Sunday, JULY 7
The Moon spends the day in the sign of Virgo, and we’re more particular than usual, noticing the details of our lives more than usual. Mercury, Virgo’s ruler, stations and turns retrograde today. Mercury’s retrograde lasts until July 31st, beginning in the sign of Leo and ending in the sign of Cancer. During this cycle, our thinking is turned inward as we review and reassess matters. Mercury retrograde periods can be times of heightened inner awareness–times when meditation, journaling, reworking old plans, and reviewing past work are favored more than usual. Minor breaks in the mechanical aspects of communication and transportation can reconnect us to other, possibly more meaningful, means of connecting. The more difficult times are the periods of the shifts themselves (the days surrounding the stations — today and July 31st), after which we grow more and more accustomed to the motion. We should be observing and reviewing rather than making critical decisions with this shift since we’re also between two eclipses. Today’s Mars-Neptune challenge adds some deflation or waning motivation and energy levels to the mix.
The Moon is void from 12:50 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Pluto), until the Moon enters Libra the next day, Monday, July 8th, at 2:07 AM EDT.
