Mercury Retrograde Periods in 2012
Although not quite as popular as Sun sign astrology, “Mercury Retrograde” has certainly become a buzzword–or buzz phrase–these days.
What is Mercury Retrograde? Three, and sometimes four, times a year, the planet Mercury appears to be moving backwards in the sky for a period of approximately 3 weeks. “Appears” is the key word here, because, technically speaking, no planet actually moves backwards in their orbits around the Sun. In fact, they don’t even slow down. Retrograde-station-direct cycles are essentially illusions that result from our point of view from Earth, simply because the Earth is also orbiting the Sun at a different speed than the other planets. Mercury turns retrograde more frequently than any other planet. It can never be more than 28 degrees from the Sun, and whenever it reaches its furthest distance from the Sun, it changes direction.
As the planet of communication, Mercury retrograde tends to breed a certain level of confusion. Mercury rules our “lower” mindhow we perceive and interpret information that we receive from our environment, and how we relay that information to others. Mercury has rulership over such things as speaking, negotiating, buying and selling, listening, formal contracts, documents, travel, the mail and shipping, and so forth. All of these areas of life are affected when Mercury is functioning in a sluggish state. Decision-making is challenged during Mercury retrograde. Needless to say, it is not advised to sign contracts, engage in important decision-making, or launch a new business. Delays and challenges are more probable with Mercury retrograde. This period is best used for re-organizing and reflecting.
During these periods, it’s best to check and double-check your work, emails, and paperwork. Watch what you say, because it may not come out, or be received, the way you intended. Try to be understanding if you receive remarks that don’t go over well. Double-check that the person who uttered those words really meant it the way you thought they did! Asking “are you sure you meant to say that?” might help. Get in touch with yourself during this period–it’s an excellent cycle for discovering new ways of looking at life and at yourself. It’s also an ideal cycle in which to discover new ways of communicating your ideas and thoughts.
Mercury is Retrograde in Aries and Pisces from March 12 to April 4, 2012.

Venus Retrograde in 2012
What is Venus Retrograde? Occasionally, Venus appears to be moving backwards in the sky. Venus is Retrograde approximately 40-43 days every 18 months.
As the planet of love and values, Venus retrograde periods are times when we re-assess what–and who–we value. It is a period that most astrologers consider inopportune for getting married or starting a new relationship. Financial undertakings are not advised during this period as well. There may be delays or confusion in relationships and financial affairs. Read more about Venus Retrograde cycles.

Mars Retrograde in 2012
What is Mars Retrograde? Occasionally, Mars appears to be moving backwards in the sky. Mars is Retrograde approximately 58-81 days every 2+ years.
When Mars is in its retrograde cycle, we are forced to re-assess our current projects, our approach to getting what we want, and our desire nature. Rather than directly asserting our desires, we tend towards introspection. While Mars in direct motion is direct, straightforward, assertive, and aggressive, with Mars in retrograde motion, Mars energy is essentially turned inward–it’s internalized, intensified, personalized, and perhaps pressurized. We can be hesitant about taking action, second-guessing our instincts or our natural impulses rather than acting upon them. The way we react to situations under normal conditions doesn’t necessarily work for us now, or we don’t exactly trust it… Read more about Mars Retrograde cycles

03 Feb Neptune enters Pisces 02:05 pm EST Tran-Tran 00 Pisces 00′
Spiritual revival will be just one hallmark of the next fourteen years, as will a general tendency for those who pretend to it not give to those who actually do. Flights of romanticism are daily fare, even to those whose life is not romantic in the least. When there is nothing else, there is always a dream, a pure dream, waiting just beyond.

Saturn Stationary Retrograde
13 Mar Jupiter trine Pluto 00:22 am EDT Tran-Tran 09 Taurus 21′
New frontiers, hot prospects, expanded operations are not hard to sell right now — in fact, the soft sell will be the most successful. Whether you are promoting your affections or your consumer product, act as if it’s the only way to go in the world and is pretty much of an accomplished fact already. The more faith you have in yourself, the more others will have in you, and the more likely things will work out right for you, since everyone is expecting them to.

11 Jun Jupiter enters Gemini 01:21 pm EDT Tran-Tran 00 Gemini 00′
A year of multiple plans and schemes is ahead, where everyone talks a lot about what they’re about to do, but not all of it will be decided or acted upon. There’s more discussion than action, and lots of avenues are explored before narrowing down the options. Multitasking is a must, because there will always be more than one iron in the fire.
24 Jun Uranus square Pluto 03:41 am EDT Tran-Tran 08 Aries 24′
This several-year period (most recently centering around 1933) occurs only once every 128 years and is reputed to have the effect of transforming and sometimes violent technological progress upon society at large. Too lengthy to have much more than a background effect, it nevertheless sets the tone of the period.

25 Jun Jupiter square Neptune 03:56 am EDT Tran-Tran 03 Gemini 02′
This is a broad time for taking that second look at what life seemed to offer, or that it claimed to promise. That doesn’t mean your life, specifically, but you’ll probably find that’s the current question in the air and there is good conversation in it at the least. The answers in general will be for the moment that optimism fails — hopes lead to disappointment, and a lot of other confusions that result from both unclear desires and fuzzy thinking. If you can be on the outside looking into this one, you’ll be the happier for it. Unexamined expectations go before the fall, and where you can be a cushion to others and a shoulder to lean on, you’ll be the one to benefit from it later.

20 Jul Jupiter sesquiquadrate Saturn 10:07 pm EDT Tran-Tran 08 Gemini18′
22 Jul Jupiter sextile Uranus 00:04 am EDT Tran-Tran 08 Gemini 31′
It’s a good time to invest in mutual discovery, where what you stumble on somehow perfectly dovetails with what just fell into your partner’s lap. You don’t need to push or pursue the far-out to go really way into yourselves, and you’ll probably even have a little help from your friends, because right about now they’re probably doing it, too. This can apply to the boardroom or the bedroom equally, as subtle inspiration and small “aha!” revelations snowball to give everyone a totally new view on an old subject and reinvigorate flagging energies and interests. The key to success: Be aboveboard, don’t go overboard. Share what’s given, expect the same.

05 Oct Saturn enters Scorpio 04:30 pm EDT Tran-Tran 00 Scorpio 00′
Those who have been keeping the wrong sort of secrets will pay for it over the next couple of years, but not necessarily in public. Secret or private endings abound and behind-the-scenes justice may give the appearance of business as usual, belying the true change in course. Open and aboveboard is the safest place to be.
10 Oct Saturn trine Neptune 10:35 pm EDT Tran-Tran 00 Scorpio 37′
For about a year, the world in general seems to be in the process of merging spiritual aspirations with material possibilities. It is as if Church and State finally realized they both agree at heart. It is a period you will likely look back on with fondness and a sigh, realizing that hope does indeed spring eternal and eventually may triumph. But the meek aren’t about to inherit the earth, not yet anyway, so perhaps the best way to capitalize on this general trend is to associate yourself with hope, both yours and others’, and where possible let it float your boat for the duration. Inner and outer stability flourishing together can only last a time, like Camelot.

26 Dec Saturn sextile Pluto 07:13 pm EST Tran-Tran 09 Capricorn 09′
This roughly yearlong period describes a background in which previous social conflict has been resolved and the establishment and powers that be seem to be pretty much doing their jobs. While not necessarily of personal impact, this rolling along of the status quo is something you may be able to use or at least be aware of to your advantage. It means you’ll get more mileage out of being a cooperator and someone who does not rock the boat. There is more headway to be made running with the tide than against it, although you may not agree with everything you have to put up with in the process. The time for major departures from the norm is not now, but will come soon enough.
