Void of Course Dates this Month
On August 4th, the New Moon occurs in Leo. This lunation prompts us to begin anew, particularly with our creative, romantic, and self-expressive goals. This is a time to uncover and share the things that make us special– our unique, creative powers. We might aim to allow our “inner child” to come out and play, and possibly commit to plans related to games, sports, recreation, speculation, hobbies, children, romance, and dating.
This lunation harmonizes with Mars and Jupiter as these planets approach alignment in the sign of Gemini. We’re enterprising and confident with our new plans.
On August 5th, Mercury turns retrograde. Mercury is retrograde in the signs of Virgo and Leo from August 5th to 28th. This retrograde cycle is strong for reviewing our work, health, routines, and creative or recreational pursuits. We look at projects, items, situations, problems, and even people in new ways. There can be information clogs that push this new perspective–as we wait, we become more resourceful and creative!
On the 14th, retrograde Mercury returns to Leo. On August 18th, the Sun and retrograde Mercury meet, allowing the Sun to catch up with Mercury as Mercury was ahead of the Sun by degree since mid-June. Symbolically, we may have been overthinking and getting ahead of ourselves, but we’re now beginning to feel caught up. Mercury turns direct on the 28th, when information begins to unclog.
On August 7th, Jupiter forms a sesquiquadrate with Pluto, and events or circumstances can subtly challenge our beliefs, kickstarting a need for an attitude change during this period. We might struggle between the desire to learn through experience and the compulsion to follow our ambitions. It’s crucial to find a balance in our journey of growth and advancement, as taking shortcuts or pushing too hard can ultimately set us back. While it can be tempting now, we should avoid exaggerating our importance or power to ourselves, as it’s easier to make costly mistakes this way.
On August 19th, a Full Moon occurs in the sign of Aquarius, awakening us to the need for others or to answer to humanitarian impulses. This lunation reminds us of our needs for friendship, community, as well as impartiality and objectivity. We cannot lose sight of our larger goals and our need to give back to the community or group that supports us.
This lunation is square Uranus, suggesting some tense, rebellious energy connected to our realizations and epiphanies. The Sun is aligned with retrograde Mercury, having just formed an inferior conjunction the day before, and our revelations are pivotal and surprising. While we’re anxious to move forward, we’re temporarily focusing on the past.
On August 19th, Jupiter forms a square with Saturn, and circumstances present us with an opportunity for personal or professional growth, although the rewards may be delayed. We must restructure our lives or plans in accordance with rules, laws, limits, and the demands of reality. Ultimately, this process can lead to a stronger, more resilient version of ourselves or our projects.
This can be a time of temporary fluctuating finances, increased personal commitments, sudden obstacles to our goals, energy dips, or ups and downs with our faith/outlook. We might ask ourselves, “Why am I doing this?” What for?” or “What’s the point?” more frequently. There can be a sense that we’re not in the right place at the right time during this phase.
This is its first of three perfections. The second will occur on December 24th, 2024, and the third on June 15th, 2025. During this period, it is crucial to breathe new life into old plans rather than strike out with a new plan altogether. We may need to make sacrifices in one area of our lives to grow in another. It’s important not to overextend ourselves now and to avoid attempting easy fixes or shortcuts. The need to adjust our expectations is a natural part of the process, and with patience and perseverance, we can confidently navigate current obstacles and challenges.
