Moon in the Signs
Moon in Aries
Nothing quite happens soon enough with this position of the Moon! The Moon rules our emotions and our personalities that emerge when we’re most comfortable (for example, at home). With your Moon in Aries, you want immediate results. Sometimes, it can seem as if life is a series of emergencies as a Lunar Arien. You live in the moment and can have a hard time waiting for things to happen. Whims of the moment take absolute precedence in your life.
This is a fiery position of the Moon — Aries is a member of the Fire family. Even if your Sun or rising sign is more low-key, you possess inner passion and fire. Emotional issues take precedence–there is simply no pussy-footing around when it comes to dealing with your feelings. And, dealing with new sentiments and needs stirs up a huge desire for activity. With your Moon in Aries, you want to act out your needs with no time to waste. When emotionally involved, it can be difficult for you to see the long-term or to wait for things to happen. Instant gratification rules!
Oddly enough, this is a very defensive position of the Moon. You often take things very personally, and you deal with problems by facing them right away so that you can then get on with other things. Your flare-ups typically end almost as quickly as they started. A very strong characteristic of this position is that you don’t like to dwell.
As a Lunar Arien, you have an unmistakable independent streak. You put yourself right out there in the world, and make an impression for whatever you do. Your self-confidence is, in reality, variable. Although you project a strong personality, you go through plenty of ups and downs. Your moodiness is not like Cancer or Pisces moodiness – you don’t withdraw into yourself or escape the world when you’re down. Instead, you are temperamental, but you pick yourself up and keep on going, barely missing a step!
Some might say that you enjoy trouble and confrontations. Indeed, with an Aries Moon, you can quickly become bored with environments that are too tranquil. Often enough for people with this combination, their homes –especially childhood homes -– are battlegrounds, highly animated, and lively. They rule the roost, or at least want to, and are not the most peaceful of folk to live with! However, they will go to bat for those they love.
You may very well have plenty of crushes and other short-lived yet intense desires. “Needs” and “wants” can be indistinguishable to Lunar Ariens at any given time. In your mind, what you want is so powerful that it becomes an absolute need. In youth, you may be dangerous with a credit card. Whoever offered the advice to freeze your credit card in a container of water, and then let the block of ice thaw before using the card, unwittingly had people with Moon in Aries in mind. The whole idea was to see if the shopping whim of the moment would pass by the time the card was ready to use. Still, with this scenario, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Moon in Aries hacking away at the ice, that is, if Aries takes the advice in the first place! Moon in Aries people value independence and love to be first, and they’re not big on receiving help or tips.
Many times when you’re calling to your Moon nature, you can be a pioneer, the first to adopt a new trend, and brave as hell. You fight for what you want and the people you love. Your fierce independence may not always be apparent, but does emerge from time to time, especially when you’re challenged — by life or others. Passion fuels you, and while you may not always stick things through to the bitter end, you are “all in” when you’re engaged and excited about something.
Your ability to bounce back is tremendous, and your sense of adventure is strong. Your feelings and emotional reactions are quite immediate, rarely delayed. Your enthusiasm is incredible and infectious. When you want something, you go for it, and the path you take is usually straight. You express yourself directly, and you don’t like to beat around the bush. You may have identified with the fiery side of a parent or caregiver’s personality. You are similarly quick to defend and protect your loved ones.
Others will appreciate that you rarely sulk or play any drawn-out games of manipulation. They can pretty much know what you want at any given time. You are often ruled by your own emotional needs, and you’re not always as concerned about others’ needs during these “emergencies.” Somehow, you have people around you scrambling to help you solve your problems. There’s an aura of childlike innocence around you, even when you’re getting your way again, that can be charming indeed!
Moon in Taurus
You have the Moon in the sign of Taurus in your natal chart, and familiarity is vital to Lunar Taureans. You are earthy and strong-willed. You feel with your senses, and you are pretty much rooted in your ways. You may very well revel in material comforts–in fact, building a stable and comfortable home and foundation helps to keep you feeling safe and content.
It isn’t wise to try to push you into doing anything, as you tend to dig in your heels if you’re rushed or dominated, but once you’ve committed, you’re remarkably persevering.
There’s a steadiness to this position of the Moon that is comforting to people close to you. But there is also a conservative streak in you that can be maddening to more progressive personalities. You tend to go out of your way to avoid messy or unpredictable situations, crises, and emotional displays. You’d rather focus on creating a reliable and secure life around you. In relationships, Lunar Taureans such as you may not easily recognize their partner’s need for change, growth, or emotional stimulation. Staying on top of this tendency is essential.
Moon in Taurus natives are usually very romantic, although not typically in a flowery way. Instead, their affections are strong, deep, and unwavering, and they are sentimental and warm. Since Taurus is a practical Earth sign, the placement of the Moon in this sign suggests an ability to protect themselves and their own interests. They will rarely make a move without first determining that it is safe and that there’s something in it for them! With your Moon in Taurus, you have a strong need for predictability in your home and family life, even if other aspects of your personality prompt you to seek out excitement in various other life departments.
Generally, you have reliable instincts. You can be very much tied to the physical world, and you’re likely to have a particularly well-developed sense of smell. Sensual but simple pleasures delight you tremendously. In this way, you are wonderfully straightforward and easy to please.
Relationships for you are often quite enduring. Many Moon in Taurus people hang onto their mates longer than most, even in the face of severe conflict. Taurus is a fixed sign, so break-ups don’t happen easily.
There is a serenity to you that others can find very calming. In fact, it takes a lot to really get to you. However, you do get off-center every once in a while. You are not the most adaptable of people when your own routine is interrupted, for example.
Though some Lunar Taureans might be considered anal, most simply have a stubborn streak that keeps them rather resistant to change. Rarely are you a spontaneous sort unless there are many other factors in your chart pointing in that direction. Uncomfortable with surprises, you value stability. Your needs are robust but quite simple at the same time – you love the “good things” in life. The world of the five senses is all-important to you. Your love of stability and steadiness can make you somewhat of a slave to routine at times. However, you are loyal and capable, and this kind of stick-to-it energy is wonderful.
Moon in Gemini
You were born when the Moon was in Gemini, and this is an important placement in your natal chart. You are pleasant, witty, and charming. People with Moon in Gemini are always interesting people–they have a finger in every pie, are curious to a fault, and are usually well-informed.
Nervousness and worry are common traits with this lunar position. An underlying restlessness is characteristic, and you seem to need more stimulation than others. You’re likely to read a lot, talk a lot, and think a lot with this airy, mutable position of the Moon (the sign of Gemini belongs to the Air and Mutable families of signs). At home and with family, you can be moody and irritable at times.
Your home may be a perpetual work-in-progress. You generally dislike housework since you prefer to socialize or keep your mind busy, but you can be big on home improvement. Re-organizing your home in little ways seems to keep you happy, as you can be easily bored by both routine and constancy. It’s likely that this is a reflection of your inner world — “the grass is always greener…” applies here. You may be more adept at handling the intellectual needs of others than emotional ones, although you’re competent all around. Complicated emotions, in general, can be difficult for Lunar Geminis to handle, primarily because it takes some time for them to get out of their heads. This doesn’t mean that people with the Moon in Gemini are less emotional — it merely means that they’re more comfortable in the world of the mind.
In your family, you may take on the job of organizing get-togethers. You’re all for talking things out reasonably. You are at your best when you have plenty of things to do beyond routine.
Moon in Gemini people almost always have a way with words. They are clever and witty, and more often than not can be found chatting with others. They are sociable and friendly, and they feel comfortable in crowds. Some pay too much attention to what everyone else is doing and consequently lose touch with what they genuinely want to do. More often than not, Lunar Geminis have a million and one projects going. They are impressionable folk, and their imaginations are boundless.
With your Gemini Moon, your openness to new ideas is admirable, although decisiveness and persistence take a blow as a result. Still, versatility and adaptability are some of the stronger traits of this position of the Moon.
When irritable, you can quickly become snappy. Your moodiness is complicated. Usually, difficult behavior stems from inner restlessness. As a Lunar Gemini, you want to do it all, and you can have trouble sticking to any one project. In fact, you often have many projects going at once, and this is satisfying.
When problems arise, your first instinct is usually to talk things through. Your tendency to analyze can give you the appearance of emotional detachment. In reality, you may be comfortable talking about your feelings, but feeling your own feelings doesn’t come as easily! If you don’t take time out to really emote and understand your own needs, you could end up baffling others. Feeling misunderstood is common for Moon in Gemini natives until they do get into better touch with their emotions.
You love variety and, in fact, thrive on it. Staying the same holds no appeal to you. You are quick to adapt to changing circumstances, and if situations call for changing plans on the fly, you adjust much more readily than others. You are very often a breath of fresh air.
You are highly observant and bright. People generally love to be around you. Your intelligence, resourcefulness, and wit stand out. You remain youthful and fun throughout life.
Moon in Cancer
You were born with the Moon in the sign of Cancer. The Moon sign is a vital part of your personality, representing your emotional, natural, familial nature. In other words, when you’re at home or in familiar, natural settings, you’re most like your Moon sign! The Moon happens to be “at home” in the sign of Cancer, as the Moon is the natural ruler of the sign.
With your Moon in Cancer, you are very able to get in touch with the feelings and moods of others. Often, you can be quite wrapped up in yourself and the world of your feelings, too. Your memories of the past are outstanding, especially for all things emotional. You are never detached — your cling to things, your home, and people you care for. You seek out security and familiarity in all that you do. You look for peace and quiet. Your attachment to all that is safe means you can be a little leery of change.
Moon in Cancer people are peace-loving souls who dislike superficiality in all of its forms. With your Cancer Moon, you are devoted and accommodating. Some people with this Moon position accumulate things in an attempt to feel secure.
Because of your strong attachment to, and memory of, the past, people in your life may complain that you dwell a little too much. In truth, you may dwell on hurts long after everyone else has moved on. When you feel you’ve been taken for granted (which may be often!), you may not always confront others directly. This is when you’re inclined to use roundabout ways to get others’ attention. In fact, when you’re feeling insecure, you can become quite manipulative. You can also be somewhat of a slave to habit.
You can have a marked difficulty compartmentalizing your life simply because your Water sign Moon (as opposed to Fire, Earth, or Air signs) tends to know no boundaries. Sometimes, as a result, you may seem to others that you’re acting irrationally. In truth, it’s because you are guided more by feelings than ideas.
One of the most delightful characteristics of Moon in Cancer people is their loony sense of humor. You can be extraordinarily funny. While your moodiness can sometimes baffle others, your unique outlook on life is something most people can appreciate.
When treated with tenderness and understanding, you’ll return the favor with warmth and protection. If others give you security, they’ll take the crabbiness out of the Crab, at least for a while. This is a domestic position of the Moon.
Even though you can be up and down on the inside, you are wonderfully dependable overall. Occasional mood swings are part of the package deal, and totally worth it. Make a genuine friend of Moon in Cancer, and you will be taken care of for life.
Moon in Leo
With your Moon in Leo, you are proud, noble, and loving. Your heart is enormous! Depending on other positions in the chart, you may or may not be outgoing, in general, but with this position of the Moon, when you feel comfortable, you do like being the center of attention. That is, you love being in the “spotlight” in the comfort of your own home and with family and friends. You thoroughly enjoy entertaining others, and you often take on the role of comic or leader.
Lunar Leos often feel a need to organize, and even control, their families and friends. They have a secret mission to set things right, and generally like to oversee the goings-on in their little circle. This, or family and friends tend to assign Leo Moon people their unofficial leader or organizer.
This is a very creative position of the Moon. At the very least, you seek or want to create and entertain. You can be lazy at times, and a little bossy, too. You’re flexible only up to a point, after which you draw the line. Generally, though, you have a deep need to treat others fairly and justly.
You require lots and lots of love and care to function well in the world. When you feel slighted, you can be dramatic in your emotional displays, whether you choose to brood or hold your head high. When your pride has been hurt, you can be given to big scenes and sulking. This rarely happens in public, however. Lunar Leos are far too concerned about their image to make splashy scenes outside the comfort of their own homes. In public, they prefer to take things in dignified ways. At home, however, they’re less inhibited. These scenes generally don’t last too long, however.
Lunar Leos are often personally popular folk who are valued for their integrity and strong sense of justice.
You can be very proud, and you’re rarely happy to follow orders. Leo is a Fixed sign, and it can be difficult to change your mind or to change up plans on you at the last moment. You need time to adjust to schedule changes! You will go to bat for anyone you love, and you can be fiercely protective of your loved ones.
Generally, it is easy to reason with you, though. Appealing to your well-developed sense of fairness usually works well. You are strongly self-aware and always strive towards self-improvement. You are extraordinarily loyal to people who have proved themselves to you, or perhaps more accurately, who haven’t disproved themselves to you! In truth, you expect the best from others and give them the benefit of the doubt until they prove you wrong. The same can be said of life, in general — first and foremost, you expect the best. You’re not blind to adverse situations, but you focus on the positive and strive to remain positive in your expectations and attitude. This is one of the many reasons others love to be around you.
Moon in Virgo
With your Moon in the sign of Virgo, you find security in the little things in life. You feel most content after you’ve straightened out all the details of everyday life. You may very well enjoy running errands, paying bills, and balancing the books. You take care of these things happily, although you may not let on! In fact, you may very well be quite practiced at nagging and complaining, that is, unless you’ve grown out of that phase. As long as you are appreciated, you will help others take care of their lives, too. You are at your best when they feel useful and needed. If somebody needs help, you are the first to jump up and take on the task.
Some people with Virgo Moons are accused of being underachievers. While it may be true that Lunar Virgos can lack self-confidence, many are–quite simply–content with living “regular,” unassuming lives. With the Moon in Virgo, you appreciate simplicity, and you tend to feel most comfortable when you’re not getting too much attention from the world at large. You are easily overwhelmed by pressure and stress. You worry incessantly when there is too much to think about; and, you know your limits. You are often content with a modest existence, feeling that if you have too much or too little, there is a lot of pressure that goes along with either extreme. The middle ground suits you well.
Arguably the worst position for a Lunar Virgo is without a steady routine or a simply satisfying job. They need to feel useful, and they best express this by helping others in little ways. As a Lunar Virgo, you need something to call your own, and the space to do what you want to do.
The unhappy Lunar Virgos tend to do a lot of fussing and fretting. They are victims of routine and freak out when their plans are not followed. They are restless and nervous, and can’t seem to see the big picture. Probably the best remedy for these problems is a job or hobby in which they can express their deep need to analyze, attend to details, and micromanage. This can do wonders.
You express your affection for the people you care about in little, but practical, ways, and you’d hope that those people who are lucky enough to receive all this attention appreciate it! You can be a little stiff when it comes to open, gushy displays of affection, and you may be a little shy with new people. However, when you are comfortable, you are anything but shy.
More often than not, others can count on you. You’re reliable and trustworthy. Above all else, you’re pragmatic and practical. Others turn to you for help and advice.
In relationships, you can be self-effacing and kind. Some with this position are quite shy in love, and easily intimidated or worried. Some are not very comfortable with their sexuality, but they aim to please nonetheless. The sign of Virgo is very body-aware, in general. If this awareness combines with a lack of self-confidence, Lunar Virgos can be too aware of the parts that make up the whole. This can lead to a tendency to be intensely self-critical. Once Lunar Virgos learn to come out of their shell and gain confidence, however, they are earthy partners with a lot to give.
Some of the most skeptical people are Lunar Virgos. They can’t help but poke holes when faced with others’ blind faith. Their criticism can be maddening, and their insistence on seeing the practical in anything emotional can be challenging for dreamy types.
Virgo curiosity shows up big time with this position of the Moon. To some, it can be confusing. Lunar Virgos seem very interested in others’ problems, for example, but can be quite cool and even unsympathetic in theory. Their advice can seem hard to more sensitive folk, yet Lunar Virgos can be surprisingly delicate when faced with others’ criticism. It’s unlikely that they’re insensitive, but applying logic to emotion doesn’t always work, and it’s the first instinct with a Virgo Moon.
You are always thinking, rehashing, and analyzing, and while it’s useful to a certain degree, learning to control this to serve you rather than work against you can be a primary key to happiness. You are wonderfully detail-oriented and observant, and when you share your ideas and memories, you’re an immensely interesting person. Writing can be a powerful tool for self-understanding.
With your Virgo Moon, you are generally busy and quietly happy when you have your life under control. Routine helps and is immensely important to you. You tend to aim for a simple existence, and you’re often perfectly content with very little. You may be an early riser, ready to take on the day with enthusiasm. You scurry around, keeping busy and managing your life quietly and expertly. As long as your little world is manageable, you can be a delight to be around.
Moon in Libra
Moon in Libra people often have a strong need for partnership. Without someone to share their lives with, they may feel utterly incomplete. This is why many people with this position get involved in marriages or living-together arrangements quite young. With your Moon in Libra, because your drive for harmony, peace, and sharing is so powerful, you are apt to do a lot of conceding. You are sympathetic and concerned for others, enjoy socializing and revel in a good debate. Mental rapport with others is especially important to you.
As a Lunar Libra, you may very well feel safe and secure when you are in a partnership or have someone special to share your time, energy, thoughts, and love with. You might often seem to need to have someone tag along with your wherever you go — even if it is to the corner store. You find strength and reinforcement in and through others. With maturity, though, you’re able to function just fine alone, but you do thoroughly enjoy good company.
You can be wonderfully charming. You are very attractive to be around, and you are often given to flirtatiousness. Rarely directly aggressive, you win others’ hearts with your gentle and refined ways.
You simply can’t help but see flaws in your environment and relationships. In fact, anything out of whack will bother you until it’s fixed. Although diplomatic with acquaintances, when you argue with long-standing partners, you rarely let up until you win. And, winning an argument is a Libran specialty–in fact, there can be times when you don’t even believe what you’re saying but will adopt all kinds of ideas to get the last word! In fact, you can be brilliant in a debate with someone you know well. Do keep in mind that living with you can sometimes feel like being on trial to others and you’re the expert lawyer! However, when you’re defending your loved ones and supporting their point of view, they’re in great shape.
Your ability to see imbalances can be maddening at times, but excellent for design and harmony. You have an artistic disposition and a brilliant ability to make things work.
Your idealistic outlook and constant striving for the best, most harmonious lifestyle can sometimes lead to discontent. Looking for that one (elusive) perfect way to lead your life can detract from the enjoyment of the moment. However, you are a romantic, kind soul. You’re exceptionally fair and want everyone to get a decent chance. You also want to make everyone around you comfortable. You avoid harsh, abrupt, vulgar, and rude language and behavior, and this enhances your relationships tremendously. You always see the other side of a story or situation which can undoubtedly lead to indecision but is also a fresh breath of air for others.
Moon in Scorpio
You have the Moon in the sign of Scorpio. While others may find security and comfort in material things, you seek out emotional intensity. No matter what, there is something very intense about people with the Moon in Scorpio. They are diggers when it comes to the world of emotion–they can see beyond facades and cut right to the core of a person. This ability to “see” what isn’t obvious to the rest of the world can be intimidating to others or wildly attractive, depending on the audience!
Your deep-seated need for transformation and rebirth can manifest itself in your life in different ways. You may have a powerful, emotionally intense life. You might feel like it is beyond your control — you seem to attract emotional upheaval, and your life can appear to consist of plenty of many dramatic ups and downs. However, once you accept transformation as an emotional need, rebirth and change don’t need to be so dramatic and overwhelming. In some way or the other, you seek out intense experiences. If your life becomes too ordinary or regular, there can be an unconscious need to test your own strength and stir up emotional excitement. Self-awareness and acceptance is probably the best way to handle this deep need for emotional drama.
Doing things halfway or having meaningless relationships simply doesn’t fulfill you; you want all or nothing!
You might also court a strong fear of betrayal in early life. You seek out commitment and you might feel the need for a partner to give up something for you. If this fear is overpowering, you might even put someone you love through a series of tests, and this is not always conscious. Your apparent suspicion can be trying for the people who love you. However, once committed, Moon in Scorpio people can be the most loyal and protective partners around. Over time, you are likely to learn, through trial and error, to trust.
You can be immensely attracted to that which is dark, mysterious, taboo, secret, or hidden. You’re drawn to the hidden layers of life, people, and situations. You’re highly observant and perceptive, too. You notice things others miss, especially emotional nuances and subtleties.
Even the shy Lunar Scorpios have enormous presence. Their lives are emotion-driven, yet many Moon in Scorpio natives spend a lot of time controlling and mastering their emotions. With your Moon in Scorpio, your intuition is enormous, although it is sometimes self-serving.
You tend to radiate strength. Even in the absence of experience, you seem to “just know” things. It would be difficult to shock or scare you away in the face of emotional honesty and power. Some people instinctively want to lean on you, and other less brave folk run a little scared. You possess exceptional “radar” that allows you to size up a situation–and a person–quickly and expertly. This ability to understand human motivation and nature can be too close for comfort for some and enormously comforting for others.
You are highly intelligent and astute. Those Scorpio Moons who use their enormous powers for intimacy and honesty are the happiest, and they make the most interesting and rewarding friends, partners, and lovers.
Moon in Sagittarius
More than anything, you need personal freedom and space. You are extraordinarily happy and easygoing as long as you don’t feel caged in or cooped up.
With your Moon in the sign of Sagittarius, you have a simultaneous need for activity. Meeting new people, going out in the world, and travel are all essential to your sense of well-being. You love open spaces, and, in your home, a roomy, light, and bright environment.
There’s a bit of a teacher in you, and definitely a helpful spirit. You quickly forget appointments and the like, and some with this Moon position are even considered irresponsible. However, it’s hard to stay angry at a Lunar Sagittarian! You are extraordinarily cheerful and upbeat, and your optimism is catchy.
Many people with this position are outdoorsy types. At the very least, you have a great love for changes of scenery and some disdain for the regular routine. You also enjoy friendly competition. You want to feel that you can grow and improve on an emotional level, and if you feel stifled in this respect, you’re sure to get very antsy. You seek out knowledge, that’s true, but also experience. There’s a big world outside, and you’re always aware of this fact.
When the going gets tough, you have a great need to run away! It’s not that you’re scared. In fact, you’re a courageous person. However, you don’t like to be caught up in routine for too long, and you simply need to escape situations that confine you. You’ll be back when you feel refreshed and your spirit is renewed!
You also tend to skim the surface when it comes to feelings. You may prefer to avoid emotional intensity if it seems to drag you down. You’re capable of becoming all fired up about ideas and situations, but you’re disinclined to dwell on or genuinely explore the depth of your feelings or others’ complicated emotions (unless your Moon is connected solidly to the eighth house or Pluto).
There’s a blind faith in Lunar Sagittarians that is admirable. You simply believe that everything will work out. You may feel you have a guardian angel or powerful intuition that guides you. Not much for making detailed plans, you prefer to wing it. This can, at times, be disconcerting to those who are not as free-spirited as you and who’d prefer a bit of a head’s up.
You are very adaptable and generally on the go. You’re also hungry for knowledge, new experiences, and mind-expanding ideas. You are a great lover of the truth, and you’d make a wonderful, inspiring teacher. You’re warm and spontaneous, and you’re quick to jump in when others are still thinking about it!
Moon in Capricorn
The Moon was in Capricorn at the time of your birth. Being useful and productive are basic needs for those born with the Moon in Capricorn. Because you generally keep your emotions under check, you tend to project an image as competent and reserved. However turbulent your feelings may be under the surface, you tend to keep cool-headed–and you come across as steady and reliable, too.
This position of the Moon suggests a compelling emotional need and desire for clear boundaries and realistic goals. Not much for taking risks in life, you seek safety and security in most everything you do. For the most part, you respect authority and tradition, and you tend to be planning well ahead of everyone else. You don’t need reminders to protect your interests, plan for old age, or keep fall-back money in your bank account–these things come naturally to you!
Calm, cool, and collected–these words sum up Moon in Capricorn natives well. Messy emotions and “leaky” souls are a bit frightening for you. The truth is, you can have plenty of mood swings and some dark emotions now and again. In fact, you’re often quite hard on yourself, and you would benefit from letting their guard down once in a while. You quickly garner the reputation of being a mountain of strength, and you can sometimes hide your sensitivity behind a sarcastic manner. Showing your vulnerability is something you tend to spend a lot of time avoiding. You may put far too much pressure on yourself to win and succeed. Comparing your performance to others’ can be fun at times, but taken too far, it’s inhibiting.
You may have read that Moon in Capricorn natives are a bit cold and calculating. The fact is, they are unlikely to be any less emotional than the other eleven sign positions of the Moon–they simply aren’t comfortable “letting go” when it comes to emotions. They keep their emotions under control. Wherever Capricorn is found in the chart, there is a desire for structure and control. Capricorn is the sign of organization and efficient management; so, when the Moon is found in the sign, the world of emotions are well-managed and handled in an efficient and practical manner. Because they’re often under wraps doesn’t mean they’re any less profound than others.
At your heart may be a powerful need to feel worthwhile in the real world. There’s a basic need for respectability and a big attachment to the world of the senses with your Moon in Capricorn. You place a lot of value on all things tangible and real. And, perhaps more than anything, you seek to be respected by others to feel secure. You have a real knack for simplicity, effectiveness, and longevity. You are persistent, tenacious, and pragmatic. You often appear more mature than your age and connect easily with people older than you. You are extremely reliable and find people who can’t seem to follow basic rules quite irritating! In fact, you seek order more than most people. Having a specific goal in mind that you can work towards is emotionally satisfying.
Moon in Aquarius
With your Moon in the sign of Aquarius, you are extremely observant. You are a lifetime student of human nature, loving to analyze why people do what they do. This often stems from a detached–even shy–personality, especially in youth. Whether due to character or conditioning, Moon in Aquarius people often grow up feeling “different.” Although rather sociable, they are often loners at heart. Many have strong egos, or at least powerful defense mechanisms, and most Lunar Aquarians will do their best to be the most unique and unusual person they can be. Their inner feeling of loneliness –that they don’t quite fit in– puts them on the outside, looking in.
You can have a very idealistic and progressive streak with this Moon position that is admirable indeed. However, you might often deny the more irrational qualities of emotions–such as jealousy, possessiveness, and fear–in an effort to be “above” what you might consider pettiness. If you take this too far, of course, you could be emotionally blocked, distant, and detached. Otherwise, you can be a breath of fresh air as you approach others very humanely.
You can be very willful, especially in childhood, although you were likely very easy to reason with. With age, you learn to manage your strong needs. Your desire for independence is powerful indeed, no matter what your age. With a quiet Sun and/or Ascendant, your desire to “shock” others may not always be apparent to others until a relationship becomes comfortable. You may be proud of your family and friends, boasting just how unique they are. If your family was ultra-conservative, the boast will be that you rebelled against all of that!
Although given to temper tantrums and willful behavior here and there, you can grow up feeling that messy emotions are unappealing. You might often pride yourself for being cool-headed and detached. In the process, though, you can end up alienating others–and yourself, at times! Although you are especially adept at understanding others’ behavior and motivations, you can lose touch with your own simply because you have identified too strongly with what you aspire to be (and these aspirations may very well be super-human). As much as you’d like life to be logical, emotions are complicated.
The Aquarian trait of humanitarianism is particularly pronounced with the Moon in Aquarius. However, your kindness and concern for others is more of a broad philosophy of life than a focused, hands-on approach. With people close to you, you can seemingly lack compassion, as you often fully expect others to be as independent and detached as you are! In close, personal relationships, however, you tend to give others a lot of personal freedom, and you will tolerate (and enjoy) all kinds of idiosyncrasies in people around you.
Moon in Aquarius people are rarely flighty people, but they can be unreliable when it concerns the little things in life. Often, this is simply an assertion of their independence. In the long haul, however, they are rather constant, as Aquarius is a sign that’s a member of the Fixed family. As long as they have their own space and the freedom to be themselves, however kooky that may be, they are trustworthy and loyal.
You can be a wonderful friend. You’ll make a point of leaving nobody on the outside. You’ll fight for others’ rights and crusade for equality.
What may be surprising to some is that you can have a lot of pride. In fact, if you’ve been attacked in any way (especially regarding your character), you can react by becoming very inflexible and cool. It can be difficult to know just how sensitive to criticism you are, simply because you tend to hide it so well! When your character or behavior has been criticized, you tend to dig in your heels and keep right on doing whatever prompted the critique. You fully expect others to accept you exactly as you are, or you don’t have much use for them in your life.
While you can be maddeningly unpredictable at times, you are nevertheless quite charming. You have an unmistakable stubborn streak, but when left to be yourself, you make an unusual and endlessly interesting person to be around. Life just wouldn’t be the same without your unusual spin on the world and the people in it!
Moon in Pisces
Those with the Moon in Pisces are known to be dreamy and not always in touch with reality. However, though you may not always show real-world savvy in day-to-day, practical affairs, you make up for this with remarkable intuition. You can put yourself in anybody’s shoes with extreme ease. On the plus side, this endows you with remarkable compassion and love. The downside with this apparent ability to break down boundaries is that you can easily lose yourself in the suffering of others.
With your Moon sign Pises, your sense of humor is delightfully silly and a bit odd. You are a perceptive soul who seems to be in touch with all the nuances and subtleties of human nature. Often this comes through in a strong sense of humor that is more of the receptive kind than the type of sense of humor that would make people the “life of the party.” It’s generally pretty easy to get them laughing. Crying, too!
Moon in Pisces people may get tagged as “spaced out,” but there’s a lot more to them than meets the eye. They feel things out and rely quite strongly on their intuition. It just doesn’t feel right for them to do otherwise. Their dreaminess can mean plenty of moments of absent-mindedness. These times of oblivion can land them in all sorts of predicaments with others who can too easily misunderstand these complex souls. Without plenty of space and time to daydream, Pisces Moons easily get overloaded in life. Give them room to be alone with themselves, and they’re generally able to take on the world–even if their style when they do so is not always conventional or understandable.
Generally considered soft-hearted and sweet, you care about others and are easily touched by human suffering. This tendency can gain you the reputation as a sucker for a sob story. Although this may sometimes be true, you learn in your lifetime how to discern between sincerity and manipulation. Still, you definitely do have plenty of soft corners.
This is a powerfully creative and artistic Moon. It’s also one of the most understanding and nuanced combinations.
There’s a delightful accepting side to Moon in Pisces that is sometimes mistaken for weakness. Pisces is the twelfth and last sign of the zodiac, and thus carries with it a little of each sign of the zodiac. As a result, Pisces sees themselves reflected in the behavior of others, giving them seemingly boundless compassion. Since the Moon represents our instinctive nature, Moon in Pisces seems to know how things feel without actual experience. They may have never experienced something but still seem to understand it — even, or especially, the subtleties of it. The ones that aren’t too shy make awesome actors. The ability to empathize even in the absence of experience gives them an open mind and heart. Most long to express this through writing, music (both listening and making), poetry, and art –in fact, the more satisfied people with this position do just that. Nevertheless, this is a searching Moon sign that is often divinely discontent!
Though some are doormats, most Pisces Moon people instinctively know when they’re due for a much-needed recharge. It’s at these times that they retreat from the world (and its harsh realities) if only to gather strength to face everything and everyone again. Solitude is important to them, but they also need people, so their retreats will usually be short-lived. Pisces Moon individuals believe; and, let’s face it, the world needs Piscean leaps of faith.
You are a bit of an escapist or avoider. You don’t always feel equipped to face things head-on. Although your intentions are usually good, a potential weakness is your ability to “get out of” things. When you are emotionally present, though, you are a wonderfully entertaining, understanding, and kind-hearted person to be around.
