Full Moon
The FULL MOON occurs on Friday, November 23rd, 2018, at 12:39 AM EST.
Early Friday, the Full Moon occurs as the Sun in early Sagittarius forms an opposition to the Moon in Gemini.
The Gemini-Sagittarius polarity is a mental axis, where Gemini represents the “lower mind” and Sagittarius represents the “higher mind.” A Gemini Moon encourages us to think logically, while Sagittarius persuades us to think in a far broader manner. Sagittarius symbolizes the quest for meaning and ideas that expand upon the here and now. Gemini is quite comfortable in its immediate environment or neighborhood, while Sagittarius stimulates us to venture beyond. Neglecting either end of the axis will surely backfire on us. Ideally, a balance should be found between the two energies, and this is what the Full Moon invites us to do. This Full Moon is about communication, attitude, and our sense of adventure. Something has been building inside of us, and now is the time when the energy of the cosmos fairly demands that we let it out. Over the next two weeks, we will discover what this means for us. For now, we can’t sit on our feelings. We need to express them.
The Full Moon is a time of culmination and the promise of fulfillment of that which was started at the New Moon. It is an emotional time–a time of romance, fertilization, and relationships. With the Moon full and bright in the sky, symbolic “illumination” occurs in our own lives. However, these feelings and revelations are emotional ones, as there is a sense of emotions bursting forth into our consciousness. It’s time to express ourselves and to let things out of our systems. Of course, we might want to exercise some care while doing so, knowing that what is coming out of us is not particularly rational as yet.
This lunation is complicated. The Full Moon in Gemini is curious and hungry for ideas and information. It can bring sudden awareness to our lives and a rather urgent “need to know,” to get an important message across, to finish a communications project, or to make an announcement. Travel and communications are in sharp focus. However, Gemini’s ruler, Mercury, is retrograde, and the Full Moon is square Mars. The Sun is heading towards an alignment to Jupiter, and Mercury, even though it’s ahead of Jupiter, is heading for Jupiter and the Sun in retrograde motion, suggesting that we’ll be looking at past matters in new ways. Acting hastily or haughtily may trip us up, however.

Full Moon in Gemini Chart – November 23, 2018
This phase of the Moon occurs at 0 degrees and 52 minutes of Gemini forming an opposition with the Sun at 0 degrees and 52 minutes of Sagittarius, affecting people born with personal planets and points at approximately 0 to 5 degrees of the Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces) and 27 to 30 degrees of the Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius) most significantly.

This week: The Sun is in Scorpio until November 22nd, from which time the Sun is in Sagittarius; Mercury is in Sagittarius; Venus is in Libra; Mars is in Pisces.
The Sun is in Scorpio from October 23-November 22. The guiding principle of Scorpio is “I desire.” Scorpio is the sign of depth, intimacy, and extremes of feeling. Superficiality simply will not do with the Sun in Scorpio. We have the desire to get to the bottom of matters. Mediocrity does not satisfy either. All that is hidden, taboo, secret, or suppressed interests us. In Libra, we strived towards equality and fairness. Scorpio, however, instinctively believes that life simply isn’t fair. Scorpio’s energy is provocative, usually in a quiet way, as well as passionate, strong-willed, and intense. It can be an immensely healing and transformative energy. Jealousy, vindictiveness, beating a dead horse, and manipulative are some of the more negative expressions of Scorpio.
The Sun is in Sagittarius from November 22-December 21. With the Sun in Sagittarius, our focus shifts from the need for an intimate connection with a person and with ourselves, to the desire to reach out to the world and connect with something larger than ourselves. While the Sun moves through this fiery, mutable sign, we can take steps to increase our understanding and awareness of the world around us. We are more able to muster up the courage to expand our horizons and branch out into new ways of thinking. We can gain more confidence and optimism by focusing on the “big picture” as we move away from our focus on the details of mundane existence. Although we may be prone to overdoing our expectations, we have the opportunity to nurture our faith, hope, and vision under this influence.
Mercury is in Sagittarius from October 31-December 1, and then December 12, 2018-January 4, 2019. When Mercury is in Sagittarius, our thinking shifts from a need to plumb the depths of any given situation to the desire to learn about a wide range of topics. Ideals are sought, our thinking is more optimistic, and our faith increases. We are more equipped to believe and to persuade. What is fair and unfair concerns us most now. However, we are not always very precise under this influence.
Venus is in Scorpio from September 9-October 31, and then December 2, 2018-January 7, 2019. Deeply passionate relations are the focus with Venus in Scorpio. Superficial flirtations and contacts do not satisfy now, as we yearn for “body and soul” contact with someone special–contact that breaks the taboos, that is extreme and intense, and that is unforgettable. This is a highly emotional position for Venus. It is a passionate, sensual, and intense energy. Our relationships are immensely important to us, and we may even feel that they consume us. In fact, we tend to want to be consumed by them! Our drive is toward intense closeness, but blind faith in our partners is extremely hard for us now. Fears of being too vulnerable or of giving up our own power to others are strong. Scorpio is an “all or nothing” energy, and relationships tend to be somewhat of a rollercoaster ride as a result. Disdain for mediocrity and superficiality can compel us to create crises in order to feel alive and vital.
Venus is in Libra from October 31-December 2. We are more inclined to employ charm rather than aggressive behavior in order to get what we want during this cycle. Although Venus in Libra virtually lives for relationships, there is an air of cool detachment to this energy. We are very obliging with others–quite willing to negotiate and compromise. We can be especially idealistic about love. We prefer that things be done the “right” way, and are turned off by aggressive or uncouth behavior. The shadow side of this position is dependence, inconsistency, and superficiality. In an attempt to avoid unpleasant situations, we could easily gloss over deeper issues at play in our relationships. It’s probably best to avoid the trap of acquiescing to our partners but privately resenting the fact or thinking ourselves martyrs for doing so! This is also a time when we are more artistically inclined. We tend to seek balance in our personal environment.
Mars is in Pisces from November 15-December 31. We tend to feel less motivated to go after traditional goals, and more motivated to pursue spiritual or emotional drives during this cycle. We dislike confrontation during this trend. Our output is variable rather than straightforward, and our energy is similarly up and down. We may put others’ needs ahead of our own, and our more idealistic side comes to the fore. During this cycle, going after what we want becomes less straightforward and more complicated!
Saturn transits Capricorn from December 19/20, 2017, to March 21, 2020; and then finishes up its transit from July 1 to December 17, 2020. Read about Saturn’s transit through Capricorn here.
Jupiter entered Sagittarius on November 8th, 2018, and transits the sign until December 2nd, 2019. Read more about the Jupiter in Sagittarius transit.
Uranus transited Taurus from May 15, 2018, to November 6, 2018, and then from March 6, 2019, to 2025/6. We approach money and personal possessions in new ways and learn how to free ourselves from certain material constraints. Innovative ways to make ourselves comfortable emerge. We’re less inhibited about expressing sensuality, self-love, body love, and pampering. We’re challenging what we previously valued during this cycle. There can be abrupt changes with money, valuables, possessions, and income that lead to a reshuffling of priorities or values. Income might come from non-traditional sources or ventures. We’re bringing progressive ideas to the world of business. New ways of doing business, as well as making, viewing, and handling money are likely. Income and the energy we put into making money can be variable.
Uranus returned to the sign of Aries for a four-month stay.
Uranus entered Aries on March 11th, 2011, and continued its transit of Aries until May 15, 2018, and then from November 6, 2018, to March 6, 2019. The urge to start fresh, to break free from restrictive attitudes or circumstances, to totally redesign an area of our lives (or even our personalities), and to gain freedom through independence is strong with Uranus in Aries.
Romance & Relationships
Venus is in Libra from October 31st to December 2nd. Venus rules Libra and thus is dignified in the sign. Venus feels right “at home” in Libra, where she seeks to balance and harmonize. With Venus in Libra, we can easily be in love with love. We are more comfortable with a close partner with whom we can seek to have a balanced relationship. We are more inclined to employ charm rather than aggressive behavior in order to get what we want.
This week: On Wednesday and Thursday, Venus forms a semi-square to retrograde Mercury. A Mercury-Venus semi-square can point to some difficulties focusing and getting the right message across. There can be hurt feelings as we may be intellectualizing something that someone else takes to heart. We’re likely to bring up past matters now.

Venus contra-parallel Uranus November 16-17. Questions of freedom, change, specialness, and experimentation are raised in our relationships.
Venus semi-square Mercury November 21-22. Communications between lovers may feel superficial or unsatisfying, and perhaps awkward. We may be especially sensitive to what’s being communicated now.
Venus parallel Mars November 27-28. Favors romantic and sexual relationships. Intense passions.
Venus sesquiquadrate Neptune November 29. Romantic confusion as well as relationship ups and downs. Self-deceptions may come to light now.
Venus opposition Uranus November 30. Not a good time to start relationships. Independence is the reigning need. Some fickleness. Uncertainty about the desire to be close to someone. Freedom versus closeness.
The Moon & Timing
The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects. The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here and is indicative of the “outcome” of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology).
Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart for the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass. The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology. The following tables incorporate the modern planets, but some astrologers do not count Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in void Moon calculations.
The Void-of-Course Moon this Week:
Void-of-course Moon on Sunday, November 18th, from 3:05 AM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to the Sun), until the Moon enters Aries at 10:57 AM EST.
VOC Moon on Tuesday, November 20th, from 5:47 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a conjunction to Uranus), until the Moon enters Taurus at 6:44 PM EST.
VOC Moon on Thursday, November 22nd, from 4:59 AM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Pluto), until the Moon enters Gemini at 11:11 PM EST.
November 2018:
Timing with the Moon – Better Periods this Week for Electing New Initiatives
This week, the Moon is waxing until the Full Moon on the 23rd– a period that is generally considered favorable for new beginnings with exceptions. This Week’s Calendar

This Week in Astrology Calendar: November 18 to 24, 2018
This Week’s Aspects
Mars square Jupiter. Although we may have much enthusiasm for life and for new projects, over-confidence and over-estimation of what we can do are likely. We can be impatient if results of our efforts don’t materialize right away, and we can also be too focused on what we think should be and lose sight of what is possible. We are ready and willing to fight for our beliefs. We may be excitable and competitive. Jumping ahead without considering the consequences is the inclination, but can be costly. This energy is also associated with lawsuits or struggles involving differences in personal philosophies and principles. A feeling of urgency may make us come on stronger than we intend. The inclination towards taking risks is strong, and patience is short.
Sun trine Chiron. A sense of purpose or a “mission” is with us now, increasing our confidence. The desire to learn and grow through experiences and through others is strong. Problem-solving is favored.
Sun quincunx Uranus. Surprise elements make us feel out of control of our lives or the direction we would like to take. Disrupted plans or schedules. Unexpected events or change of plans.
Mercury semi-square Venus. Difficulties in social or romantic communication are possible today. On the other hand, we may make more efforts to be polite and to communicate. Hypersensitivity, and lack of mental discipline. Our minds wander.
Mars semi-square Pluto. Our desires are intense and difficult to satisfy under this influence. A tendency to bully and confront may dominate. Efforts to make changes could be thwarted, or power struggles emerge. The trick is to remain flexible and to develop strategies for achieving our goals.
Note: Times given in the table/calendar above are Eastern Time (ET).

NOVEMBER 18
The Moon continues to move through the sign of Pisces until 10:57 AM EST, after which it transits Aries. In Aries, the Moon is bold, impulsive, spontaneous, and enterprising. We want to start fresh, and we’re not as interested in the past as we are in what will work for us today and going forward. We don’t waste time on apologies or regrets now. Preferring to be first, we don’t take instruction easily with the Moon in Aries. We’re moving towards a Mars-Jupiter square which can add some pressure to the day, but it can also act to build our enthusiasm and confidence. We do need to watch for this going too far.
The Moon is void from 3:05 AM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to the Sun), until the Moon enters Aries at 10:57 AM EST.
NOVEMBER 19
With Mars square Jupiter today, we’re easily riled up, enthusiastic, or excited. Be watchful of making too much of a matter that doesn’t deserve the attention. The temptation to overdo, overexert, overstate, and so forth, can be in strong force now. We can be excited about our prospects, but perhaps too hasty, counting our chickens before they hatch, putting money into a venture that needs further review, or overestimating what we (or the world) can do. We may be so focused on what we think should be and lose sight of what is possible. We can also be excitable and competitive under this influence, ready to fight for what’s fair. This energy is also associated with lawsuits or struggles involving differences in personal philosophies and principles. A feeling of urgency may lead us to come on stronger than we intend. The inclination towards taking risks is strong, and patience is short. We can be impatient if the desired results of our efforts don’t materialize right away, which can lead to pushing things too hard or too soon. However, if we use common sense, this is a good time to stretch our imaginations and to entertain new possibilities. The Moon spends the day in the enterprising but perhaps impatient sign of Aries.
NOVEMBER 20
With the Sun in harmony to Chiron, it’s easier to make progress today since we’re open to learning and growing instead of worrying too much about who’s right or wrong. The Sun also forms a trine to the North Node, and this influence encourages us to aspire to our goals, rise to a challenge, as well as grow and improve. This is a particularly powerful day for making progress along emotional levels. The Moon continues its transit of enterprising Aries until 6:44 PM EST when it moves into stable, dependable Taurus.
The Moon is void from 5:47 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a conjunction to Uranus), until the Moon enters Taurus at 6:44 PM EST.
NOVEMBER 21
The Sun, traveling in the last degree of Scorpio, forms a quincunx to Uranus today, and we should watch for hasty actions. Surprise elements make us feel out of control of our lives or the direction we would like to take. Disrupted plans or schedules may be part of the picture now, and they throw us off center a little more than usual. The Moon spends the day in the sign of Taurus, however, and we crave more predictability and stability. With Mercury and Venus heading into a semi-square, there can be some nervousness or restlessness to manage.
NOVEMBER 22
The Sun enters the sign of Sagittarius today, where it will transit until December 21st. Although we may be prone to overdoing our expectations, we have the opportunity to nurture our faith, hope, and vision during this cycle. A Mercury-Venus semi-square today is complicated by Mercury’s retrograde status. Misrepresenting ourselves is possible now if we intellectualize matters that require a gentler touch. There can be tensions if we feel powerless or overshadowed as Mars and Pluto form a semi-square aspect. Resentment may be felt, and we could find it challenging to express ourselves in healthy, direct ways. Our desires can be both intense and difficult to satisfy. Efforts to make changes could be thwarted, or power struggles emerge. This is not an ideal day for clarity or straightforward interactions.
The Moon is void from 4:59 AM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Pluto), until the Moon enters Gemini at 11:11 PM EST.
NOVEMBER 23
Emotions run high. The Full Moon in Gemini early today brings information to light. This is a good time to release, reveal, or announce something, particularly communications or learning-related, that you want others to catch on to, but not for revealing a matter that you want to downplay since whatever comes to light now is likely to have some fanfare surrounding it. There can be a lot of information coming in today. Take it in, but process everything before making important decisions. The coming days are powerful for new ideas, but they’re genuinely new and require more time to develop and mature.
NOVEMBER 24
With Neptune at a station today, we may have a hard time focusing long enough to tackle a task adequately. Neptune turns direct now after several months of retrograde motion (since June 18th). Now and in the coming few weeks, confusing situations become clearer, and our creativity soars, or at least, we are more confident about applying our creativity in the real world. Instead of thinking of this period as a time of disillusionment, we can see it as a time of illumination–when we increasingly see the light. We have more faith in our dreams and visions, in others, and our belief systems. We begin to seek inspiration from external sources. While today’s station can point to some disorientation, we’re confident about taking steps to make ourselves feel more secure and safe as well as for pursuing family or domestic activities. We’re ready to support or defend our loved ones now. The Moon spends another day in the sign of curious, friendly Gemini.

Moon Signs This Week:
When the Moon is in Pisces
We may not want to face reality while the Moon is in dreamy, impressionable Pisces. It can be a wistful, sensitive, intuitive, and compassionate time. We are especially imaginative, and our intuition reigns under this influence. Boundaries and walls come down, as Pisces energy merges and blends. It's a time when details are overlooked and feelings defy description.
The Moon in Pisces generally favors the following activities: Imaginative undertakings, mystical or spiritual pursuits, inner development, music and drama, going on a retreat, activities involving water.
When the Moon is in Aries
We're motivated by a strong desire to start fresh. A gut instinct to begin something new is with us now, as well as the gumption to do so. Our pioneering impulses are strong, and we feel energetic, spontaneous, and enthusiastic. We may also be tactless and impulsive now. Excess energy is best channeled into physical activity.
People can be more self-motivated and also self-focused while the Moon is in Aries. It's a competitive rather than cooperative time. Accidents and tempers flaring are more likely than usual. This period is one of more personal courage.
The Moon in Aries generally favors the following activities: Quick actions that yield immediate results. Undertakings that involve the self and the personality. (Staying power may be lacking). Self-assertion, taking on challenges, beginning short-term projects.
When the Moon is in Taurus
We are motivated by the desire for serenity, security, peace, and comfort. The Moon is at her most sensual and constant in Taurus. Our basic impulses are to relax, resist change, and "stop to smell the roses." Life slows down a little, and we get comfortable. We may also be inclined to stubbornness and materialism under this influence.
While the Moon is in Taurus, people can be emotionally constant but inflexible. It's a time of stronger focus on personal needs and comfort levels, and a period of more common sense and attention to practical matters.
The Moon in Taurus generally favors the following activities: Substantial and material actions that yield solid results. Financial activities, and those involving personal possessions, applying for a loan, beginning a potentially long-term relationship, music, home decor.
When the Moon is in Gemini
Our basic instinct is to communicate, think, and learn under the influence of Moon in Gemini. We are motivated by a desire for variety and by an instinctive curiosity. The Moon in Gemini is light-hearted, breezy, spirited, and curious, but it can also be restless and fickle.
The Moon in Gemini generally favors the following activities: Mental and communicative actions, and more than one activity at once. Reading, learning, letters and emails, errands, writing, teaching, making connections, cafes, light and airy meetings, short trips.

THIS WEEK’S PLANETARY POSITIONS BY SIGN (General Trends):
Sun in Scorpio Who owes what, who owns what, and who decides these things: these are some of the major issues for you at the dawn of the cycle that now begins in your life. The only thing we really own is our consciousness; the only master who is never overthrown is oneself. These are lessons best learned early in this cycle. Master them, and you master everything. Dodge these issues and the great strength that could be yours will remain just out of reach. Understanding inner motivations, seeing through to the core: that’s your real path of power and enlightenment now.
Sun in Sagittarius You’re now embarking on a trek into a land of dreams – not passive daydreams, but vibrant visions of what may be. The time has come to stop looking at the world as it is and asking why. Now’s the time to imagine the world as it could be, and the question has become: “Why not?” You also cannot do everything you imagine now, but you cannot do anything you don’t KNOW you can do – so believe, and dare to make it happen! This means expanding your mind, your belief system, your whole base of knowledge and experience. Time’s a wastin’ – let no grass grow between your toes!
Mercury in Sagittarius A time of expanding your mental horizons is at hand. Religion, philosophy, law, and education are some of the things that may have special importance for you now. Being in touch with faraway people and places satisfies an intellectual yearning – curiosity will take you anywhere and maybe everywhere.
Venus in Libra As this new cycle takes hold in your life, romance and social interaction take on a greater importance for you. Harmonious ties to others are what you yearn for; refinement and elegance are what you seek. The ideal partnership, the perfect balance, the highest standards of truth and beauty – these are some of the things that quicken your pulse now.
Mars in Pisces There’s a martyr complex in the air, now that this new phase has begun in your life. How can you (or anyone) save the world? It’s a question you’ll probably ask yourself as this cycle continues. Defending the weak, undoing injustice, and tilting at windmills can be a big temptation. You might even win a few hands – but you’ll blister a couple if you’re not careful.
Jupiter in Sagittarius Faith, optimism, and a yearning to explore all kinds of new horizons: these are some of the focal points in your life at this time. Travel, education, and other ways to stretch your horizons open new doors of opportunity. Religious, philosophical, and cultural matters are likely to have special appeal for you now; transmitting ideas on a broader scale brings gain.
Saturn in Capricorn Responsibility, hard work, ambition, and achievement: these are the foundations you need to build on now, as a new cycle dawns in your life. And yet, there is a tendency to be a little too hard, perhaps a bit cold, in your approach to these things. Let ambition take you to the top, but don’t let it lull you into thinking that the end justifies the means.
Uranus in Aries A clean break with the past in some respects is signaled by the cycle you have just begun. What YOU need, YOUR freedom and independence, shattering old molds: these are the things that energize you and take priority in your life. Uniqueness and originality set you apart.
Neptune in Pisces Things spiritual and psychic take the driver’s seat of your imagination as you begin a new cycle. The fine arts and all manner of fantasies assume a larger-than-life importance. Surrendering to fate, karma, and other powers greater than merely mortal may be seen as the ultimate liberation. Pluto in Capricorn As this new phase dawns for you, the pursuit of social/political power and status has a way of seeming necessary and inevitable – and let nothing stand in its way. It starts out small but has bigger consequences than you’d think. Ambition, responsibility, a place for everyone and everyone in their place…
