Our Review:
Through the Looking Glass: A Search for the Self in the Mirror of Relationships is Volume 5 in the Seminars in Psychological Astrology series. This is one of the most valuable reads in relationship Astrology I have encountered. Best for students of Astrology who have delved at least a little into the subject of Synastry, this book is largely a transcript of seminars given by Richard Idemon.
Even so, it reads very well and is exceptionally compelling for those fascinated with Synastry as well as psychological Astrology. Here, Idemon explores our “personal mythology” and helps uncover the why’s behind some of our behavior in relationships. He takes on a growth-oriented approach to the study of relationships, and opens the readers’ eyes to patterns of behavior that restrict and limit growth of both ourselves and our relationships. As the title suggests, Idemon views issues that we confront in our relationships as mirrors of our own personal development.
Chapters include a few devoted to the Moon, projection, Mars, relationship significators in the natal chart, and specific synastry techniques. Within these main topics, he explores Jungian theory, different kinds of love (for example, eros and agape), the elements, and more. This book will help you define and identify some family and life conditioning patterns in your own life, and offers suggestions on how to break free.
