Void of Course Dates this Month
On December 1st, the New Moon occurs in the sign of Sagittarius. This lunation prompts a new beginning and awakens the adventurer in us. It prompts a focus on goals that increase our understanding and awareness, give us the courage to expand our horizons, and gain confidence and optimism through a broader perspective. With this potent Sagittarius energy, we discover ways to transcend the details of day-to-day life and nurture our faith, hope, and vision. It’s the first of two New Moons in December this year.
This New Moon forms a trine with Mars, supporting our energy and motivation levels on the one hand, and a square with Saturn, suggesting blocks to our efforts to begin anew on the other.
On December 6th, Mars stations and turns retrograde and will remain retrograde until February 23rd, 2025, beginning in the sign of Leo and returning to Cancer in early January. We are now in the position to re-assess our current projects, our approach to getting what we want, and our desire nature. Mars energy is essentially turned inward–it’s internalized, intensified, personalized, and perhaps pressurized. There can be passive-aggressive behavior during this cycle. We may be instigating problems or arguments rather than dealing with issues directly. However, this can be a good time to learn more about our inner motivations and desires, as well as to reconsider old projects and interests.
The first part of this retrograde is in the sign of Leo. Pride can push us to greater heights, but it can also keep us from expressing our true feelings or prevent us from truly learning from our experiences and from others. With Mars retrograde in Leo, we might see more sulking or pulling away to make a point. Leo rules children, creativity, recreational pleasure, entertainment, and romance. As such, we may need to re-assess our approach to these matters. We might feel some frustration or anxiety about these matters. Health issues may be a factor (especially in areas ruled by Leo, including the heart), and accidents a possibility throughout the Mars retrograde period. See the full discussion of Mars retrograde and Mars retrograde on the event calendar.
On December 7th, Neptune stations and turns direct after retrograde motion since July 2nd. We may begin to face some illusions we’ve held onto, confusing situations become clearer, and our creativity soars, or at least, we are more inclined to apply our creativity in the real world. We have more faith in our own dreams and visions, in others, and in our belief systems. Increasingly, we seek inspiration from external sources.
On December 13th, Jupiter forms a sesquiquadrate with Pluto, and events or circumstances can subtly challenge our beliefs, kickstarting a need for an attitude change. We might struggle between the desire to learn through experience and the compulsion to follow our ambitions. It’s crucial to find a balance in our journey of growth and advancement, as taking shortcuts or pushing too hard can ultimately set us back. While it can be tempting now, we should avoid exaggerating our importance or power to ourselves, as it’s easier to make costly mistakes this way.
On December 15th, a Full Moon occurs in the sign of Gemini. This lunation can bring sudden awareness to our lives and a rather urgent “need to know.” We may want to get an important message across, finish a communications project, or make an announcement. Travel and communications are in strong focus. Consider that Gemini’s ruler, Mercury, stations and turns direct on the same day as this Full Moon, skewing perceptions.
On December 15th, Mercury stations and turns direct after retrograde motion since November 25th. Mercury moves in direct motion over the same degrees it traveled in retrograde motion until January 2nd–this is also called its post-retrograde shadow. We’ve been in a good position to reevaluate our projects, visions, and goals, and we’ve given more thought to their meaning. Now, Mercury retraces its steps and information unclogs.
On December 24th, Jupiter forms a square with Saturn. This is the second of three perfections of this outer-planet transit with longer-term influence. [The previous perfection was on August 19th, and the next and final one is on June 15th, 2025, although the third perfection will occur while Jupiter is in Cancer and Saturn is in Aries.]
With this transit, circumstances present us with an opportunity for personal or professional growth, although the rewards may be delayed. We must restructure our lives or plans in accordance with rules, laws, limits, and the demands of reality. Ultimately, this process can lead to a stronger, more resilient version of ourselves or our projects.
This can be a time of temporary fluctuating finances, increased personal commitments, sudden obstacles to our goals, energy dips, or ups and downs with our faith/outlook. We might ask ourselves, “Why am I doing this?” What for?” or “What’s the point?” more frequently. There can be a sense that we’re not in the right place at the right time during this phase.
During this period, it is crucial to breathe new life into old plans rather than strike out with a new plan altogether. We may need to make sacrifices in one area of our lives to grow in another. It’s important not to overextend ourselves now and to avoid attempting easy fixes or shortcuts. The need to adjust our expectations is a natural part of the process, and with patience and perseverance, we can confidently navigate current obstacles and challenges.
On December 29th, Chiron stations and turns direct after retrograde motion since July 26th. Emotional truths about matters we’ve been avoiding or confused about begin to emerge now and in the coming weeks. While not always comfortable revelations, they can serve to motivate us to take appropriate action.
On December 30th, the second New Moon of the month occurs in the sign of Capricorn, stirring a new beginning. We recognize that having some boundaries and rules in place frees us up to enjoy ourselves as we meet our responsibilities. This lunation offers us the opportunity to set practical, attainable goals and work on developing maturity, self-discipline, and common sense. We’re prompted to consider and prepare for the future.

This Month’s Overview Horoscopes
The following horoscopes outline how the above astrological influences might affect each individual sign.
Overview horoscopes fill in here as I write them, ideally during the week before the month begins. It is not unusual to see some signs temporarily missing as I write the twelve of them over the course of a few days, starting with the featured sign of the month (birthday month).
AriesDecember 2024 Monthly Horoscope Overview for Aries: December can be a month of some backtracking and delays that allow you to refine and improve your projects, dear Aries. However, it's also an important month for getting to a much better place mentally. Redoing work that you thought was complete or returning to old material or conversations and problems can make you feel a little stuck, but you're making substantial progress. In the first few weeks of December, you're motivated to explore, learn, and discover. Excitement and enthusiasm to soak in information and acquire knowledge figures strongly now. You want to move out of your comfort zone when it comes to learning, thinking, and doing, and while the New Moon on the 1st can bring out opportunities to do so, Mercury's retrograde until the 15th suggests it's best to pace yourself. To navigate this, consider focusing on one area of learning at a time and revisiting past lessons to deepen your understanding. December is a strong period for editing, refining, and fine-tuning work, so take this time to perfect your projects. Indeed, Mars turns retrograde on the 6th, making going after what you want a little more complicated than you might expect. Even before this date, Mars is creeping along, and as your fiery, energetic ruler, you may feel that life is slowing down or that you don't have the usual energy and direction. You can take some time to orient yourself to this, but once you do, you might find that you benefit from taking extra time to pause, reflect, and look back. Mars is retrograde until February 23rd, and as you grow accustomed to this energy, you'll begin to realize that reviewing, renewing, and recycling can be the most rewarding activities – look to projects you've already begun in the past with renewed interest and motivation, for example. Consider areas of your life that you may have charged past or through that could use some revamping or extra attention. You may find some hidden gems in the process. Note that Mars is retrograde in your solar fifth house for the first part of the retrograde Mars journey (until January 6th), and you could feel a little stuck creatively speaking. There can be complications in your romantic life or leisure world. Avoidance is a strong tendency right now, but not advised. It's time to make some changes in your approach to pursuing your desires and giving others some space. Mars will later back up into your home and family sector (from January 6th), but for now, increased attention to your creative and recreational activities is likely. This is a time to reimagine how you approach recreation, work-play balance, lovers, love interests, self-expression, and dating. You may decide to employ more strategy or think ahead before jumping in. You can turn to the past for answers, and slowdowns or delays in projects--coupled with evolving motivation and interest levels--can be part of the picture. There can be a change of heart, or you could be questioning what you love, and a new approach becomes necessary. There may be a frustrating situation that leaves you feeling blocked from pursuing your desires or confused about what you want. You may be dealing with a perplexing social situation for which there seems to be no real solution, for example, at least not in the short term. Try not to project fantasies on people and situations, as you may make more of them than they deserve, good or bad! Avoid making a stand or show for now, as you may regret it later when your head is clearer. Expect a satisfying moment of gaining perspective and drawing meaningful conclusions around the 4-5. This period holds the potential for a significant discovery or connection. If you've been working on projects for publishing, this can be a busy and important time for refinements. The temptation may be to release a work or complete a project or study before you're entirely ready, but it's important to exercise patience. While there is a strong theme of spirit, learning, and exploration, especially with a New Moon in your adventure sector on the 1st, you have Venus at the top of your solar chart until the 7th. Later, the Sun will head there too. As such, career, public life, responsibilities, obligations, long-term goals, and direction are all supporting and sometimes main themes for you in December. With Venus here, you are pulling in desirable attention, and you may receive some pleasant recognition or especially enjoy your work or functions. From the 7th onward, Venus moves in harmony with your sign, gracing the social sector of your solar chart. This transit encourages harmony, balance, and general benefits to your social life. It helps balance things out, too. A Full Moon brings a mentally busy window around the 15th at the same time that Mercury ends its retrograde. Your personal interests, communication, connectedness, and transportation are all big themes now. From the 21st, you're more invested in your performance and can be highly motivated to take care of business. Your ambitions are stirring, and you could be in higher demand than usual, both personally and professionally. You're easing into a more performance-oriented phase and the New Moon on the 30th clinches it. The last week of December is also strong for making connections that feel fated or meant to be. |
TaurusDecember 2024 Monthly Overview Horoscope for Taurus: December is a period of transformations and renovations for you, dear Taurus, mostly on an emotional level. You're returning to old problems with a different attitude, taking care of unfinished business, and making refinements to projects that are not quite complete. In the process, you could find some hidden gems from the past. Dependencies can be a big issue now – the desire to feel more independent and empowered can be strong, and you're taking the steps necessary to make these changes. The month brings a nudge toward looking within for answers and seeking deeper involvement in (or commitment to) a project, venture, or relationship. You're not interested in fluff at the moment as you pursue more meaningful or absorbing experiences with the Sun in your intimacy sector until the 21st, and Mercury is there all month. As such, some endeavors are likely to fall by the wayside. Even so, Venus continues its transit of your solar ninth house until the 7th, and this encourages a more active and spontaneous expression of your feelings. You can have a stronger desire to learn and expand your knowledge and experiences. From the 6th, Mars is retrograde and will remain so until February 23rd. For the first four and a half weeks of the retrograde, it's in your home and family sector, bringing tricky energy with domestic affairs. Watch for passive-aggressive behavior. Home repairs may be needed, and it's a good time to reimagine how you organize your home life and make it a happier place. Certain endeavors may not go as planned, and there may be a need for a "plan B." This may not the best time for beginning a long-term relationship or returning to an old one, but it's a fine time to look at things from a different perspective. Patience is a real virtue now. Try not to stir the pot and avoid confrontations until you know where you truly stand on an issue. It can be challenging to be indifferent towards others, but it can be emotionally freeing to do so from time to time, as you can too easily get all riled up and this can interfere with success and happiness. Consider being kinder to yourself by looking the other way when appropriate. Besides affecting the physical and mundane affairs surrounding family and home life, retrograde Mars can also stir up some buried emotional frustrations. Issues you overlooked or thought were resolved long ago can resurface now. If you're dealing with tension, backtracking, delays, or repairs, an occasional change of scene might help your overall mood. Despite minor inconveniences, you're on a path to new and improved home life and relations with family. This process can take months, but the work you do now can bring rewards later. It's a good time to deal with buried anger and resentment, as well as for reviewing and fine-tuning projects around the home. Venus moves into your career and reputation sector on the 7th, and the weeks ahead of this date are suitable for public relations and appeal. Instead, it can be a more relaxed, satisfying period for relating with higher-ups and business associates. Your reputation can get a boost now. Fortunately, also from the 7th onward, friendships, goals, and alliances may turn a corner. Your faith in these things strengthens, perhaps after some demotivation. You might hear from a friend after a long absence or pick up an old project and begin reworking it. Money matters can reach a head around the 15th. On this date, Mercury, ruler of your resources sector, ends its retrograde, and the Full Moon occurs in the same area of your solar chart. You can have revelations or realizations revolving around finances, valuables, or values. You might have the opportunity to employ some of your special talents, and this can attract friendly interest your way. You’re also gathering more inspiration and determination to take charge and do something about problem areas. The last week of the month/year brings your needs for life experience, learning, and excitement to the fore. You may be looking for ways to add to your life experience through education, mingling, or various forms of adventure-seeking. The routine elements of your life seem to be more drab and dull in your mind's eye now. The New Moon on the 30th pushes these themes further--you now feel the need to formulate plans. You might battle some restlessness with your strong desire to expand your horizons, but aim to pace yourself for peace of mind. You could feel renewed by a new perspective on your life or a new and improved vision of what you want to do in the future. |
GeminiDecember 2024 Monthly Overview Horoscope for Gemini: Relationships are a strong focal point this month, dear Gemini, and while new beginnings are on the horizon, some backtracking is likely now. It’s a time of going over old problems, conversations, and negotiations. Mercury’s retrograde until the 15th points to a period when others may not always come through for you in the usual ways. Mars turns retrograde on the 6th, and motivation levels come under question. However, it's also a strong month for enjoying different experiences and perspectives. You're bound to learn a lot about what you want and need. Your interactions with others hold tremendous potential for food for thought and interesting perspectives. Let others lead the talks more often now, and listen carefully. You are especially accommodating, and there's a big focus on your social life and a significant relationship. There may be a turning point in a relationship, or you might reimagine your projects, pursuits, and interactions in useful ways. The New Moon on the 1st can push for a new beginning on the relationship front. If you need a fresh start, this is a time to begin anew, even if it's all in an attitude or approach. Until the 7th, your feelings are going through a regeneration of sorts as Venus continues its transit of your solar eighth house. This is one of the better periods of the year for attracting the support you need, either material or emotional. It’s also good for getting the most out of others’ talents and resources. Feelings of love and attachment intensify. While other themes in your life point to a generally more connected period of the year for you, this Venus transit suggests some introversion or tendency to enjoy private time. It also implies that you’re taking things to heart more than you show. However, Mars retrograde from the 6th forward (until February 23rd) can complicate your understanding of your desires. Some level of redirection or reorientation is likely with this shift. Usually, with Mars in your solar third house all month, the pace is quick. With Mars moving so very slowly and retrograding, there can be a desire to get a lot done, but blocks and delays come into play; or, there can be a lot to do, but you’re battling waning motivation and energy levels. Either way, you can feel quite frustrated until you accept the pace and find ways to work with it rather than against it. Finding the time or energy to run errands and handle paperwork may be challenging this month. There can also be some disagreements or blocks with siblings, neighbors, or acquaintances or delays and challenges with education or travel plans. However, this can be a wonderful time for looking to past ideas, projects, and mental interests and finding treasures in these. It can also be suitable for editing, changing, and otherwise making improvements. Slowing down can be good for you now. Watch for a tendency to say too much or speak/react too quickly. Physical and emotional attractions can be intense but complex. You could end up rediscovering a desire or passion that you left behind. From the 7th onward, Venus boosts your appeal and courage to enjoy different things. This transits stirs a love of learning and an exploration of your tastes and interests. With Venus in cahoots with Pluto and Ceres, aim to channel your passion into a worthy cause or plan. It's a time to feel a stronger sense of purpose through a learning program or connection. Aim to harness this creative, positive energy. A personal revelation or relationship drama can occur around the 15th when the Moon is Full in your sign, and the outcome can be quite positive. This is the same date Mercury ends its retrograde, and something's unblocking. Trusting your intuition now that Neptune is direct also comes more readily now. It’s a time of discovery as you recognize your feelings on a matter. The Sun moves into your solar eighth house on the 21st, and you can learn much from observation and reflection. The New Moon on the 30th is the second New Moon of the month, but this one's about starting anew with passion projects, intimate relationships, and shared money or resources. The last week of December stands out for personal appeal. Love can blossom while exploring different ideas, activities, and places. Some of the recent pressures on work and performance tone down. A new direction, approach, or beginning is in store, mainly related to power dynamics, money, or support. With Chiron's direct turn, putting your sensitivities to good use can mean helping and understanding others rather than allowing insecurities to slow you down. |
CancerDecember 2024 Monthly Overview Horoscope for Cancer: December can be a period of adjustments for you, dear Cancer, with the Sun in your solar sixth house of work, health, and habits for the first three weeks. This year, you have retrograde Mercury and Mars complicating matters, which can point to some redoing, reorganizing, and extra details to take care of before you can feel that you’re truly done and ready to move forward. Be as patient as possible and work at getting things right. In fact, the month brings some warmth to your relationships and faith to your outlook. Entirely new endeavors may be on the horizon, but for now, you’ll be in a better place if you focus on projects already in motion. In fact, you might find some hidden gems from the past that you can now approach in a new way. The recycling of projects and ideas can be extraordinarily successful, even if the rewards aren't instant. There is a tendency to stay or operate in the background, but you retain a lot of power in this position. In fact, your observational skills are tremendous now. You might benefit from identifying attachments that are dragging you down. Until the 7th, a Venus transit emphasizes happy or helpful people in your social circle. If you have any need for peace-making, it’s a great time for doing so. You might also benefit from others’ input and help. It may be that you’re craving others’ company, and sharing pleasures and activities can be particularly appealing now. Mars turns retrograde on the 6th and will remain so until February 23rd. Later in the cycle (from January 6th forward), Mars will return to your sign, but for the first leg of this cycle, Mars is retrograding in your finances and resources sector. Even before the 6th, Mars is moving very slowly through your sector of money, personal possessions, and natural talents. While matters surrounding these things can seem to be moving similarly slowly, this gives you the chance to take a second look at problem areas you may have missed in the past. Watch for struggles with money or values. There can be some confusion, misunderstandings, and possibly resentments surrounding money, ownership, valuables, matters of self-worth, and even your career or reputation during this retrograde Mars cycle. It’s important to watch spending and pay attention to fine print when purchasing or committing. You could easily regret things later, so take the time to think about it before you leap forward. However, this can also be a time for seeing new ways to make money or for discovering lost items. It’s a reasonable period for redesigning your budget. A review of money matters may be necessary and quite beneficial now. Possessiveness or competitiveness can complicate things this month, especially since people are not being very direct. You might also be feeling in the dark or on the fence emotionally, and you could too easily concentrate on things that have been lost or buried. Issues of sharing, ownership, and support can be touchy. Seek out a compromise. From the 7th onward, you’re seeking more depth from your relationships or projects. You might thoroughly enjoy an absorbing activity, some research, or solving a mystery. Your focus on your daily routines, fitness, health, nutrition, work, and habits is strong in the first weeks of December. It's not the best cycle for recognition or worldly success, but it's powerful for self-development and laying the groundwork for future success. The New Moon on the 1st can ignite a strong desire to excel in your work and health pursuits. Your approach can be off-and-on, but when you’re “on”, you are going the extra distance. You might also be exploring alternative therapies and approaches to health and fitness. Do watch for a business-like insensitivity or impatience with people with whom you share daily activities that you may not intend until the 15th. But while it's important to pay particular attention to your work and chores this month, if you’re overdoing this and failing to take care of your need for downtime, you’ll get a reminder around the 15th. This is when a Full Moon lights up your privacy sector, encouraging you to take better care of your emotional health. The last week of the month brings a stronger focus on relationships. You’re also more sensitive to imbalances in your life now, and you may be seeking more harmony. The Sun is in your partnership sector from the 21st forward, and the New Moon on the 30th clinches your need for more from your relationships. Aim to set intentions and goals that better reflect your wants, needs, and expectations of others at the time of this New Moon as you near the end of the year and the start of a new one. Energies are powerful for a fresh start or turning point. |
LeoThe sector of your solar chart that rules creativity, romance, entertainment, self-expression, and pleasure is in stronger focus in December, dear Leo. While the New Moon on the first of the month inspires new beginnings and fresh starts in these areas of life, Mercury's retrograde in the same sector, active until the 15th, pulls your attention to the past. In order to clear the way for a fresh start, you may need to take care of some unfinished business. Projects might be on hold until you finish up some important details. Motivation and enthusiasm may take a bit of a nosedive around the 6th. Try not to make new commitments until you are certain you have a handle on current ones. Until the 7th, you might make beneficial connections through the pursuit of your work and health goals or because of a stronger interest in these things. It's a good time for personal enjoyment of projects, organizing, list making, watching your nutrition, and the like. After the New Moon on the 1st, you can fee inspired, particularly on creative or romantic levels, although there can be some drama in the mix. It's a creative, interactive period for you, particularly with Mars in your sign, convincing you to go after what you want. This is a time for reconnecting with your "inner child." Ideally, you're feeling happier and freer. You're motivated to pursue your passions. However, romantic relationships can be a little complicated, or you may be focused on a past connection. Those projects or relationships that have been holding you back from expressing your true, creative self may come under scrutiny. In fact, Mars turns retrograde in your sign on the 6th. Watch that you don't book yourself solid early in the month, as there can be a change of heart or slowdowns occurring later. You may not feel like following through, or you simply can't. While Mars will be retrograde until February 23rd, it spends only the first four and a half weeks retrograde in Leo. Certainly, you can be more introspective during this retrograde. It's not that you lack confidence, but you're more inclined to look within for answers. Questioning your plans is likely and, in fact, entirely necessary. The temptation to push ahead with personal plans is strong, but circumstances could have you feeling stuck. Watch for temper tantrums as you'll be strongest if you tame impatience and work on projects that need fine-tuning or completion rather than adding more to your plate. Avoid dwelling on matters you can't control, even with buried frustrations emerging in unexpected ways. The tendency to stew and to let things get to you is strong. Some disconnects can occur but can also lead to greater understanding down the line. For now, try not to push matters (or others). Give them space, and give yourself space as well. Venus visiting your partnership sector from the 7th onward can enhance and improve companionability and popularity. You'll find it mostly easy to harmonize with others. You're in good shape for enhancing and boosting a close relationship. This influence can mitigate some of the complications of Mars retrograde in your sign. You can be mainly focused on coming to a balance in a relationship, and negotiations are fair and prosperous. The secret to happiness seems to be balance and patience. Still, the Venus-Mars opposition on the 11th to the 12th can be strong on you with Mars in your sign. Someone may be frustrated with you, and perhaps that person hopes you'll intuit what they truly want, but it can be difficult to pinpoint. Reactions can be strong now. Try to detach yourself emotionally just enough to stay calm and work things out, but not so much that others think you're mocking them. You can learn a lot about yourself from whatever is triggered now. The Full Moon on the 15th can bring drama to your social life or feelings about friendship to bloom. This is a time for putting something negative behind you. It's also when information you've been waiting for begins to trickle in with the end of Mercury's retrograde. The Sun heads into your work and health sector on the 21st, and energy is shifting towards taking care of business. You're moving into a period of increased focus on routines and health, and the New Moon on the 30th clinches it. You're motivated to start fresh with your daily affairs and routines. The last week of the month/year also brings stronger faith in your intuition. While you’re not yet ready to jump into action, you are absorbing a tremendous amount from your environment. You feel better equipped mentally and emotionally to deal with issues that were buried or swept under the carpet. Connecting with someone over a shared ideal or belief is possible. |
VirgoYou seek more familiarity, comfort, quiet, and private time in your life in the first few weeks of December, dear Virgo. The month can feature renovations and improvements in your home or with family relationships. You have a chance to begin anew after the New Moon on the 1st of the month, which might involve some reorganizing. There may be some backtracking over old problems and conversations, and perhaps even contracts and negotiations. Preexisting problems can blow up, but are likely to blow over soon enough. Energy levels are not at their best this month, so pay attention to your body's signals for more rest. Your major focus is on settling in and keeping the peace, and your attention to domestic matters brings rewards and positive feedback. There can be big ideas and meaningful conversations or ideas related to long-term projects, improving security, family, and home. Venus continues to transit in harmony with your sign until the 7th, however, bringing graciousness, the power of attraction, an urge to interact, and considerable charm to your world. This is a pleasant transit for you. It's a time when you tend to follow your heart's desire and you can be more romantic than usual or receive extra romantic attention. Love can be found or enhanced more readily while pursuing entertainment and pleasure, or you might discover what you love in your hobbies and pastimes. As Mars turns retrograde on the 6th, certain initiatives slow down. With Mercury, your ruler, also retro until the 15th, the message is clear: take things easy. The entire Mars retrograde period spans December 6th to February 23rd, and the first leg of it occurs in your privacy sector (until January 6th). You can feel driven by unusual yearnings and desires at this time. If you don't honor your need for downtime and rest, circumstances can conspire to remind you or enforce it upon you. Keep in mind that taking things slow can be beneficial, allowing you to reassess and make more informed decisions. Health or emotional issues might slow you down and occasionally pull you out of the routines of your daily life, and it can feel like this happens at the worst times. In general, it's not the best time to ask for commitments from others or to make them yourself. Living in the moment and enjoying it without too many expectations is your best bet, as long as you don't go overboard with this. You can also benefit from reflecting on the past and learning from it. While you may be reconsidering certain recent endings, you may simply need a little more time to process things before moving forward, and this retrograde cycle is affording you this option. You may seem quite preoccupied, which can be due to secret conflicts or personal matters weighing on your mind. Usually this time of year is strong for you to start brand-new endeavors. However, this time around, you're better off working on what you have and making edits than you are pushing something new forward. Take things slowly but surely and aim to take changes of plans in stride. From the 7th forward, you're focusing on bringing harmony to your daily life, including your working environment. There may be social opportunities arising through your work or your daily routines or pursuit of good health. You can learn valuable information that helps further your ambitions or supports your health goals. Still, from the 11th to the 12th, Venus opposes retrograde Mars, and you can face stubbornness in others. Acknowledge whatever feelings are coming to the surface at this time, even if they seem to be irrational, but keep in mind that you don't have to act on them yet. Watch for impulsive moves, as they're more likely to be memorable and to have a long-term impact. Neptune turns direct on the 7th after over five months of retrograde motion, and you enjoy a refreshment of your spirit and more faith in a relationship or friendship. Focusing on the positive, beautiful, and magical qualities of life and love can be rewarding. While clarity or definition isn’t yet in the cards, you’re likely to feel far less overwhelmed, and you start the work of building faith in yourself to take charge of your comfort levels in your significant relationships. A career matter or responsibility can loom around the Full Moon on the 15th, but this can also be a time of recognition for your hard work. The drive to improve your home life can also motivate you to work harder or perhaps to pursue a promotion or better position. It's also on this mid-month date that your ruler, Mercury, ends its retrograde cycle, and information you've been waiting for in can begin to come in. The Sun heads into your creative, romantic, and playful solar fifth house on the 21st, and it's a strong time to make significant emotional and creative changes that contribute to a sense of personal empowerment. The last week of December is busy, and your interests evolve. You're more confident and ready to enjoy yourself. The New Moon on the 30th--the second New Moon of the month--is celebratory. It can usher in a new beginning with love, romance, creativity, pleasure, entertainment, or leisure. |
LibraDecember 2024 Monthly Horoscope Overview for Libra: Learning, errands, paperwork, making connections, and reaching out are in high focus as December begins, dear Libra. While it can be all too easy to scatter your energy, it's a time to follow your curiosity and gather bits of helpful information. Some confusion or stalling is likely, however, with Mercury retrograde until the 15th and Mars retrograde from the 6th. There can be some backtracking and revisiting old issues in a friendship. But December is important for sorting out problems and making practical adjustments that will benefit you down the road, particularly related to your studies, learning, transportation, and communications. December is a month of curiosity and special interests, as well as learning and busy work. As it advances, though, a theme of family and home life comes into stronger focus. The first few weeks are better for diversifying than concentrated focus. Be careful that you don't make all of your decisions from the head or your ego and ignore your heart in the process. A Venus transit continues to awaken a self-protective or cautious part of you until the 7th, particularly with your affections, spending habits, and pleasures. Familiarity and security are themes, and the Sun gets on board from the 21st forward. You could be building up your sense of security and self-confidence. The New Moon on the 1st is reasonably good for new initiatives, retrogrades point to the need to revamp projects already in progress. Feel the inspiration, but hold off on making big commitments until you're certain your new ideas have staying power. Mars is retrograde from the 6th to February 23rd. In the first leg of this retrograde cycle (until January 6th), your social life can be complicated. A friend may be distant, for example, or friendships require more care. Misunderstandings can be frequent, and dilemmas can arise. You might also take this time to reassess or reimagine your happiness goals, desires, partnership needs, and group associations. The past can look a little more tempting at this time but watch for an obsessive focus on problems of the past. Take the time to review your feelings, but don't let them distract you from your current path for too much time. Later in the Mars retrograde cycle (from January 6th to February 23rd), you'll be reassessing long-term goals and possibly your career path or recent choices. Prepare for this, but for now, pay particular attention to how you might improve your life on a social level. You could return to old groups or even friendships, but not all answers lie in the past, so take a second look while keeping your options open. Venus moves into your pleasure, joy, romance, and creativity sector on the 7th. This transit is strong for your powers of attraction and for the pleasure factor in your life, in general. You may very well make a special, quality connection with someone or a project. Venus and Mars form an opposition on the 11th to the 12th, however, and you might watch for impulsive decision-making and reactions that may be regrettable. The results of conflicts can be exciting and stimulating, ultimately, but possibly less than satisfying at the moment. Someone could be frustrated with your behavior or seeking your attention now. Also from the 7th forward, you’re renewing your faith in what you do–or in the idea that more meaningfulness is to come. With Neptune’s change of direction, your life doesn’t straighten out overnight, but you feel a little more confident that you can turn around some problems, especially in your daily affairs, with health matters, or your concerning your work. On the 15th, the Full Moon expands your desire to learn or experience new things. There can be a compelling discovery. It can be a time for awakening to true feelings about a course of study or project, which can propel you in a new direction or reinforce your commitment to a path you’re already on. On this same date, Mercury ends its retrograde, and information you've waited for can begin to trickle in. It may not mean the same to you as you previously imagined, but you're less in the dark or limbo. While outside interests and responsibilities remain relevant, the Sun's move into your home and family sector on the 21st suggests it's also a time for honoring your need for a home base, time to replenish and center yourself, and some familiarity or routine. The New Moon on the 30th can usher in new beginnings and approaches related to your family, domestic world, or living conditions and arrangements. Scorpio |
ScorpioDecember brings a focus on practical matters, settling in, and domestic matters, dear Scorpio. In the first few weeks of the month, you're particularly invested in your values, money, valuables, and talents. You're giving special thought to making your life more comfortable and secure. Money and business matters need some serious sorting, but efforts put forth now can lead to brave new beginnings down the road and benefits to match. You are learning about your attachments and earning potential. After the New Moon on the 1st, aim to look forward but also take care of unfinished business. Do keep alert for situations when a more sentimental approach is preferable. It's wise to remember that December is a sometimes stopped-up month, so if something can wait for a less blocked time, then do wait for it! Even with Mercury retrograde until the 15th, you can be quite charming with your words as Venus moves through your communications sector until the 7th. This transit refines, improves, and enhances your abilities to socialize, learn, communicate, and connect. There could be purchases or gifts that help you connect and learn. You are more charming and creative with your words, and love can be more mental and verbal during this cycle. One of the main reasons for taking things in rather than pushing things forward too quickly is the retrograde of Mars beginning on the 6th. Sometimes, people think they should pack all sorts of new beginnings into the days before a retrograde, but this is unwise. Motivation levels can dip, and you might change your mind about specific projects and ideas. This Mars retrograde period lasts from December 6th to February 23rd, and the first leg of the retrograde journey (until January 6th) occurs in your solar sector of career and reputation. While it may cause some disruptions and frustrations in your professional life, you'll eventually realize that going over plans and making adjustments will benefit you most in the long run. Work could require more strategy, patience, and perhaps a lower profile. This is not the time to push. Try to steer clear of conflicts that threaten to be too public or unprofessional. There can be delays and assorted slowdowns, and it makes sense to work on improving skills and fine-tuning your work. You might question certain life-path and long-term choices, and the need to manage your time more carefully becomes apparent. There can be a tendency to procrastinate and avoid essential responsibilities, so pace yourself accordingly. From the 7th onward, Venus spends time at the base of your solar chart, and you may like nothing more than spending quality time at home! Focus can be on bringing more harmony, balance, and beauty to your personal life, home, and family. Attention to beauty, balance, and comfort on the home front can be satisfying. Low-key activities and settings are in positive focus. Still, a Venus-Mars opposition on the 11th-12th is significant since it's occurring in signs that conflict with yours. The tendency is to react in a big way to frustrations, but bad behavior now can be impactful and memorable, so take it easy! There can be off-timing and impatience in our relationships. Give of yourself until you meet the halfway point, or to the point at which you still feel comfortable, to avoid resentment. It's important to keep your cool. With Neptune's direct turn this month, you're believing more in your dreams or clearing your mind of plans that no longer serve you well so that you can make room for new ones. You’re listening to your heart, even if you don’t have all the answers yet. A creative project, special hobby, or romantic friendship may show signs of progress. The Full Moon on the 15th can open your eyes to dependencies, matters of support and sharing, and financial realities. There may be a shuffling of money sources to manage. It's a fine time to get in touch with your feelings on a matter, and with Mercury ending its retrograde, you can feel clearer or more "in the know." With the Sun heading into your communication sector on the 21st, you're craving more mental engagement. It's a fine time to reach out and connect with people you don't always see, take up studies or interests, and share your ideas. Starting fresh with these things comes naturally after the New Moon on the 30th. You have a lot on your plate now! While in some ways the month ends on a busy note, it's also a time to more fully enjoy downtime. A pleasant work-rest balance is within sight. Your confidence in your ability to make changes that help you heal is building, and daily routines, work, or health and fitness matters stand to benefit. |
SagittariusDecember 2024 Monthly Horoscope Overview for Sagittarius: You begin this spirited month with a New Moon in your sign, dear Sagittarius, helping clear the path for new personal beginnings. It's time to put your personal plans first. You'll have to look back before going forward, however, with Mercury retrograde in your sign until the 15th, but this can eventually bring hefty rewards. Patience is necessary! Taking care of unfinished business makes sense so you can begin anew with far less baggage. While you have personal presence and power in December, you can sometimes be rather hard to get in touch with on some levels in the first half of the month. The first weeks of December are an awakened, active period for you. Both the Sun and Mercury are in your sign, aligning in Sagittarius on the 5th. Your personality shines, and you project quite a bit of strength. Significant realizations, epiphanies, and clarifications can occur. You're able to see details you overlooked in the past. You can feel ready to make you want out of your life and focus on self-improvement. While there's a strong focus on turning points and refreshment in December, Mars turns retrograde on the 6th, necessitating adjustments. Throughout this retrograde period (from December 6-February 23), it's appropriate to slow down, back up, and review. Enthusiasm for specific areas of life could change as you reassess your commitments or desires. Retrograde Mars will move through two different sectors of your chart over this stretch. For the first four and a half weeks, there can be special attention to projects and activities related to publishing, law, education, travel, and belief systems. Some of these things can meet with delays or slowdowns. Your approach to experiencing life to its fullest may need an adjustment now. There may be some things that catch up with you at this time, prompting a need to review, return to a previous condition, or tie up loose ends. Aim to correct misunderstandings swiftly. It's not that you lack confidence during Mars' retrograde, but that you often need to look within for answers. Questioning your plans is likely, and in fact quite necessary. The temptation to push ahead with personal plans is strong, but circumstances could have you feeling stuck. Watch for temper tantrums – they are unlikely to go over well. You'll be at your strongest if you tame impatience and work on projects that need fine-tuning or completion rather than adding more to your plate. As you grow accustomed to this energy, you'll begin to realize that reviewing, renewing, and recycling can be the most rewarding activities – look to projects you've already started in the past with renewed interest and motivation, for example. This month, until the 7th, you have Venus helping you with your finances, personal belongings, valuables, and business. It's a decent transit for relationships, too. Although your connections are pretty much status quo during this period, you are more inclined to value yourself and what you have to offer — an attitude that reverberates nicely to your relationships. From the 7th forward, energies are strong for attracting who and what you want through your communications. You can experience a real need to share your ideas and decisions with someone you care about. Venus brings out your charm in communications and suggests that getting what you want can be easier with kind words and bonding with others on a mental level. It certainly helps soften Mercury's retrograde until the 15th. There can be a lot of focus on, and possibly obsession with, your ideas or work as you begin the second week of December. Good energy is with you for really making progress on a project you feel passionately about, or for anything that requires persuasion. You are not afraid of getting into uncomfortable territory, and you’re quite magnetic and can come up with creative ways to get what you want! It’s also a strong time to learn more about yourself and the important people in your life. The Full Moon on the 15th can bring a personal project or relationship to bloom. Epiphanies and revelations about relationships are possible in the days surrounding this lunation. At the same time, Mercury ends its retrograde in your sign, and from this date forward, information unclogs and delays lift. You're reinvigorating dreams and plans with home life, family, or living arrangements in December. You might come to an understanding of a challenge from the past, helping you move forward. On the 21st, the Sun moves out of your sign and begins its transit of your resources sector. It's a good time for settling in and turning your attention to projects with long-term potential that require patience. More attention to personal possessions, money matters, natural talents, and matters of security and comfort is likely in the last 10 days of the month. The second to last day of the month (and year!) features a second New Moon and a potential new beginning on a financial level. You might get a fresh start with finances, income, valuables, self-esteem, or comfort matters as the year draws to a close. This lunation can give you a fantastic push towards taking better care of your money and resources. There are indications that you have some loose ends to tie up before pushing ahead, but it’s a great time to rethink your plans and look forward to potential financial growth. |
CapricornDecember 2024 Monthly Horoscope Overview for Capricorn: December begins with much focus on the past and your inner world, dear Capricorn, but you're building towards a far more active and involved phase as the month progresses. Currently, you have Venus in your sign until the 7th, and while you often keep to yourself, this has no effect on your personal appeal. In fact, others are drawn to you more than usual. You are the desired one right now! You may not be entirely ready to act on feelings yet, but you're certainly attracting others to you. Still, it can benefit you greatly to pay extra attention to your private, inner world in the first weeks of the month. With the Sun and Mercury in the sign behind yours (until the 21st and all month, respectively) and Mars in your intimacy sector, you're bound to focus on your more profound needs, the past, finishing important projects, clearing out the deadwood in your life, and doing some soul searching. There can be a strong urge or need to talk and think about the past. Slowing down makes sense at this time, and relaxing, meditative activities can be a boon. Major decision-making may be deferred until you feel more confident. Once past the slate-clearing energy of the New Moon on the 1st day of the month, you're in the position to take action on specific things you've been mulling over and processing. Particularly on the 4-5, you can have an epiphany or experience illumination regarding a private or past matter. You might see something you failed to see before, or a conversation can bring up new information that allows you to come to a more definite conclusion. There can be a releasing or purging moment involved with bringing something to light, although this is still something that is private, behind the scenes, or within you. Ideas coming to you now can be highly significant. Revealing conversations or details emerging can prompt a turning point of sorts. You are better able to communicate or rationalize a matter that, before this time, was difficult to express or understand. Mars turns retrograde on the 6th and will remain so until February 23rd. During this period, your desires may become more complex, either becoming difficult to fulfill or causing uncertainty about whether you should pursue them. Mars will spend the last seven weeks of its retrograde period in your partnership sector, but until then, you're examining your deeper wants and desires. This could manifest as struggles with addictions, fears, unusual desires, or a need to review your financial situation. It's important to be cautious with your money this month, as lending and borrowing may not yield the desired results at this time. However, this is a great time to do catch-up work and look to the past for important things you missed the first time. You may, in fact, see value in past projects (and possibly even relationships). Whether or not to revive them is a trickier matter! Watch for attraction to speculative ventures, both financial and emotional in nature. This is an important time to follow all the rules in your financial and business worlds. When it comes to direct personal income (your salary), money matters are strong. However, other sources of support can involve some question marks for the time being. Mars retrogrades often turn your attention to unfinished matters as you could seek closure or look to reopen something that ended a while ago. There may be a preoccupation and possibly some anxiety when it comes to money or your intimate life, but the steps you take now to reorganize will benefit you greatly down the road. Certainly, with Mercury retrograde until the 15th, it's generally best to edit and refine rather than push projects and initiatives ahead. From the 7th forward, you're in an excellent cycle for enjoying activities that soothe, comfort, and boost your confidence. Drawing on your talents can be smooth and natural. You're also less inclined to procrastinate or question your goals and dreams. You're rebuilding your faith in your projects, learning, studies, and relationships. On the 15th, Mercury ends its retrograde, clearing up some information clogs, and a Full Moon occurs in your work and health sector, illuminating some matters. It can bring a realization about habits, health, or work. There can be a bit of a scramble to get going, but once you're in motion, you'll make some serious improvements to your daily routines. On the 21st, the Sun moves into your sign, and on some levels (not all), you're awakening and ready to share yourself with the world. This is a time for feeling more powerful, in charge, and effective, even with some caveats related to retrograde Mars. The last week of December is strong for money and gifts and active for family and domestic life. The New Moon on the 30th is in your sign, pointing to a grand new beginning. This is a time of more personal presence and power, a theme that continues into the New Year. |
AquariusDecember 2024 Monthly Horoscope Overview for Aquarius: December is an important month for taking care of unfinished business, dear Aquarius, mainly revolving around friends, groups, and causes. As the month progresses, it becomes a powerful time for healing, relaxing, and getting in touch with your inner world. The month ushers in a mix of social and introspective energies, with a clear focus on wrapping up a busy year and contemplating your next steps. But it's not just about endings. The strong emphasis on friendships, networking, and community or group efforts also brings with it the promise of new beginnings, even with some focus on the past. The New Moon on the 1st of the month is a powerful symbol of this fresh start, filling you with optimism. As the month begins, you can be focusing on cultivating contacts, getting involved, networking, sharing ideas or time and energy. There can be hurdles to clear this month, especially with relationships, but taking care of problem areas will benefit you in the long run, so aim to do the ground work. Certainly, your social life can be up and down or more dramatic this month. The Full Moon on the 15th can bring feelings to bloom or a romantic relationship to a turning point. Especially around the 4-5, you may be giving a lot of thought to friendships, group associations, and long-term goals or enjoy new insights into these areas of your life. Your personal happiness goals or cherished causes are in focus. You might gain more clarity about or through a friend, or friends have something essential to contribute or say right now. Part of you might hold yourself back with Venus in your privacy sector until the 7th. You might take particular pleasure in their private life. Dreams can be intriguing, and more time taken for yourself can be especially rewarding. Decision-making about money and love is not straightforward, though, and it's wise to take your time to come to reliable conclusions. You may not be ready to share your feelings with the world. Lowered vitality is possible with the retrograde of Mars beginning on the 6th in your partnership sector. Be sure to honor your need for extra rest. It's not the time to push yourself too hard, particularly since the Sun moved into your privacy sector on the 21st – another indicator that you need to slow down, rest, reflect, and observe. Mars' retrograde lasts until February 23rd, and the first leg of the journey (until January 6th) affects partnerships and close relationships. Buried problems can surface in partnerships, and resolving them can initially seem complicated. Straightforwardly dealing with others can be challenging for one reason or the other. You may be looking to the past for answers during this period. You have the chance to reassess how you've been dealing with partners or potential partners, and you may be finding new and improved ways to get along. Taking things slowly is best now and, in fact, beneficial once you adjust to the shift in energy. Relationships can be conflicted but also hold valuable lessons. Cupid's arrows may be flying in the wrong direction at times, and it's wise to be sensitive to others, but it's also a time when you or someone needs some space to figure things out. Fortunately, Venus moves through your sign from the 7th onward, clarifying your affections and boosting your feelings of comfort with yourself. You radiate warmth and gentle confidence during this pleasing transit. This is a time to attract good things into your life. This transit aids efforts to enjoy yourself, pursue your wishes, and "make nice" with people in your life. Even though Mercury is retrograde until mid-month and Mars is retrograde from the 6th onward, some shifts encourage subtle forward movement and clarity. A money matter that was in limbo may now be released and progress forward. Certain projects look more hopeful. It’s a time of the reinvigoration of your spirit, imagination, and perhaps your more fanciful dreams or plans. Friends and lovers can have exciting news around the Full Moon on the 15th. Something from your past or something that was previously hidden, such as a good deed, comes to light and brings you benefits. This Full Moon occurs on the same day that Mercury turns retrograde and, in some ways, the floodgates open. Information begins to unclog, and you get in better touch with your feelings on social levels. The Sun moves into your privacy sector on the 21st, signaling the beginning of a month-long period for review, reform, and renewal. This cycle coincides with Mars retrograde in your opposing sign at first, reinforcing the need to take things easy and reassess matters. The last week of December brings a second New Moon. December began with a New Moon in your social sector, and it nears a close with one in your sector of endings and hidden things. There can be a reminder that you need to tie up loose ends. Take extra time to rest if you need it, but it can also be a time when working behind the scenes benefits you. Pay special attention to your intuition. |
PiscesCareer or life path goals can demand your precise and focused attention this month, dear Pisces. However, this can also ignite a sense of excitement about your future. Remember, patience is key for the best results! December may bring a mix of highs and lows in your career or reputation matters, but it also holds the promise of significant improvements or at least visible progress. Don't be surprised if you find yourself revisiting an old project or refining something you thought was complete. Returning to the same old conversations or problems is likely until the 15th. However, this apparent backtracking can lead to significant refinements and the strengthening of areas that were once uncertain. Ultimately, you'll find yourself in a much stronger position, which should boost your confidence. The Sun transits your solar tenth house until the 21st, and Mercury is there all month. You are more invested than usual in your long-term or professional goals, responsibilities, or reputation. You're bringing more pride and intelligence to your work or public life. You can be working hard to surpass competitors or merely trying to beat your own personal "best." The New Moon on the 1st can bring a sense of renewal or revival. You can feel especially enterprising, although there are better months for brand-new ventures. Generally speaking, it's time to proceed carefully. Particularly around the 4-5, you might receive special attention in a public or professional sense, or your communications are particularly impactful. Problem-solving skills are high. New insights into your career or life path can emerge, or there can be a significant clarification or a meaningful realization related to your broader goals. Ideas for new directions can be valuable now. At the same time, with Venus moving through your social sector until the 7th, your happiness goals are getting the attention they deserve. You'll find that you get along better with your team, and your talents and expertise are appreciated by others. The urge to be around people and to draw inspiration from them is strong, reinforcing the value of your social connections. Love is a little more private and perhaps complicated from the 7th onward. It can be a period of review and reflection with affections and relationships. Benefits come from paying more attention to the hidden elements and patterns of your interactions. Frustrations with routines and work can be prominent once Mars turns retrograde on the 6th, particularly as you crave more time to sort out your feelings. Mars is retrograde until February 23rd, and this month, there can be some tricky matters revolving around work or health matters to manage. Energy may not be at its best for work and health routines, and you could feel sluggish or bored. If so, it's mainly about waning emotional energy (motivation and inspiration), impacting your physical vitality. Keep in mind that while there can be delays, slowdowns, and messy or muddled situations, your patience now will be rewarded later. You may be looking to the past for inspiration now, and considering reviving past projects or reminiscing about previous jobs. With your health, you may need to clear up an old issue before going forward with new programs or procedures. As such, your larger, long-term goals are in focus this month, but the details of your daily affairs can sometimes be overwhelming, making it difficult to feel free enough to attend to your more worldly goals. Fortunately, there can be forward motion with personal plans, or you have more confidence and faith in your dreams this month. Something can inspire you to reach for greater heights. Neptune was retrograde for just over five months, and its shift on the 7th can reinvigorate you on spiritual levels. You might approach the world in more empowered ways. You could arrive at new and improved ways of presenting yourself to others or approaching new things. Home and family demand your undivided attention around the Full Moon on the 15th. Illumination occurring now is reinforced by Mercury ending its retrograde cycle on the same day. On the 21st, the Sun moves into your social sector, giving you another type of message – it's a period for planting "seeds" in the form of ideas, dreams, and hopes. Think in terms of team playing as the most benefits come your way when you recognize your need for friends, a social life, or rewarding activities separate from your closest relationships and duties. Friends can help give you more perspective on any work-related challenges you might be facing. A New Moon on the 30th is the second New Moon of the month, and your sense of community strengthens. Emotional satisfaction can come through your interactions with, or support of, friends. |
