Romance & Relationship Report
Daily Trends
The NEW MOON occurs on Saturday, May 4th, 2019, at 6:45 PM EDT.
On Saturday afternoon, a new cycle begins. The Aries New Moon cycle ends and the Taurus New Moon cycle begins.
The New Moon in Taurus is a good time to commit to personal goals that express the positive energies of the sign of the Bull. It’s time to enjoy life’s simple and physical pleasures–savor good food, and enjoy activities that bring us in touch with nature and with our bodies. It’s time to stop and smell the roses and to become more aware of what makes us feel comfortable and secure. This is a good cycle under which to re-evaluate our relationship to money and possessions, as well as to discover what truly makes us happy and fulfilled.
With this potent Taurus energy, we have the chance to make important changes in our lives. It’s time to make some solid yet realistic plans and to set the stage for reaping the rewards from our new beginnings, as little or big as they may be, in approximately two weeks’ time after the Full Moon occurs. This New Moon harmonizes with Neptune, Saturn, Pluto (wide), and the North Node, suggesting that it’s easier to connect with a sense of purpose for making changes and starting anew. This New Moon chart forms a bowl pattern with Mars opposite Jupiter as its rim, and we can be filled with a mission. Overreaching or cockiness is something to watch for with Mars opposite Jupiter.
This phase of the Moon occurs at 14 degrees and 11 minutes of Taurus, affecting people born with personal planets and points at approximately 10 to 18 degrees of the Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius) most significantly.

This week: The Sun is in Taurus; Mercury is in Aries; Venus is in Aries; Mars is in Gemini.
The Sun is in Taurus from April 20-May 21. In Taurus, the Sun is methodical, sensual, and receptive. The Sun in Taurus is most active when it is defending or resisting things! As the Sun moves through Taurus when plants take root, our determination and security needs are strong. Taurus is loyal to all that is familiar, and values longevity. The shadow side of Taurus is possessiveness and bullheadedness.
Mercury is in Aries from April 17-May 6. When Mercury is in Aries, we are less concerned with objective viewpoints and explanations, and more concerned with reaching a decision…quickly! Our thoughts and ideas are pioneering, and we tend to speak more spontaneously and directly with the planet of communication in bold and assertive Aries.
Venus is in Aries from April 20-May 15. In Aries, love is spontaneous and direct. The chase is very exciting to us under this fiery influence. We are bold, fresh, and a little impatient when it comes to matters of the heart. We don’t look back with Aries energy. We are not interested in saying sorry or dwelling on the past. It’s a brand new day! It’s time to make things work right now. Aries is known for a love of the chase and the conquest, but Aries love can be longstanding as long as it remains relatively fresh. Aries is blunt–there’s no sugar-coating with Aries. This can sting, but rarely is Aries energy mean or petty. Saying it like it is is important to Aries. Desires are strong and expressed spontaneously, enthusiastically, and directly. Aries prefers to seduce rather than be seduced, to chase rather than be chased.
Mars is in Gemini from March 31-May 15. In Gemini, Mars is considerably more versatile and flexible–and considerably less determined and focused! Our interests become more diversified, possibly to the point of going off on so many tangents that we are scattered and ineffective.
Saturn transits Capricorn from December 19/20, 2017, to March 21, 2020; and then finishes up its transit from July 1 to December 17, 2020. Read about Saturn’s transit through Capricorn here.
Jupiter entered Sagittarius on November 8th, 2018, and transits the sign until December 2nd, 2019. Read more about the Jupiter in Sagittarius transit.
Uranus is in Taurus. Uranus first transited Taurus from May 15, 2018, to November 6, 2018, and is now consistently in the sign (since March 6th, 2019) until 2025/6. We approach money and personal possessions in new ways and learn how to free ourselves from certain material constraints. Innovative ways to make ourselves comfortable emerge. We’re less inhibited about expressing sensuality, self-love, body love, and pampering. We’re challenging what we previously valued during this cycle. There can be abrupt changes with money, valuables, possessions, and income that lead to a reshuffling of priorities or values. Income might come from non-traditional sources or ventures. We’re bringing progressive ideas to the world of business. New ways of doing business, as well as making, viewing, and handling money are likely. Income and the energy we put into making money can be variable.
Romance & Relationships
Venus is in Aries from April 20 to May 16, 2019.
This week:
Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:
Venus in Aries April 20-May 16. Romance at the drop of a hat is part and parcel of the cycle you have just begun. Winning the hearts of others can be a challenge you’re eager to accept – and the thrill of the chase might be most of the fun. Is it the pursuit of happiness – or the happiness of pursuit?
Venus conjunct Chiron April 22-23. Healing energy is brought to love relationships, and a new cycle begins. A commitment-friendly transit. Love can heal old wounds. We are open to romantic feelings, and more willing to act upon them. This is a good time to make a resolution to repair, heal, and improve relationships.
Venus parallel Chiron May 2-3. Healing energy is brought to love relationships, and a new cycle begins. A commitment-friendly transit. Love can heal old wounds. We are open to romantic feelings, and more willing to act upon them. This is a good time to make a resolution to repair, heal, and improve relationships.
Venus square Saturn May 6-7. Feeling unsatisfied, isolated, and unloved. Personal relationships are likely to be strained as we express our affections cautiously and sparingly. If we believe we are not getting what we want in love, we attract negative situations and challenges in our relationships. This is not a good time to begin a new relationship–new ones begun now are likely to be stamped with themes of duty and restriction.
The Moon & Timing
The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During the Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects. The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here and is indicative of the “outcome” of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology).
Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart for the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass. The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology. The following tables incorporate the modern planets, but some astrologers do not count Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in void Moon calculations.
The Void-of-Course Moon this Week:
Void-of-course Moon on Sunday, April 28th, from 5:44 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Jupiter), until the Moon enters Pisces at 6:12 PM EDT.
VOC Moon on Tuesday, April 30th, from 5:57 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Jupiter), until the Moon enters Aries the next day, Wednesday, May 1st, at 6:24 AM EDT.
VOC Moon on Friday, May 3rd, from 4:47 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a conjunction to Mercury), until the Moon enters Taurus at 4:18 PM EDT.

Timing with the Moon – Better Periods this Week for Electing New Initiatives
This week, the Moon is waning until the New Moon on May 4th – a period that is generally considered unfavorable for new beginnings with exceptions, after which the Moon is waxing. (See Best Time to Start a Business for more details).
According to principles of timing with the Moon, a window of opportunity occurs this week from Friday, April 26th, at approximately 7:20 PM EDT, until Sunday, April 28th, at approximately 5:40 AM EDT, while the Moon is in Aquarius, but is better after 10 AM on Saturday. Another window occurs during the Cazimi Taurus Moon on Saturday, May 4th, from approximately 6:20 PM to 7:20 PM EDT, while the Moon is in Taurus.

This Week’s Calendar
This Week’s Aspects
Sun sesquiquadrate Jupiter. We may feel vague restlessness and discontent with life as it is. We want more, but perhaps too much. Overestimation, wastefulness, and exaggeration. Elevated moods, but unstable ones, as they may not be based on reality.
Mercury sextile Mars. Mental alertness, enthusiasm, and energetic communications figure now. Quick decisions can be made. We are productive and take “busy-ness” in stride. We are alert and aware, and can easily turn ideas into workable projects.
Mercury square Saturn. Getting from point A to point B can be a challenge during this transit due to obstacles. Communications may be blocked or delayed, and negative thinking could dominate at this time. Projects we thought were complete may need revision, and others could appear overly critical, insensitive, or sarcastic. It’s difficult to trust our instincts, and we second-guess things automatically under this influence. Avoid signing on the dotted line at this time.
Mars quincunx Saturn. Awkward, stop-and-go energy. Attempts to force an issue tend to be thwarted. Indecision or fear can hold us back from taking direct action.
Uranus semi-square Neptune. This is a time when we can feel particularly inspired, although we may feel restless if our dreams are no longer fulfilling us or keeping us hopeful. Watch for impractical ventures and unusual tangents that may not last.
Mercury square Pluto. The tendency to read between the lines with a negative slant is strong during this transit, and can easily stir up trouble. Suspiciousness, making mountains out of molehills, telling others only what we want them to know are possible themes. Mental anxiety or troubles could manifest now. We should try to avoid forcing our ideas on others and strive to maintain an open mind. Compulsive thinking is possible. On the other hand, this influence can suggest the ability to engage in deep, penetrating communication.
Mercury trine Jupiter. Looking for meaning in mundane affairs, positive thinking, insights, cooperation–these are themes of this influence. Our ideas are big and our intentions noble. We might receive good news or offers now. We prefer to think about the big picture rather than becoming bogged down with details. This transit favors short trips, writing, teaching, studying, submitting applications and forms, accurate diagnoses and observations (all things equal).

APRIL 28
The Moon continues its transit of Aquarius until 6:11 PM, after which it transits Pisces. The Aquarius Moon’s sextile to Jupiter helps boost our mood and friendships, and favors learning, teaching, taking exams, publishing, and promotion. The Pisces Moon from this evening forward is strong for tuning into our intuition and for activities that help us detox, forgive, and heal or unwind. We’re heading toward a Sun-Jupiter minor square, exact tomorrow morning, and this does suggest a tendency to want more from our lives. Channeled well, this stimulates improvements, but otherwise can stir up restlessness and can lead to over-indulgence, immoderation, or exaggeration. We should watch for overestimating our capabilities now.
The Moon is void from 5:44 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Jupiter), until the Moon enters Pisces at 6:12 PM EDT.
APRIL 29
The Sun sesquiquadrate Jupiter this morning can stir up challenges with overestimation, wastefulness, and exaggeration. We may feel we can take on more than is reasonable. Ideally, however, it pushes us to improve and expand in positive ways. The Pisces Moon is compassionate and spiritual, generally encouraging an intuitive approach to the day. However, Saturn stations as it turns retrograde today, and this station can temporarily magnify all things “Saturn,” bringing a somewhat heavy energy to the day (and to this surrounding week). This week, we’re more likely to make errors until we adjust to the shift. Saturn will continue to travel in this apparent backward motion until September 18th. While Saturn is retrograde, we tend to review and question our responsibilities and commitments as opposed to dealing with them in the moment. There can be more than usual experiences of guilt and self-doubt as we internalize fears but also an excellent chance to reassess our commitments. Saturn turning retrograde in the sign of Capricorn not long after Pluto turned retrograde in the same sign can point to rather heavy, contemplative, or turning-point energy to the Capricorn area of our charts.
APRIL 30
The Moon spends the day in the sign of Pisces, aligning with Neptune, harmonizing with Saturn and Pluto, and clashing with Mars and Jupiter as Mars and Jupiter get closer to an opposition. This is a time for trying to heal, forgive, and approach our lives more intuitively, but rising ambitions can seem to interfere with the calm or zen we’re trying to achieve. We’re heading toward a useful Mercury-Mars sextile, exact very early into the day tomorrow but in full influence today. Shortly thereafter, a Mercury-Saturn square occurs, and with both in effect, we can feel the desire to be productive, to move something forward, or to put an idea into motion, but blocked. This is a resourceful combination, but as zealous as we may be to communicate our message, there can be difficulties getting it through flowingly. Decisions may come more quickly than usual, and we’re ready to walk the talk. We can be preoccupied with serious or weighty issues. There can be difficulties getting physically getting somewhere. Our communications are direct and to the point, although not especially sympathetic, which is a less-than-ideal match for today’s Pisces Moon.
The Moon is void from 5:57 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Jupiter), until the Moon enters Aries the next day, Wednesday, May 1st, at 6:24 AM EDT.
MAY 1
The Moon continues its transit of Pisces until 6:23 AM EDT, when the Moon enters the first sign of the zodiac, Aries, and we have a desire to begin anew. This morning’s Mercury-Mars sextile and Mercury-Saturn square perfect, and Mars forms a quincunx to Saturn. This is a complex configuration. Rules, restrictions, and limits feel heavy and difficult to coordinate or synthesize with our wants and desires, and while we can feel enthusiastic about putting our ideas or missions into action, we can feel stuck. Timing is off as a result, and the need to adjust our plans can become apparent. Also today, Uranus and Neptune form a semi-square. This long-term transit first formed in August 2017. While this aspect is in play, we seek inspiration, although we may feel restless if our dreams are no longer fulfilling us or keeping us hopeful. We should watch for speculative ventures and whims, as well as unusual tangents that don’t have staying power.
The Moon ends its void period at 6:24 AM EDT, when the Moon enters Aries.
MAY 2
The Moon spends the day in pioneering, active Aries. Mercury forms a square to Pluto today, and then it moves into a trine to Jupiter–two very different-in-nature influences. Mercury-Pluto can produce mental anxiety or troubles, suspiciousness, and possibly a bit of paranoia. This aspect may play to our insecurities and fears that we’re not getting all the information we need. Attempts to push our ideas onto others too intensely should be avoided. We may fear not knowing. The tendency to read between the lines with a negative slant is compelling and can readily stir up trouble. Mercury’s trine to Jupiter, on the other hand, is about faith, and we’re likely to feel more and more confident as the day advances. We might gain a positive outlook through conversations, a sense of hope or faith in the future, and benefit from big-picture thinking. We are seeking out a little extra meaning to our projects and experiences. Our ideas are big and our intentions noble. We might receive good news or offers now. Curiosity is stimulated. Both influences compel us to seek out truths in different ways.
The Moon is void from 3:48 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a conjunction to Pluto), until the Moon enters Aquarius the next day, Friday, April 26th, at 5:28 AM EDT.
MAY 3
The Moon continues its transit of Aries until 4:18 PM EDT, and we’re in an independent, self-starting frame of mind. While we can feel some pressures to perform, we’re also ready to take on a challenge. Our ideas and thoughts flow smoothly, and we’re more receptive and alert than usual. We express our feelings straightforwardly. The Moon enters Taurus at 4:18 PM, and we crave comfort and predictability. However, the Moon also aligns with Uranus, and we’d be wise to embrace some level of change and progress. The need to do our routines just a bit differently can arise. Nobody can force us to do anything just now–we are only in the mood to do things voluntarily. It’s best to put few restrictions on projects and keep our options open.
The Moon is void from 4:47 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a conjunction to Mercury), until the Moon enters Taurus at 4:18 PM EDT.
MAY 4
The New Moon occurs today in the sign of Taurus at 6:46 PM, making it a good time to commit to personal goals that express the positive energies of the sign of the Bull. It’s time to enjoy life’s simple and physical pleasures, as well as activities that bring us in touch with nature and with our bodies. It’s time to “stop and smell the roses” and to become more aware of what makes us feel comfortable and secure. This is an excellent cycle under which to re-evaluate our relationship to money and possessions, as well as to discover what truly makes us happy and fulfilled. We may be building and developing the initiatives and innovations begun in the Aries cycle. With this potent Taurus energy, we have the chance to make significant changes in our lives. In the coming week, we might make realistic plans and set the stage for reaping the rewards from our new beginnings, as little or big as they may be, in approximately two weeks after the Full Moon occurs. This New Moon harmonizes with Neptune, Saturn, Pluto (wide), and the North Node, suggesting that it feels natural to connect with a sense of purpose for making changes and starting anew. We can be filled with a mission. Overreaching or cockiness is something to watch for with Mars opposite Jupiter. A Mars-Pluto quincunx coming into play today can point to some tensions as we recognize the need for change but may be putting too much pressure on ourselves to make it happen. It’s best to pace ourselves.

Moon Signs This Week:
When the Moon is in Aquarius
Attraction to all that is new and unusual, and an instinctive need for improvement, characterize the Moon in Aquarius. Reactions are more intellectual than emotional, and interactions are more impersonal than personal, under this influence. This is a time that promotes social gatherings, dealing with group ideals and goals for the future, brainstorming, new ideas, and progressive changes. We are open to new methods of doing things and we have our eye on the future. It can be hard to stick to schedules now, as personal freedom is most important to us.
The Moon in Aquarius generally favors the following activities: Unusual or radical undertakings, social pursuits, group projects, trying something new, joining a group.
When the Moon is in Pisces
We may not want to face reality while the Moon is in dreamy, impressionable Pisces. It can be a wistful, sensitive, intuitive, and compassionate time. We are especially imaginative, and our intuition reigns under this influence. Boundaries and walls come down, as Pisces energy merges and blends. It's a time when details are overlooked and feelings defy description.
The Moon in Pisces generally favors the following activities: Imaginative undertakings, mystical or spiritual pursuits, inner development, music and drama, going on a retreat, activities involving water.
When the Moon is in Aries
We're motivated by a strong desire to start fresh. A gut instinct to begin something new is with us now, as well as the gumption to do so. Our pioneering impulses are strong, and we feel energetic, spontaneous, and enthusiastic. We may also be tactless and impulsive now. Excess energy is best channeled into physical activity.
People can be more self-motivated and also self-focused while the Moon is in Aries. It's a competitive rather than cooperative time. Accidents and tempers flaring are more likely than usual. This period is one of more personal courage.
The Moon in Aries generally favors the following activities: Quick actions that yield immediate results. Undertakings that involve the self and the personality. (Staying power may be lacking). Self-assertion, taking on challenges, beginning short-term projects.
When the Moon is in Taurus
We are motivated by the desire for serenity, security, peace, and comfort. The Moon is at her most sensual and constant in Taurus. Our basic impulses are to relax, resist change, and "stop to smell the roses." Life slows down a little, and we get comfortable. We may also be inclined to stubbornness and materialism under this influence.
While the Moon is in Taurus, people can be emotionally constant but inflexible. It's a time of stronger focus on personal needs and comfort levels, and a period of more common sense and attention to practical matters.
The Moon in Taurus generally favors the following activities: Substantial and material actions that yield solid results. Financial activities, and those involving personal possessions, applying for a loan, beginning a potentially long-term relationship, music, home decor.
Upcoming Weeks: Calendars
THIS WEEK’S PLANETARY POSITIONS BY SIGN (General Trends):
Sun in Taurus The cycle now dawning in your life emphasizes stability, substance, practicality, and the concept of value – value in the material as well as psycho-spiritual sense. This marks a time of building to last, of appreciating the substantial rather than ephemeral. Consolidating past gains rather than focusing on radical new departures is likely to be a major theme for you during this cycle. Appreciating the finer things of life is another hallmark of this phase, which marks a time when you should be concentrating on “smelling the roses” rather than passing them by in such a hurry.
Mercury in Aries New ideas and an independent or pioneering mental orientation take on more importance in your life at this time. Teaching, learning, communicating, and social contact have a way of outlining new directions in your life now, and there is much activity and involvement with these kinds of issues.
Venus in Aries Romance at the drop of a hat is part and parcel of the cycle you have just begun. Winning the hearts of others can be a challenge you’re eager to accept – and the thrill of the chase might be most of the fun. Is it the pursuit of happiness – or the happiness of pursuit?
Mars in Gemini Learning, communicating, the exchange of ideas: these are the experiences you crave as a means to make your mark now, as a new phase begins in your life. You’re a person with something to say, and you realize that others have information that is essential to your goals. A time of much mental energy and initiative … perhaps with an element of conflict tossed in for good measure.
Jupiter in Sagittarius Faith, optimism, and a yearning to explore all kinds of new horizons: these are some of the focal points in your life at this time. Travel, education, and other ways to stretch your horizons open new doors of opportunity. Religious, philosophical, and cultural matters are likely to have special appeal for you now; transmitting ideas on a broader scale brings gain.
Saturn in Capricorn Responsibility, hard work, ambition, and achievement: these are the foundations you need to build on now, as a new cycle dawns in your life. And yet, there is a tendency to be a little too hard, perhaps a bit cold, in your approach to these things. Let ambition take you to the top, but don’t let it lull you into thinking that the end justifies the means.
Uranus in Taurus Practicality and ingenuity combine as powerful drives in your life now that you have begun a new cycle. Taking innovative concepts and making them real and practical is your strong suit; getting stuck in the mud is to be avoided at all costs. Financial savvy, inventiveness, worldly genius.
Neptune in Pisces Things spiritual and psychic take the driver’s seat of your imagination as you begin a new cycle. The fine arts and all manner of fantasies assume a larger-than-life importance. Surrendering to fate, karma, and other powers greater than merely mortal may be seen as the ultimate liberation. If all is Maya (illusion), what is the reality that gives rise to the world of appearances?
Pluto in Capricorn As this new phase dawns for you, the pursuit of social/political power and status has a way of seeming necessary and inevitable – and let nothing stand in its way. It starts out small but has bigger consequences than you’d think. Ambition, responsibility, a place for everyone and everyone in their place…
