New Moon in Aquarius, January 29, 2006, at 9:15 AM EST, at 9°32′.
The New Moon is a time of rebirtha time when we are given a chance to start fresh. The New Moon in the progressive, intelligent sign of Aquarius will occur on January 29th, at 9:15 AM EST.
What does this mean for you? The New Moon in Aquarius is a good time to commit to personal goals that express the positive energies of the sign of the Water Bearer:
- solve a problem that requires thinking “outside of the box”;
- look to the future with a brand new, positive, and hopeful vision;
- brainstorm and socialize; focus on extending a friendly hand, receiving support, and expressing platonic love for those around you;
- give your emotions and passions a “break”, as you develop more objectivity and some detachment from past haunts;
- learn how something (or someone) works;
- revitalize yourself through experiences that are new or simply different;
- reach out to people in your social circle and in your community, and recognize the value of your friendships and social networks;
- recognize that some level of detachment and distancing ourselves from our habits and attachment to the past will help us break away from destructive behaviors that are holding us back.
With this potent Aquarius energy, we have the chance to make progressive changes in our lives. This New Moon is a challenging one, however. It is conjunct Chiron and Mercury, and opposed by Saturn. Tensions and obstacles are likely, as we feel literally “opposed” or thwarted by others and by circumstances in our attempts to assert and actualize ourselves and our plans. It’s time to make some solid yet realistic plans, and to set the stage for reaping the rewards from our new beginnings, as little or big as they may be, in approximately two weeks’ time after the Full Moon occurs.
Aquarius teaches us that it can be all too easy to slip into feelings of being alone in the world (“it’s me against the world”) and to forget that there is support to be found, if only we reach out and find it. Similarly, there are solutions to our problems, if only we develop faith that answers are available to us, and we reach out to find those solutions. It is a time to consider, appreciate, and value our place in the community and in our social circle, and to give something back.
The New Moon will occur at 9 degrees and 32 minutes of Aquarius (9°32′). Where is that position in your own natal chart? Look to the affairs of that house for a more personalized meaning of the New Moon. Read more about the New Moon in the houses.

What does that mean for you? The New Moon in Aquarius presents an excellent time to commit to personal goals that express the positive energies of the sign of the Water Bearer:

This month’s New Moon is a fun one, as it is conjunct Mercury and Neptune, sextile Pluto, and trine Jupitera configuration that promises new ways of thinking, positive changes, and plenty of creative inspiration. This month’s New Moon seems to be gently nudging us into new experiences and challenging us to revamp our way of thinking to incorporate more humanitarian concerns, as well as intelligent compassion. Neptune adds a dreamy, compassionate element to the normally electric sign of Aquarius, and the trine to Jupiter boosts the sign’s social and enthusiastic nature at the same time.
New Moon periods are generally considered favorable times for beginning new projects and formulating resolutions, and this particular New Moon is a graceful and intelligent, if subdued, lunation. Last month’s New Moon was considerably heavier than this month’s, which seems to be urging us to reach outside of ourselves and gather strength and hopefulness from what we find “out there”. It can be too easy for us to slip into feelings of being alone in the world (“it’s me against the world”) and to forget that there is support to be found, if only we reach out and find it. Similarly, there are solutions to our problems, if only we develop faith that answers are available to us, and we reach out to find those solutions. The New Moon will occur at 20 degrees and 16 minutes of Aquarius. Where is that position in your own natal chart? Look to the affairs of that house for a more personalized meaning of the New Moon. Read more about the New Moon in the houses.
