First Quarter Moon
The FIRST QUARTER MOON occurs on Monday, January 6th 2025, at 6:56 PM EST.
On Monday, a First Quarter Moon occurs, when the Sun in Capricorn forms a square with the Moon in Aries.
There is a crisis theme surrounding any quarter Moon phase, as we feel compelled to take action. Shortly after, we become aware of how our actions affect those close to us, perhaps through trial and error. Whatever project or initiative we began around the New Moon is now off the ground, and it may face its first obstacles.
The First Quarter Moon Chart:
This phase of the Moon occurs at 16 degrees and 56 minutes of Aries, square the Sun at the same degree of Capricorn, and affecting planets at approximately 15 to 19 degrees of the Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn) the most.
NEXT WEEK:
The FULL MOON will occur on Monday, January 13th 2025, at 5:27 PM EST.

(Times are Eastern)
This week: The Sun is in Capricorn; Mercury is in Sagittarius until January 8th, when it enters Capricorn; Venus is in Pisces; Mars is in Leo until it retreats into Cancer on January 6th.
The Sun is in Capricorn from December 21-January 19. While the Sun is in Capricorn, we are motivated by feelings of responsibility, ambition, and respect for law and order. Capricorn derives much satisfaction in completion and accomplishment. Standards, structures, and an appreciation for order are Capricorn themes.
Capricorn wants tangible results, knows what is feasible and what is not, and is most comfortable working within an established framework and known boundaries or limits. Working towards a long-term goal is most satisfying with this influence.
We take a conservative approach to most matters during this month-long transit. Taking risks or making impulsive moves doesn’t suit us. We move ahead gradually but steadily and prosper by playing the long game–patiently working toward our objectives and taking care of our future. It’s a time when we expect eventual success by embracing step-by-step methods.
Mercury is in Sagittarius from November 2, 2024-January 8, 2025. [Lengthier than usual due to a Mercury retrograde cycle that occurs entirely in the sign of Sagittarius from November 25th to December 15th]. When Mercury is in Sagittarius, our thinking shifts from a need to plumb the depths of any given situation to the desire to learn about a wide range of topics. We seek ideals, our thinking is more optimistic, and our faith increases. We are more equipped to believe and to persuade. What is fair and unfair concerns us most now. However, we are not always very precise under this influence.
We’re more inclined to ask questions and seek answers during this forward-looking cycle. We might often wax philosophical, and we enjoy wrapping our minds around new concepts and ideas. Still, the details are not as interesting to us now, as we prefer to envision the big picture.
On the downside, we can be inconsistent and lack attention to details. While frank and open, we can also be tactless during this period. We’re generous with our communications and input, and we’re humorous and friendly at this time.
Mercury is in Capricorn from January 8-27. When Mercury is in Capricorn, our thinking is methodical and our focus is sober and practical. It is easier to concentrate on the task at hand under this influence. Our conversations may be quite realistic or focused on business/practical matters. Our thought patterns and communication styles become more logical, orderly, and organized.
We are more able to sort out what is relevant and essential. Realism enters the picture, our speech is no-nonsense, and precision becomes important to us. Our survival instincts are strong–we’re interested in what will benefit us in the long term.
We’re not interested in the fluff, preferring to get right to a point or the bottom line. Communication can be somewhat guarded or cautious, and similarly not very floral or expressive. We gravitate to concrete subjects and information that’s logical, useful, and well-organized. We may prefer a methodical approach to studying. Our fantasies may be well-considered and possible, with realistic overtones.
We need to be wary of becoming too rigid in our thinking. We may come across as cold or harsh. For some, there is a fine line between realism and pessimism. At times, we might lack humor, or we’re inclined toward sarcasm when joking. We can be quite stubborn with our ideas and methods.
We can use this period to make solid, realistic plans and get organized. It’s a favorable time to advise, teach, or guide. Generally, we’re more concerned than usual with our reputation or responsibilities. Our dependability can reap rewards. We love to plan ahead and map out our next steps. Changes of schedule can be most disconcerting during this cycle.
Our reactions are sensible, cool, and level-headed while Mercury is in Capricorn.
Venus is in Pisces from January 2-February 4 [and later, March 27-April 30]. Venus in Pisces is tender and affectionate, although hard to reach, as there is a longing for something that is difficult to define and hard to satisfy. Borders and boundaries blur under Venus in Pisces. The shadow side of this position is allowing ourselves to be deceived because we want to believe, as well as evasiveness. We should watch for falling in love with an idealized image of something or someone. It’s also important to watch for avoidant or indirect behavior.
Venus is exalted in Pisces and does well in the sign. It’s devoted, compassionate, exceptionally giving, and capable of sacrifice. We might refer heavily on our intuition with our finances and love life during this cycle. We gravitate to–and appreciate–unusual, tossed aside, poetic, artistic objects, situations, and people. We seek activities that move, inspire, or touch us.
Money may slip through our fingers, or we could ignore or overlook some of the practical elements of our lives now. However, finances improve if we connect with our otherworldly talents, imagination, desire to heal and serve, or sense of mission.
This transit is not particularly strong for resolve or determination, but it’s good for adaptability and increased understanding or acceptance.
Mars is in Leo from November 3, 2024, to January 6, 2025, and then April 18-June 17, 2025. [Why so long and in two steps? Mars transits Leo, but then turns retrograde on December 6th, 2024. While retrograde, Mars returns to Cancer (on January 6th, 2025). Mars turns direct on February 23rd and then enters Leo again on April 18th.] In Leo, Mars is proud, self-confident, and grand. We are spirited and have grand goals. We go after what we want in a direct, self-assured manner, desiring dramatic results. We prefer not to worry about details, and take the least complicated route to our goals. The sex drive is strong, and passion for life is high.
Mars in Leo can awaken a competitive spirit or drive. We’re more willing to take risks to get what we want. We also tend to make a splash, and we want to be in the driver’s seat. This transit is passionate, ardent, and dramatic. We seek to appear strong and prefer to be in the lead or the center of attention. We can be particularly angry if we feel disrespected or in an undignified position.
Mars is in Cancer from January 6-April 18. [While retrograde Mars returns to Cancer on January 6th,. Mars turns direct on February 23rd and continues its transit of Cancer until April 18th.] We pursue our interests ardently, but we avoid a direct approach to going after we want while Mars transits Cancer. As well, our goals and plans are subject to mood swings and vacillations. We are defensive rather than overtly aggressive. Much of what we do depends on our current mood of the moment.
We’re also very intuitive and can be moved to take action to bring peace or comfort and safety to our lives during this period. We go to bat for our loved ones. In fact, we’re fiercely protective. It’s a powerful period for putting ego matters aside so that we can push our plans forward. Inner satisfaction and love are generally more important to us than outer achievements at this time. Personal and domestic goals are our priority during this phase.
Jupiter is in Gemini.
Jupiter began its transit of Gemini on May 24th, 2024, and continues its transit of the sign until June 9th, 2025. Read more about Jupiter’s transit of Gemini.
Saturn transits Pisces from March 7th, 2023 until May 24th, 2025, and Sep 1st, 2025, to Feb 13th, 2026. Read about Saturn’s transit of Pisces. Saturn will enter Aries on May 24th, 2025.
Uranus is in Taurus.
Uranus transits Taurus from May 15, 2018, to November 6, 2018, and then from March 6th, 2019, until 2025/6. We approach money and personal possessions in new ways and learn to free ourselves from certain material constraints. Innovative ways to make ourselves comfortable emerge. We’re less inhibited about expressing sensuality, self-love, body love, and pampering. Above all, we’re challenging what we previously valued during this cycle.
There can be abrupt changes with money, valuables, possessions, and income that lead to a reshuffling of priorities or values. Income might come from non-traditional sources or ventures. In general, we’re bringing progressive ideas to the world of business. New ways of doing business, as well as making, viewing, and handling money, are likely. Our income and the energy we put into making money can be variable.
Pluto is in Aquarius. Read about Pluto’s transit of Aquarius. Note that Pluto finally completed its journey through Capricorn on November 19th, 2024, from which time Pluto will stay in Aquarius for many years to come.
Romance & Relationships
Venus is in Pisces from January 2 to February 4, 2025. Like Aquarius, Pisces love is universal. However, Pisces draws no bounds in love. With Venus in Pisces, we have compassion (and perhaps attraction) for those who are left out, overlooked, or victimized. We are self-sacrificing, and we have a hard time setting up borders. The walls go down, we have a hard time saying no (especially if our compassion is engaged), but we are also prone to avoiding all that makes us feel uncomfortable.
Wishful thinking is one expression of Venus in Pisces. We can too easily believe what we want to believe. People can be hard to pin down, and love is hard to define under this influence. Pisces never sees the world in black-and-white terms. Rather, Pisces sees all the colors of the rainbow. With the goddess of love in Pisces, our love is all-embracing, we are able to forgive and understand, we are seducible and seductive, and we show compassion to our partners.
Venus in Pisces is tender and affectionate, although hard to reach nevertheless, as there is a longing for something that is hard to define and hard to satisfy. Borders and boundaries blur under Venus in Pisces. The shadow side of this position is allowing ourselves to be deluded, as well as evasiveness.
This week: On Monday, there can be some reluctance to commit or to show our affections. On Saturday, the 11th, our interactions or questions posed can point us to the direction of our vulnerabilities and triggers.
Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:
Venus in Pisces A martyr complex, a love for the underdog, a search for your soul mate: such are the experiences associated with the new cycle you’re now just beginning. A yen for soul-stirring romance, a weakness for the weak, and a tendency to idealize people and relationships … very aesthetic, very other-worldly.
Venus quincunx Mars January 3. When we attempt to be friendly, we seem to miss the mark. Attempting to satisfy romantic needs and assertive/sexual needs simultaneously can be challenging. Our romantic sensibilities and our desires are at odds with one another, and problems (especially misunderstandings) in romantic and sexual relationships may result. This is a less-than-ideal transit under which to begin a new relationship.
Venus semi-square Chiron January 6. Love cannot be forced. This is not a commitment-friendly transit, as we may feel alienated for no apparent reason and unwilling to give of ourselves.
Venus contra-parallel Chiron January 11-12. Others, and especially partners and love interests, have something to teach us. This is a time for identifying vulnerable areas.
The Moon & Timing
The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During the Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects.
The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here and is indicative of the “outcome” of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology).
Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart to determine the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass.
The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology. The following tables incorporate the modern planets, but some astrologers do not count Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in void Moon calculations.
The Void-of-Course Moon this Week:
Void-of-course Moon on Sunday, January 5th, from 9:31 AM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a conjunction to Neptune), until the Moon enters Aries at 2:01 PM EST.
VOC Moon on Tuesday, January 7th, from 4:16 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Mars), until the Moon enters Taurus at 5:11 PM EST.
VOC Moon on Thursday, January 9th, from 5:50 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Mars), until the Moon enters Gemini at 8:07 PM EST.
VOC Moon on Saturday, January 11th, from 7:04 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Neptune), until the Moon enters Cancer at 11:24 PM EST.
January 2025:
Timing with the Moon – Better Periods this Week for Electing New Initiatives
It’s important to note that there are more factors to consider in addition to the windows listed below. The following windows are starting points. For example, you generally don’t want to elect a new venture when a very challenging aspect is applying, and it’s preferable to elect a time when a particularly positive aspect hasn’t yet perfected (is applying rather than separating).
The Moon is waxing this week, which is generally considered favorable for new beginnings, although with some exceptions. (See Best Time to Start a Business for more details).
According to principles of timing with the Moon, a window of opportunity occurs this week from Tuesday, January 7th, at approximately 8:30 PM EST, until Thursday, January 9th, at approximately 5:45 PM EST, while the Moon is in Taurus. Note that Mars is retrograde during this period.

This Week’s Calendar
This Week’s Aspects
Mars sesquiquadrate Saturn. We are called upon to solve problems, or our plans and efforts meet with resistance. Circumstances seem to block our efforts to assert ourselves. Patience is necessary now, although frustration is very likely. It can feel like more effort than usual is required to complete tasks.
Mercury square Neptune. We find it hard to follow facts, directions, and instructions. Difficulties concentrating on hard, cold facts are likely; and we may question facts altogether or avoid being pinned down for answers. This is a bad time for signing on the dotted line. Perceptions are confused, unrealistic, or too idealistic to carry weight in the real world. Conversations may be vague.
Venus semi-square Chiron. Blocks to intimacy are possible now as we focus on differences rather than similarities in our relationships with others. We might have a hard time learning from one another as a result.
Mercury quincunx Mars. What we do and what we think or say are different. Instead of listening to what others have to say, we end up interrupting them and making assumptions. This is not a good day to make important decisions, as our thinking simply isn’t clear.
Sun square Chiron. The desire to learn and grow through experiences and through others is strong, but may be hampered by a lack of confidence or a fear of being different. We might experience a lack of faith in our own decisions. We could too easily follow others’ leads due to self-doubt, or simply to please them and out of fear of asserting our own desires.

JANUARY 5
The Moon continues its transit of Pisces until 2:01 PM EST, and the Sun is quintile Neptune this morning, and we are gracious, giving one another the benefit of the doubt. It can feel terrific to put our faith in someone or something now, and we’re inclined to see the spiritual dimensions or imaginative elements of our pursuits. The Moon’s alignment with Neptune reinforces this theme. We’re easily touched and moved and quickly tune into the vibrations around us. The Aries Moon, from 2:01 PM forward, is direct and enterprising. We’re gearing up to take action and initiate. The Moon’s alignment with the Moon’s North Node reminds us to embrace our individuality.
The Moon is void from 9:31 AM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a conjunction to Neptune), until the Moon enters Aries at 2:01 PM EST.
JANUARY 6
Retrograde Mars returns to the sign of Cancer today. Mars began its retrograde cycle on December 6th, 2024, in Leo. Mars is now in Cancer, where it will remain for the rest of its retrograde cycle and beyond. We might experience smoldering anger, finding it hard to discover direct and healthy expressions or outlets for frustrations. We can be more pensive and cautious, taking our time to reach our goals. If we push ahead impulsively anyhow, we’re likely to run into problems, obstacles, and frustrations. Cancer rules our inner foundations as well as outer ones–our homes, domestic affairs, and relationships with family. As such, we may need to re-assess our approach to our home lives until February 23rd. We are apt to feel some frustration or anxiety about our basic sense of comfort and security–our roots– and about the development of our domestic affairs. Health issues may be a factor (especially in areas ruled by Cancer, including the stomach), and accidents are a possibility throughout the Mars retrograde period.
Mars forms a sesquiquadrate with Saturn this morning, and it’s best to slow down in the face of obstacles, as trying to move too fast can create more resistance. Since circumstances seem to block our efforts to assert ourselves, patience is necessary. Mercury forms a square to Neptune, and it can be challenging to follow or clearly communicate facts, directions, and instructions. Perceptions may be confused or overly idealistic, influenced heavily by wishful thinking and imagination. We may be dealing with deception or self-deception, and it can be difficult to be discriminating. However, our minds are open to many different possibilities and options.
A First Quarter Moon occurs this evening at 6:56 PM EST when the Sun in Capricorn forms a square to the Moon in Aries. There can be stress, clashing, and discord, but also considerable energy, motivation, and growth. We can feel more ambitious and competitive. We want to get something going, but we may not know the next step or the exact direction we want it/us to take.
JANUARY 7
The Moon continues its transit of straightforward, action-oriented Aries until 5:11 PM EST, when it enters stable, down-to-earth Taurus. Mercury will leave Sagittarius and enter Capricorn tomorrow, but before it goes, it forms a quincunx to retrograde Mars today. We can experience aggravation if we’re not understood or if we can’t seem to get where we want to go fast enough. What we do and what we think or communicate can be at odds. Listening isn’t our strong suit now–we’re inclined to interrupt and make assumptions. Conditions are not ideal for making important decisions, and we should watch for impatience. Still, Mercury forms a biquintile with Uranus, and Venus connects with Mars via the same aspect, inspiring creative ways to approach one another and technical matters. We more readily see patterns of relating and can use them positively to encourage creativity and excitement.
The Moon is void from 4:16 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Mars), until the Moon enters Taurus at 5:11 PM EST.
JANUARY 8
Early today, good energy is with us for connecting, researching, and doing purposeful work. This can be a time for finding wisdom in traditional methods and bringing structure and robust design to our projects. Our judgment is sound.
Mercury enters Capricorn today after a long transit of Sagittarius. While Mercury transits Capricorn until January 27th, our thinking is systematic, and our focus is sober and practical. It’s easier to concentrate on the task at hand under this influence. Our conversations may be quite realistic or focused on business/practical matters. Our thought patterns and communication styles are more logical, orderly, and organized. We’re able to sort out what is relevant and essential. Realism enters the picture, our speech is no-nonsense, and precision becomes most valuable to us. We should be wary of becoming too rigid in our thinking and coming across as cold or harsh during this cycle.
As the day advances, a Sun-Chiron square can point to wavering confidence. We may doubt our inner guide and face situations that test our vulnerabilities. Some indecision is possible. This transit tends to stir insecurity or uncertainty about our direction, convictions, or purpose. A dip in confidence or faith in our resolutions and principles can lead to following others’ leads, which can later be regrettable. A better approach would be to recognize our feelings of vulnerability and reserve judgment.
JANUARY 9
With Jupiter trine to Ceres today, this is a time to put our faith and hearts into a cause, our loved ones, or a pet project. We’re generous with our time and energy. There can be positive developments in health or with family and home matters. The Moon continues its transit of Taurus until 8:07 PM EST, and while we’re listening to our needs for change and innovation, we’re respecting the process and the need for patience. This is a good time to put effort towards scientific or progressive causes and projects or bring new, unique, and exciting elements to our work. New techniques or options can emerge, and we can feel very excited about pursuing them. The Moon in Gemini from 8:07 PM forward is curious and communicative, making it a good time to look into new topics and handle several different tasks. While it’s not an ideal Moon transit for follow-through, tonight’s Moon-Pluto trine helps us focus.
The Moon is void from 5:50 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a sextile to Mars), until the Moon enters Gemini at 8:07 PM EST.
JANUARY 10
The Moon spends the day in Gemini, which is a lively and curious influence. We prefer to keep our options open, and we’re especially communicative and connected. The Moon’s alignment with Jupiter magnifies our desire to learn, share, and connect. We’re generous with our information and time. While it’s a lighthearted transit, Mercury’s quintile with Saturn today helps with thoughtful and practical communications. We’re mentally disciplined. Mercury also harmonizes with Vesta, and we’re willing to put in the effort for a mental interest or project, feeling pleasantly dedicated to our work or ideas. The Moon’s square to Saturn tonight can feel restrictive. We might worry that we’re divulging too much. Otherwise, this Moon transit is stimulating and encourages our reasonable and logical side.
JANUARY 11
The Moon’s North Node (True) enters Pisces today (the Mean Node will enter Pisces on January 29th). With the North Node of the Moon transiting the sign of Pisces until July 2026, it’s a time to work on feelings of guilt about not doing enough or the tendency to overanalyze and overthink. We’re learning to put more faith or trust in a bigger plan. Our path is to develop our love for ourselves and others through growing our compassion and understanding. It’s a time to learn more humility as we recognize that we (and others) are imperfect and don’t have to be perfect. Benefits come from developing our imagination, empathy, capacity for compassion, and faith. If we default to overworking or over-attention to physical health, we must now recognize the need to commit to our mental and emotional health. Learning to let go of an obsession with rules, details, and fears of not doing things perfectly or correctly will help us achieve a greater sense of balance and quieten guilty feelings and fears of failure, leading to a better state of inner balance.
Not only is this a robust period for inner work, but it’s also an excellent time for work behind the scenes. More quality time to ourselves helps us connect with our muse and potential for inner healing. We’re discovering that being idle is not inherently wrong — we need to disconnect, detox, and decompress from time to time. At the same time, we can enjoy more magic in our daily routines. It’s a strong time for growth through meditation, healing, medicine, research, art, film, photography, poetry, dance, and psychology.
Today’s Sun-Juno sextile positions us well to strengthen and support one another and, in the process, build trust. We take more pride in our relationships or projects and are willing to put more effort into them. The Moon spends most of the day in Gemini, only entering Cancer at 11:24 PM EST, and we seek mental engagement. However, by day’s end, we’re ready to get comfortable.
The Moon is void from 7:04 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Neptune), until the Moon enters Cancer at 11:24 PM EST.

Moon Signs This Week:
When the Moon is in Pisces
We may not want to face reality while the Moon is in dreamy, impressionable Pisces. It can be a wistful, sensitive, intuitive, and compassionate time. We are especially imaginative, and our intuition reigns under this influence. Boundaries and walls come down, as Pisces energy merges and blends. It's a time when details are overlooked and feelings defy description.
The Moon in Pisces generally favors the following activities: Imaginative undertakings, mystical or spiritual pursuits, inner development, music and drama, going on a retreat, activities involving water.
When the Moon is in Aries
We're motivated by a strong desire to start fresh. A gut instinct to begin something new is with us now, as well as the gumption to do so. Our pioneering impulses are strong, and we feel energetic, spontaneous, and enthusiastic. We may also be tactless and impulsive now. Excess energy is best channeled into physical activity.
People can be more self-motivated and also self-focused while the Moon is in Aries. It's a competitive rather than cooperative time. Accidents and tempers flaring are more likely than usual. This period is one of more personal courage.
The Moon in Aries generally favors the following activities: Quick actions that yield immediate results. Undertakings that involve the self and the personality. (Staying power may be lacking). Self-assertion, taking on challenges, beginning short-term projects.
When the Moon is in Taurus
We are motivated by the desire for serenity, security, peace, and comfort. The Moon is at her most sensual and constant in Taurus. Our basic impulses are to relax, resist change, and "stop to smell the roses." Life slows down a little, and we get comfortable. We may also be inclined to stubbornness and materialism under this influence.
While the Moon is in Taurus, people can be emotionally constant but inflexible. It's a time of stronger focus on personal needs and comfort levels, and a period of more common sense and attention to practical matters.
The Moon in Taurus generally favors the following activities: Substantial and material actions that yield solid results. Financial activities, and those involving personal possessions, applying for a loan, beginning a potentially long-term relationship, music, home decor.
When the Moon is in Gemini
Our basic instinct is to communicate, think, and learn under the influence of Moon in Gemini. We are motivated by a desire for variety and by an instinctive curiosity. The Moon in Gemini is light-hearted, breezy, spirited, and curious, but it can also be restless and fickle.
The Moon in Gemini generally favors the following activities: Mental and communicative actions, and more than one activity at once. Reading, learning, letters and emails, errands, writing, teaching, making connections, cafes, light and airy meetings, short trips.
When the Moon is in Cancer
The restlessness of the Gemini Moon gives way to an instinctive need for peace and quiet. A feeling of belonging and safety is what motivates us under this influence. The Moon feels right at home in the sign of Cancer, as it rules the sign. This Moon position has much healing potential. Although insular by nature, our feelings run deep, making it an ideal time to get in touch with what motivates us.
The Moon in Cancer generally favors the following activities: Domestic activities, those that involve awareness of personal needs. Home decor, family get-togethers.

THIS WEEK’S PLANETARY POSITIONS BY SIGN (General Trends):
Sun in Capricorn You see what’s wrong and you know what to do now: the time has come to make it real, and it’s a lot bigger than any one person. This means cooperation and organization, authority and discipline, responsibility – and all these things are what it takes to get you where you know you must go. But take care! If your vision is only for yourself, what you create cannot last: it must be for some greater good. Ambition, practicality, and achievement are admirable, but they are means to an end – not ends in themselves.
Mercury in Sagittarius A time of expanding your mental horizons is at hand. Religion, philosophy, law, and education are some of the things that may have special importance for you now. Being in touch with faraway people and places satisfies an intellectual yearning – curiosity will take you anywhere and maybe everywhere.
Mercury in Capricorn Figuring out how to organize projects and people is apt to become a topic of special interest – and a challenge – at a time like this. Opinions are not enough for you now: they must be backed by authority or evidence, and above all they must have practical worth and application. A period of intense study and thought.
Mars in Leo The thrill of the chase, the smell of the greasepaint, the roar of the crowd: that’s what gets your juices flowing now that you’ve entered a new cycle. To be appreciated, to be admired (adored, even) – that’s what you crave. It’s a time of creativity, drama, and passion; a time when grabbing the spotlight and stealing the scene gives you a thrill. Is winning everything? No – but it’s way ahead of whatever comes in second!
Mars in Cancer Defensive, aren’t we? With this new cycle getting underway, protecting and preserving you and yours takes on a higher than usual priority. A sensitivity to the needs and wants of others and an appreciation for their frailties (as well as your own) makes you more cautious and conservative … you pick your battles with care.
Jupiter in Gemini Facilitating the transfer of ideas and information takes on a special priority for you now. Writing, studying, and communicating play a bigger role in your life as a result. The belief that well-informed people will make the right decisions becomes an article of faith. Just remember: sometimes people know the right thing to do and STILL do something different!
Saturn in Pisces Making peace with the past, coming to terms with karmic debts: these are some of the issues that confront you as a new phase begins in your life. Failure to face these things can cause setbacks and put obstacles in your path. Learn to look beyond the narrowly personal and selfish or you’ll get in over your head.
Uranus in Taurus Practicality and ingenuity combine as powerful drives in your life now that you have begun a new cycle. Taking innovative concepts and making them real and practical is your strong suit; getting stuck in the mud is to be avoided at all costs. Financial savvy, inventiveness, worldly genius.
Neptune in Pisces Things spiritual and psychic take the driver’s seat of your imagination as you begin a new cycle. The fine arts and all manner of fantasies assume a larger-than-life importance. Surrendering to fate, karma, and other powers greater than merely mortal may be seen as the ultimate liberation. If all is Maya (illusion), what is the reality that gives rise to the world of appearances?
Pluto in Aquarius Reform, revolution, a rejection of the past and a focus on the future: these are the signatures of the new phase now beginning in your life. Tradition becomes irrelevant, and the conventional wisdom is revealed as dogma or outright nonsense – and what’s the difference, really? Radical changes in all things social and intellectual.
