Major Love Trends in 2013: Libra Love Horoscope

Relationships in 2013 continue some of the main themes as last year, dear Libra, although this year the “ride” is a little easier. There continues to be an inclination to want to bring a casual relationship to a committed level for some of you, but committed partnerships require new “rules” and can be temperamental again this year.

Uranus in your partnership sector is a long-term influence that has the effect of shaking up your relationships and your expectations from companions. It’s an area of life that can certainly be on shaky ground, but with extra care and knowledge, it can also be an exciting period.

Uranus’ aspects this year are mostly challenging, suggesting some stress over relationships and acclimatization necessary for the changes taking place. You are required to change the rules of relationships, or eliminate them altogether. At the same time, you have to take care of yourself, so that a balance is maintained. In other words, give others space, but don’t allow them to make rules for you. For many Libras, a partner is going through big changes, and this in turn puts you in the position of adapting. For single Libras, people who seem to be partnership “material” can come into your life quite suddenly, but then exit it quite suddenly as well; or, there can be a sense that others are unreliable. Some of you will be attracting Aquarian or Uranian people into your relationship experience, or you are attracted to these types of people.

You are more attracted to people who are free-spirited, individualistic, and possibly even eccentric or unstable as close partners; or you attract these types of people into your experience without necessarily wanting to! You are learning about giving freedom to others, and this isn’t always easy, particularly in May, August, and October-November, when disagreements about or with family can surface. Relationships can be unpredictable at this time. As a Libra, learning to detach yourself from some of the too-dependent elements of partnering can be a difficult thing, but if you learn that you can in fact subsist independently, you are more able to relate to others on a healthy level, more able to choose what and who is right for you in a relationship, and less likely to allow others to take advantage of your obliging nature.

With Saturn and the North Node of the Moon in your solar second house all year, opposite your intimacy and sharing sector, the need to establish more independence is reinforced further. You are learning to let go of the tendency to define our own worth and values in terms of others and to be wrapped up in the needs of others at the expense of your own needs. You are learning to establish your self-worth through your own efforts.

Mars is the ruler of your partnership sector, and Mars’ journey through your solar chart during the course of the year can point to relationship tendencies as well as possible places for meeting significant others in some cases. When Mars is in your sign, people seem to come to you, or they are catering to your needs more than usual. In 2013, this occurs from December 7th and into 2014 – in fact, far into 2014, past the mid-year mark! Even so, Venus turns retrograde on December 21st (until January 31, 2014), and love can quickly become complicated. Any Venus retrograde period is especially significant to you, as Venus is your ruler, and during this period, you may be reviewing your feelings.

Key Periods in 2013:

From February 2-25, Venus’ position in your romance sector can boost your love life. It’s a playful, lighthearted, and magnetic period for love, particularly for casual love affairs. Your powers of attraction run high. Love comes to you rather than your having to pursue it.

Mars moves through your partnership sector from March 12-April 20, and Eros moves through the same sector from April 5-May 19. There can be some fireworks in your romantic life now. You can be more ardent in your pursuit of a person or a relationship, or someone could be ardently pursuing you! From March 22-April 15, however, Venus is also in your partnership sector, acting to soften things considerably. It can be an especially pleasurable time for a partnership, and also good for attracting a close relationship.

February and March bring plenty of activity in your partnership sector, stimulating all kinds of opportunities to learn about yourself through a significant other.

From March 27-Apr 8, there is an emphasis on your partnership sector, and this can point to an especially surprising and pleasurable period for close relationships. Opportunities to begin or enhance a relationship can be stimulated now. Your ruler, Venus, aligns with your partnership ruler, Mars, in your partnership sector on April 7th. The element of surprise is in play when the Sun, Venus, and Uranus align in your partnership sector on March 28th. This is a power period for love, romance, and relationships.

August 16-September 10 finds Venus in your own sign. This is a time when the world seems to be speaking, or at least appreciating, your “love language”. It’s a period ripe with opportunity for attracting others, for turning on the charm, and for receiving positive feedback from partners or love interests. Love seems to come to you without the need for your pursuing it.

Mars moving through your privacy sector from October 15-December 7 can be a period in which love is a little more complicated, and may require some sacrifices.

December 7th brings Mars into your sign and symbolically out of “hiding”. Confidence returns with great force. A partnership may begin or pick up speed, and certainly is clearer. A partner seems to be on your side now. This cycle lasts into 2014. It is also a time when others are attracted to your confidence and verve. Actively pursue your desires, which can be plentiful for the time being! However, Venus retrogrades from December 21st forward, and this can point to some stalling or revisiting of the past.

Venus is retrograde from December 21st and into 2014, which affects all of us in general, mainly in the areas of love and finances. These matters are not straightforward during this period, and it is a time for reviewing our attitudes rather than forging ahead boldly into new love relationships or financial projects. Past loves may reappear, possibly in the flesh, or you could be a little hung up on them emotionally. A current romantic interest may be difficult to read. You may be undervaluing or overvaluing someone during this cycle. Venus is your ruler, and its retrograde can put you on the fence.
