Void of Course Dates this Month
Mercury, still retrograde, returns to the sign of Scorpio on the 1st of December, where it will transit until December 12th. However, Mercury turns direct on December 6th after a retrograde cycle since November 16th. Mercury retrograde in Scorpio encourages a review of our desires, motivations, and, on a mundane level, our shared finances or other resources.
The New Moon energizes the sign of Sagittarius on December 7th and awakens the adventurer in us all. This lunation offers us the opportunity to focus on goals that will increase our understanding and awareness, give us the courage to expand our horizons, and gain confidence and optimism from a broader perspective. With this potent Sagittarius energy, we can find ways to transcend the details of day-to-day life and nurture our faith, hope, and vision. This New Moon forms a square to Mars and Neptune, which are approaching a conjunction, and we should watch that we don’t go over the top or attach ourselves to impractical ventures.
A semi-square between Uranus and Neptune occurs on the 15th, and we can feel particularly inspired, although we may feel restless if our dreams are no longer fulfilling us or stimulating our hopefulness. We should watch for impractical ventures and unusual tangents that may not last. This aspect previously occurred multiple times since August 2017 and will happen again in May 2019.
On the 22nd, the Full Moon occurs in the sign of Cancer (in the first degree). There can be a sudden need/desire to connect with our families or our own hearts. Something is exposed or illuminated, prompting us to get in touch with those things in our personal lives that we may have been neglecting or putting off.
While Jupiter and Saturn form a semi-sextile, exact on the 27th, we are rarely happy-go-lucky, even with Jupiter in its own sign, Sagittarius, as we have a strong sense of our responsibilities, although we may not feel clear about how to bring everything together. We may be second-guessing our plans, concerned that we’re not seeing them realistically.

the Sun
The Sun continues to transit the sign of Sagittarius until the 21st. This is a period for visions and questions; for believing and daring to experience life. The New Moon on the 7th in Sagittarius gives us more oomph to explore and expand. The Sun enters Capricorn on the 21st, and we become far more concerned with the material world. We are especially goal-oriented now, and all those traits that help us to reach our goals come into strong focus: organization, discipline, and responsibility, for example.
Mercury
Mercury transits Scorpio until the 12th, and we are compelled to dig much deeper than the surface of matters. Mercury is retrograde until the 6th and then enters Sagittarius on the 12th. Mercury begins retracing its steps now in direct motion from the 6th (its shadow ends on December 24th). We are curious, questioning, and brave with our thoughts and ideas during the Mercury in Sagittarius cycle, particularly around the 20-21 when Mercury aligns with Jupiter and our minds are hungry for new ideas. Ideals are sought, our thinking is more optimistic, and our faith increases. We are more equipped to believe and to persuade. However, we are not always very precise under this influence.
Venus
Venus enters Scorpio on December 2nd and will transit the sign until January 7th, 2019. Venus first moved into Scorpio on September 9th, but before completing its transit, it turned retrograde and later retreated into the sign of Libra. Now, Venus returns to Scorpio in direct motion, and this time will go all the way. Our appetite for intimate connection is powerful.
Mars
Mars spends most of the month in the sign of Pisces, entering Aries on the very last day of December (and the year 2018)! We may put others’ needs ahead of our own during this cycle, and our more idealistic side comes to the fore. Desires are complicated and the route to their satisfaction, perhaps even more so. Mars enters Aries on December 31st. This is a self-centered, me-first, spontaneous, and direct energy. We seek out a challenge, and we aim to win or come out on top, but we can also be quite impulsive.
