Void of Course Dates this Month
The New Moon that occurred in the sign of Gemini on May 25th sets the tone for a good portion of June. By consciously tuning into positive Gemini energy, we learn through others simply by being curious, and we improve our social and communication skills at the same time. We open our minds to more information, and we learn to truly enjoy the variety of different personalities around us. This New Moon occurred at the time of an approaching Mars-Saturn standoff, however, suggesting some resistance or blockage to change or new beginnings. We’re now free of Mercury and Venus retrograde and shadow periods. These planets are moving at good speed in June. June is a busy but relatively easygoing month — there are no eclipses or major outer transits but many inner transits due to the now quick speeds of Mercury and Venus (Mars, too, but this isn’t something new). A Full Moon (Honey Moon) occurs on June 9th in the sign of Sagittarius and is supported by stationing Jupiter and challenged by Neptune and Pluto. This Full Moon reminds us of the need to reach out beyond our usual routines, thought patterns, and neighborhood. The Full Moon in Sagittarius is a time of expansion, so we should be especially aware of what we’d like to promote at this time, trying to put aside or out of our minds those things that won’t serve us well if blown out of proportion. Jupiter’s involvement does help us to focus on the positive, the future, and potential growth. A Venus-Mars sextile around the time of the Full Moon suggests people skills and mutually beneficial connections. This lunation’s quincunx to Pluto and square to Neptune point to some feelings of disappointment, bitterness, or difficulties accepting the truth involved, even as we aim to move forward. Jupiter turns direct on the 9th in the sign of Libra and Neptune turns retrograde in Pisces on the 16th. These shifts can point to a turning of the corner with certain projects and relationships and increased enthusiasm. With Jupiter direct, our confidence in ourselves, our partnerships, and the universe builds. Especially with Saturn retrograde, we are more lighthearted now. Neptune’s retrograde, however, can point to less apparent faith. Neptune’s station on the 16th casts a veil over our practical affairs. There can be a temporary loss of inspiration as we realign our dreams and wishes with what’s inside us. The retrograde cycle itself, which lasts until November 22nd this year, suggests a period of taking in, receptiveness, and some indecisiveness. It can be a period of feeling in limbo, but it might also be a time of great inner discovery. The New Moon on the 23rd occurs in the sign of Cancer, and we can tune into the more positive energies of the sign of the Crab. This is a time for feeding our foundation – all of that which we call “home”, including the foundation we have built inside of ourselves, needs to be tended to and honored. It’s a time for recognizing the importance of our family and our personal circle of friends and the security, sense of belonging, and safety we derive from them. There can be a lot of talks and thought involved now as well as the desire to put our ideas into motion. We have the wherewithal and courage to pursue our desires and stick with our plans, but we should avoid jumping the gun.

Mercury
Mercury is moving at a good speed this month. It transits Taurus until the 6th, and we continue to focus on useful, practical ideas and conversations. We are more interested in what’s real than what’s ideal. Mercury’s transit of Gemini from the 6-21 is a helpful one – Mercury is exceptionally comfortable in Gemini, a sign that it rules. Our curiosity is piqued, and we can be quite spirited when it comes to reaching out to others, learning, and sharing. Our thinking is sharp but not necessarily profound, as we tend to choose quantity over quality on a mental level. Mercury transits Cancer from the 21st forward. With Mercury in Cancer, we think, speak, and take in information on a deeper, more instinctive level than we did while Mercury moved through Gemini. We have less interest in what is universal, and more interest in what affects us personally and what affects the people around us. Our thoughts are more strongly colored by our emotions. As such, it is more difficult to be objective. Even so, in a general sense, with Mercury catching up with the Sun on the 21st, we begin to move from impulsive, creative thinking to a more objective approach to processing and communicating information. Mercury also aligns with Mars on the 28th and we’re excited about our ideas, ready to run with them. There can also be a lot of clearing the air with loved ones going on in the last week of June.

Venus
Venus continues its transit of Aries until the 6th. We have our priorities straight in areas of love and finance, thanks to a Venus-Saturn trine on the 1st that ideally helps us to see a little more clearly when Venus aligns with Uranus on the 2-3, asking us to shake up stale, outdated, or boring elements. Venus enters Taurus on the 6th, where she will transit until early July. This is a comfortable, content, and sensual cycle. It’s also a time for paying more attention to the value of things (and people). Venus is supported on the 9th, 20th, and 24th by Mars, Neptune, and Pluto respectively, and opportunities to get closer to the people we care about, as well as to business or financial goals, can arise. |
Mars
Mars continues its transit of Gemini until the 4th, continuing to stimulate diverse interests and a tendency to assert ourselves verbally (and with wit). We are versatile and flexible but could lack determination and focus. We can be quite excited about our ideas. Mars enters Cancer on the 4th, where it will transit until July 20th. We are considerably more cautious and conservative under this influence, but we will fight for, about, or on behalf of those people and things that are dearest to our heart. We are less likely to move straightforwardly towards our desires with Mars in Cancer, but we will make plans and strategies, and then pursue what it is we want quite effectively, with particularly good results around the 9th. |
