to express ourselves and to let things out of our systems. Of course, we might want to exercise some care while doing so, knowing that what is coming out of us is fresh, unrefined, and not particularly rational as yet.
This Full Moon forms a square with Neptune, and revelations now might lead to a detour from our goals. We should watch for misinformation. This is a time for opening ourselves up to possibilities, but finalizing plans should probably be saved for a later date. The Sun is at the midpoint of Mercury and Mars and trine to Jupiter, pointing to a real desire to understand or master a situation, but the square to Neptune and opposition to Saturn point to a possible block, obstacle, or to incomplete information or lack of readiness. Watch for too-quick decisions, but do pay close attention to what’s illuminated now.
This phase of the Moon occurred at 18 degrees and 53 minutes of Sagittarius opposite the Sun at 18 degrees and 53 minutes of Gemini, affecting people born with personal planets and points at approximately 15 to 23 degrees of the Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces) most significantly.

(Times are Eastern)
The Sun is in Gemini; Mercury is in Gemini; Venus is in Taurus; Mars is in Cancer.
The Sun is in Gemini from May 20-June 21. Knowledge and diversity motivate us with the Sun in Gemini. We are more sociable, intellectual, and insatiably curious under this influence. We tend to scatter our energies as a result of this curiosity and awareness of all of our options. We are more communicative and versatile, but we can also be unreliable.
Mercury is in Gemini from June 6-21. When Mercury is in Gemini, we are especially communicative, curious, and sociable. Mercury feels right at home in Gemini, one of the signs that it rules. We tend to take more pleasure in gaining a superficial knowledge of many subjects rather than dig deep into any one topic. We are especially astute when it comes to arguing or making a point. We are attracted to wordplays, puns, and negotiations. We are easily distracted.
Venus is in Taurus from June 6- July 4. In Taurus, Venus is very sensual (naturally), content, and possessive. We seek security and value that which lasts. Our appetite for pleasure is strong. Taurus values the here and the now as well as the world of the five senses. Tangible and physical expressions of love and romance are most important now. Holding on to someone we love is our tendency under Venus in Taurus. The shadow side of this is excessive possessiveness and treating our partners as objects that we own or want to own. On the financial side, Venus in Taurus looks for high-quality, solid, practical, and long-lasting items. Holding on to our possessions is more likely now.
Mars is in Cancer from June 4-July 20. We pursue our interests ardently, but we avoid a direct approach to going after we want. As well, our goals and plans are subject to mood swings and vacillations. We are defensive rather than overtly aggressive. Much of what we do depends on our mood of the moment.
Saturn transits Sagittarius from December 23, 2014, to June 14, 2015, and then from September 17, 2015, to December 20, 2017. Read about Saturn’s transit through Sagittarius here.
Jupiter entered Libra on September 9th, 2016, and will transit Libra until October 10, 2017. Read about Jupiter in Libra here.
Uranus entered Aries on March 11th, 2011 and will transit Aries until May 15, 2018, and then from November 6, 2018, to March 6, 2019. The urge to start fresh, to break free from restrictive attitudes or circumstances, to totally redesign an area of our lives (or even our personalities), and to gain freedom through independence is strong with Uranus in Aries.
Romance & Relationships
Venus is in Taurus from June 6-July 4. In Taurus, Venus is usually quite content but can be possessive.
This week: Venus in minor challenging aspect to Saturn on Thursday can point to some emotional distancing in relationships or disappointment with predictability or dullness in our interactions.
Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:
Venus in Taurus June 6-July 4. A love of music, an appreciation for sensual pleasures and others of the finer things in life – such are the signs of the cycle which has begun for you. This is aesthetic and artistic to be sure, but it is also practical and materialistic: you develop a keen appreciation for the value of things, including the money it takes to buy them.
Venus sextile Mars June 8-9. This points to success and ease in close personal interactions. We are passionate and sexy. It is a good time for financial ventures, social life, artistic pursuits, romance, and pleasure. We are now able to take the initiative and to achieve harmony and sexual fulfillment. This influence brings satisfaction to the feelings. We may make permanent ties or relationships that prove to be fruitful and fortunate.
Venus sesquiquadrate Saturn June 15. Feelings of isolation, of not getting what we really want, and of not being loved the way we want to be loved can get in the way of pleasant relations with our partners.
Venus quincunx Jupiter June 18-19. A strong desire for the pleasures of life is with us now, although our eyes are often bigger than our stomachs. Troubles in relationships now are likely due to overblown expectations. It can be challenging to find a balance between responsibilities and the desire for self-gratification.
Venus semi-square Chiron June 19. Love cannot be forced. This is not a commitment-friendly transit, as we may feel alienated for no apparent reason and unwilling to give of ourselves.
Venus sextile Neptune June 19-20. Unusual attractions that add imagination, inspiration, and emotional “color” to our lives may occur now. We are attuned to the subtleties of human interaction, and we are more inclined to naturally cooperate with others. An imaginative, romantic time.
The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects. The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here and is indicative of the “outcome” of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology).
Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart for the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass. The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology. The following tables incorporate the modern planets, but some astrologers do not count Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in void Moon calculations.
The Void-of-Course Moon this Week:
Void-of-course Moon on Monday, June 12th, from 2:46 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Uranus), until the Moon enters Aquarius at 7:46 PM EDT.
VOC Moon on Thursday, June 15th, from 1:40 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Uranus), until the Moon enters Pisces at 6:18 AM EDT.
VOC Moon on Saturday, June 17th, from 7:33 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to the Sun), until the Moon enters Aries at 1:55 PM EDT.

Timing with the Moon – Better Periods this Week for Electing New Initiatives
The Moon is waning this week — a period that is generally considered unfavorable for new beginnings, with exceptions. (See Best Time to Start a Business for more details).
According to principles of timing with the Moon, a window of opportunity occurs from Tuesday, June 13th, at approximately 11:10 AM EDT, until Thursday, June 15th, at approximately 1:35 AM EDT, while the Moon is in Aquarius. Keep in mind, however, that the Sun and Saturn are moving to an opposition during this window.

This Week’s Calendar
This Week’s Aspects
Mercury semi-square Uranus. We can have flashes of insight, but tend to be scatterbrained. Our ideas and communications may not be well-received because they don’t seem to others to carry weight. Our minds are not peaceful or harmonious under this influence, and irritable tempers, sarcastic speech, and dogmatism are negative expressions of this energy.
Mercury trine Jupiter. Looking for meaning in mundane affairs, positive thinking, insights, cooperation–these are themes of this influence. Our ideas are big and our intentions noble. We might receive good news or offers now. We prefer to think about the big picture rather than becoming bogged down with details. This transit favors short trips, writing, teaching, studying, submitting applications and forms, accurate diagnoses and observations (all things equal).
Mercury square Neptune. We find it hard to follow facts, directions, and instructions. Difficulties concentrating on hard, cold facts are likely; and we may question facts altogether or avoid being pinned down for answers. This is a bad time for signing on the dotted line. Perceptions are confused, unrealistic, or too idealistic to carry weight in the real world. Conversations may be vague.
Sun opposition Saturn. Our confidence is undermined by feelings of doubt, pessimism, or feelings of guilt. Feeling blocked, encountering obstacles to progress, and inhibitions are prominent under this influence. A heavy dose of realism seems forced upon us under this influence, but our efforts to measure up to expectations can ultimately increase our confidence in our ability to be responsible for ourselves. This influence is a somber one.
Venus sesquiquadrate Saturn. There may be difficulties relating to others under this influence. People may be cool with their affections and emotionally distant. Avoid new financial undertakings, as they may prove to be “money pits” as time passes. There may be anxiety or troubles with regards to matters concerned with the feelings. Romantic disappointments, unrequited love, separations, and broken engagements are the more negative manifestations. We tend to lack social confidence at this time and adopt a shy, formal, or reserved social manner. This transit is best used for reflection.
Mercury quincunx Pluto. Something we write or say could trigger power struggles or hostility from others. We may be plagued with self-doubt in our attempts to make decisions. Decisions made now are unlikely to be objective. Re-assessing decisions we have made already, or adjusting our plans, may be in order. Second-guessing.

JUNE 11
The Moon is in Capricorn all day, forming a square to Jupiter this morning and a conjunction to Pluto tonight. While we may crave more order and predictability in our lives under the influence of a practical Capricorn Moon, outside forces may seem to be stirring the pot. However, some discontent may result from our own ambitions if they are inflated or from too-high expectations. The Moon’s sextile to Neptune can help us to relax and seek out healthy escapes or intuit our next move.
JUNE 12
The Moon continues its transit of Capricorn until 7:46 PM EDT. We seek out some order and structure to our lives, although this may not always be possible today with the Moon forming a square to Uranus this afternoon. It’s better to keep our options open with this transit. We’re moving towards a semi-square between Mercury and Uranus, and we can have flashes of intuition and insight working for us. However, we may be a little too haphazard and imprecise with our thinking and communications. The Moon enters Aquarius at 7:46 PM, and our interest in our social life, new ideas, and progressive change increases.
A void of course Moon occurs from 2:46 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Uranus), until the Moon enters Aquarius at 7:46 PM EDT.
JUNE 13
In the early AM, Mercury forms a minor challenging aspect to Uranus, and we’re inclined to shake up the routine, and we can be mentally excitable. Mercury forms a trine to Jupiter this morning towards midday, and then a square to Neptune tonight. We might think up interesting ways to help others, and we can benefit from partnering up to arrive at interesting decisions or new ideas. Listening and speaking skills are excellent now. We should certainly watch for a tendency to be misled by wishful thinking or to invest in speculative ventures. However, it’s a superb time for stretching our minds to entertain new possibilities and to see opportunities where we may have missed them in the past. We want to attach ourselves to meaningful projects now. Our outlook is particularly hopeful and positive, and we readily cooperate with others. The Aquarius Moon hooks into the trine between Mercury and Jupiter, pointing to an emotional investment in our ideas and interactions. We might receive good news or offers now. As much as we’d like to come to definite conclusions, answers might elude us now, however. While the Mercury-Jupiter influence seeks out truths, the Mercury-Neptune square can tempt us to avoid them.
JUNE 14
The Moon continues its transit of Aquarius all day, harmonizing with the Gemini Sun this evening. We have a strong sense of future trends, and we’re especially interested in helping, teaching, or illuminating others. We are a little detached and especially idealistic with a romantic view of others. However, the Sun is moving towards an opposition to Saturn, exact tomorrow morning, and we might experience a reality check of sorts, likely related to our beliefs, education, knowledge, or legal matters. Feelings of doubt, pessimism, or guilt may undermine our confidence until we make corrections. Feeling blocked, encountering obstacles to progress, and inhibitions are all possible under this influence. While there can be some feelings of a letdown, our efforts to measure up to expectations can ultimately increase confidence in our ability to be responsible for ourselves. Focusing too much on our feelings may not be very productive right now. This is a time for reevaluating goals, taking into better account the limits of time and energy. It can be a good day for developing real solutions to long-term problems and for recognizing the meaning behind recent restrictions or limitations. We might acknowledge the need to adopt a humbler, more mature, and possibly more conservative approach.
JUNE 15
The Moon leaves the sign of Aquarius early today, at 1:40 AM EDT, and then enters Pisces. While the Pisces Moon influence can stimulate a need for escape from the routine, the Sun perfects its opposition to Saturn this morning, and we can be dealing with a reality check. This is a time for making some adjustments and catching up on neglected duties or responsibilities. A Venus-Saturn sesquiquadrate suggests reserved or mature interactions and heightened awareness of the practical side of our relationships. The Moon’s trine to Mars this afternoon supports taking action on our feelings. We are moving towards a quincunx between Mercury and Pluto, exactly early in the AM tomorrow, and we may be doubting or second-guessing our choices. We can have a hard time getting our message across or coming to a definite decision/conclusion, or we trigger negative responses from others. We might have a hard time digesting or accepting certain news or information.
A void of course Moon occurs from 1:40 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Uranus), until the Moon enters Pisces at 6:18 AM EDT.
JUNE 16
This is a time for easing up a little as the Moon spends the day in Pisces and aligns with Pisces’ modern ruler, Neptune, which is stationing today. Neptune is now retrograde and will remain retrograde until November 22nd. The station casts a veil over our affairs, and it can be difficult to see things clearly this week. However, the retrograde cycle itself points to a period of taking in and increased receptiveness, even if we’re putting some of our dreams on hold. It can be a time of indecision or feeling in limbo, but it can also be a period of inner discovery. The Pisces Moon is compassionate and spiritual and a Mercury-Ceres alignment today is good for growing, improving, and nurturing a project.
JUNE 17
The Moon continues its transit of Pisces until 1:55 PM EDT. While this may not be the most productive of days in a material sense, we might arrive at a new understanding of a problem or difficulty and open ourselves up to change and healing with the Moon in Pisces’s alignment with Chiron. This is a time for sharing, learning, healing, helping, and teaching. The Last Quarter Moon occurring today, however, can point to some stress, ideally the kind that motivates us to resolve problems. After basking in the awareness symbolized by the full light of the Moon at the time of last week’s Full Moon, we disperse our knowledge and come to a point when we need to sort out what works for us–and what doesn’t. This is in preparation for next week’s New Moon when something new is born once again. It’s not the best time to start a major project, as the decreasing light of the Moon symbolizes a descent into unconsciousness. It’s time to begin finishing up the details of that which was conceived at the last New Moon. The Moon enters Aries at 1:55 PM, inspiring us to start fresh on an emotional level.
A void of course Moon occurs from 7:33 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to the Sun), until the Moon enters Aries at 1:55 PM EDT.

Moon Signs This Week:
When the Moon is in Capricorn
We become aware of the need for structure and planning ahead. We also instinctively are aware of the limitations of time. We are motivated by a desire for success. Achievement and manifestation are most important to us now. We are resourceful and don't want to waste time, energy, or resources. This can be a very sober influence--even a depressing one. However, it can also be a productive time when we look reality in the eye.
The Moon in Capricorn generally favors the following activities: Long-term activities that yield slow but steady results, practical undertakings, career issues, making a business plan, practical investments.
When the Moon is in Aquarius
Attraction to all that is new and unusual, and an instinctive need for improvement, characterize the Moon in Aquarius. Reactions are more intellectual than emotional, and interactions are more impersonal than personal, under this influence. This is a time that promotes social gatherings, dealing with group ideals and goals for the future, brainstorming, new ideas, and progressive changes. We are open to new methods of doing things and we have our eye on the future. It can be hard to stick to schedules now, as personal freedom is most important to us.
The Moon in Aquarius generally favors the following activities: Unusual or radical undertakings, social pursuits, group projects, trying something new, joining a group.
When the Moon is in Pisces
We may not want to face reality while the Moon is in dreamy, impressionable Pisces. It can be a wistful, sensitive, intuitive, and compassionate time. We are especially imaginative, and our intuition reigns under this influence. Boundaries and walls come down, as Pisces energy merges and blends. It's a time when details are overlooked and feelings defy description.
The Moon in Pisces generally favors the following activities: Imaginative undertakings, mystical or spiritual pursuits, inner development, music and drama, going on a retreat, activities involving water.
When the Moon is in Aries
We're motivated by a strong desire to start fresh. A gut instinct to begin something new is with us now, as well as the gumption to do so. Our pioneering impulses are strong, and we feel energetic, spontaneous, and enthusiastic. We may also be tactless and impulsive now. Excess energy is best channeled into physical activity.
People can be more self-motivated and also self-focused while the Moon is in Aries. It's a competitive rather than cooperative time. Accidents and tempers flaring are more likely than usual. This period is one of more personal courage.
The Moon in Aries generally favors the following activities: Quick actions that yield immediate results. Undertakings that involve the self and the personality. (Staying power may be lacking). Self-assertion, taking on challenges, beginning short-term projects.
This Week’s Planetary Positions By Sign (General Trends)
Sun in Gemini The cycle which begins for you now will be marked by a more intense focus on mental and communicative activity than you may ever have experienced before. It’s a time of more involvement with other people, a time for gathering information, and a time when you’re apt to be more on the go than ever. There is likely to be an emphasis on reading, writing, studying, and all forms of exchanging information with others in the years ahead – and it will all serve as a path for self-discovery and personal development.
Mercury in Gemini A walking encyclopedia, a yen to know a little bit about everything (and everyone): these are the icons of the cycle you have just begun. Talking, writing, keeping a finger on the pulse of all that’s happening … this is a time of study and learning, a cycle of mental challenge, curiosity, and social/intellectual growth. Such things are an end in themselves rather than a means to any other end.
Venus in Taurus A love of music, an appreciation for sensual pleasures and others of the finer things in life – such are the signs of the cycle which has begun for you. This is aesthetic and artistic to be sure, but it is also practical and materialistic: you develop a keen appreciation for the value of things, including the money it takes to buy them.
Mars in Cancer Defensive, aren’t we? With this new cycle getting underway, protecting and preserving you and yours takes on a higher than usual priority. A sensitivity to the needs and wants of others and an appreciation for their frailties (as well as your own) makes you more cautious and conservative … you pick your battles with care.
Jupiter in Libra The ties that bind, the harmonious integration of opposites, the perfect balance: these are the keys to your greatest opportunities now. Marriage and other close personal relationships tend to offer bright prospects, and you have a deep yearning to experience the fulfillment they can bring.
Saturn in Sagittarius The new phase now beginning in your life brings a need to break out of narrow concepts and legalistic philosophical or religious ideas. Remember: “A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds.” Opportunities to broaden your mental horizons may not come with ease, but they are essential if you are to avoid a kind of spiritual stagnation.
Uranus in Aries A clean break with the past in some respects is signaled by the cycle you have just begun. What YOU need, YOUR freedom and independence, shattering old molds: these are the things that energize you and take priority in your life. Uniqueness and originality set you apart.
Neptune in Pisces Things spiritual and psychic take the driver’s seat of your imagination as you begin a new cycle. The fine arts and all manner of fantasies assume a larger-than-life importance. Surrendering to fate, karma, and other powers greater than merely mortal may be seen as the ultimate liberation. If all is Maya (illusion), what is the reality that gives rise to the world of appearances?
Pluto in Capricorn As this new phase dawns for you, the pursuit of social/political power and status has a way of seeming necessary and inevitable – and let nothing stand in its way. It starts out small but has bigger consequences than you’d think. Ambition, responsibility, a place for everyone and everyone in their place…
