What’s My Ascendant? (Rising Sign)
Look up your Rising sign (Ascendant sign)
If you are unsure of the sign of your Ascendant, you can determine it by entering your data below in this Ascendant/Rising Sign Calculator:
You might also use the Cafe Astrology’s Free report section to find your Ascendant sign (and other points)–preferred if your birth year is before 1970.
You need to know your birth time in order to determine your Ascendant. The Ascendant, house cusps, and points derived from these points are the most time-dependent factors in the birth chart. The Ascendant sign changes, on average, every two hours, but this is quite variable depending on how close the birth place is to the equator. It is not uncommon for a sign to ascend for only half an hour and another close to three hours, for example, and you see this happening the further you get from the equator.
Note: if there is an error in the Geonames atlas service (that is, if the service cannot find the time zone temporarily), the UTC offset will state “false” instead of a numerical value. Before pressing Submit, please change “false” to the appropriate time zone numeral. If you need help with determining this number, write to reports@cafeastrology.com.

**Please note that the Ascendant is highly sensitive to a correct time zone. While the calculator above is excellent for time zones for births from 1970 onward, it’s missing some of the historical time changes. Daylight saving time, in particular, was not standardized and varied greatly not only between states but often between towns and cities. If you were born before 1970, use our Free Report section and/or check your Ascendant with us at reports@cafeastrology.com to be certain.
