The NEW MOON occurs on Sunday, December 1st, 2024, at 1:21 AM EST.
Very early Sunday, the New Moon occurs in the sign of Sagittarius when the Sun and Moon align. The New Moon in Sagittarius marks the beginning of a new cycle.
Representing new beginnings, the New Moon occurs with the Sun and Moon’s alignment in the mutable fire sign of Sagittarius. It’s a time when we can focus on some of the constructive traits of the sign of the Archer – optimistic, enthusiastic, adventurous, honest, outspoken, independent – and consider how to positively incorporate these qualities into our lives.
As we advance, we can focus on goals that will increase our understanding and awareness, give us the courage to expand our horizons, and gain confidence and optimism from a broader perspective. All too easily, we can get lost in the details of mundane existence. With this potent Sagittarius energy, however, we can find ways to transcend these details of day-to-day life and nurture our faith, hope, and vision.
Because Sagittarius thinks in big terms, we may have a tendency to overdo our expectations – something to watch for. We are setting the stage for reaping the rewards from our braveries, as little or big as they may be, in approximately two weeks’ time after the Full Moon occurs.
This New Moon forms a trine with Mars on the one hand, supporting our energy and motivation levels, and a square with Saturn on the other, suggesting blocks to our efforts to begin anew.
The New Moon Chart:
This phase of the Moon occurs at 9 degrees and 33 minutes of Sagittarius, affecting planets at approximately 6 to 14 degrees of the Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces) the most.
The chart above is excellent for visualizing the major influences in the New Moon chart along with the chart patterns. Below, the chart wheel is of the same event but with a few more points, such as the major asteroids and Chiron.
NEXT WEEK:
The FIRST QUARTER MOON will occur on Sunday, December 8th 2024, at 10:26 AM EST.

This week: The Sun is in Sagittarius; Mercury is in Sagittarius; Venus is in Capricorn until the 7th, when it enters Aquarius; Mars is in Leo.
The Sun is in Sagittarius from November 21-December 21. With the Sun in Sagittarius, our focus shifts from the need for an intimate connection with a person and with ourselves, to the desire to reach out to the world and connect with something larger than ourselves.
While the Sun moves through this fiery, mutable sign, we can take steps to increase our understanding and awareness of the world around us. We are more able to muster up the courage to expand our horizons and branch out into new ways of thinking.
We can gain more confidence and optimism by focusing on the “big picture” as we move away from our focus on the details of mundane existence. Although we may be prone to overdoing our expectations, we have the opportunity to nurture our faith, hope, and vision under this influence.
Mercury is in Sagittarius from November 2, 2024-January 8, 2025 [Lengthier than usual due to a Mercury retrograde cycle that occurs entirely in the sign of Sagittarius from November 25th to December 15th]. When Mercury is in Sagittarius, our thinking shifts from a need to plumb the depths of any given situation to the desire to learn about a wide range of topics. We seek ideals, our thinking is more optimistic, and our faith increases. We are more equipped to believe and to persuade. What is fair and unfair concerns us most now. However, we are not always very precise under this influence.
We’re more inclined to ask questions and seek answers during this forward-looking cycle. We might often wax philosophical, and we enjoy wrapping our minds around new concepts and ideas. Still, the details are not as interesting to us now, as we prefer to envision the big picture.
On the downside, we can be inconsistent and lack attention to details. While frank and open, we can also be tactless during this period. We’re generous with our communications and input, and we’re humorous and friendly at this time.
Venus is in Capricorn from November 11- December 7. Getting serious about our finances and boosting our relations with business partners and/or co-workers will be easier than usual under this influence. Our talents for creating artistic structure and form are enhanced, and our ability to form connections with people who support our ambitions increases.
We value enduring connections, reliability, and faithfulness. We take expressing our feelings seriously, and we take our time to warm up to others. We generally keep our “cool” in relationships. We’re steadfast and seek genuine, perhaps old-fashioned connections. It’s not a time for PDA, and we can be somewhat guarded and reserved with expressing our feelings or revealing our relationships.
The underdog who works hard can have their time in the sun now. We value slow and steady effort and long-term prospects. Reliability in others is most attractive.
This cycle favors getting along well with higher-ups, conservative business goals and ventures, long-term investments, and matters related to pension.
Venus is in Aquarius from December 7, 2024-January 2, 2025. We move towards unconventionality, independence, and freedom as themes in our social relationships under this influence. Aquarius can be just as faithful as Capricorn, but it has to be on its own terms! Experimental relationships are more intriguing now.
Being friends as well as lovers is important to us during this cycle. Allowing one another freedom of expression, and treating others fairly, unselfishly, and impartially, are themes now.
We treat people as equals and take our friendships, causes, and interests seriously. We prize intellectual stimulation and companionship. Income boosts come through innovative ideas. We can remake traditions and approach things unconventionally. Being true to ourselves is of the utmost importance in our relationships. Venus-in-Aquarius is a friendly but aloof period.
Mars is in Leo from November 3, 2024, to January 6, 2025, and then April 18-June 17, 2025. [Why so long and in two steps? Mars transits Leo, but then turns retrograde on December 6th, 2024. While retrograde, Mars returns to Cancer (on January 6th, 2025). Mars turns direct on February 23rd and then enters Leo again on April 18th.] In Leo, Mars is proud, self-confident, and grand. We are spirited and have grand goals. We go after what we want in a direct, self-assured manner, desiring dramatic results. We prefer not to worry about details, and take the least complicated route to our goals. The sex drive is strong, and passion for life is high.
Mars in Leo can awaken a competitive spirit or drive. We’re more willing to take risks to get what we want. We also tend to make a splash, and we want to be in the driver’s seat. This transit is passionate, ardent, and dramatic. We seek to appear strong and prefer to be in the lead or the center of attention. We can be particularly angry if we feel disrespected or in an undignified position.
Jupiter is in Gemini.
Jupiter began its transit of Gemini on May 24th, 2024, and continues its transit of the sign until June 9th, 2025. Read more about Jupiter’s transit of Gemini.
Saturn transits Pisces from March 7th, 2023 until May 24th, 2025, and Sep 1st, 2025, to Feb 13th, 2026. Read about Saturn’s transit of Pisces. Saturn will enter Aries on May 24th, 2025.
Uranus is in Taurus.
Uranus transits Taurus from May 15, 2018, to November 6, 2018, and then from March 6th, 2019, until 2025/6. We approach money and personal possessions in new ways and learn to free ourselves from certain material constraints. Innovative ways to make ourselves comfortable emerge. We’re less inhibited about expressing sensuality, self-love, body love, and pampering. Above all, we’re challenging what we previously valued during this cycle.
There can be abrupt changes with money, valuables, possessions, and income that lead to a reshuffling of priorities or values. Income might come from non-traditional sources or ventures. In general, we’re bringing progressive ideas to the world of business. New ways of doing business, as well as making, viewing, and handling money, are likely. Our income and the energy we put into making money can be variable.
Pluto is in Aquarius. Read about Pluto’s transit of Aquarius. Note that Pluto finally completed its journey through Capricorn last week, on November 19th, 2024, from which time Pluto stays in Aquarius for many years to come.
Romance & Relationships
Venus is in Capricorn from November 11-December 7. Venus in Capricorn is a cycle in which security and stability in our relationships are paramount. We are more cautious with our emotions and somewhat skeptical of both our own feelings and others’ expressions of affection. Longevity is important to us under this influence.
There is a formality to Capricorn that can make personal expressions seem awkward and forced. However, this cycle offers us the opportunity to consider some of the practical issues of our relations and to work on making our partnerships work in the real world. A dose of realism in our personal lives can help us to feel more grounded and secure in the long run.
Venus is in Aquarius from December 7, 2024, to January 2, 2025. While Venus was in Capricorn, we valued enduring connections, reliability, and faithfulness. We took expressing our feelings seriously, and we also took our sweet time warming up to others! Generally, we kept our “cool” in relationships. With Venus now in Aquarius, we still keep our “cool” in relationships, but in a detached and impersonal sort of way. Unconventional set-ups become more appealing.
Bringing the spirit of friendship into romantic relationships is a positive use of Venus in Aquarius energy. Relationships that fairly scream “alternative” appeal to us now. It’s all about being open-minded and somewhat detached with Aquarius energy dominating the love arena. With Venus in Aquarius, it may be better to approach dating casually, with no expectations and no strings. Melodrama and emotionalism are not in favor. We may also find ourselves attracted to–or attracting–people who are not our usual “type.”
This week: On Sunday and Monday, we’re especially open to making changes or venturing into new territory with our feelings, tastes, and pleasures. It’s not an ideal time for making commitments, but it’s a good time to experiment and explore.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, there’s pleasant intensity and a strong desire to connect deeply, but we’re also open to romance. We can be quite sensitive to others’ needs and backstories. We’re also inclined to analyze our relationships or verbalize our affections.
Thursday and Friday bring some emotional distance or awkwardness to our interactions. We may end up saying all the wrong things or signaling disinterest when we don’t intend it. We’re particularly sensitive to what we feel is rejection as we wrestle with restrictions or insecurities.
On Friday and Saturday, we tend to chase a little more meaning or excitement from our relationships, pastimes, and pleasures. Our humor is strong, we may be inspired by our interactions, and we’re open to change. However, we may be restless or not appreciative of what we have, feeling that the grass may be greener elsewhere. It’s best not to overstate or make big promises based only on the good mood of the moment.
Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:
Venus in Capricorn Marry for money and then learn to love ’em: that’s what your heart tells you now, as a new cycle gets underway in your life. Does that sound cynical? Maybe so – but it does reflect the yearning you feel for security and stability now, and it suggests the kind of compromises you may be willing to make to accomplish these objectives.
Venus in Aquarius A love for the unusual, a distaste for stodgy old rules and conventions, a feeling that you’re above the petty bourgeois stuff and nonsense: that’s what a new cycle brings into your life now. (“I love humanity; it’s people I can’t stand!”) Unconventional romantic and social connections are likely at a time like this.
Venus square Chiron November 27. Not a commitment-friendly transit. We are somewhat fearful of investing ourselves emotionally in a relationship.
Venus semi-sextile Mercury November 29. It may be all too easy to say things we don’t mean/feel.
Venus trine Uranus December 1-2. We lose our fear of taking risks at this time, and we happily embrace all that is new, unusual, and out-of-the-ordinary with regards to romantic involvements. We are ready to experiment, but not necessarily ready to commit.
Venus parallel Pluto December 3. The desire for drama and intensity in relationships is with us. Love feelings and relationship issues can be all-consuming now, assuming more importance in our lives than usual. Interactions with others are intense now, and themes of sharing and trust dominate in relationships.
Venus sextile Neptune December 3-4. Unusual attractions that add imagination, inspiration, and emotional “color” to our lives may occur now. We are attuned to the subtleties of human interaction, and we are more inclined to naturally cooperate with others. An imaginative, romantic time.
Venus semi-square Saturn December 5. Feelings of isolation, of not getting what we really want, and of not being loved the way we want to be loved can get in the way of pleasant relations with our partners.
Venus semi-square Mercury December 5-6. Communications between lovers are superficial and unsatisfying, and perhaps awkward. Superficiality in romantic expression may exist now.
Venus conjunct Pluto December 6-7. An extraordinarily passionate time for relationships. We are focused and confident. There is a tendency to want–and to demand–a lot from a partnership or friendship. Powerful and uplifting time for romantic/sexual relationships. New insights into relationships and love. Strong attractions. Relationships begun under this influence are intense and passionate, deep and far from superficial, and can be quite possessive as well.
Venus sesquiquadrate Jupiter December 7-8. We experience a strong desire for more pleasure in our lives, which can be excessive. Take care not to overstate your feelings or to set up unrealistic expectations in your partnerships.
Venus contra-parallel Jupiter December 8. We’re optimistic and ready to take a chance or give someone or something the benefit of the doubt. We are able to make the best of a situation now. Watch for overextension. It’s best not to overstate or make big promises based only on the good mood of the moment.
The Moon & Timing
The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During the Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects.
The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here and is indicative of the “outcome” of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology).
Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart to determine the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass.
The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology. The following tables incorporate the modern planets, but some astrologers do not count Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in void Moon calculations.
The Void-of-Course Moon this Week:
Void-of-course Moon on Monday, December 2nd, from 10:48 AM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Neptune), until the Moon enters Capricorn at 4:10 PM EST.
VOC Moon on Wednesday, December 4th, from 6:35 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a conjunction to Venus), until the Moon enters Aquarius at 11:22 PM EST.
VOC Moon on Friday, December 6th, from 7:02 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Uranus), until the Moon enters Pisces the next day, Saturday, December 7th, at 4:50 AM EST.
December 2024:
Timing with the Moon – Better Periods this Week for Electing New Initiatives
It’s important to note that there are more factors to consider in addition to the windows listed below. The following windows are starting points. For example, you generally don’t want to elect a new venture when a very challenging aspect is applying, and it’s preferable to elect a time when a particularly positive aspect hasn’t yet perfected (is applying rather than separating).
The Moon is waning this week only until the New Moon on the 1st, which is generally considered unfavorable for new beginnings, although with some exceptions. (See Best Time to Start a Business for more details). The Moon is waxing this week after the New Moon on the 1st, which is generally considered favorable for new beginnings, also with some exceptions.
According to principles of timing with the Moon, a window of opportunity occurs this week from Monday, December 2nd, at approximately 4:15 PM EST, until Wednesday, December 4th, at approximately 6:30 PM EST, while the Moon is in Capricorn. This window is better after the Sun square Saturn aspect. Caveat: Mercury is retrograde during this window.

This Week’s Calendar
This Week’s Aspects
Mercury trine Chiron. This is an excellent period for opening up communications with others, as we are more sensitive than usual and more willing to listen. Getting our point across is easier, as it’s not only about which words we choose to communicate, we intuitively express the meaning and intention behind the words. We can effectively use words to heal and comfort just now. We are also more open to new ways of looking at problems or at life in general.
Venus trine Uranus. We lose our fear of taking risks at this time, and we happily embrace all that is new, unusual, and out-of-the-ordinary with regards to romantic involvements as well as financial undertakings. We are ready to experiment, but not ready to commit. Creative inspiration can be had. We have an offbeat, pleasant attitude and people are more willing to socialize. A good time for financial undertakings involving electronics, technology, the internet, metaphysics, and the arts, as well as group activities.
Mercury opposition Jupiter. In an attempt to attach greater meaning to our thoughts and ideas, we may exaggerate, overstate, or overestimate. We strive to find both meaning and purpose to our lives. However, it is all too easy to miss or neglect important details. Our ideas and plans may be too grandiose just now. Lack of clear mental focus, but we may make measurable progress if we can focus.
Sun square Saturn. As we face obstacles to our goals, we begin to see the tools with which we have to overcome them. A heavy dose of realism seems forced upon us under this influence, but our efforts to measure up to expectations can ultimately increase our confidence in our ability to be responsible for ourselves. This influence is a somber one.
Venus sextile Neptune. We are more imaginative and attuned to the world of beauty and romance today. We see the best in people and situations, and we might maneuver things to support this perception. Gentleness with others is the best way to harness this energy. A “magical” time on a romantic and social level is possible now.
Mercury semi-square Pluto. “Suspicious minds” characterize this transit, although if we harness the energy, we can develop strategies to get to the bottom of any matter. Mistrust, investigations. Some level of mental stress, trouble, or pressure.
Venus semi-square Saturn. There may be difficulties relating to others under this influence. People may be cool with their affections and emotionally distant. Avoid new financial undertakings, as they may prove to be “money pits” as time passes. There may be anxiety or troubles with respect to matters concerned with the feelings. Romantic disappointments, unrequited love, separations, and broken engagements are the more difficult manifestations. We tend to lack social confidence at this time and adopt a shy, formal, or reserved social manner. It’s better to use this transit for reflection.
Mercury conjunct Sun. We are especially sharp, communicative, and open at this time, as our wants are aligned with our thoughts. It’s a favorable time for solving problems. What we say or write now has impact, for better or for worse!
Mercury semi-square Venus. Difficulties in social or romantic communication are possible today. On the other hand, we may make more efforts to be polite and to communicate. Hypersensitivity, and lack of mental discipline. Our minds wander.
Sun semi-square Pluto. A tendency to want to control our lives through some form of manipulation is strong during this influence. Meeting with obstacles in our paths, however, can force us into the position of using all of our resources to fight back, and we can discover resources we never knew we had in the process.
Mercury square Saturn. Getting from point A to point B can be a challenge during this transit due to obstacles. Communications may be blocked or delayed, and negative thinking could dominate at this time. Projects we thought were complete may need revision, and others could appear overly critical, insensitive, or sarcastic. It’s difficult to trust our instincts, and we second-guess things automatically under this influence. Avoid signing on the dotted line at this time.
Venus conjunct Pluto. This is an “all or nothing” energy. We have the power of attraction at our disposal. Things shouldn’t be forced, even though the desire to sway, coerce, and manipulate others may be present. Passions are strong and intense. There is a tendency to want–and to demand–a lot from a partnership or friendship. This is a time when we can be focused and confident, especially when it comes to handling business and finances, as well as with regards to love and partnership.
Sun opposition Jupiter. Conflicting urges with regards to what we think we should do and what we want to do can be frustrating now. There can be a tendency to go overboard and to indulge in extravagances. Watch for overestimating your capabilities now. Culminations or surprising changes in a project or ambition might occur now. The urge to grow and expand is strong, but we might overreach.

DECEMBER 1
A New Moon occurs early today in the sign of Sagittarius (at 1:21 AM EST). We get a blast of optimistic, enthusiastic, adventurous, frank, and outspoken energy in our lives. In the weeks ahead, we might focus on goals that will increase our understanding and awareness and give us the courage to expand our horizons. It’s time to nurture our faith, hope, and vision. With this lunation, we are gaining confidence and optimism through a broader perspective. The Moon aligns with retrograde Mercury, and it’s hard to see our path, but our discomfort with the past can be very real now, motivating new beginnings. Mercury is heading toward a trine with Chiron, and we can be especially alert, observant, and willing to learn and understand. We may be discovering new ways of looking at problems or life itself. It’s easier than usual to communicate our message now, although this is less about getting the exact wording right and more about conveying our intentions. It can be a time of building faith or confidence in our skills and talents. We can experience a stronger desire to seek meaning, wisdom, and mental stimulation, and we see important patterns in our lives. Note that later, after Mercury turns direct, it will form a trine to Chiron again at the time of the next New Moon on December 30th, boosting this transit’s themes further this month and next.
DECEMBER 2
Venus forms a trine to Uranus, encouraging our bolder, more innovative natures, socially speaking. We are especially interested in everything new, fresh, invigorating, unusual, and out-of-the-ordinary regarding romantic involvements, entertainment or pleasures, and financial undertakings. We may be experimenting, improvising, and trying new ways of relating and expressing ourselves. We might discover alternative ways to make (or spend) money. Although we can be a little detached, we’re freer with our feelings and find beauty in the unfamiliar or uncommon. Because this trine occurs in Earth signs Capricorn and Taurus, we can delight in approaching our work, money, and practical affairs in new ways. The Moon continues its transit of spirited Sagittarius until 4:10 PM EST, when it heads into conscientious Capricorn. The Capricorn Moon grounds us on the one hand and stimulates our ambitions on the other.
The Moon is void from 10:48 AM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Neptune), until the Moon enters Capricorn at 4:10 PM EST.
DECEMBER 3
The Moon spends the day in the industrious sign of Capricorn, and its sextile to Saturn this afternoon favors steady, step-by-step progress. Venus is parallel Pluto, and we more strongly connect with our deeper desires. We can be incredibly focused on pursuing our interests, especially when handling business and finances or in love and partnership today. We seek more depth in our pursuits and connections. Feeling pleasantly dedicated to our work or ideas can be in focus. Fortunately, we’re in a unique position to see behind us so that we can make better decisions, but it’s best to observe before pushing ahead, especially later today. With retrograde Mercury approaching an opposition to Jupiter, it’s best to avoid jumping to conclusions.
DECEMBER 4
Retrograde Mercury opposes Jupiter early today, and we need room to explore and create, visualize new solutions to problems, and express ourselves freely. However, we are inclined to exaggerate or miss the bigger point. It’s best to watch for a strong tendency to overstate or overestimate in our quest for meaning.
The Sun forms a square with Saturn in the late morning, and we might face obstacles and challenges. We can feel underestimated, unrecognized, unlucky, or unrewarded! Perhaps most importantly, we should watch for setting unattainable standards for ourselves, others, and situations. Our commitment to rest can temporarily interfere with a need for adventure. We face obstacles, but this puts us in the position to recognize our ability to overcome them. It can be a time to face reality or the practical side of a situation and assume more responsibility.
As well, a Venus-Neptune sextile is in play, softening our interactions. With this influence, we want to see the best in people and situations. We tend to approach one another more gently and sensitively. We see the spiritual dimensions of our relationships and aim to treat others with increased compassion. This influence encourages us to open up and embrace loving feelings. It also detaches us just enough from our feelings that we’re less possessive. The Capricorn Moon hooks into this energy as it aligns with Venus this evening, and diplomacy helps us advance our goals. The Moon in Aquarius from 11:22 PM EST onward stimulates our progressive, inventive, and innovative side.
The Moon is void from 6:35 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a conjunction to Venus), until the Moon enters Aquarius at 11:22 PM EST.
DECEMBER 5
The inferior conjunction of Mercury and the Sun today opens a unique window into the past, potentially shaping our future. This marks an exciting time to process recent events and ideas. As we begin to view problems from a fresh perspective, we can anticipate the birth of significant new ideas that could hold real importance in our lives. What we say or write now carries greater weight, for better or worse. Consider that we may not have all the facts to reach a definite conclusion, and we might have to revise plans or decisions later. As we begin to see recent decisions in a new light, a new understanding can redirect us.
Retrograde Mercury also forms a semi-square with Pluto, which can excite some tension or mental distress and worry. We tend to obsess over an issue that we can’t control. We could feel pressured or troubled, and we might take detective work too far. But while we can be somewhat mistrustful under this influence, if we harness the energy and use it for good, we can develop strategies to get to the bottom of a matter.
A minor square between Venus and Saturn is also active today, and there can be some diffidence in our interactions. With this transit, we can be cool with our sentiments and emotionally distant. Anxiety or troubles with our feelings and affections are likely.
The Moon spends the day in impartial Aquarius, although the Moon’s opposition to Mars this morning can excite our passions, especially through our interactions with others, and we could feel less in control of them than usual. We should watch for impulsive decisions and actions.
DECEMBER 6
Mars stations and turns retrograde today, and Mars will remain retrograde until February 23rd, 2025. This retrograde cycle begins in the sign of Leo and will return to Cancer in early January. We are now positioned to re-assess our current projects, approach to getting what we want, and desire natures. Mars energy is essentially turned inward–it’s internalized, intensified, personalized, and perhaps pressurized. There can be passive-aggressive behavior during this cycle. We may be instigating problems or arguments rather than dealing with issues directly.
However, this can be a good time to learn more about our inner motivations and desires, as well as reconsider old projects and interests. The first part of this retrograde is in the sign of Leo. Pride can push us to greater heights, but it can also keep us from expressing our true feelings or prevent us from truly learning from our experiences and from others. With Mars retrograde in Leo until January 6th, we might see more sulking or pulling away to make a point. Leo rules children, creativity, recreational pleasure, entertainment, and romance. As such, we may need to re-assess our approach to these matters. We might feel some frustration or anxiety about these matters. Health issues may be a factor (especially in areas ruled by Leo, including the heart), and accidents are possible throughout the Mars retrograde period. Today, we’re shifting gears, suggesting it’s better to reserve judgment.
Retrograde Mercury forms a semi-square with Venus and a square to Saturn today, complicating communications further. Our words may not reflect what’s in our hearts. As we try to get the words just right, we could fall short with sensitivity. We may be in two minds about a matter–decisions can be hard to come by. Nevertheless, we’re making an extra effort to cooperate. The Mercury-Saturn aspect first occurred on November 12th, while Mercury was direct, and will recur on December 27th. There can be an increase in errors, negative thinking, critique, and miscommunications. Something communicated in November can now come back for correction or refocus. Communication blocks or challenges are possible. We may be dealing with the consequences of guarded, delayed, or contrary communications. Trusting our instincts is difficult, and our thoughts or conversations don’t flow naturally under this influence. Past problems may crop up for review or further attention.
Tonight, Venus aligns with Ceres shortly before both bodies enter Aquarius (early tomorrow). As we pour more heart and special attention into a person, pastime, or project, we can feel pleasantly attached, finding it more natural to nurture and support one another. At the same time, we might recognize an area where we may need to loosen our grip so that we can move on and begin fresh as both Venus and Ceres head toward Pluto in the sign of Aquarius.
The Moon is void from 7:02 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Uranus), until the Moon enters Pisces the next day, Saturday, December 7th, at 4:50 AM EST.
DECEMBER 7
Venus moves into Aquarius today and aligns with Pluto today. Venus will transit Aquarius until January 2nd. We’re moving towards more unconventionality, independence, and freedom in our social relationships. Under this influence, experimental or non-traditional relationships, entertainment, purchases, and pursuits are especially intriguing. Allowing one another fuller freedom of expression and treating others fairly, unselfishly, and impartially are themes. Our tastes and interests incline towards the avant-garde during this cycle.
However, with the conjunction of Venus and Pluto, we’re more protective, intense, or private with our affections, tastes, money, and pleasures today. It’s a time of intense feelings and a stronger connection with our deeper wants. We’re looking to grow, change, or intensify our relationships, money, pleasures, or social lives–or grow ourselves through these things. However, we might try to sway, coerce, and manipulate others or demand more from our relationships or pastimes. This is a time when we can be incredibly focused and perhaps obsessed, especially when interacting. There is a tendency to want–and demand–more than usual from a partnership or friendship.
Neptune stations and turns direct today after retrograde motion since since July 2nd. We may begin to face some illusions we’ve held onto, confusing situations become clearer, and our creativity soars, or at least, we are more inclined to apply our creativity in the real world. We have more faith in our own dreams and visions, in others, and in our belief systems. Increasingly, we seek inspiration from external sources.
Also today, the Sun opposes Jupiter, and recent excesses can come to light, demanding a change or shuffling of priorities. At issue now are conflicting urges regarding what we think we should do versus what we want to do. There are two areas of life where we have a particular need to shine, grow, and improve, represented by the Sun in Sagittarius and Jupiter in Gemini, but these may seem to be in direct conflict with one another at this time. Culminations or unexpected changes in a project or goal might occur, and this can be a time for reaping the rewards. The urge to grow and expand is strong. If we’ve been overreaching, however, it may be time to adjust our expectations. Note that mistakes made now can be more memorable than usual.
The Moon is void until the Moon enters Pisces today at 4:50 AM EST.

Moon Signs This Week:
When the Moon is in Sagittarius
The Moon is at her most optimistic and upbeat in Sagittarius. We are motivated by a need to seek the truth, and we are ready to pursue a new vision. We are not interested in details just now. Instead, we focus on the big picture. New experiences and adventures satisfy a deep emotional need. Spontaneity is the key. We may also be inclined toward overdoing and overstating. We don't want to plan ahead, and prefer to "wing it".
The Moon in Sagittarius generally favors the following activities: Adventurous activities that involve "winging it", travel, higher education, starting publishing projects, advertising, sports, physical activity.
When the Moon is in Capricorn
We become aware of the need for structure and planning ahead. We also instinctively are aware of the limitations of time. We are motivated by a desire for success. Achievement and manifestation are most important to us now. We are resourceful and don't want to waste time, energy, or resources. This can be a very sober influence--even a depressing one. However, it can also be a productive time when we look reality in the eye.
The Moon in Capricorn generally favors the following activities: Long-term activities that yield slow but steady results, practical undertakings, career issues, making a business plan, practical investments.
When the Moon is in Aquarius
Attraction to all that is new and unusual, and an instinctive need for improvement, characterize the Moon in Aquarius. Reactions are more intellectual than emotional, and interactions are more impersonal than personal, under this influence. This is a time that promotes social gatherings, dealing with group ideals and goals for the future, brainstorming, new ideas, and progressive changes. We are open to new methods of doing things and we have our eye on the future. It can be hard to stick to schedules now, as personal freedom is most important to us.
The Moon in Aquarius generally favors the following activities: Unusual or radical undertakings, social pursuits, group projects, trying something new, joining a group.
When the Moon is in Pisces
We may not want to face reality while the Moon is in dreamy, impressionable Pisces. It can be a wistful, sensitive, intuitive, and compassionate time. We are especially imaginative, and our intuition reigns under this influence. Boundaries and walls come down, as Pisces energy merges and blends. It's a time when details are overlooked and feelings defy description.
The Moon in Pisces generally favors the following activities: Imaginative undertakings, mystical or spiritual pursuits, inner development, music and drama, going on a retreat, activities involving water.
Upcoming Weeks: Calendars
THIS WEEK’S PLANETARY POSITIONS BY SIGN (General Trends):
Sun in Sagittarius You’re now embarking on a trek into a land of dreams – not passive daydreams, but vibrant visions of what may be. The time has come to stop looking at the world as it is and asking why. Now’s the time to imagine the world as it could be, and the question has become: “Why not?” You also cannot do everything you imagine now, but you cannot do anything you don’t KNOW you can do – so believe, and dare to make it happen! This means expanding your mind, your belief system, your whole base of knowledge and experience. Time’s a wastin’ – let no grass grow between your toes!
Mercury in Sagittarius A time of expanding your mental horizons is at hand. Religion, philosophy, law, and education are some of the things that may have special importance for you now. Being in touch with faraway people and places satisfies an intellectual yearning – curiosity will take you anywhere and maybe everywhere.
Mars in Leo The thrill of the chase, the smell of the greasepaint, the roar of the crowd: that’s what gets your juices flowing now that you’ve entered a new cycle. To be appreciated, to be admired (adored, even) – that’s what you crave. It’s a time of creativity, drama, and passion; a time when grabbing the spotlight and stealing the scene gives you a thrill. Is winning everything? No – but it’s way ahead of whatever comes in second!
Jupiter in Gemini Facilitating the transfer of ideas and information takes on a special priority for you now. Writing, studying, and communicating play a bigger role in your life as a result. The belief that well-informed people will make the right decisions becomes an article of faith. Just remember: sometimes people know the right thing to do and STILL do something different!
Saturn in Pisces Making peace with the past, coming to terms with karmic debts: these are some of the issues that confront you as a new phase begins in your life. Failure to face these things can cause setbacks and put obstacles in your path. Learn to look beyond the narrowly personal and selfish or you’ll get in over your head.
Uranus in Taurus Practicality and ingenuity combine as powerful drives in your life now that you have begun a new cycle. Taking innovative concepts and making them real and practical is your strong suit; getting stuck in the mud is to be avoided at all costs. Financial savvy, inventiveness, worldly genius.
Neptune in Pisces Things spiritual and psychic take the driver’s seat of your imagination as you begin a new cycle. The fine arts and all manner of fantasies assume a larger-than-life importance. Surrendering to fate, karma, and other powers greater than merely mortal may be seen as the ultimate liberation. If all is Maya (illusion), what is the reality that gives rise to the world of appearances?
Pluto in Aquarius Reform, revolution, a rejection of the past and a focus on the future: these are the signatures of the new phase now beginning in your life. Tradition becomes irrelevant, and the conventional wisdom is revealed as dogma or outright nonsense – and what’s the difference, really? Radical changes in all things social and intellectual.
