The New Moon occurs in the sign of Aries on April 5th. We are challenged to show a pure part of ourselves to the world. By acting upon our own inner impulses (constructive ones!) without fear, and by abandoning the need to refine these impulses based on what others might want us to do or what others think we “should” do, we learn more about ourselves. If we learn to depend on ourselves, we exude an all-new aura of strength that comes from personal integrity and confidence, and pure and innocent charm. The New Moon in Aries is an inspired one, but its square to Saturn suggests we need some patience with new beginnings.
While Mercury is direct after a retrograde cycle from March 5-28, April introduces a wave of new retrogrades: Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto begin their yearly retrogrades this month. Jupiter turns retrograde on the 10th, and slowing down projects or plans may be appropriate in order to gain perspective. Initially, our enthusiasm and confidence might wane, and we may experience a crisis of faith or hope. “Luck” may be less overt during this period, from April 10th to August 11th, but it’s a good time for looking within and reassessing recent goals.
From the 17th forward, Mercury transits the sign of Aries after a long stay in the sign of Pisces. During the course of this transit until May 6th, Mercury and Mars are in mutual reception and in better shape than usual.
A Full Moon occurs in the sign of Libra on the 19th, bringing sudden awareness to our lives, particularly of relationship imbalances and flaws. The Full Moon last month occurred in the first degree of Libra and now happens in the last degree of the same sign–another critical degree. There may be final word on a matter.
Pluto is stationary on the 24th and turns retrograde. Pluto’s intense and complex energy hangs heavy in the air in the days surrounding this event. Now and over the coming months (Pluto is retrograde until October 3rd), we may be reassessing how we use our power. We are not as open about our desire for control or power, and some of us may be less in touch with it.
On the 29th, Saturn turns retrograde and will continue to travel in this apparent backward motion until September 18th. While Saturn is retrograde, we tend to review our responsibilities and commitments as opposed to dealing with them in the moment. There can be more than usual experiences of guilt and self-doubt as we internalize fears but also the chance to reassess our commitments. Both Saturn and Pluto turning retrograde in the sign of Capricorn can point to rather heavy, contemplative, or turning-point energy to this area of our charts.
