2010 Overview. 2010 looks like a more sociable year for most Virgos, as well as one in which challenges of the last couple of years are finally put to rest. 2010 is not expected to be an especially easy year for any of the signs in general–it’s more of a transitional year for most of us. However, the planets are mostly shining quite favorably in your chart, dear Virgo. For one thing, Saturn the taskmaster finishes up in your sign this year, relieving most of you of extra responsibilities and concerns. Ideally, many of you are feeling a lighter load. The weaker areas of your life have been revealed and you’ve either strengthened or let go of them. You are stronger and more self-sufficient. Uranus is also finishing its transit in opposition to your sign this year, and you feel less defensive and rebellious. As well, partnerships become less uncertain and erratic. Partners are not as unreliable as they have been. Love affairs are going through some tests this year, but overall any transformations that you are experiencing in 2010 are easier to digest and to understand. Many of you are struggling with a clash of values when it comes to a love relationship and for some of you, with children. Many of you are discovering creative talents you never knew you had, and you are gaining more confidence about sharing and expressing them. The year demands that you tighten up your spending and pay more attention to budgets, particularly in October and November. It’s a great year for getting spending under control and for getting rid of clutter. The tendency to worry about money could be high, but don’t go overboard with it. Caution and realism are good, but worry is unnecessary and wasteful. Work is very rewarding this year and some of you are realizing a dream to work from home. Close partnerships are a real joy this year. You prefer to spend one-on-one time than interacting in group settings. It’s a very strong year for those of you looking for a happy partnership. Others tend to be supportive, helpful, and positive. Partnering opportunities are strong, particularly in September when life speeds up a little and you lose your fear of taking risks when it comes to your heart. Health and energy levels are improving many times over, particularly in the second half of the year. July 11-29 is strong for love and romance.

2010 Details. Jupiter entering Pisces on January 17th strongly affects you, as Jupiter is now in opposition to your Sun and occupying your solar seventh house, your partnership sector. From January 17th until June, and then again from September 2010 to January 2011, you may enjoy benefits through marriage, serious partnerships, common-law partnerships, business partnerships, negotiations, and/or contractual agreements. This is a year in which you are more likely to establish, or solidify, a significant partnership; or you could be enhancing an existing relationship. You can negotiate more successfully than usual, and, if applicable, you are that much more likely to win in legal matters or other forms of official negotiations. Financial benefits could possibly come through partnerships. For most of you who are already partnered, you are likely to find more joy in close relationships due to a more easygoing and tolerant attitude towards others and partnering in general. Legal matters or challenging relationship problems from the past might more easily be resolved now, and even more casual disputes are likely to be settled during this cycle. The need for freedom in your social relationships is strong, however, and if it is not forthcoming, you could feel caged in and restless. You may find yourself taking on the role of consultant or advisor, or you could benefit from help from same. Good publicity may come your way. If your work involves the public, you can safely expect increased popularity now, or you might receive good reviews, feedback, or word-of-mouth opportunities. Relationships and partnerships benefit from expansive, warm energy, or successful new ones are entered into this year. These positive circumstances won’t necessarily fall into your lap, and are unlikely to come all at once. You need to keep your eyes open for opportunities in these areas of life. Also, although Jupiter is generally considered a positive and happy energy, close relationships could end during this cycle, but if they do, it’s generally in order to move on to a happier, healthier, more tolerant relationship. A warm, open, and honest approach to others wins you positive new relationships, or enhances existing ones.

The most favorable periods for these matters occur while Jupiter is in direct motion in your solar seventh, from January 17 through June 6, and then from November 18-January 22/11.

Saturn continues to transit your solar second house until April 7th, and then again from July 21st forward, urging you to take stock of your effectiveness, self-worth, and finances. This stage of your life may be marked by hard work, but not necessarily of an unpleasant variety! Financial success may not be remarkable, yet it is generally steady, if slow to come by. This transit has traditionally been associated with financial loss, but in truth, it is more about our perceptions—you are apt to review how effective you have been on a financial level to date, and find some dissatisfaction with your progress. In fact, gains may be slow, but sudden reversals are not common with this transit. The purpose of this transit is for you to make the connection between your own feelings of self-worth and what you produce in the real world/get back from the real world. In recent years, you may have had some feelings of being unsupported (you may have been thinking, “I work so hard, and what do I get for all this hard work?”), but as the transit moves forward in 2010, you learn to look inside of yourself with a newfound clarity and realism and ideally draw up considerable strength from within. You work on your effectiveness in the world, and see exactly what has been holding you back from achieving the results you want. The challenge here is to capture the newly found and defined self-confidence you gained while Saturn was in Virgo, and now apply it in the real world. 

Saturn returns to your solar first house from April 7th to July 21st, and this brings some backtracking and review of the last two years of Saturn’s transit through your first house–of your newfound responsibilities. There may be some tests of your ability to rely on yourself, but you are likely to come out of this transit with humble confidence that is based on the real world and realistic expectations. You have matured and are ready to move forward.

Uranus continues to work its way through your solar seventh house. Close relationships may have received a shake-down in recent years, and you may have felt that it’s been hard to truly rely on a partner. Lifeless or outworn relationships may have been especially hard to bear for you. Some trial and error in relationships is par for the course with Uranus in this sector of your chart. This year, more changes in your view of partnerships are in store, but these matters are less pressing than they were in previous years. Neptune continues to move through your sector of work and health as it has been for the last several years. You are more susceptible to medications, chemicals, and other such things during this long-term cycle, so keep this in mind. Stress more easily affects your health as well. Some confusion on the job may have been part of the picture, or your job may have steered towards compassionate service, charity, or other helping professions. Although Virgos are known for their ability to stick to schedules, Neptune’s presence here has made it more challenging to do so.

For Virgos born August 26-29 and those with a Virgo Ascendant of 3-6 degrees, Pluto trines your Sun from the fifth house in 2010, and you are bound to have an uplifting, transforming year. You could take up some form of physical or health program that completely changes the way you feel about yourself. The things that give you joy and positive feedback figure prominently this year, and you feel renewed and regenerated. You also feel particularly strong and personally powerful. There is no such thing as playing the victim this year–you’re the victor and you feel it. You enjoy an increased ability to concentrate and focus on what really matters to you. Living authentically is what this year is all about. You are also learning to “own” your creative voice and the style in which you communicate, becoming less reticent about expressing yourself in creative ways, as well as communicating your ideas and perspectives. Eclipses this year mostly fall in your fifth and eleventh houses.
