The Moon is New in Cancer on July 5, 2024, at 6:58 PM EDT.
Details
The Moon is New in Cancer on July 5, 2024, at 6:58 PM EDT.
The New Moon in Cancer is a good time to commit to personal goals that express the positive energies of the sign of the Crab. These include honoring our deepest, most irrational and intimate, feelings; recognizing the sense of security and safety we derive from whatever it is we call home; allowing ourselves to accept support and offering support to others; and starting a project aimed at improving our domestic lives or a major long-term venture.
With this potent Cancer energy, we have the chance to make important changes in our lives that will benefit us well beyond this Moon cycle.
It’s time to make some plans and set the stage for reaping the rewards from our new beginnings, as little or big as they may be, in approximately two weeks’ time after the Full Moon occurs. Concentrate on new ways to enhance family life and domestic affairs, and to build up your feelings of security and safety.
This phase of the Moon occurs at 14 degrees and 23 minutes of Cancer, affecting people with personal planets and points at approximately 10 to 18 degrees of the Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn) most significantly.
The above chart wheel is excellent for visualizing essential chart patterns as it shows the positions of the major or core bodies. The following chart wheel has additional points such as Chiron, the asteroids, and more, which can be studied for more refinement or additional analysis (click to enlarge):

The Moon is Full in Capricorn on July 21, 2024, at 6:17 AM EDT. The following is the chart wheel of the Capricorn Full Moon in the year 2024
Details
The Moon is Full in Capricorn on July 21, 2024, at 6:17 AM EDT.
The following is the chart wheel of the Capricorn Full Moon in the year 2024 — this is the second one (the first Full Moon in Capricorn occurred a month ago–on June 21st).
A Full Moon occurs when the Sun in Cancer forms an opposition to the Moon in Capricorn at 6:17 AM EDT on July 21st, 2024. The Full Moon is a time of culmination and the promise of fulfillment of that which was started at the New Moon. It is an emotional time – a time of romance, fertilization, and relationships.
To understand this Full Moon, we need to recognize that the Cancer-Capricorn polarity concerns the balance between the private life, domesticity, the need for a home base, and nurturance (represented by Cancer) versus the public life, career, reputation, and accountability (represented by Capricorn). Attachments and love are ruled by Cancer, while achievements and rewards/punishments are ruled by Capricorn.
In some ways, this polarity deals with the balance between unconditional love and conditional love. Cancer encourages us to value our home base and our roots, while Capricorn persuades us to consider our sense of duty and responsibility along public or professional lines. While Cancer may be content to be dependent, Capricorn urges us to be grown-up and responsible.
Cancer represents the origin, and Capricorn represents the goal. Neglecting either end of the axis will surely backfire on us. Ideally, a balance should be found between the two energies, and this is what the Full Moon invites us to do.
This Full Moon is about balancing our commitment to our career and families. Something has been building inside of us, and now is the time when the energy of the cosmos fairly demands that we let it out. Over the next two weeks, we will discover what this means for us. For now, we can’t sit on our feelings. We need to express them.
The Full Moon illuminates this conflict between roots and direction. With the Moon full and bright in the sky, symbolic “illumination” occurs in our own lives. However, these new feelings and revelations are emotional ones, as there is a sense of emotions bursting forth into our consciousness. It’s time to express ourselves and to let things out of our systems.
Of course, we might want to exercise some care while doing so, knowing that what is coming out of us is fresh, unrefined, and not particularly rational as yet.
This lunation connects with Pluto and engages harmoniously with Neptune, Mars, and Uranus, suggesting we have the support, determination, and resources to realize our dreams. It’s a fruitful and ambitious period.
Occurring in the last degree of Capricorn, this Full Moon feels more urgent, but it also rounds out our feelings with further matter to consider compared to last month’s Full Moon in the sign, when we were fresh and still a little naive. We can experience powerful, well-formed realizations, perhaps with the final word or decisive revelations on a matter.
The following is a chart of this Full Moon with additional points:
This phase of the Moon occurs at 29 degrees and 9 minutes of Capricorn, opposite the Sun at the same degree of Cancer, and affecting planets at approximately 25 to 30 degrees of the Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn) and 0 to 3 degrees of the Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius) the most.

The Moon is New in Leo on August 4, 2024, at 7:13 AM EDT.
Details
The Moon is New in Leo on August 4, 2024, at 7:13 AM EDT.
This phase of the Moon occurs at 12 degrees and 34 minutes of Leo.
The New Moon in Leo is an excellent time for formulating goals regarding “all things Leo.” For example, we might concentrate on new ways to enhance our romantic life, creative endeavors and hobbies, and relationship with children, as well as build our self-confidence and healthy pride in ourselves.
Some of Leo’s lessons involve taking pride in ourselves as unique individuals, assuming responsibility for our lives, and giving ourselves warmly and generously to others. This New Moon period is an excellent time to meditate upon some of the characteristics of Leo. Keywords for this self-expressive Fire sign — such things as proud, noble, generous, hospitable, caring, warm, authoritative, active, and open — are traits that we might enhance, develop, and incorporate into our personalities.
We all have Leo somewhere in our charts. Seek the coming month to improve those areas of life. It’s time to awaken our “inner child” and find ways to express ourselves creatively. With this potent Leo energy, we can make significant changes in our lives that will benefit us well beyond this Moon cycle. It’s time to make some plans and set the stage for reaping the rewards from our new beginnings, as little or big as they may be, approximately two weeks after the Full Moon occurs.
This lunation harmonizes with Mars and Jupiter as these planets approach alignment in the sign of Gemini. We’re enterprising and confident.
The above chart is helpful for seeing the fundamental energies of this New Moon along with chart patterns. Below, the New Moon chart is presented with additional points for extra details. Click to enlarge:

The Moon is Full in Aquarius on August 19, 2024, at 2:25 PM EDT.
Details
The Moon is Full in Aquarius on August 19, 2024, at 2:25 PM EDT.
A Full Moon occurs when the Sun in Leo at 27 degrees and 15 minutes forms an opposition to the Moon in Aquarius at 27 degrees and 15 minutes. The Full Moon is a time of culmination and the promise of fulfillment of that which was started at the New Moon. It is an emotional time – a time of romance, fertilization, and relationships.
The Leo Sun is proud and intensely individual–not content with simply being just one of the team. The Aquarius Moon, while individualistic as well, values independence and the team, community, and group spirit. The Full Moon illuminates this conflict.
When a Full Moon occurs, we can suddenly burst forth with proclamations and outpours that seem fresh and new, simply because they are not yet rationalized. In fact, a Full Moon illuminates feelings, attitudes, and circumstances that are already in existence.
This is a time of awakening to the need for others or to answer to humanitarian impulses.
This lunation is square Uranus, suggesting some tense, rebellious energy connected to our realizations and epiphanies. The Sun is aligned with retrograde Mercury, having just formed an inferior conjunction the day before, and our revelations are pivotal and surprising. While we’re anxious to move forward, we’re temporarily focusing on the past.

The Moon is New in Virgo on September 2, 2024, at 9:56 PM EDT.
Details
The Moon is New in Virgo on September 2, 2024, at 9:56 PM EDT.
This phase of the Moon occurs at 11 degrees and 4 minutes of Virgo. This New Moon in Virgo opposes Saturn.
The New Moon occurs as the Moon aligns with the Sun in the sign of Virgo.
A time of new beginnings, this New Moon presents an excellent opportunity for us to formulate some goals regarding “all things Virgo.” We’d do well to concentrate on new ways to get our day-to-day life organized. We might think about the keywords for this particular and earthy sign — such things as analytical, intelligent, reserved, critical, helpful, conscientious — and consider ways to enhance, develop, or incorporate these traits into our personalities.
Please note that Virgo is found somewhere in every person’s chart, and these are the areas of our lives most affected now.
The New Moon in Virgo is an excellent time to commit to personal goals that express the positive energies of the sign of the Virgin. These include:
- building our powers of healthy, constructive discrimination;
- rolling up our sleeves and getting down to some serious work;
- beginning a new project that requires attention to details;
- making lists, actively ticking off completed activities, and taking pride in our “little” accomplishments;
- starting a health regime, researching nutrition and nourishment, and paying attention to our diet;
- setting up specific routines that will help us manage our lives in constructive and mindful ways;
- and handling the finer details of our day-to-day life in an organized, step-by-step fashion so that we can free our minds of clutter.
We’re ready to make something special of our work, routines, or tasks. It’s a powerful time to transform our jobs, health, self-care programs, and habits. We’re filled with innovative, inventive, and unusual ideas. There can be some roadblocks to manage, largely related to responsibilities to others or to our spiritual or mental health, but we’re determined to start fresh.

The Moon is Full in Pisces on September 17, 2024, at 10:35 PM EDT. This is a partial Lunar Eclipse.
Details
The Moon is Full in Pisces on September 17, 2024, at 10:35 PM EDT. This is a partial Lunar Eclipse.
A Full Moon occurs now as the Sun in Virgo forms an opposition to the Moon in Pisces. The Full Moon is a time of culmination and the promise of fulfillment of that which was started at the New Moon. It is an emotional time – a time of romance, fertilization, and relationships.
This phase of the Moon occurs at 25 degrees and 41 minutes of Pisces, opposite the Sun at the same degree of Virgo. Its alignment with the Moon and square to Jupiter speak to the extravagant nature of this time, and its harmony with Uranus suggests we’re ready to embrace change and progress. There can be inflated feelings, so it’s wise to sit with them for a bit before taking action.
Note that this is the first eclipse of an eclipse set occurring along the Virgo-Pisces axis.
While the next eclipse after this one (chronologically) is in Libra, there will be a Lunar Eclipse in Virgo in March 2025, a Lunar Eclipse in Pisces in September 2025, a Solar Eclipse in Virgo in September 2025, a Lunar Eclipse in Virgo in March 2026, a Lunar Eclipse in Pisces in August 2026, and a Lunar Eclipse in Virgo in February 2027.
As the first in a sign set, this September eclipse can serve as the initial prompt, nudge, or push to make improvements in Virgo- and Pisces-ruled areas of life in our charts, and feelings of discontent can magnify.
Read more about this and other eclipses affecting our lives in Eclipses/Lunations.
This eclipse affects people with personal planets and points at 20 to 30 degrees of the Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces) and 0 to 1 degree of the Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn) the most significantly.
A Lunar eclipse is an especially potent lunation, in this case a potent Full Moon. Lunar eclipses are relationship-oriented. The “crisis” that these eclipses tend to elicit is a crisis of lack–a time when we suddenly realize a great need or want. The impact of the crisis can act to sever a relationship–it’s possible. But it can also bring two people together with a sudden awareness of a great need for each other.
Although Lunar eclipses are more relationship-oriented than Solar eclipses, they are not always about relationships between two people. They can trigger awareness of need in other areas of our lives, such as our relationship to work, to our health and bodies, and so forth. This is a time when matters come to light–things that have been brewing under the surface.
When a Full Moon occurs, we can suddenly burst forth with proclamations and outpours that seem fresh and new, simply because they are not yet rationalized. A Lunar eclipse is a more potent Full Moon, and its effects tend to last longer. Many astrologers believe that the effects of a Lunar eclipse last approximately six months.
Lunar Eclipses are about relationships and polarities. With the Virgo-Pisces service axis involved, this Lunar Eclipse presses us to look more closely at our needs, lacks, and wants. We are encouraged to find a balance between day-to-day functions and routines, physical health, and the need for order (Virgo) and vision, spiritual health, disorder, and the infinite (Pisces).
Virgo rules the tools and techniques we use to deal with day-to-day life, while Pisces rules the tools we use to deal with our spiritual selves. The key to balance lies in identifying and expressing our spiritual needs while maintaining order in our everyday lives. Neglecting either end of the axis will surely backfire–we would either be living in chaos or excessive order.
A crisis of sorts (which can be a crisis of consciousness) or sudden awareness of a lack in our lives provides us with a golden opportunity to explore our emotional needs within the context of the house polarity where the eclipse occurs in our natal charts. Relationships may be challenged, broken, or strengthened dramatically shortly after the eclipse. Our discovery is emotionally charged and dramatic. Epiphanies are likely at this time as we become acutely aware of our lack. This understanding can propel us into affirmative action.
However, it’s important to note that we’re temporarily in the dark about a matter at the time of an eclipse, and we’re seeing another area of life as if we’re looking at it through a magnifying glass. It’s distorted—we don’t yet have the full picture. This perspective does help us, ultimately, but it helps to remember that we’re missing something and to defer judgment.
Full Moons and Lunar Eclipses bring issues in our lives to fulfillment. Our emotions are heightened, and there is often some sort of drama involved with the house, sign, and any contacted planets activated by the Full Moon. Look to 24-25 degrees of Virgo and Pisces in your own chart (allow up to about a 5 degree orb when examining the planets and points it aspects).
The areas of life activated by the eclipse may see dramatic turns, after which the path is clear to move forward. Note that whatever happens at this time is nothing truly new. The issues have been brewing inside of us, and emotions have been building. Something comes to light at the time of the Lunar Eclipse, and if we get in touch with our emotions, we can get a better idea of what needs to change, or what needs to go.
This Lunar Eclipse in Pisces is bound to thrust us into a state of heightened awareness. It’s a time to take special note of your dreams, as well as insights or thoughts/emotions that seem to come from “out of the blue.” These could be creatively inspiring.
The range of emotions that Pisces registers is extraordinary, and this could be a time when we feel that enormous range. Around the date of the Full Moon Lunar eclipse, the idealistic side of us comes out full speed ahead. Some of us will be irritable and won’t know exactly why. Others will be moved towards romantic declarations or revelations. Still others will be walking around in a kind of daze, seeing only what they want to see while their common sense is temporarily “eclipsed.” With Virgo, we are acutely aware of imperfections. We see the flaws around us and perhaps become very tense and irritable, or we work hard at fixing them. To Pisces, however, imperfection is beautiful. At the time of the Lunar eclipse, we may suddenly see this Piscean “light.”
With the health and service axis (Pisces-Virgo) involved, health or work issues may come to the fore. As well, the ability to set boundaries to the amount of service we render can become a major issue. Situations that test our faith, or magnify our fears and doubts, may be part of the picture. Secrets may be revealed, and these can include discovering secrets of our own nature from deep within. For some, a new “calling” will surface in the coming six months. A new line of work that better matches our inner nature, desire to serve, or emotional make-up may unfold in the months following this eclipse, particularly if the natal Sun, sixth/twelfth houses, or tenth house is activated.
We may discover that we need more rest or attention to our spiritual nature than we are currently allowing ourselves. This is a time when lunar energy emerges and is most powerful. It’s a time when we can tap into our more idealistic, imaginative, and visionary nature. Our hearts open, and issues of trust and faith are in focus. Decisions made now are emotionally-driven.
With the Moon full and bright in the sky, symbolic “illumination” occurs in our own lives. However, these new feelings and revelations are emotional ones, as there is a sense of emotions bursting forth into our consciousness. It’s time to express ourselves, and to let things out of our systems. Of course, we might want to exercise some care while doing so, knowing that what is coming out of us is new and not particularly rational as yet.
This is a time to clear up past patterns that have been holding us back from personal fulfillment. We might open ourselves up to possibilities, examining the emotions that push to the surface, but finalizing plans should probably be saved for a later date.
In 2016, a Lunar Eclipse occurred at a similar degree as this Pisces one on September 16th, and in 1997, a total Lunar Eclipse occurred at a similar degree. It might be helpful to think back to issues in your life that were in effect in the last four months of 2016 and 1997, if applicable, to get an idea of how this 2024 Lunar Eclipse might affect you.
However, you can also look back in a general sense to eclipse sets occurring along the same Virgo-Pisces axis as the current one in effect from September 2024 to February 2027 for more information gleaned by looking to the past to understand themes in the present and future.
The following are also periods of your past, if applicable, that may have had similar themes to this current eclipse set:
Virgo-Pisces Eclipse sets (current, future, and some in recent history):
- March 2034 to February 2036
- September 2024 to February 2027
- March 2015 to February 2017
- September 2006 to February 2008
- March 1997 to September 1998
- September 1987 to August 1989
- September 1978 to August 1980
The following lists the set of eclipses falling along the Virgo-Pisces axis only (there are other eclipses in different signs between these):

The Moon is New in Libra on October 2nd, 2024, at 2:49 PM EDT.
Details
The Moon is New in Libra on October 2nd, 2024, at 2:49 PM EDT.
This phase of the Moon occurs at 10 degrees and 4 minutes of Libra.
The New Moon in the sign of Libra starts a good cycle in which to commit to personal goals that express the positive energies of the sign of the Scales.
We have a chance to build our negotiating skills without compromising our principles or needs, and without resorting to appeasement. It’s a time to work on re-balancing our relationships and to recognize our partners as teammates rather than adversaries.
With this potent Libra energy, we have the chance to make important changes in our lives. Libra teaches us to learn to make peace with those around us and to establish more harmony in our environments, establish a sense of order and balance in our lives, and recognize the value of partnerships. This is an ideal time to work on these skills.
Libra has an innate ability for–and love of–synthesizing opposites. Peace and harmony are the goals, but there’s a fine balancing act involved along the way that requires some commitment and effort.
This New Moon brings fresh and creative energy into our lives, and more specifically, into our relationships. This is a cycle in which balancing our close personal relationships becomes an urgent desire. Negotiations may be especially effective, as we are inclined to assert our needs in ways that don’t offend others. A Mars-Saturn trine can help us see the value of pacing ourselves and keeping our feet on the ground. Libra’s ruler, Venus, also harmonizes with Mars and Saturn.
However, this eclipse is square Mars, and some prematurity is possible. Mercury aligns with the Sun and Moon, pointing to a lot of thought and discussion going into our new beginnings. However, because this is an eclipse, we’re not seeing the whole picture.
As a Solar Eclipse, this New Moon packs more punch! It’s the fifth eclipse in a set of six occurring along the Aries-Libra axis from April 20th, 2023, to March 29, 2025. The first one was a Total Solar Eclipse in late Aries. While we’ve been focusing on building our independence and working on assertiveness, this October eclipse in Libra prompts us to consider healthy relating and how it affects the process.
A Solar Eclipse at approximately the same degree of Libra last occurred on October 3rd, 2005. Before that, it was October 3rd, 1986, and October 2nd, 1978. An eclipse set along the Aries-Libra axis most recently occurred from 2013-2016. Before that, it was from 2004-2006.
Major developments in the personal areas ruled by Libra in our charts are likely to occur over the upcoming months.
The above chart is excellent for seeing the fundamental influences and chart pattern of this New Moon. The chart below adds more details with additional points. Click to enlarge:

The Moon is Full in Aries on October 17, 2024, at 7:26 AM EDT.
A Full Moon occurs when the Sun in Libra forms an opposition to the Moon in Aries. The Full Moon is a time of culmination and the promise of fulfillment of that which was started at the New Moon. It is an emotional time – a time of romance, fertilization, and relationships.
The Aries-Libra polarity is a relationship axis, where Aries represents “self,” and Libra represents “other.” Where Aries is about self-assertion, Libra is about compromise.
Through the energy of the Libra Sun, we are aware of the need for relationships and all that comes with maintaining them–compromising, negotiating, graciousness, and balancing. The Aries Moon, on the other hand, is self-assertive, leading, and personally courageous.
This Full Moon urges us to strike a balance between meeting our personal needs and attending to the needs of a significant other, and between independence or autonomy and dependence or companionability.
The Libra Sun is diplomatic, equality-minded, and fair-minded. The Aries Moon, however, values authenticity over tact and is energized by independent efforts. The Full Moon illuminates this conflict.
Neglecting either end of the Aries-Libra axis will surely backfire on us. Ideally, we find a balance between the two energies, and this is what the Full Moon invites us to do.
This Full Moon is about emotional declarations. Something has been building inside of us, likely of a personal nature, and now is the time when the energy of the cosmos fairly demands that we let it out. Over the upcoming weeks, we will discover what this declaration means for us. For now, we can’t sit on our feelings. We need to express them.
The Full Moon illuminates the conflict between “me” and “you,” and between autonomy and sharing. With the Moon full and bright in the sky, symbolic illumination occurs in our own lives. However, these new feelings and revelations are emotional ones, as there is a sense of emotions bursting forth into our consciousness. It’s time to express ourselves and to let things out of our systems. Of course, we might want to exercise some care while doing so, knowing that what is coming out of us is new and not particularly rational.
This lunation reminds us to consider how we are honoring ourselves in the context of our close relationships. New revelations can occur now, particularly in the areas of our physical bodies, leadership skills, our ability to initiate and begin new things, and our close partnerships. We’re brave, determined, and resourceful.
This phase of the Moon occurs at 24 degrees and 35 minutes of Aries, affecting people born with personal planets and points at approximately 21 to 29 degrees of the Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn) most significantly.

The Moon is New in Scorpio on November 1, 2024, at 8:47 AM EST.
This phase of the Moon occurs at 9 degrees and 36 minutes of Scorpio. This New Moon harmonizes with Saturn, and we’re more able to pace ourselves and moderate our impulses.
In the sign of Scorpio, matters related to intimacy, control, power, money, and sharing will be a strong focus in the period ahead of this New Moon. New beginnings or fresh starts are possible in these areas.
The New Moon in Scorpio marks the beginning of a cycle, presenting an opportune time to commit to personal goals that express the positive energies of the sign of the Scorpion–passionate, resourceful, focused, probing, deep, and perceptive.
Scorpio New Moon cycles favor working on our self-mastery skills. We may want to pinpoint those things that make us feel out of control, such as addictions and debts, and work on freeing ourselves of these emotional burdens.
This New Moon cycle is also opportune for exploring what is missing in our lives that leads us to engage in these self-destructive behaviors.
There can be an opportunity to rid ourselves of “junk” in our lives–material and spiritual. With this potent Scorpio energy, we have the chance to make important changes in our lives.
Each sign teaches us valuable things, and one of Scorpio’s “lessons” involves learning to dig deeper into the mysteries around us instead of always being content with the status quo. Taking the time to understand others’ motives can enrich our feelings of intimacy, forgiveness, and meaning.
Scorpio also teaches us that dedication to one meaningful relationship or undertaking can be significantly more satisfying than spreading ourselves around. Here, “quality over quantity” applies.
We might want to use this cycle to focus on and develop one special project or relationship to help add purposefulness and depth to our lives.
It can also be a time to seek ways to release our fear of confrontations and heavy emotional situations. We’re discovering that although they may be uncomfortable, these situations can lead us toward psychological healing.
We can easily drum up support from others and motivation from within to accomplish our goals.

The Moon is Full in Taurus on November 15th, 2024, at 4:28 PM EDT.
A Full Moon occurs when the Sun in Scorpio forms an opposition to the Moon in Taurus. The Full Moon is a time of culmination and the promise of fulfillment of that which was started at the New Moon. It is an emotional event – a time of romance, fertilization, and relationships.
Full Moons always pit opposite signs of the zodiac against each other. They also invite us to work to achieve a balance between the opposing energies.
With this lunation, the contrast between earthy, practical, peace-loving Taurus and emotional, transformative, crisis-oriented Scorpio comes full bloom. The Moon in Taurus wants us to find emotional fulfillment through the simple, tangible things in life, while the Scorpio Sun draws our attention to complexities, intangibles, and mysteries.
The Full Moon illuminates this conflict between form (Taurus) and transformation (Scorpio), and between collecting (Taurus) and sharing (Scorpio).
This is a passionate and creative Full Moon, ripe with possibilities and learning experiences. Intimate relationship matters, such as personal comfort levels and values and sexuality, figure prominently now.
The Moon aligns very tightly with Uranus at the time of this lunation, adding an element of surprise to our feelings and revelations. The desire to experience something new, exciting, and bold can figure strongly.
There can be a strong urge–or need–to break free from old patterns in our relationships.
This Full Moon harmonizes with Neptune and Pluto, suggesting a strong sense of mission is with us as we discover, explore, and embrace our feelings.
This phase of the Moon occurs at 24 degrees and 1 minute of Taurus, affecting people with personal planets and points at approximately 20 to 28 degrees of the Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius) most significantly.
