Love sign compatibility: Comparing Venus signs in Astrology
Zodiac Sign Compatibility: Matches for VIRGO
Note: You are likely familiar with comparing sun signs to determine compatibility. It can be much more revealing to compare Venus signs in romantic relationships! Find out your position of Venus by sign here.
Keep in mind that you can use these compatibility interpretations for Sun Signs as well!
If your Venus is in Virgo:
When your Venus is in Virgo, you express love by doing things for–and fussing over–your loved one. You notice little things about your partner, make mental notes of their likes and dislikes (this may sound contrived, but it’s not—it’s simply the way you’re wired!), and genuinely try to help your lover in practical ways. You listen to what your lover has to say, and you have something sensible and intelligent to say in response! In fact, you are great at communicating about your relationship.
One dilemma that can easily happen with this position: Your partner doesn’t always know how to please you. You might have a simple answer, but they may still wonder. Indeed, you see all of the details of your relationship. You worry about its viability and attend to the practical details of the partnership. These are important contributions to the relationship, but because they lack glamor, your partner may not always appreciate you.
You are not the most romantic partner, and your tastes are rather simple (although, as mentioned before, it is hard for others to see this simplicity because you may have a habit of fussing). Can’t see the forest for the trees? Your partner might accuse you of this, and it may be true. You will benefit from sitting back and infusing yourself with some faith in the big picture, once in a while.
But, you are needed! And there are partners who will see that. You work hard at making yourself indispensable in your partner’s life. Generally, you don’t throw yourself into love affairs too readily. This does not mean you are chaste, like the Virgo of yore. Some Venus in Virgo natives can even be promiscuous. But when it comes to gooey romance, where lovers bare all, you are rather selective and self-contained. You are a very sensual being who wants to feel safe before giving yourself to another.
Venus in Virgo has a reputation for being critical. This does happen, but it generally is a symptom of insecurity. You can’t help but see the failings and the holes in any partnership, and you can sometimes be quite reticent about entering a partnership. Generally, though, you will see what’s wrong with a person at the outset of a relationship when it doesn’t feel safe to you as yet. It’s a defense mechanism more than anything! Your own insecurities can propel you to see faults and problems in your partner.
Once you feel safe, however, you are not quite the fussbudget Venus in Virgo is made out to be. You value effort put into a relationship (in fact, for many with this position, effort from their partner is at the top of their list).
(See Venus in Virgo for more details on the Venus in Virgo temperament).
How You Relate to a Partner with Venus in Aries: Here, we are mixing Fire (Aries) and Earth (Virgo – you!). It’s not an easy combination, for certain, but it has its merits. One of the most noticeable differences between you and your partner is their need for stimulation and excitement contrasted with your desire for safety and security. You can be quite active together, and pour some energy into activities, but your partner’s impulsive and competitive nature may leave you feeling insecure.
Both of you are simple in your needs, but those needs are markedly different. Your partner isn’t the most flowery of lovers, and neither are you, but they can be downright insensitive at times. You are a sensitive soul, although not quite as delicate as one might think. You will put up with so much, just to make a relationship work, but you do want some appreciation for all your efforts.
Both of you value honesty, and you’ll generally get it from each other. Your partner will likely appreciate your willingness to please, in the moments when they do, in fact, notice this trait. Money matters will most certainly bring some conflict, as you are more cautious and a natural worrier and your partner can be the classic impulse buyer. Shared interests are important to you, and this may also be a problem, as you and your partner are really quite dissimilar!
How You Relate to a Partner with Venus in Taurus: You and your partner are both Venusian Earth signs, which means you definitely share some common ground. You want to build a workable partnership, and so does your partner! You look for security and safety in love…ditto for your lover.
One of the main differences in your temperaments is your willingness to make adjustments. Your partner is a more stubborn soul, possessing staying power, for sure, but not the flexibility that you so gracefully offer any partnership. This issue may be the most difficult of your problems together.
Both of you are sensual lovers, appreciating the simple pleasures of sex. Sexually, your partner is more capable of calming your nervous nature than most lovers, helping to make you feel whole and scads more comfortable in your own skin. You appreciate the aura of safety that quite naturally surrounds your partner. They sense your commitment and integrity in partnership, which is very pleasing indeed!
Shared interests and projects are important to you in terms of satisfaction derived from the partnership, and this may indeed happen with your Venus in Taurus partner, although you might be the one doing more of the hard work.
How You Relate to a Partner with Venus in Gemini: Because you tend to value intelligence and communication, there can be quite a bit of mental attraction between you and your Venus in Gemini partner. Both of you are somewhat restless and curious people.
Although sharing ideas is important to you, your partner may be less discriminating than you in terms of who they communicate with. You come alive in an established relationship. Your partner, on the other hand, requires a little more freedom and may often turn to other people in addition to you for mental stimulation. This is healthy for your partner, but it may be somewhat intimidating for you, as you prefer to be the most indispensable person in any partner’s life.
You also tend to be more sensitive in matters of the heart than your happy-go-lucky lover. Your partner thrives on variety, and tires easily of a love relationship that becomes too predictable. You are restless as well, but you are at your best in an established, rather predictable, and safe relationship.
Both of you are flexible people, although your partner may take this to an extreme that makes you feel uncomfortable. You may begin to question the sincerity and constancy of your partner over time.
How You Relate to a Partner with Venus in Cancer: This pairing is one of the better combinations in practice! Care and nurture will be a strong theme in this relationship. This is most likely to be a low-key relationship—perhaps not as exciting as some, but fertile in a quiet way. The physical and sensual aspects of love are important and emphasized in your relationship with this loyal and nurturing partner. Your partner’s mood swings in love may spark an occasional problem, and they might find your approach to love a tad dry at times. Both of you, however, crave security and dependability in partnership, and you are both very capable of delivering these things to each other.
You and your Venus in Cancer lover come alive in a safe environment—exactly the kind of atmosphere you enjoy creating. Indeed, you value the sincerity of your partner’s approach to love, and they sense your willingness to put effort into making your relationship work. You may find your partner lacking in the communication department, however, simply because they place a higher value on non-verbal expressions of love. It’s important for you to understand that your partner is very sensitive to criticism, and what you might consider constructive criticism might result in some feelings of rejection.
With understanding and tolerance, however, your partner can help you see the forest for the trees, and you, with your gentle ways, can stimulate your partner to open up a little more than comes naturally to them. More than likely, there is a lot of respect between the two of you, and a feeling of security that is enviable.
How You Relate to a Partner with Venus in Leo: You are the worrywart in love, focusing on what will come of your relationship in the future. Your Venus in Leo lover, however, lives for the moment, fully enjoying the delightful passion and desire that is often characteristic of the first stage of romance. You worry about the practical side of the partnership. Your partner expresses their love for you in a lavish, showy manner. They are consumed with the romance of your relationship and might expect you to feel the same way.
You easily feel threatened by your partner’s apparent “experience,” but do remember that your lover is given to brag a little, and they are trying to win your favor—perhaps the wrong way! In their desire to be viewed as irresistible, your partner may inadvertently make you feel insecure, in other words.
You express your love by laying solid groundwork for your partnership. This doesn’t sound exceptionally romantic to your starry-eyed lover, but the practical side of your relationship is important, and somebody has to do it (Venus in Leo would prefer not!). Try not to feel intimidated by your partner, and enjoy their generous love nature. Your partner may be so lavish with praise that it seems insincere. It’s not! Don’t overanalyze it.
Virgo and Leo are side-by-side signs—they don’t share the same element nor do they come from the same modality. The result is a lack of understanding between the signs. Do not despair, however! With a healthy dose of tolerance, this relationship can be handled. A conscious relationship is what Astrology can help with. Being aware of the different personality traits and needs of each partner is the first step to greater understanding.
How You Relate to a Partner who also has Venus in Virgo: Both of you value the same things in love, which is a good starting point. Shared interests are important to you, but in this case, when two Venusian Virgos are together, it would make a little more sense (a word you both love!) to have different projects and interests. Why? Because you both tend to want to run the show when it comes to pet projects.
In the love relationship in general, however, you are flexible and attentive. It may be difficult to choose a leader! There doesn’t always have to be a leader in a relationship, of course, but the relationship might become a little bogged down in details. Ideally, you have some strong Water or Fire signs elsewhere in your chart, helping to infuse some energy and heart into an otherwise somewhat dry combination.
You need to establish some far-reaching goals for the partnership, something that doesn’t come too naturally for either of you, simply because you are too busy taking care of the business at hand. You can be somewhat nervous in love, and your partner is inclined in this direction as well. Be careful not to pick each other apart, and enjoy the fantastic conversations you will inevitably share.
How You Relate to a Partner with Venus in Libra: You and your lover share a love of balance and harmony, which can be a major point of attraction between you. One of the problems that arise between Venusian Air (Libra) and Earth (Virgo) temperaments, however, is a fundamental difference in styles of loving that can lead to misunderstandings. You are certainly a thinker, but your partner is more given to sharing flights of fancy while your ideas are more conservative and practical. Your partner might find you too skeptical in matters of the heart; at the same time, you might consider your partner to be too idealistic.
Your Venus in Libra lover has a somewhat detached manner, and you might interpret the “airs” that they put on (read: charm!) as a lack of sincerity. Loyalty is of utmost importance to you, and your lover is certainly capable of giving a lot to the partnership. In fact, they live for partnership! But your partner’s detached manner might make you feel somewhat insecure and threatened.
Both of you, however, are very willing to make adjustments in order for your relationship to work. You can enjoy very stimulating conversations, especially if you appreciate each other’s different styles of expression. Both of you are very willing to bend and adapt to keep the relationship alive, and this can make all the difference when two dissimilar personalities pair up.
How You Relate to a Partner with Venus in Scorpio: Trust doesn’t come extremely easy to either you or your partner but put you together, and the atmosphere feels quite safe. Your partner is passionate and intense—perhaps even provocative. If they sense passion and commitment are missing or waning, your lover may go to any means (often subtle) to keep the relationship from becoming boring. This is because your partner can be somewhat addicted to emotional excitement.
You are usually receptive to your partner’s wishes and needs, and you tend to bend your ways accordingly. You work hard at making your relationship work—something that your partner senses and appreciates. Neither of you is frivolous about committed relationships, and if you and your partner are committed to each other, this pairing can be hard to break.
This pairing combines Venusian Earth (you) and Water (your partner). When you understand each other’s different styles of loving, the combination can be very fertile. Problems generally arise between the differences in focus. Both of you are committed to making your relationship last, but you value practical expressions of commitment, while your partner values emotional ones. Subtle control issues may be the source of problems over time. If your partner senses any emotional distance on your part, they may use various means to regain some sense of control.
Generally, you only appear “distant” because you are busy tending to the cogs in the machine of your relationship. You may find your partner’s silences frustrating, as you are always willing to talk about your relationship and don’t always understand why your partner resorts to giving you the silent treatment! Your partner is skilled at knowing how to push your buttons, however, and this may be one of the more potent ways they have discovered to get your attention!
As long as game-playing is kept to a minimum, this relationship has many strengths and much potential.

How You Relate to a Partner with Venus in Sagittarius: This combination is one of the more difficult ones. There can be a considerable attraction at the beginning, but some major disconnects in terms of values and relationship styles are likely over time—nothing insurmountable, of course!
The common ground you share is a desire to learn through your relationship and a willingness to talk things over. Your partner values your keen insight and you can have some wonderful conversations. Your Venus in Sagittarius lover, especially, gets off on the sharing of ideas, and thoroughly enjoys philosophizing.
You are certainly the more practical partner in this pairing, and your partner may find you a bit of a stick in the mud at times. Certainly, you may complain of their blind faith in the relationship, preferring that your partner lives in the here and now. You value the effort put into the relationship, and you can’t help but see all of the “little things” that make up its whole. Your partner, on the other hand, prefers to think of your partnership in grander, larger terms. This can be very annoying for you!
You will likely disagree on how to spend money as well. Your partner is not a save-for-a-rainy-day type of person by any stretch of the imagination (unless Saturn is aspecting their Venus)! Your lover needs space and at least the illusion of freedom. They are very threatened by any attempts to confine them. Needless to say, your partner will be much happier if there is a strong feeling of growth in your relationship. Making plans and defining goals may help, but attempting to control or cage your partner in will have unfavorable results.
How You Relate to a Partner with Venus in Capricorn: Both of you have Venus placed in earth signs, and the similarities between your needs in romance and partnership will be obvious. Security in partnership is a shared value, and each of you takes responsibility for their share of the relationship. Although pairing two earth signs sounds a little…well, dry…there is sure to be plenty of mutual respect and appreciation circulating between you! Your partner cherishes some moments of solitude, and that is something that you will need to understand and respect. There is no reason to feel threatened by this behavior.
Both of you are somewhat reticent at the beginning of a relationship, perhaps more so on your partner’s side, perhaps because both of you are responsible people who can be a little shy and cautious in matters of the heart. It may be slow-moving at the beginning as a result. However, this is a commitment-friendly combination as you will find much to trust in one another. Both of you have a work ethic and are relatively conservative with money. You will work hard at making things work, and so will your partner. Each of you is concerned about putting down roots.
Criticism tends to come naturally to both of you, so you will have to try to channel it into constructive areas instead of letting loose on each other! All in all, however, this pairing is an easygoing and stable one.
How You Relate to a Partner with Venus in Aquarius: Your partner gets off on visions, possibilities, and opportunities. You, on the other hand, are most concerned with making a relationship work. Mentally, you and your partner might have much to share. Both of you enjoy having meaningful conversations with the people you love. What you prefer to talk about may not be compatible, however!
You believe your needs are simple, and in many ways they are. You respond best to practical displays of affection, and because your Venus is in an Earth sign, you value your partner’s physical presence. A partner who is always running off to see friends, for example, could make you feel somewhat insecure and decidedly unloved. Your partner values exactly that freedom, so this is an area in your relationship that you both will need to work on.
Your partner’s appreciation of you is paramount. Otherwise, you are prone to feeling like you have done something wrong. Your partner shows their love in different ways, and the independence your lover needs, if misunderstood, can lead you to worry far too much. Note that if you loosen up and be yourself, your lover will appreciate you all the more. Misunderstanding of each other’s unique and different love natures is what is most likely to divide you. This relationship can be a little more challenging than some, but compassion and understanding can most certainly make it work.
How You Relate to a Partner with Venus in Pisces: This is a case of “opposites attract,” except that when signs are literally opposite in Astrology, they share a common thread that can bind them together. This is a magnetic combination. You sense in each other a common sensitivity, but you express your love in different ways altogether. The truth is that you have much to learn from each other.
Relationships become challenging when the very qualities that attract you to one another in the first place become a source of friction later. Always remind yourself that your partner is just that—your partner, not an enemy. You will appreciate your lover’s gentleness and sympathy, although you can find them to be somewhat evasive at times. This is because while you are happy to define love, your partner prefers to leave some things unspoken.
Faith in love is something your Venus in Pisces partner can teach you if you are open to it. You can help ground your partner, reminding them that order in a partnership is helpful for establishing a sense of purpose when done in moderation. Moderation, in fact, is the answer to establishing balance in your relationship, and with love and compassion, you will find it easier than most couples to work toward that goal.
