Mars stations and turns retrograde today, and Mars will remain retrograde until February 23rd, 2025. This retrograde cycle begins in the sign of Leo and will return to Cancer in early January.

We are now positioned to re-assess our current projects, approach to getting what we want, and desire natures. Mars energy is essentially turned inward–it’s internalized, intensified, personalized, and perhaps pressurized. There can be passive-aggressive behavior during this cycle. We may be instigating problems or arguments rather than dealing with issues directly. However, this can be a good time to learn more about our inner motivations and desires, as well as reconsider old projects and interests.

The first part of this retrograde is in the sign of Leo. Pride can push us to greater heights, but it can also keep us from expressing our true feelings or prevent us from truly learning from our experiences and from others. With Mars retrograde in Leo until January 6th, we might see more sulking or pulling away to make a point. Leo rules children, creativity, recreational pleasure, entertainment, and romance. As such, we may need to re-assess our approach to these matters.

We might feel some frustration or anxiety about these matters. Health issues may be a factor (especially in areas ruled by Leo, including the heart), and accidents are possible throughout the Mars retrograde period. Today, we’re shifting gears, suggesting it’s better to reserve judgment.

Retrograde Mercury forms a semi-square with Venus and a square to Saturn today, complicating communications further. Our words may not reflect what’s in our hearts. As we try to get the words just right, we could fall short with sensitivity. We may be in two minds about a matter–decisions can be hard to come by. Nevertheless, we’re making an extra effort to cooperate.

The Mercury-Saturn aspect first occurred on November 12th, while Mercury was direct, and will recur on December 27th. There can be an increase in errors, negative thinking, critique, and miscommunications. Something communicated in November can now come back for correction or refocus. Communication blocks or challenges are possible. We may be dealing with the consequences of guarded, delayed, or contrary communications. Trusting our instincts is difficult, and our thoughts or conversations don’t flow naturally under this influence. Past problems may crop up for review or further attention.

Tonight, Venus aligns with Ceres shortly before both bodies enter Aquarius (early tomorrow). As we pour more heart and special attention into a person, pastime, or project, we can feel pleasantly attached, finding it more natural to nurture and support one another.

At the same time, we might recognize an area where we may need to loosen our grip so that we can move on and begin fresh as both Venus and Ceres head toward Pluto in the sign of Aquarius.

The Moon is void from 7:02 PM EST, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Uranus), until the Moon enters Pisces the next day, Saturday, December 7th, at 4:50 AM EST.
