Your income might increase, and there may be an opportunity to improve your future financial situation. However, you could be just as inclined to splurge on yourself, opting to plump up your nest or your store of personal possessions in order to feel more secure. Money problems from the past may clear up during this period if you use it appropriately—by developing budgets and working out ways to better manage your resources. You may be adding to your possessions, you might receive a large item or gift, or a major purchase or sale can occur now. A significant gift or bonus may come your way. A large ticket item that you have wanted for a long time might be purchased. You are likely to make bigger decisions about your material resources during this period - likely happy ones. This is a good time to work with financial institutions, shoot for a raise, or apply for a loan. You may need to curb an inclination to overspend - feeling good could bring you to the stores as you temporarily forget about the future! There can be real effort put forth in developing your talents and skills, and a stronger work ethic. There is a solid, noticeable relationship between effort and income - the more you put in, the more you receive - and less in the way of delayed rewards for your efforts. The positive circumstances listed here won't necessarily fall into your lap and are unlikely to come all at once. You need to keep your eyes open for opportunities in these areas of life. During this cycle, you bring a fresh, positive, and confident attitude towards your own self-worth and value, and to your practical affairs, including work and career.

The most favorable periods for these matters occur while Jupiter is in direct motion in your solar second house, from January 1-February 5, and from August 20-forward.

Saturn transits your solar fourth house this year. This transit will run until at least the end of 2019 for your decan. This transit is new to your decan, making its themes a little more intense in 2017, after which you become increasingly more comfortable with the energy.

Saturn here urges you to get serious about home, family, and domestic concerns. You are building your nest, not in a “plumping your nest” sort of way. In fact, you may be stripping some things away – perhaps even downsizing or de-cluttering – and adding structure to your domestic life. This is more about bringing better structures and functions to your home.

You face issues surrounding your attachments to the past during this period. Sometimes this manifests as literal re-organization of your home. Moving house is not typically associated with this transit as it would if, for example, Uranus was the transiting planet. If moves are made, you might encounter some resistance in yourself or the move might be a source of stress and worry; or you may be downsizing.

This may not be a time when you feel particularly brave in the outer world. However, reorganization in your home, and more importantly, in your soul, embodies the true nature of this transit. Many will go through a major “spring cleaning” inside. Limitations that came from early family conditioning will be brought to the fore. At first, there may be some frustration with your life to date, and how you have limited your opportunities because of early conditioning. A feeling of being alone and unsupported in life may dominate now. You may experience some distancing or frustrations regarding your parents. Family obligations may get in the way of your experience of pleasure and of the achievement of your personal goals. There may be some emotional distancing as well in your home environment. Your current living conditions may feel restrictive, limiting, too small or cramped (physically and/or emotionally), and this is an excellent time for taking care of this. Delays and slowdowns may be experienced in the areas of health, mobility, and career. However, all of these things occur in order that you face your responsibilities, become more self-sufficient, and more organized. Ultimately, you are learning to rely on yourself and to take care of things that you may have previously neglected but that have undermined your confidence in yourself and in your life. Working from home is a strong possibility during this period.

Uranus begins or continues its lengthy transit of your solar eighth house.

There could be some ambiguities or unexpected happenings surrounding money that are part of your life but that don’t originate from your own income. This includes such things as shared resources with a close partner, alimony, taxes, loans, and so forth. At times, this could throw you off balance. This position could also indicate a period of uncertainty surrounding your intimate relationships, and/or some experimentation with your sexuality.

You will be learning a lesson in detachment during this cycle – sudden changes in the support you receive from others can force you to become more independent financially. Prepare yourself for fluctuations by settling as many debts as you can. Watch for gambling or risk-taking with money (and a partner who may be doing same). You have Jupiter in your income sector helping to balance things out. For some, even if you owe more money this year, you are likely to have more coming in as well.

Neptune continues its lengthy transit through your solar sixth house this year, as it has been doing for a number of years,  casting some “fog” over your working life, health, and habits. You are more susceptible to medications, chemicals, and other such things during this long-term cycle, so keep this in mind. Stress more easily affects your health as well. Some confusion on the job may have been part of the picture, or your job may have steered towards compassionate service, charity, or other helping professions. Although Virgos are known for their ability to stick to schedules, Neptune’s presence here has made it more challenging to do so.

Note: Neptune continues to transit Pisces, but it travels through the 9- to 14-degree range. Neptune will not reach the beginning of your decan and opposition to your Sun/Ascendant until 2020.

Pluto continues its lengthy transit through your solar fourth house this year. This extremely long-term transit brings gradual but deep changes in your home or family life and your psyche. Your needs for nurture continue to transform and evolve. You are well beyond the acute elements of this transit.

Mercury, your ruler, travels quickly through the signs, covering a lot of ground in any given year. When Mercury is direct and in your own sign, more power to you. In 2017, this occurs from September 10-29.

Mercury’s retrograde periods are natural times for reflection, reassessment, and introspection. These occur in 2017 from December 19, 2016-January 8, 2017, April 9-May 3, August 12-September 5, and December 3-22.

Until November 2017, the North Node transits your solar twelfth house, and this suggests that some of the greatest joys - and challenges - come through learning about your inner world. Your attention turns to spirituality, downtime, and faith. Your path is to attempt to let go of unnecessary worry and guilt and to trust in a larger more spiritual plan.

From November 2017 forward, the North Node transits your solar eleventh house, and the North Node is pointing you in the direction of your association with groups, friends, and networking. You need to let go of any resistance you might feel about being "one of the crowd" in an effort to stand out as unique and special. You should be moving towards a more objective approach to your life this year, as well as cultivating true friendships. Your relationships with others - as well as your relationship with yourself - will benefit.
