When the Sun conjuncts Uranus in the Natal Chart
Sun conjunction Uranus
With the Sun conjunct Uranus aspect in your natal chart, it comes naturally for you to question tradition and sometimes rebel against whatever is already established. It doesn’t mean you consistently break all the rules, but you more quickly question them, especially those that simply don’t make much sense to you.
With your huge distaste for routine, you work best when you have some say as to when and how they get things done. You often rebel against routines and rules, even if you’ve initiated them! While you might look for the escape clause if you feel overly confined or tied down, this is largely due to a need to answer to your own intuition. You prefer room for spontaneity and space to get in touch with your instincts. Things have to feel right for you to pour your energy into them. Not one to follow the crowd, you check in with yourself first and foremost. To navigate this aspect, it can be helpful to find ways to incorporate flexibility and spontaneity into your daily life, while also recognizing the importance of structure and routine in certain areas.
Filled with self-integrity, you avoid labeling people and are most offended when others attempt to label or stereotype you. Although progressive, you can be maddeningly stubborn at times. This aspect can also lead to a certain level of unpredictability, which can be challenging for those around you. You do enjoy a certain level of excitement in your life, you do accept change as exciting, and you can be very open-minded–yet on a personal level, you sometimes stubbornly stick to your ideas and resent anyone who tries to push you into doing something you don’t believe in.
When you were born, the Sun, as the ego, joined forces with Uranus, the reformer, and your identity rides strongly on being unique. You don’t appreciate being compared to others–you’d rather be placed in a class of your own.
You’re inventive, creative, and spirited, often serving as a beacon of these qualities. You hold your personal space and sense of freedom dear, resisting anything that seems to threaten your individuality. This unique trait of yours is a source of inspiration and confidence, setting you apart from the crowd. You’re refreshingly honest, highly independent, intuitive, and somewhat erratic or inconsistent. People often describe you as quirky, and you are nothing if not interesting.
Themes sometimes associated with the Sun conjunct Uranus are insomnia, anxiety, issues with electricity, vision disturbances, twitching, and spasms. You need healthy outlets for your nervous tension and sensitivity.
You gravitate to (and have an innate understanding of) metaphysical, psychological, spiritual, scientific, and astrological subjects. You are not especially made for business, not because you lack skills, but because you hold yourself to high principles. This aspect can make you more inclined towards unconventional or innovative career paths, where you can express your unique ideas and values.
You seem to attract unusual experiences, people, and situations your way. Experimental, inventive, and original, your ideas are often ahead of their time.

General discussion of Sun-Uranus aspects.
The Conjunction Aspect
Planets and points that form a conjunction are energies that are united. They are blended; therefore, they act together. The closer they are to conjunction, the more subjective these combined energies are. These planetary energies don’t stand alone, and they have a difficult time truly acknowledging each other as distinct or separate.
A conjunction is zero degrees. In other words, if two planets or bodies/points are zero degrees apart (that is, at the same degree and in the same sign), they are said to be conjunct. However, it’s rare that planets and points are precisely zero degrees apart. Astrologers allow an “orb of influence” for an aspect that helps them judge whether these bodies are conjunct. For example, if an astrologer allows an orb of 7 degrees for a conjunction, any planet or point that is up to 7 degrees apart from another planet or point is considered conjunct.
Note that with the Sun and Moon, many astrologers allow a larger or wider orb, such as 10 degrees, for conjunctions.
Note that with conjunctions of the Sun, we may not easily see the traits of the planet it aligns with, but others readily recognize them. The closer the planet is to the Sun, the likelier this is the case. As such, in this case, Uranian traits are so second nature to you, that you may hear these descriptors of you, but it takes time for you to absorb them.
Alternate interpretations of the Sun-Uranus conjunction in the birth chart:
Sun conjunct Uranus: The Sun in conjunction to Uranus indicates that {child’s name} will be eager to experiment with new possibilities. In fact, he may seem to invite situations which are unusual in some way. It’s quite possible that Father is independent or free-spirited, and if that is the case, {child’s name} is certainly likely to model that image until he finds his own sense of identity. {child’s name} will appreciate the room and opportunity to exercise inventiveness and independence, but may need to learn how to balance a tendency toward revolutionary attitudes and actions with personal responsibility.
While this aspect can suggest some insurgency against authority, other elements in the chart will indicate how powerful this
particular quality will be.
— Interpretation from the Child report.
“A continuous nervous tension pervades you which you have to fight down and bring in line with the needs of your life. You have a quick sharp mind, highly intellectual if trained, but inclining to the sensational if left untrained, and in any case erratic, high-strung, and worrisome. Abstractions appeal to you more than realities; the intellectual more than the material. The result is that you are baffled, confused, and made nervous when the realistic world demands attention. You should practice relaxation and resist an impulse to get along without sleep, which you need if you are going to keep your nerves in shape.
Your mind has a way of working overtime even when you are asleep – with the result that this position often accompanies attacks of insomnia. The nervous energy is given constructive bent, and through aptness, perceptivity, and perseverance you will go far along intellectual or creative lines.
You are not cut out for business, though your versatility will permit you to do anything. You have a kind of pride in emulating Goethe’s Universal Man, to whom no field was closed and who could master any branch of knowledge or endeavor.
Health is an important consideration in your life, and you should take especial care that you aren’t made ill by nervousness, worry, or by one of the so-called neurotic ailments. Your emotional nature, after having been pretty turbulent, settles down to a sort of cold, dispassionate, and analytical acceptance of human relations as you have found or created them.
{If you also have Venus square Mars: But your Venus square Mars brings a sort of perpetual rebellion that will keep your emotional life in turmoil till you master it.}
Impersonality and objectivity will show you the way to success and contentment – and you are well equipped to know the significance of the ideal state in which (to quote Walter Lippmann) “The intellect has become a passion, and the passions are cold.” You discover interest in the occult, from which you could make a successful career or a stimulating hobby.” — From the Heaven Knows What report.
“The Sun is making contact with the planet Uranus in your birth chart meaning that you’re a highly-talented and unique
individual, determined to carve your own destiny rather than follow traditional paths. You’re brimming with original and
innovative ideas, which you’re eager to put into action. Your goals may change during the course of your life, but this
doesn’t concern you, as long as you’ve a range of options.
Doggedly independent, you like to be given the freedom to explore your talents and to learn by your own mistakes. You respect other people’s individual rights, and expect them to respect yours. It’s not that you’re selfish. Quite the contrary. Your goal is to use your talents and ideas for the benefit of other people, perhaps even the whole of humanity.
You’ve strong will power and are a leader rather than a follower, refusing to bow to another person’s will. Others may see you as arrogant, willful and disruptive at times, but they are attracted to your electric personality. Like moths to a flame they are fascinated by your tremendous energy and the unique manner in which you view life.
You often have flashes of intuition and are capable of sudden, decisive action, which can take other people by surprise. It’s possible that you’ve inherited your talents from a male member of your family, in particular your father. It’s likely that your father, or an important father figure, has had a marked effect on your life.
Perhaps you were encouraged to break free of tradition in order to develop your interests, or perhaps the absence of a dominant male meant that you experienced a lot of freedom as a child. In some cases, this influence can indicate a strong father figure against whom you rebel. Either way, it’s your need to be treated as an individual that’s paramount. Life is full of surprises and that’s the way that you like it.”
