The Solar Eclipse occurs today at 6:58 AM EDT in the sign of Aries, the final one of a set of six eclipses along the Aries-Libra axis. This Solar eclipse can highlight and challenge our issues with independence and personal courage.

It’s a powerful time to re-evaluate our relationship with ourselves. We might take steps towards self-mastery and self-empowerment by tackling things that undermine us. Circumstances encourage us to see where we haven’t been faithful to our authentic selves, and it’s a final push to correct imbalances.

This New Moon loosely aligns with retrograde Mercury, and it’s hard to see our path, but our discomfort with the past can be very real now, motivating new beginnings. Alternatively, seeing the past in a new light can help us move on.

As well, Mars, the ruler of Aries, harmonizes with Saturn and Uranus, suggesting a constructive desire to build and innovate.

Although Mercury began its retrograde on March 15th in the sign of Aries, retrograde Mercury returns to the sign of Pisces today and aligns with Neptune in the final degree of Pisces (and the zodiac).

While Mercury is retrograde in the sign of Pisces until April 7th, we might return to old problems, entanglements, and unfinished projects with a renewed perspective. Past ideas and perceptions of people and pursuits in our lives can emerge and change. It’s a strong period for getting in touch with our dreams and ideals. However, we can be especially spacey regarding facts and figures.

We’re also inclined to be quite past-focused. Second-guessing what we see or know can be a theme during Mercury’s retrograde in Pisces. There is a more prominent theme of inaction and ambivalence due to feeling stuck, with mental and emotional energies in conflict. However, as we face difficulties expressing ourselves with words, we might find highly creative ways to communicate our message during this period.

Mercury retrograde in Pisces implies communication snafus revolving around expressing care, compassion, and concern as well as talking about the past or unfinished business, in particular. It’s a strong period for returning to an old study, writing project, or personal interest. It can be a time of scattered thoughts and mental disarray, however.

Themes occurring now can include slander, snitching, resurfacing comments from the past, and misrepresentation on the one hand and creative vision, spiritual learning, guiding, more compassionate viewpoints, and a better understanding of the past on the other.

Mercury’s alignment with Neptune today highlights our intuitive creativity. Daydreaming, visualization, and prophecy are stimulated. Communications may be unclear, vague, or downright confused, and we could indeed be dealing with deception or self-deception. As such, it’s better not to lock something important down under this influence, as a change of mind is likely later. It makes sense to keep our minds and options open for the time being. At the same time, it can be a time of greater understanding as we see a matter with new eyes.
