New Moon in Libra, October 3, 2005 at 6:28 AM EDT, at 10° 19′.
The New Moon is a time of rebirtha time when we are given a chance to start fresh. The New Moon in the fair and compromising sign of Libra will occur on October 3, 2005, at 6:28 AM EDT.
What does that mean for you? The New Moon in Libra presents an opportune time to commit to personal goals that express the positive energies of the sign of the Scales:
- build our negotiating skills without compromising our principles or needs, and without resorting to appeasement;
- work on our tact and diplomacy by considering others’ feelings;
- slip into our partners’ shoes and illuminate ourselves;
- recognize our partners as teammates rather than adversaries;
- make an effort to appreciate and understand our partnerships, and if we are unattached, make resolutions regarding our possible partnership needs;
- find ways to bring balance, harmony, and grace into our environment.
A time of new beginnings, this New Moon is an especially potent one because it’s an annular Solar Eclipse. Because this solar eclipse occurs in the relationship-oriented sign of Libra, one-to-one relationships will be the focus. One-to-one relationships include romantic partnerships and marriages, business partnerships, very close friendships, and adversaries as well! Major developments in these areas are likely to occur over the course of the next few months. However, not everyone will feel the effect of the eclipse with the same intensity. Those whose personal planets are activated by the degree of the eclipse will feel its effects on a very personal level. To personalize the meaning of this eclipse in your life, see our article on this Solar Eclipse here.
An eclipse occurs close to the nodal axis, and this eclipse is conjunct South Node in Libra. With the North Node in Aries and the South Node in Libra, we receive the message that two reasonably independent people who each possess a strong sense of individual identity are more likely to make a relationship work. The old adage that you must love yourself before you can love someone else fits here. Over-identifying with your partnership, or resorting to appeasing your partner, are things that can undermine a relationship.
Saturn sextiles the eclipse with just over a one degree orb. This is a supportive aspect that adds stability and potentially favorable outcomes. The eclipse also receives a supportive trine from Neptune, suggesting that if we follow our hunches with regards to how we can better relate to others, we might just find some real solutions to any relationship problems we have been working through.
Some of Libra’s “lessons” involve learning to make peace with those around us, as well as in our environments; establishing a sense of order and balance in our lives; learning to consider others’ feelings and needs without resorting to appeasement; and recognizing the value of partnerships. This is an ideal time to work on these skills. Libra has an innate ability to, and love of, synthesizing opposites. Peace and harmony is the goal, but there’s a fine balancing act involved along the way that requires some commitment and effort.
The New Moon will occur at 10 degrees and 19 minutes of Libra (10°19′). Where is that position in your own natal chart? Look to the affairs of that house for a more personalized meaning of the New Moon. Read more about the New Moon in the houses.
