January 1
Happy New Year! A powerful trine between the Sun and Mars in the practical and persistent earth signs of Capricorn and Taurus makes us feel vital and strong. However, tense Mercury-Mars and Saturn-Pluto aspects suggest some frustrated communications and feelings of blockage. The Moon enters Aquarius this morning, suggesting a desire to do something different and new. Rebelliousness is a very possible manifestation of the combined energies today. Do your best to keep your cool!
January 2
The Moon is in progressive Aquarius today. Broader ideas are more important to us than personal concerns just now. With Mercury finishing up in Sagittarius (it will enter Capricorn tomorrow), and semi-square Jupiter, we could easily make mountains out of molehills today. Decision-making may be hasty and somewhat impaired, and the tendency to exaggerate is high.
January 3
The Moon enters Pisces this morning, spiritualizing and sensitizing us at a deep level. While we are more compassionate emotionally, Mercury’s entrance into Capricorn brings with it a need to cut things down to size. Our speech is no-nonsense, and our thought patterns and communication styles become more logical, orderly, and organized. Realism enters the picture and precision becomes important to us. During this cycle that lasts approximately three weeks, we need to be wary of becoming too rigid in our thinking. We may come across as cold or harsh. Realism need not imply pessimism!
January 4
A rather pleasant, if not spacey, day is ahead with the Moon in dreamy and sensitive Pisces, the Sun and happy-go-lucky Jupiter forming a harmonious sextile, and Mercury in a tense aspect with otherworldly Neptune. Early in the day, the Moon sextiles the Sun and then trines Jupiter–aspects that elevate our moods and offer increased clarity. What we want and what we need are in harmony, and this feeling promotes cooperation. Our logical thinking skills are a bit foggy today, however, so avoid signing on the dotted line. Instead, enjoy the feeling of good will generated by the dreamy cosmic influences today.
January 5
The Moon enters Aries today at 9:45 AM EST, signaling a new beginning of sorts. Emotional directness and impulsiveness are with us now. We have an emotional need to start fresh on some level, and we have the energy and initiative to do so, particularly with Mars (the dispositor of today’s Moon) involved in a grand cross. If we don’t over-reach, we can minimize frustrations that come from biting off more than we can chew. Additionally, Venus is contra-parallel to Mars, and our passions and romantic impulses are intense.
January 6
The First Quarter Moon occurs this afternoon, when the Sun in Capricorn squares off with the Aries Moon. There is a crisis theme surrounding any quarter Moon phase as we feel compelled to take action. Shortly after, we are made aware of how our actions affect those close to us, perhaps through trial and error. We become aware of a conflict between what we want and what we need. This can cause us to be provocative with others, or it can spur us on towards finding answers to problems. The Moon is in Aries all day, and the Venus-Mars contra-parallel aspect arouses our passions.
January 7
The Moon is in Aries and is void from 9:34 AM to 2:09 PM EST, when it enters Taurus. During the void period of the Moon, try to stick to routine. Actions taken and decisions made during void periods generally amount to nothing. They are best used for review, wrapping up projects, and research. With the Moon’s entrance into the earthy and content sign of Taurus this afternoon, certainty and stability become important to us. We are more self-indulgent, sensual, calm, and perhaps complacent under this influence. Disposited by retrograde Venus, we are likely to feel a stronger connection with our pastdaydream about past loves or review our finances, for examplerather than a desire to forge ahead or to make sweeping changes.
January 8
The planet of communication and thinking, Mercury, forms an easy, opportunity-laden sextile to electric Uranus today. Don’t dismiss ideas that seem to come “out of the blue”. We’re tuned in to the future right now, and we have the chance to solve long-standing problems by thinking “outside of the box”. At the same time, the Moon in steady Taurus keeps our feet on the ground and our eye on the prize. A good time to start a project occurs between 8 PM and midnight tonight (EST).
January 9
A mostly pleasant day is in the forecast today. The Sun and Moon both occupy earth signs and are in a harmonious trine in the morning. In fact, until the Moon switches to Gemini at 9 PM EST, all of the personal planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Mars) are in the earth signs, Capricorn and Taurus! Practical, down-to-earth, and cautious energy surrounds us. From 2 PM to 9 PM, the Moon is void, suggesting that we should take the time to review and reflect rather than push forward with new plans.
January 10
The lively, fickle Gemini Moon stands in contrast to the largely Earth energy of the personal planets. We are itching for a bit of variety in our lives right now, and we deal with this either by expressing edginess and restless, or by seeking out new information and/or people to satisfy our itch. The Moon squares Uranus and sextiles Saturn todaytwo very different energies (the first is de-stabilizing and the second is stabilizing) that somehow seem a perfect fit for the dual nature of the Moon in Gemini the Twins.
January 11
The Moon is in Gemini again today, serving up versatile, curious, and fickle energy. We’re bound to feel somewhat restless, as we seek out new avenues for exploration and self-expression. Gemini is a curious, chatty, and variety-seeking sign. At 8:46 PM EST, the Moon opposes Pluto and then enters into a void period that lasts until tomorrow morning when it enters Cancer. Things can become intense this evening as a result–superficial things just don’t seem to satisfy us anymore.
January 12
The Moon leaves playful Gemini and enters soulful Cancer at 5:50 AM EST today. Safety and security are motivating factors now. The Moon feels right at home in Cancer, the sign that it rules. Some of the tension we have been feeling dissipates. It’s an excellent time to putter around the house, do domestic chores, and spend time with family. Tonight, the Moon forms a harmonious trine with Uranus, suggesting pleasant changes or surprises. While Cancer energy disinclines us towards idle chatter, the upcoming trine between Mercury and Mars energizes our communications and keeps us alert.
January 13
We are likely to come up with some fabulous ideas today with Mercury in harmonious aspect to the dynamic Mars-Jupiter opposition. It’s a great day to brainstorm. The Sun and Venus align in Capricorn, pushing relationships and pleasure into our consciousness. At the same time, Sun-Venus forms an active aspect with Uranus, promising surprising feelings, events, and circumstances. New insights into our relationships (especially past ones) are probable under this electric influence. Enthusiasm reigns today.
January 14
It’s the emotional, romantic Full Moon today. The practical and mature Capricorn Sun exactly opposes the sentimental Cancer Moon, emphasizing the polarity of these signs. Capricorn urges us to be responsible for ourselves, to contribute to society, and to develop our careers. Cancer encourages us to honor our home base, emotions, and nurturing. We need to strike a balance. The Sun is conjunct Venus, the ruler of pleasure, romance, and relationships. At the same time, both the Sun and Venus form an active aspect with electric Uranus. This is an especially moody and potent Full Moon, and we may find ourselves attracted to unusual things…and people! Surprises are in store.
January 15
The Moon is in playful and dramatic Leo all day. We are feeling creative, expansive, and magnanimous under this influence. Mars opposes Jupiter as well, adding fuel to the fire! Over-estimating what we are capable of doing characterizes this transit. We may get fired up over opposing viewpoints, and we may need to adjust our plan of action. Errors in judgment made now are likely due to impulsiveness and the overlooking of crucial details. Today, excessive pride can get the best of us.
January 16
The Moon is in playful Leo all day again today, highlighting our need to express ourselves creatively through entertainment, pleasure, and romance. We are still under the influence of a feisty opposition between Mars and Jupiter. We dream big dreams, but if they are too big, we face frustration and disappointment. Try not to let a big ego interfere with the pleasurable potential of the day. From 7:35 PM EST until 4:49 AM tomorrow, the Moon is void-of-course. During this void cycle, it’s best to stick to routine rather than to jump into something new.
January 17
The Moon enters Virgo at 4:49 AM EST, and Virgo’s ruler, Mercury, conjuncts the planet of love and pleasure, Venus. Graciousness, charm, tact, and cooperation are over-riding tendencies under the influence of this conjunction. Conversations are lighthearted and playful rather than deep and probing. Although a Virgo Moon normally conveys a disciplined energy, the Mercury-Venus combination favors play over work. Add tomorrow’s exact Mars-Neptune square and Mercury’s semi-square to electric Uranus to the pot, and we’re simply not focused or disciplined! It’s time for a bit of fun.
January 18
Mars squares off with mystical and moody Neptune today, suggesting that inspiration comes from unusual sources. Staying focused and organized will be an impossible challenge today, especially with the scattered energy of a Mercury-Uranus semi-square in the planetary mix. We can have flashes of insight today, but attention to mundane tasks will be difficult. It’s best to enjoy the moody and changeable energy of the day rather than begin a new project or affair.
January 19
The Moon’s last aspect before changing signs from Virgo to Libra this afternoon is a healthy trine to the Sun. When the Sun and the Moon are in harmony, it’s easy to put our best face forward and to cooperate with others because we are not conflicted on the inside. What we do and what we feel are in harmony, and we benefit from this clarity. Saturn forms an awkward aspect to Uranus today, however, and there is a conflict concerning whether we should stick with tradition, law, and order, or whether we should take a risk. Just after midnight tonight, the Sun moves from Saturn-ruled Capricorn to Uranus-ruled Aquarius.
January 20
The Sun enters Aquarius very early today. With the Sun in Aquarius, we are motivated by our hunger for knowledge, experience, and originality. Innovation is more important to us than convention. We become more aware of what is outdated in our lives, and strive to find new perspectives and new ways to experience life. The class distinctions, structure, and order that Capricorn found appealing now seem to be too rigid. The freedom of the individual becomes far more significant. We strive to free ourselves from some of the restrictions, inhibitions, and limitations that now feel constraining rather than safe. The Moon is in peace-loving, compromising Libra all day.
January 21
The Sun entered Aquarius yesterday, and Mercury enters Aquarius tomorrow. We are shifting towards Uranus-ruled energy and attitudes, and we feel a little more “alive”, independent yet sociable, and rather individualistic as well. The Moon is in equality-minded Libra–an air sign like Aquarius. We are motivated by the urge to create harmony around us. We are at our most pleasant, rational, and compromising today.
January 22
Mercury enters Aquarius today, and we are both hungry for knowledge and open to new and original ideas. We begin to think “outside of the box”, and our thinking becomes more progressive and objective. Our communication and thought patterns are more spontaneous, somewhat fragmented, and liberal. This morning, the Moon enters passionate Scorpio and then squares the Sun. We become aware of a conflict between what we want and what we need. This can cause us to be provocative with others, or it can spur us on to finding answers to problems.
January 23
The Moon is in passionate and intimate Scorpio today, and loving Venus trines passionate Mars. Romantic activity, sexual attraction, creative action and self-expression in business and the arts, active participation in social functions, and creative initiative are favored under this influence. It’s easy to act upon our social and romantic needs successfully today. Midday, our emotions are expansive and warm with the Moon’s conjunction to Jupiter. The Sun also conjuncts the wounded healer, Chiron, today. It’s a creative day all in all.
January 24
At 1:39 PM EST, the Moon moves from intense Scorpio to optimistic and outgoing Sagittarius. The Moon sextiles both the Sun and Chiron today, suggesting we have creative and social opportunities today. We are more hopeful and pleasantly disposed. We enjoy a feeling that anything is possible if we set our sights high enough. There is optimism, there is faith, and there is a tendency to take chances at the deepest emotional levels. This is a time of exploring our feelings, and some restlessness for new emotional experience.
January 25
The Moon is in happy-go-lucky Sagittarius all day. Although we may feel some divine discontent and restlessness under this influence, we tend to see the glass half full. The Moon’s square to Uranus early morning may bring us an interesting surprise or change of plans. Words convey more emotional meaning and we are gentler and dreamier when the Moon forms a sextile to Neptune in the evening.
January 26
Mercury meets the Sun in Aquarius today, filling us with bright ideas and livening up our conversations. It’s a favorable time for solving problems. What we say or write now has impact, for better or for worse! The Moon enters Capricorn at 5:32 PM EST, ending a void period of the Moon that started at 10:25 AM. In Capricorn, the Moon is responsible, perhaps a little strict, and decidedly practical. It’s time to get down to business and to assess the world around us in realistic terms. We have a deep emotional need to feel valuable.
January 27
A very strong Saturn influence is with us today. The Moon is in Saturn-ruled Capricorn, and both the Sun and Mercury oppose Saturn. Under these influences, we may communicate sparingly or reluctantly. It can be difficult to trust our instincts, and we second-guess things automatically under this influence. We may need to deal with red tape, re-doing tasks we thought we had finished, problems getting from point A to point B, delays in communication, negative thinking, hyper-sensitivity, and criticism. As we face obstacles to our goals, we begin to see the tools with which we have to overcome them. A heavy dose of realism seems forced upon us under this influence, but our efforts to measure up to expectations can ultimately increase our confidence in our ability to be responsible for ourselves.
January 28
The Moon is in sure-footed Capricorn today until 6:10 PM EST, when it enters progressive Aquarius. The Moon’s healthy and productive trine to Mars at 2:57 AM kicks off a void-of-course period of the Moon that lasts until 6:10 PM. During the Moon’s void period, it’s best to stick to routine rather than launching a major new project. It’s an opportune time to reflect and review, especially on topics that have a Capricorn theme (such as our career and responsibilities). The Moon’s entrance into outgoing Aquarius this evening turns our thoughts to all that is new, unusual, and avant garde.
January 29
This morning, the New Moon in Aquarius occurs, signaling a new beginning, especially with regards to socializing, friendships, and our wishes and hopes. It’s opposed by taskmaster Saturn, however, and we may find ourselves keeping our distance in our relationships with others as we do a bit of soul-searching. Mercury and the Sun also semi-square Pluto, suggesting we are inclined to want to control our lives through some form of manipulation. Meeting with obstacles in our paths, however, can force us into the position of using all of our resources to fight back, and we can discover resources we never knew we had in the process.
January 30
During the void period of the Moon in Aquarius (from 11:01 AM to 5:32 PM EST), do your best to stick to routine instead of embarking on something new. Take the time to reflect, enjoy yourself with friends, or to attend to the details of existing projects. The Moon enters dreamy Pisces tonight, and although this is an idealistic energy, the Sun’s tense aspect with Pluto today adds an intense edge to the day. Resist trying to manipulate others to do what you want them to do, as this will backfire right now. Also resist others’ efforts to do same.
January 31
A dreamy day is in store for us today with the Moon in gentle Pisces activating some of the more spiritual planets. Tomorrow, Mercury aligns with Mercury, and it’s “make a wish” day. Today, consider what it is you are missing in your life on a spiritual level. It’s time to boost our spirits, perhaps with a good deed or a new resolution. The Moon aligns with electric Uranus in the morning, offering us flashes of insight and perhaps an interesting twist to our day.
February 1
With Mercury conjunct Neptune and the Moon in Pisces much of the day, it’s a “make a wish” day. Our intuitive creativity is stimulated, and we are able to get insights into our own minds. Conscious reasoning can be distorted by subconscious matter, so concentrating on cold hard facts can be challenging. Daydreaming, visualization, and prophecy are stimulated. Communications may be unclear, vague, or downright confused. We may be subject to deception. Avoid signing contracts under this influence. With Jupiter square Mercury as well, we may be inclined to build castles in the air.
February 2
Still under the influence of Mercury-Neptune square Jupiter, we may easily become bored by technical details and mundane facts and figures. Instead, our imaginations beckon us to set sail for a new horizon. Too much detail work can cause us to daydream. Developing a realistic plan to realize our dreams is the key to handling this influence successfully. With the Moon in go-getting Aries, and sextile the Sun in humanitarian Aquarius, this could be a very productive and creative day. For some of us, however, we may feel a bit of “spring fever” no matter the weather.
February 3
After almost 6 weeks of retrograde motion, Venus turns direct today. With Venus stationary, “all things Venus” are emphasized and/or come to a head. This includes love, romance, and finance, to name a few. There is bound to be a bit of a Venus Retrograde “hangover” that can last as long as until March 6th, but some of the issues we have had to deal with will ease as Venus picks up speed in the coming days. In fact, as Venus re-visits the aspects it made during its retrograde period, we have a chance to re-visit, redo, and repair issues that may have run amok. Mars also exits its shadow zone today. The Moon enters Taurus, the sign of its exaltation, at 8:31 PM EST, emphasizing an urge to achieve peace, harmony, and contentment.
February 4
A strong desire to feel at peace and stable motivates us with the Moon in Taurus all day, as stability and permanence satisfy a deep emotional need. However, we may feel blocked or restricted by others or by circumstances. Sticking with tradition is the likely route we take just now, simply because we are not feeling especially motivated to expand our horizons. We may have the desire to make purchases that, at least temporarily, satisfy a deep yearning to be free from want. We are likely to feel some sense of urgency, however, as we feel the effects of tomorrow’s Mercury-Mars square.
February 5
With the Moon in Taurus, we are inclined to try to keep status quo and to want peace. However, Mercury squares impatient and hot-headed Mars today. Impatience, hastiness, and disagreements characterize this transit. This is an unfavorable time for any kind of meeting, starting a new project, and business proposals. We can be irritable and say all the wrong things. The Sun and the Moon also square off, and we become aware of a conflict between what we want and what we need. This can cause us to be provocative with others, or it can spur us into finding answers to problems–it’s our choice.
February 6
The Sun in humanitarian Aquarius conjuncts spiritual Neptune and squares expansive Jupiter today. We have a tendency to look at the big picture and not bother with the details. We are philosophical, although perhaps too abstract and too distant from the down-to-earth details of daily living. We are extremely sensitive to the moods and undercurrents around us. We make judgments intuitively and instinctually. We may have a hard time defining our actions and our goals, perhaps losing sight of reality and reason. Increased spiritual awareness, imagination, and inspiration characterize this influence.
February 7
As lighthearted and superficial as a Gemini Moon is, we are also under the influence of a sextile between Gemini’s ruler, Mercury, and deep Pluto. As a result, we possess more insight and psychological understanding than usual. We are willing to look beyond the surface of things and investigate further. Perhaps more importantly, we are more patient and strategic in our decision-making. A trine between the Sun and the Moon today suggests that it’s easy to put our best face forward and to cooperate with others because we are not conflicted on the inside. What we do and what we feel are in harmony, and we benefit from this clarity.
February 8
Water signs add fluidity to our day today as Mercury enters Pisces this evening and the Moon enters Cancer just before midday. The way we communicate and think shifts towards the mystical and universal. Knowing things without knowing how we know them is typical of Mercury in dreamy Pisces. Of course, Pisces knows no boundaries, and it can be challenging focusing on (or remembering) the details of everyday existence. The Moon in Cancer brings us back to our roots. Reminiscing, woolgathering, and imagining are favored today.
February 9
The Moon feels right at home in the sign that it rules, Cancer. We are motivated by the need for emotional security and a sense of belonging and nurturing. We want roots; we crave a sense of intimate connection that will last – a castle against the vicissitudes of the world, so to speak. From approximately 9 PM EST, an “opportunity period” occurs. It’s a good time to start a new project, especially before approximately 11 PM, but it can extend to tomorrow afternoon.
February 10
The Moon is in sensitive Cancer until 10:45 PM EST, when it moves to buoyant, playful, and proud Leo. The Moon highlights an inconjunct between Mars and Pluto this afternoon. A strong desire to prove ourselves may be at the root of any confrontations and bull-headedness we experience now. It’s best to avoid forcing issues, as force is fruitless with this aspect, although the tendency is there. During the void of course Moon period (from 3:54 PM to 10:45 PM EST), we might experience a feeling of limbo. It’s best to put off beginning major projects during this phase.
February 11
The Moon is in playful Leo all day today, although for a couple of hours midday, its conjunction to stern, realistic Saturn midday doesn’t feel quite so buoyant. A need to be the center of attention takes hold in our lives now – a craving to give and to be appreciated for our gifts. This can be an expansive, creative, and romantic phase. The Moon is approaching an opposition to the Aquarius Sun, which will come exact tomorrow–the Full Moon. This evening and into the night, it’s time to celebrate, kick back, and have some fun.
February 12
The Full Moon occurs tonight, close to midnight. With the Moon full and bright in the sky, symbolic “illumination” occurs in our own lives. However, these new feelings and revelations are emotional ones, as there is a sense of emotions bursting forth into our consciousness. It’s time to express ourselves, and to let things out of our systems. Of course, we might want to exercise some care while doing so, knowing that what is coming out of us is new and not particularly rational as yet.
February 13
The Moon moves to Virgo just before midday today. It’s time to get back to business. We should satisfy our deep need to feel organized and to tend to practical details. It’s amazing how uncluttered we feel, even on a spiritual level, when we get poky little details out of the way. Three major aspects come exact tomorrow, so it’s a great day to organize our lives. This is especially true for tomorrow’s Mercury conjunction to Uranus, which we feel today to some degree. In order to benefit from this aspect, it’s best to feel on top of our lives so that its negative connotations (nervous energy) don’t dominate. Instead, we can free our minds and listen to our intuition more clearly.
February 14
Mercury conjuncts Uranus today, offering us insights and ideas that seem to come out of the blue, as our thoughts are tuned in to the electric and progressive energy of Uranus. If we can get around the chaotic energy that this aspect can bring, it can be a very productive day when our ability to grasp intellectual concepts is high, our intuition is spot-on, and we tend to have the right idea at the right moment. Our ideas are inventive, original, progressive, and unbiased–it might be a good idea to jot them down. Venus returns to sextile Jupiter once again (after its retrograde cycle), adding a sociable and cooperative tone to the day (great for Valentine’s Day!). As well, the Sun forms a pleasing sextile to Pluto, urging us to look for untapped resources, lost things, and undiscovered talents.
February 15
The Moon is in Virgo until 10:22 PM EST today, and its ruler, Mercury, is conjunct electric Uranus. Both Mercury and Uranus are in Virgo’s opposite sign, Pisces. With this energy, we might have “eurekas”, particularly with regards to issues from the past and how we can mix them up and bring them into the future in a whole new way. Take advantage of the Sun’s creative sextile to Pluto, which is a resourceful energy that also gives us the opportunity to “recycle” energies from our past. It can be a most creative and insightful day.
February 16
Ten minutes into the day (EST), the Moon enters Libra. With Libra’s ruler, Venus, sextile Jupiter, we have all the “tools” necessary to boost our relationships with others. We have a deep need for harmony. Close personal ties to other people are a focal point for our feelings, and cooperation is the key to happiness today. Mars is transiting the last degree of Taurus. Tomorrow, the planet of action enters versatile Gemini, where it is considerably more versatile and flexible–and considerably less determined and focused! Our interests become more diversified, possibly to the point of going off on so many tangents that we are scattered and ineffective.
February 17
A Libra Moon emphasizes the need for partnership in our lives. Libra is a gracious energy, although in its attempt to find balance, it can kick up quite a fuss. Life is about give and take just now. Mars enters versatile Gemini this afternoon. In Taurus, Mars was stimulated when it needed to resist or defend something. In Gemini, we branch out and are easily stimulated by our environment–sometimes to the point of over-stimulation!
February 18
After the Sun and the Moon form a harmonious trine late in Air signs midday, both luminaries change from Air signs to Water signs shortly thereafter. A shift in focus and moods accompany the sign changesfrom lighthearted and intellectual, to deep, introspective, and thoughtful. The Sun is now illuminating the Pisces path, and we begin to be guided by altruistic feelings. We are less active, and more motivated by our instincts. A “what will be, will be” attitude reigns, and we are guided by a sense of universal correlations. Pisces rules empathy, selfless love, devotion, and wisdom. Its shadow side rules self-pity, a feeling of being victimized by life, passivity, and elusiveness. However, the Sun’s square to Mars tomorrow makes its entry into this passive sign feel anything but passive!
February 19
The Sun in gentle Pisces receives a square from combative Mars in Gemini today. In mutable signs, this energy can translate into restlessness, nervousness, and impatience. We have “spring fever” no matter what the season under this influence. Driven by a restless desire to do something, without a well-defined goal we tend towards impulsive actions and get ourselves into needless arguments. Late tonight, Mercury trines Jupiter in water signs, opening up our minds to new and positive insights. When Mercury retrogrades next month, we will have the chance to re-visit this aspect from a different perspective.
February 20
The Moon is in Scorpio until 9:38 PM EST, and emotions are felt intensely. Passion, joy, desire–whatever the emotion is, it is extreme! It’s a great time of the lunar month to do research, investigate, and probe. It can also be a very intimate time. Learning what makes people tick turns us on just now. Scorpio instinctively knows that healing comes from destroying the roots of a disturbance, and the easy aspects the Moon makes in the early hours of the day helps us to do just that. The Moon enters Sagittarius tonight, and the jovial nature of this position should make for a fun and spontaneous night.
February 21
The Last Quarter Moon occurs today, and we can channel its crisis-oriented energy into productiveness, or we can spend the day bickering! It’s our choice. This phase of the Moon opposes Mars, and passions are bound to run high. Mercury forms a tense aspect with Saturn today, so red tape, re-doing tasks we thought we had finished, problems getting from point A to point B, delays in communication, negative thinking, hyper-sensitivity, and criticism may be experienced as well. Still, harnessed correctly, this can be a very productive, action-oriented day.
February 22
The Moon is in enthusiastic Sagittarius all day. A feeling that anything is possible if we set our sights high enough characterizes this placement. We are willing to take chances and explore our feelings. Restlessness for new emotional experiences can propel us into adventures, big or small. Tomorrow’s Mercury-Venus sextile affects us today, making it a good day to discuss feelings, make new contacts, and express ourselves freely. Normally, Sagittarius is willing to let go of the past in order to forge new ground, but the Moon’s alignment with Pluto tonight is likely to turn our thoughts inward and toward the past.
February 23
The Moon enters responsible and realistic Capricorn today, and also sextiles both the Sun and Uranus in Pisces. Getting along with others is easy today, especially with Mercury sextile Venus. We’re unlikely to rock the boat, and very likely to keep things pleasant. We have the chance for increased clarity, derived from a feeling that what we want and what we need are in harmony. We are more able to cooperate with others, largely due to our ability to be diplomatic. It’s a decent day for business deals as well. A practical awareness of the nature of time characterizes the Moon in Capricorn.
February 24
With the Moon in Saturn-ruled Capricorn, and Saturn itself in an awkward aspect to the Sun, focus is on responsibilities today. It is all too easy to question things today. Instead of experiencing and enjoying the moment, we could hold back from experience with a skeptical feeling. Lack of faith in ourselves and in life itself can hinder our movements and initiatives today. A little dose of realism, however, can help us to get ourselves back on track. With the energy of the day on the slow side, it’s a good time to get organized and tend to details.
February 25
At 5:15 AM EST, the Moon moves from traditional Capricorn to futuristic Aquarius. With the Moon in Aquarius, all things new and unusual appeal to us on an instinctive level. Aquarius reminds us to detach ourselves from our personal concerns for the time being, if only to get some perspective on our lives. Late morning, the Moon forms a healthy trine to Mars in a fellow air sign, Gemini, making it a good time to branch out and get active.
February 26
The Moon is in Aquarius today, and we’re nearing the end of the Aquarius New Moon cycle that began at the end of January. It’s not the best time to begin new projects. Instead, it’s a great period for reflection and for tying up loose ends. This morning’s conjunction of the Moon to Neptune is ideal for meditation and reflection. This Aquarius cycle has brought our attention to idealism, ideas, and concepts. We’ve been working on treating others as equals, and at bringing a quality of acceptance and friendship into all of our relationshipspersonal and professional. It’s a good day to reflect on these Aquarian concepts, before the Pisces New Moon cycle begins tomorrow evening.
February 27
The New Moon this evening is in Pisces and conjunct Uranus. It’s the start of a new cycle, and we are bound to feel revived and refreshed. Our needs are aligned with our wants at this time, and it’s an opportune time to make a few resolutions. Take it easy during daylightfinish up odds and ends, take some time to reflect. There’s no use starting a major new project just now. Tonight, it’s make a wish night. Resolve to make your life more interesting, and to be more compassionate, accepting, and understanding with others.
February 28
Under the energy of a Mars-Saturn sextile, our work takes on definite shape, and we can see results from our efforts. This gives us a sense of responsibility and a feeling of directedness and purposefulness. Traditional methods work, and thoroughness brings rewards just now. Mercury squares Pluto as well, and we must watch for suspiciousness, making mountains out of molehills, and “selective” communication. The energy of last night’s New Moon is with us today as well, and, for the most part, we are feeling revitalized.
March 1
Some very fresh energy with us today with the Moon in Aries and the Sun conjunct Uranus. A new cycle of independence, progressiveness, and change begins. Our egos are awakened and we seek new ways to express ourselves. Surprises can happen today, as well as the urge to do something completely new. However, Mercury is slowing down and it will station tomorrow, beginning its approximately three-week retrograde cycle. Bringing new energy into existing projects and relationships gets the thumb’s up, but starting a major new project is not advised for the time being.
March 2
The big news of the day is Mercury’s station as it turns retrograde for approximately three weeks. Mercury’s retrograde cycle signals a time best used for reflection and for gaining perspective on our lives. Important decision-making should probably be saved for after this cycle. With the Moon in Aries, we are emotionally very direct and impulsive. Watch your tongue today! Words don’t mean everything, but they can certainly sting. With Mercury’s station, words can do some damage.
March 3
The Moon is exalted in Taurusa time when feeling at peace and stable on an emotional level dominates. Stability and permanence satisfy a deep emotional need now. Mercury is now retrograde, and it returns to square Pluto tomorrow. Communications may be intense or there can be some stand-offs altogether, especially with stubborn Taurus energy. There’s no need to stew or to collect emotional “slush”, but watching what we say to loved ones is nevertheless encouraged right now, as it is easy to be misunderstood.
March 4
Jupiter is stationary today as it begins its retrograde motion. Jupiter energy is especially strong just nowparticularly midday when the Taurus Moon opposes it. Mercury, which turned retrograde as well two days ago, returns to square Pluto, signaling a time when idle chatter (“weather talk”) simply doesn’t cut the mustard. It’s time to probe and investigate. As long as we avoid a negative bias in our thinking, we can cut through some of the fluff and get to deeper meanings behind thingsespecially with Jupiter, the planet of higher meaning, dominating the day’s energies.
March 5
Both the Moon and Venus leave Earth signs and enter Air signs today, and they form a harmonious trine this morning. The Moon enters versatile and chatty Gemini, and Venus re-enters humanitarian Aquarius (Venus was in Aquarius briefly in December before it retrograded back into Capricorn). While in Capricorn, we valued enduring connections, reliability, and faithfulness. We took expressing our feelings seriously, and we took our time to warm up to others. Essentially, we kept our “cool” in relationships. In Aquarius, we move towards unconventionality, independence, and freedom. Aquarius can be just as faithful as Capricorn, but it has to be on his own terms!
March 6
The Moon in flexible Gemini forms some action-oriented aspects in the morning. Its conjunction to Mars gets us going, but its squares to both the Sun and Uranus suggest we might meet with some resistance if we try to do too much too soon. Venus and the Sun form a semi-square, and because their paths are similar, this aspect stays within orb for about a week. Irritations that seem to stem from others could be the reflection of our own inner uneasiness. Do your best to control yearnings for more and search for a creative solution for your inner dissatisfaction. It’s likely to be a restless day, but the Moon’s trine to Neptune this evening gives us a little down time.
March 7
With the Moon in Gemini and square to retrograde Mercury in the morning, we can easily feel restless and impatient. The semi-square between Venus and the Sun reiterates this type of energy, bringing with it a feeling of discontent. The Moon’s opposition to Pluto just before noon (EST) also presents some challenges. By the evening, the Moon enters Cancer, the sign that it rules. In Cancer, the Moon is self-contained but warm–and certainly much more calm than the influences throughout the day.
March 8
Today and tomorrow are rather flowing days with the Moon in Cancer forming harmonious aspects to the Sun and Uranus in Pisces, as well as Jupiter in Scorpio. The Moon in Cancer is self-contained, strong, and warm, and today it trines Uranus, offering us easy solutions to life’s problems as well as opportunities to add flavor to our lives without shaking things up too much. With Mercury retrograde, it’s probably not the ideal time to start a major new project, but it’s a fabulous time to re-commit to projects that we’ve already started. In fact, it’s perfect for editing and tweaking. Plenty of Water energy is with us now, favoring introspection and getting in touch with our feelings.
March 9
A grand trine involving the Moon, the Sun, and Jupiter suggests the day should be mostly pleasant, although perhaps a little lazy! Positive feelings and optimism dominate, along with some sentimentality. It’s easy to put our best foot forward and to cooperate with others because we are not conflicted on the inside. What we do and what we feel are in harmony, and we benefit from this clarity. A cozy, friendly, and comfortable feeling of security is the energy of the day.
March 10
The Moon enters playful Leo this morning, but Saturn’s influence adds a somber note to the day. With the Leo Moon, our emotions are dramatized. With the Sun in hard aspect to Saturn, and tomorrow’s Venus-Saturn opposition, the melodrama is bound to be internalized. Sun-Saturn makes it difficult to gratify and satisfy the egosomething Moon in Leo craves. We feel blocked by circumstances or by others, although the blockage likely originates within ourselves and in our expectations.
March 11
Some conflicting cosmic influences are with us today. On one hand, a Venus-Saturn opposition makes us cautious about extending our hand to others, for fear that they won’t accept it. The Mars-Uranus square, on the other hand, makes risk-taking extremely tempting. Retrograde Mercury returns to a conjunction with the Sun, and past errors may come to light, or at least to our attention. It’s a day when it would be best to avoid putting ourselves in risky situations. Be extra cautious while driving or operating machinery, and take care with what you say to others, as snappiness can be costly right now.
March 12
The Moon remains in dramatic Leo until 5:24 PM EST, when it enters Mercury-ruled Virgo. With retrograde Mercury returning to a hard aspect with Venus today and with Saturn tomorrow, we revisit projects that we may have thought were complete but that need revision. We might also revisit conversations about love and romance, hopefully with a new understanding, but more likely with a few more questions and doubts. It’s only two days before the Lunar Eclipse in Virgo, when we will experience a “crisis of lack”, and today’s influences suggest some mulling and revising.
March 13
Our thoughts and our communications are deliberate and perhaps hesitant with Mercury and Saturn in hard aspect today. The Moon is at its most discriminating in earth sign Virgo. We are concerned with fixing and fussing over details. It’s a good time to work out schedules and to get organized. It’s best to choose quiet activities today, rather than going out on a limb. Our responsibilities and duties are our top priorities right now.
March 14
A Lunar Eclipse in Virgo occurs this evening (EST), and emotions are charged. As well, Venus aligns with Chiron. Healing energy is brought to love relationships, and a new cycle begins. This is a commitment-friendly transit that reminds us that love can heal old wounds. We are open to romantic feelings, and more willing to act upon them. This is a good time to make a resolution to repair, heal, and improve relationships. Epiphanies can occur now, ideally propelling us into positive action.
March 15
At 6:13 AM EST, the Moon moves from fussy Virgo to equality-minded Libra, and we shift from focusing on the details of our tasks to seeking harmony in our relationships. This is a mostly polite and pleasant time when cooperation is easier and compromise is the way to go. Jupiter and Neptune return to a square aspect overnight, representing an ongoing struggle we have with unrealistic expectations this year. Extravagance and exaggeration are all too easy under this influence.
March 16
An exact Jupiter-Neptune square today, that also occurred in January and will come exact again in September, represents our ongoing struggle with unrealistic expectations. Because we tend to gloss over important and realistic details, we experience some disorganization, extravagance, and exaggeration under this influence. On the other hand, this aspect opens us to our need to expand consciousness through our belief system. The Moon in pleasant Libra is a largely harmonious influence, and its major aspects are friendly as well. It’s a good day for a general feeling of camaraderie, and excellent for strengthening one-to-one partnerships.
March 17
The Sun and Pluto square off today, infusing the day with intensity. The Moon moves from Libra to Pluto-ruled Scorpio this evening, and Venus semi-squares Pluto just a couple of hours into tomorrow. As such, Pluto energies are high as this passionate planet slows down, heading towards retrograde motion near the end of the month. With Pluto, there is a desire to direct our lives and a tendency to try to force matters rather than letting matters unfold naturally. The urge to get to the bottom of matters is with us, but we won’t get far if we are too insistent. Avoid beating a dead horse today. Instead, harness the energy by doing some research or investigation into what truly matters.
March 18
With the Moon in Scorpio, and its ruler, Pluto, semi-square Venus, there can be some underlying tensions in social interactions and relationships. We may be looking for an ulterior motive or an agenda, and we can be destructively suspicious, particularly in the early evening (EST). With retrograde Mercury square Mars as well, we can be impatient and irritable. Things don’t happen fast or soon enough for us, but haste makes waste today.
March 19
The Sun is finishing up in Pisces, the last sign of the zodiac. It’s a good day for reflection on the eve of the astrological New Year. Tomorrow’s entrance of the Sun into Aries is fresh and exciting. For now, the Moon in profound Scorpio helps us to look within for answers. Scorpio knows the value of endings as a natural process of life. The Moon’s alignment with Jupiter in the early hours of the day helps us to find wisdom and perhaps inspiration in reflection. The Sun-Moon trine overnight in these watery signs is a harmonious and warm energy.
March 20
The Sun enters Aries midday today, and the Moon enters Sagittarius early morning. This fiery energy is sure to stir up some activity. In Aries, the Sun is enthusiastic and spontaneous. We are motivated by the desire to conquer. We are more impulsive, and have the urge to initiate. Aries is a sign that bounces back quickly–there is little shame with Aries. It is brave and pioneering, and somewhat innocent. We are direct and rather uncomplicated in our needs, but we can also be short-sighted and lack the desire to plan ahead. Add the energy of the Sagittarius Moon, and we feel like anything is possible!
March 21
With the Sun and the Moon in fire signs, we have a lot of energy at our disposal. We are motivated by a need to seek the truth, and we are ready to pursue a new vision. We are not interested in details just now; instead, we focus on the big picture. New experiences and adventures satisfy a deep emotional need. Spontaneity is the key. We may also be inclined toward overdoing and overstating, and should probably watch for tactlessness. We don’t want to plan ahead, and prefer to wing it.
March 22
When the Sun squares the Moon, as it does today, there is generally a lot of activity and sometimes stress. It’s an action-oriented day. We become aware of a conflict between what we want and what we need, which can cause us to be provocative with others. On the other hand, it can spur us into finding answers to problems. The Moon enters Capricorn today, and our practical goals and ambitions become paramount.
March 23
The earthy Capricorn Moon forms some pleasing aspects to planets in water signs today–Mercury and Uranus in Pisces, and Jupiter in Scorpio–fertile combinations! Despite this, the Sun-Jupiter sesquiquadrate is a restless energy. We want more, but perhaps too much. As long as we don’t overestimate what we can do, and instead feel the groundedness of the Capricorn Moon, this promises to be a day during which we can make some headway with our projects and perhaps come up with some unique ideas to boot.
March 24
Until 2:22 PM EST, the Moon is void in Capricorn, after which it enters humanitarian Aquarius. With Mars-Jupiter and Sun-Neptune influences today, it would be wise to think twice before making important decisions. We tend to take on too mucheither expend too much energy or overestimate our capabilitiesunder these influences. It can be all too easy to stray from our goals and temporarily lose focus. It’s best to simply take it easy today, particularly with Mercury nearing its station. In Aquarius, the Moon is idealistic and friendly. The unusual appeals, and we can be emotionally detached.
March 25
Plenty of cosmic activity is with us today, and it’s a real mixed bag! Mercury stations as it turns direct this morning. This is good news, but during its station, it’s best to hold off on important decision-making. The Sun trines steady Saturn, pulling up our more responsible and liable sides, but Venus squares Jupiter and our appetite for pleasure is big. Mars trine Neptune is a mystical influence, as our desires soften and we are more in touch with our intuition. Tomorrow, Venus aligns with Neptune and trines Mars–a highly romantic and creative influence. Inspiration can be found now.
March 26
Venus aligns with dreamy Neptune today, signaling fresh beginnings on creative levels. Heightened sensitivity to, and awareness of, beauty and spirituality characterize this transit. We are easily influenced, seducible and seductive, and given to strong powers of imagination. We are more attuned to the world of beauty and romance today. Gentleness with others is the best way to harness this energy. It can certainly be a magical time on a romantic and social level, but it could also be a confusing or illusory influence as well. Venus’ trine to Mars makes it easy to take creative action and to act upon our social and romantic needs successfully. Our creative impulses are potent right now.
March 27
The Moon in compassionate Pisces is all the more intuitive as it aligns with Mercury and Uranus midday, and all the more humane as it trines Jupiter this evening. Warm, creative energy is with us today. The capacity for inventive thinking and an open, experimental attitude is strong. We are emotionally generous and altruistic just now. It’s a good day for meditation and inner development. Pay attention to your dreams–they are bound to be rich in meaning and even inspirational.
March 28
We are preparing for a new cycle, as we finish up the Pisces New Moon cycle and prepare for the Aries New Moon cycle that starts tomorrow afternoon. Tomorrow’s New Moon is an especially potent one–a total Solar Eclipse in the sign of new beginnings. Today is best used for reflection and rest. Our dreaming minds have been especially active. The Moon moves from Pisces to Aries this afternoon, and we prepare for new beginnings. Making peace with the past is what Pisces is all about, as Aries has no concern for what happened before today.
March 29
A Total Solar Eclipse (New Moon) occurs this morning in Aries. This eclipse is about new beginnings, bravery, courage, and independence. New Moons represent new beginnings, and so does the sign of Aries. This is an extremely creative eclipse. In Aries, the “new beginnings” theme of an eclipse (and New Moon in general) is especially powerful. With this potent Aries energy, we’re offered a clean slate. Aries represents authenticity, and this first sign of the zodiac reminds us of the importance of acting on our impulses and of believing in ourselves. Pluto is stationary retrograde today as well, emphasizing the need to let go of false images of ourselves and to turn over a new leaf.
March 30
We’re bound to feel fresh and revived this morning, although some of us will be especially inclined towards feeling “spring fever”. A temporary lull is likely to be felt during the Moon’s void period from 10:42 AM to 4:02 PM EST, which is just fine after the excitement of the New Moon yesterday. We’re switching gears this afternoon when the Moon moves from energetic Aries to contented Taurus. The Moon is quite happy in the peaceful sign of Taurus. It also signals a time when the excitement of starting something new gives way to a desire to give it form and shape.
March 31
With the Moon in contented Taurus all day, we are motivated by the desire for serenity, security, peace, and comfort. The Moon is at her most sensual and constant in Taurus. Our basic impulses are to relax, resist change, and “stop to smell the roses”. Life slows down a little, and we get comfortable. We may also be inclined toward stubbornness and materialism under this influence. With the Moon in happy aspects to Mercury and Uranus in Pisces, we may also want to give form to some of our ideas and dreams.
April 1
The Moon in Taurus’s void period from 10:53 AM to 6:50 PM EST is best used for finishing up details, relaxation, and enjoying the comforts of life. The Moon enters Gemini at 6:50 PM, and we shift our disposition to a more light-hearted and breezy one. Our basic instinct now is to communicate, think, and learn under the influence of Moon in Gemini. We are motivated by a desire for variety and by an instinctive curiosity. We can multi-task now–in fact, we can be restless if we don’t take on more than one project.
April 2
The Moon is in lighthearted Gemini, but Venus receives a sextile from deep, anything-but-superficial Pluto, adding a serious but productive tone to the day. If we seize the opportunity, this is a good time for both finances and relationships–two areas of life that Venus rules. The feelings are impassioned, but not in an offensive or unpleasant way. We are focused and confident, and this spills over into our connections with others in positive ways. Venus is also parallel to Chiron–a good time for financial undertakings, love, and overall good humor. If you’ve been waiting for the right time to make a purchase, here it is.
April 3
Our basic instinct is to communicate, think, and learn under the influence of Moon in Gemini. We are motivated by a desire for variety and by an instinctive curiosity. The Moon in Gemini is light-hearted, breezy, and curious, but it can also be restless and fickle. It’s a good day for learning of any kind, as well as for making connections with others. However, the Moon’s alignment with fiery Mars this afternoon can be a rather restless influence. Do your best to avoid draining yourself on a mental level today. Spreading yourself too thin is only going to add to stress levels. Haste makes waste!
April 4
The Moon is at home in Cancer, and we instinctively seek out a sense of belonging. Mercury forms a healthy trine to Jupiter today, and it’s a great time to solve problems. Positive thinking works for us, and we stand to gain valuable insights today. This is a cooperative influence. Take time for mental recreation today–whether it’s simply shooting the breeze and exchanging personal philosophies or enjoying intellectual pastimes.
April 5
After about 4-1/2 months of retrograde motion, taskmaster Saturn turns direct today. As well, Venus enters Pisces this evening. With Venus in Pisces, our love is all-embracing, we are able to forgive and understand, we are seducible and seductive, and we show compassion to our partners. Venus in Pisces is tender and affectionate, although hard to reach nevertheless, as there is a longing for something that is hard to define and hard to satisfy. Borders and boundaries blur under Venus in Pisces. The Moon is in Pisces’ fellow water sign, Cancer, clashing with the fiery Sun in Aries.
April 6
The Moon leaves nurturing Cancer midday and enters playful Leo. While a Leo Moon is generally a creative and expressive influence, Mercury in Pisces forms a tense aspect with realistic Saturn. We may get bogged down in facts and figures, and we could be required to re-visit and redo tasks we thought were finished. Some of us experience buggy little problems simply getting from point A to point B under this influence. We are also prone to taking criticism too personally. As creative as we’d like to be, lateral thinking is a bit of a challenge with this Mercury-Saturn influence.
April 7
The Moon is in sunny Leo all day. We thrive on attention and have a strong urge to express our creativity. We feel the need to be appreciated, even applauded, under this playful influence. Leo’s natural generosity and appreciation for the good things in life could become excessive, however, with the Sun in an awkward aspect to Jupiter. This may be especially so tonight, when the Leo Moon squares sensual Jupiter in Scorpio. It’s best to have a little fun with the energy, but to try not to go overboard.
April 8
If we’re holding onto anger, it may surface in surprising ways today. With Mars exactly opposite Pluto, the desire to get the upper hand is strong, but it’s unlikely to happen. This is an “all or nothing” energy, and we must be aware that the desire to force one’s agenda is bound to be met with opposition and resistance. Do what you can to avoid a contest of wills today. It would be wise to observe whatever powerful feelings that confrontations or conflicts arouse under this influence, as this transit has a way of pulling out suppressed matter, or emotional “slush”. Passions run high, and so does sexual energy. This evening, the Leo Moon forms harmonious aspects to both Mars and Pluto, hopefully helping us to use this intense energy constructively.
April 9
The Moon enters earthy Virgo less than an hour into the day. When the Moon is in Virgo, we instinctively want to accomplish something and to feel useful. The Sun forms an exact sextile to Neptune today, which tunes us in to our intuition and to the higher vibrations of the universe. We are inspired, and charitable acts now will serve to lift our spirits like no drug can. Instinctual judgment is enhanced under this influence. With the Virgo Moon energy also in play, we can more easily combine practicality and creativity.
April 10
We’re likely to feel a little awkward and insecure today with the Moon in nervous Virgo and Venus quincunx Saturn. It’s all too easy to see what doesn’t work rather than what does. It’s an awkward day socially and financially as well. Anxiety may overcome us when we wish to express our affections or social urges, and this hesitation can express itself through inhibitions and emotional distancing. If we can avoid the paralysis that often accompanies perfectionism, we might want to tackle little jobs one at a time.
April 11
The Virgo Moon aspects a tense Mars-Pluto opposition this morning before it becomes void-of-course. Hold off on launching a brand new project until after the Moon enters Libra at 1:47 PM EDT. This mutable energy is far too intense for the success of a new enterprise, but we can attempt to harness it by working hard on existing projects. By the evening, the Moon’s sextile to Saturn feels stable and goal-oriented. The Moon in Libra acts to smooth over tension, as bringing harmony to our lives now fills an instinctive need.
April 12
The desire for peace and harmony reigns with the Moon in Libra and no exact major aspects today. This may be the calm before the storm! A Full Moon occurs tomorrow, when relationship needs come to light in a dramatic and emotional manner. We should avoid impulsive decision-making with Mars in the last degree of the sign of Gemini. The urge to leap before we look could be strong until Mars enters Cancer tomorrow at 9 PM EDT.
April 13
A Full Moon comes exact today at 12:40 PM EDT, when the fiery “me first” Sun in Aries opposes the “you first” Libra Moon. Full Moons are about exposing or illuminating issues that are already there, but that have not yet been dealt with. In Aries and Libra, relationship issues will come to the fore. It’s an emotional time, and, with Mercury square Pluto today, we need to watch how we communicate our feelings. A tendency to come across as negative and suspicious could be present. Mars enters Cancer today after a two-month stay in changeable Gemini. We channel more focused energy into our home and family lives. We become more defensive and protective under this influence.
April 14
The Moon enters Scorpio early in the day, adding even more intensity to yesterday’s exact Mercury-Pluto square. What’s on the surface of things doesn’t satisfy us today. We are inclined to dig, research, and probe. Our communications are intense, if we offer any information at all! Intensity is what the Moon in Scorpio is all about. Whether it’s passion, elation, sorrow, or desire, emotions are felt on a deeply personal level. We are motivated by the desire to get to the bottom of things, and we instinctively read between the lines. Feeling out of sorts in the morning is possible with the Scorpio Moon square Saturn. However, by the evening, when the Moon and Venus form a water sign trine, happier and perhaps romantic feelings prevail.
April 15
The Moon is in Scorpio all day. Under this influence, superficiality won’t work for us. The Moon in Scorpio urges us to uncover our own power, and it’s an excellent time to rid ourselves of old fears and limiting habits. It can be an intimate and passionate time, particularly in the morning when the Moon conjoins expansive Jupiter. Avoid manipulative tactics, brooding, and suspiciousness, especially this afternoon when the Moon squares Neptune. Excesses are possible, especially with a tense aspect between Mars and Jupiter. As well, we should be aware that Mercury is journeying through the last degree of Pisces, and the tendency to make impulsive decisions (against our better judgment!) is especially strong.
April 16
We are likely to tackle our day with unbridled enthusiasm with Mars in hard aspect to Jupiter, and the Moon entering Sagittarius at 10:20 AM EDT. Mercury enters Aries this morning, and a fresh new Mercury cycles begins. Our minds begin to orient themselves to new beginnings, fresh starts, and pioneering ideas. Still another influence is the Aries Sun trine Pluto in Sagittarius. We are more decisive than usual, and our abilities to concentrate and focus help us achieve what we set out to do.
April 17
The Moon is at her most optimistic and upbeat in Sagittarius. We are motivated by a need to seek the truth, and we are ready to pursue a new vision. We are not interested in details just now. Instead, we focus on the big picture. New experiences and adventures satisfy a deep emotional need. Spontaneity is the key. We may also be inclined toward overdoing and overstating. We don’t want to plan ahead, and prefer to “wing it”, especially with Mercury in hard aspect to Jupiter, the ruler of Sagittarius, also in effect today.
April 18
Venus aligns with Uranus this morning, and the Sun forms a semi-square to both planets. Around the same time, Mercury squares Mars. This is a high-energy, potentially productive period if we can avoid being too impulsive and confrontational. There can be great excitement in love nowa feeling of re-birth, in fact. We could have the gumption to take a chance and speculate on a love that is intense and unpredictable, and we are more decisive than usual. We have a greater need for self-expression, personal freedom, and social excitement. Mental unrest or agitation is also possible. The day is likely to be eventful for many of us, and simply restless for others.
April 19
With the excitement of yesterday’s configurations, today’s stable Mercury-Saturn trine and a Saturn-ruled Capricorn Moon might be a welcome relief or a letdown, depending on how you’re feeling! Steady, sober energy is with us now. We’re looking at the world more realistically, and instinctively understanding the limitations of time and energy. We have an eye on the bottom line. Tangible results, manifestation, achievement…these are important to us. Frivolity doesn’t satisfy us now. Will it work; will it last; will it produce?
April 20
The Sun enters Taurus today, and we instinctively slow down a little, stopping to “smell the roses”. We begin to appreciate what is solid, sensual, permanent, and tangible. Taurus’ ruling planet, Venus, trines Jupiter today as well. For some, this is a time of decadence and indulgence. It’s actually a good time to magnetize things (and people!) we want in our lives. Our powers of attraction are strong, and a hopeful, trusting, and positive attitude is what takes us places.
April 21
The Sun in early Taurus squared the Moon in Aquarius just before the day began, and we become aware of a conflict between what we want and what we need. This can cause us to be provocative with others, or it can spur us on to find answers to problems. The Aquarian Moon is pushing us into the future, while the Taurus Sun encourages us to enjoy the sensuality of the present. Personal freedom is an instinctive need when the Moon is in Aquarius, and our reactions are more intellectual than emotional. Mars in hard aspect to Neptune compounds the problem of not knowing what we want. Energy and time are too easily wasted under this influence.
April 22
The Moon highlights a Mars-Neptune hard aspect this morning, and a vague feeling of being directionless may be with us. It’s hard to know what we want and where we’re headed under this influence. We need to watch for passive-aggressive behavior, in ourselves and in others. The Moon is in Aquarius all day. Our interactions are more impersonal than personal, and we are open to new methods of doing things as we have our eye on the future. It can be hard to stick to schedules now, as personal freedom is most important to us.
April 23
The Moon enters Pisces very early in the day and sextiles the Taurus Sun in the morning. This is an easygoing energy. We can benefit from increased clarity derived from a feeling that what we want and what we need are in harmony. We are more able to cooperate with others. The Moon is also in harmony with Mars in fellow water sign, Cancer, tonight. We are eager, warm, and confident under this brief influence. The Moon’s alignment with electric Uranus is anything but wishy-washy. Moods can change in an instant, and we instinctively desire change.
April 24
Snags in our plans that might occur today are likely due to Saturn’s sobering effect on the Sun and Venus. Saturn has a way of “pointing out” flaws. Associated with the Sun, we might encounter delays or disappointments with our plans. With Venus, we can feel somewhat inhibited when it comes to expressing ourselves socially. We are more sensitive to problems now. As we face obstacles to our goals, we begin to see the tools with which we have to overcome them. A dose of realism seems forced upon us under this influence, but our efforts to measure up to expectations can ultimately increase our confidence in our ability to be responsible for ourselves and for others.
April 25
The Aries New Moon cycle is nearing completion. Today, the Moon enters Aries, and we’re motivated by a strong desire to start fresh. A gut instinct to start something new is with us now, as well as the gumption to do so. However, it’s best not to begin a new project until after the New Moon in Taurus on Thursday afternoon. Our pioneering impulses are strong, and we feel energetic, spontaneous, and enthusiastic. We may also be tactless and impulsive now. Excess energy is best channeled into physical activity.
April 26
A Mercury-Jupiter quincunx today suggests that we may have big ideas, but we may also overestimate our abilities or underestimate the situation. Avoid jumping into something without planning ahead, as important details are too easy to overlook. Also, avoid making promises you may not be able to fulfill, and read the fine print! The Balsamic Moon phase today makes it less than ideal to push forward with new projects. Tomorrow’s New Moon will be a re-energizing influence.
April 27
The Moon enters Taurus in the morning and then meets with the Sun at 3:45 PM EDT. This New Moon launches a re-energizing cycle that offers us potent Taurus energy. It’s time to enjoy life’s simple and physical pleasures–savor good food, and enjoy activities that bring us in touch with nature and with our bodies. It’s time to stop and smell the roses, and to become more aware of what makes us feel comfortable and secure. This is a good cycle under which to re-evaluate our relationship with money and possessions, and to discover what truly makes us happy and fulfilled. With this potent Taurus energy, we have the chance to make important changes in our lives.
April 28
A mostly pleasant day is ahead with the Moon in Taurus forming a sextile to Taurus’ ruler, Venus, as its last major aspect before changing signs tomorrow morning. The Taurus Sun is moving towards a sextile to Mars in sentimental Cancer. Under this influence, we are more able to creatively solve problems and to instinctively take action when necessary, without rubbing people the wrong way.
April 29
Today is a lively, “in synch” day with the Moon in bubbly Gemini, the Sun sextile Mars, and Mercury sextile Neptune. Intuition runs high, as we tune into our feelings and those around us, and we pay attention to our instincts. Imagination is stirred, and we are able to act on our impulses in sound and effective ways. We’re moving forward and feeling re-energized. It’s easy to cooperate with others without ignoring our own needs.
April 30
The Moon is in versatile Gemini all day, and our basic instinct is to communicate, think, and learn. We are motivated by a desire for variety and by an instinctive curiosity. Although the Moon in Gemini is generally light-hearted, breezy, and curious, we are also under the influence of Venus square Pluto. Curiosity turns to a “need to know”. Our passions are intense, but there’s a hidden agenda. Feelings of jealousy and possessiveness run high, in direct proportion to our fear of losing partnership. Avoid starting a new relationship at this time, because it can be characterized by these energies.
May 1
The Moon enters the sign that it rules, Cancer, at 11:18 AM EDT. Emotional security, a sense of belonging and nurturing–these issues are felt instinctively now. With the Sun in hard aspect to Pluto, we are inclined to want to control our lives through some form of manipulation. Of course, if we were to “succeed” at doing so, we could never feel satisfied. Meeting with obstacles in our paths, however, can force us into the position of using all of our resources to fight back, and we can discover resources we never knew we had in the process.
May 2
The Moon is in Cancer all day. The urge for roots and comfort is strong, particularly with a hard Venus-Jupiter aspect also active today. We might take great strides to get noticed under this influence. Avoid impulsive buying, as our “sweet tooth” is not only for comfort food, but also for comfortable material goods. Problems in our personal life likely won’t get resolved under this influence. Avoid hasty (or haughty!) decisions. We might overstate our feelings or promise more than we can deliver, and the tendency to overdo is strong.
May 3
Venus enters Aries this morning, and a new Venus cycle begins. In Aries, Venus is bold, fresh, and vital. We don’t look back under this influence. We are willing to take a few risks–with our hearts and our pocketbooks! As well, Mercury trines Pluto, and our mental faculties are attuned to otherworldly impressions, offering us increased insight, psychological understanding and awareness, and focused attention. The Moon enters Aries’ fellow Fire sign, Leo, at 8:18 PM EDT. It’s a playful, creative, and happy energy, particularly around the time when the Moon and Venus form a trine at 9:43 PM.
May 4
The Moon is in creative, playful Leo all day, and we are under the influence of a number of planetary aspects. The Sun opposes Jupiter and sextiles Uranus (with Jupiter trine Uranus)–an extremely creative configuration. Our moods are elevated, although perhaps unstable and not particularly based on reality! Still, we are flexible and willing to embrace the new. We’re open to new energies, approaches, and attitudes. Fortunate events occur as a direct result of our willingness to entertain the unusual and to think outside of the box. Mars is moving towards a trine to both Jupiter and Uranus, forming a grand trine in Water signs. This is a configuration with much creative power. Our decisions may be bold, confident, and quick.
May 5
With the First Quarter Moon occurring, this is likely to be an action-oriented day. Mercury enters Taurus early this morning, and our thinking patterns become more down to earth, solid, and grounded. Common sense reigns over more fanciful thinking under this influence. We communicate more deliberately, and our minds are oriented to the world of the five senses. We prefer the tried and true rather than new ways of thinking. Attention to one thing at a time can simplify our lives, but we may be in danger of narrow, overly conservative, or rigid thinking.
May 6
The Moon enters Virgo at 8:20 AM EDT. Getting our daily lives organized is the theme now, and it’s a good time to re-commit to goals regarding health, nutrition, work, and fitness goals. Early afternoon is ideal for bringing more order into our lives, when the Moon in Virgo forms a creative trine with Virgo’s ruler, Mercury. Mars will join the Jupiter-Uranus trine to form a grand trine in Water signs tomorrow. This creative configuration represents an opportunity for emotional renewal. Our levels of confidence are high. We are willing to take a few risks and to think outside the box.
May 7
A grand trine in Water signs occurs today as Mars closes in on aspects to both Jupiter and Uranus, effectively bringing the desire to make things happen and effect positive changes. Potent creative and emotional energy is with us today. It’s a strong period for initiating new projects, resolving problems, and putting our problem-solving skills into action. Our intuition is excellent, and we have the opportunity to break free from limiting circumstances. The Moon trines the Sun today, and it’s easy to put our best foot forward and to cooperate with others because we are not conflicted on the inside. What we do and what we feel are in harmony, and we benefit from this clarity.
May 8
Saturn forms a trine to Venus and a square to Mercury–rather conflicting influences. With a Venus-Saturn trine, affections stabilize and mature. Small advances can be made in business and in partnerships. Support from older people or authority figures may come by way of solid advice or more tangible help. Renewed ties to old friends are possible, or a new sense of responsibility in existing friendships. However, the Mercury-Saturn square can upset a few apple carts. Communications may be blocked or delayed, and negative thinking could dominate at this time. Projects we thought were complete may need revision, and people could appear overly critical, insensitive, or sarcastic.
May 9
The Moon is at her most gracious in the sign of Libra. We find it easier and quite natural to compromise and harmonize now, and we strive to find a happy median. Particularly when the Libran Moon forms challenging aspects, such as midday when she opposes Venus in Aries, we can easily feel unsettled as we are sensitive to unpleasantness, as well as imbalances in our relationships and our environment. Overall, however, we are more friendly and willing to please under the influence of a Libran Moon.
May 10
Concentrating on artistic or spiritual pursuits is better than focusing on things that require straightforward, factual thinking today. It can be difficult knowing where or how to direct our willpower under a Sun-Neptune square. It’s also a challenge knowing where we stand with others. Avoid such things as scheduling surgery, important appointments, job interviews, or launches of new projects at this time. Instead, focus on creative, artistic, and spiritual endeavors. In fact, a Libran Moon helps facilitate artistic projects.
May 11
The Moon leaves fair-minded Libra and enters “life isn’t fair” Scorpio this morning. With Mercury in an action-oriented aspect to Scorpio’s ruler, Pluto, this is a mentally active day. We should watch for a tendency to be suspicious under this influence, but if we harness the day’s energies well, we can effectively develop strategies to get to the bottom of any matter. Mercury also opposes Jupiter, and exaggeration is possible. We strive to find both meaning and purpose. Whether it’s passion, elation, sorrow, or desire, emotions are felt on a deeply personal level with the Moon in Scorpio. We are motivated by the desire to get to the bottom of things, and we instinctively read between the lines.
May 12
The Moon in magnetic Scorpio aligns with Jupiter this morning, and then trines both Uranus and Mars, highlighting the Grand Trine. Although the Grand Trine between Mars, Jupiter, and Uranus is separating, we are able to feel its energy once again. Emotional vitality and renewal, and the ability to take a few risks with our emotions, are themes. With these harmonious aspects, it’s easier to feel the positive energy of the Scorpio Moon, which urges us to uncover our own power. It’s an excellent time to rid ourselves of old fears and limiting habits. It can be an intimate and passionate time as well. Mercury’s sextile to Uranus boosts our ability to come up with creative ideas–and to communicate them.
May 13
The Full Moon in Scorpio occurs early today at 2:51 AM EDT. With the Moon full and bright in the sky, symbolic “illumination” occurs in our own lives. However, these new expressions of feelings and these revelations are emotional ones, as there is a sense of emotions bursting forth into our consciousness. It’s time to express ourselves, and to let things out of our systems. Of course, we might want to exercise some care while doing so, knowing that what is coming out of us is not particularly rational as yet. This Full Moon illuminates the conflict between form (Taurus Sun) and transformation (Scorpio Moon). The Sun in Taurus wants us to be happy with the simple, tangible things in life, while the Scorpio Moon draws our attention to complexities, intangibles, and mysteries. Neglecting either end of the axis will surely backfire on us. Ideally, a balance should be found between the two energies, and this is what the Full Moon invites us to do. The Moon moves to jovial Sagittarius at 4:57 PM EDT.
