Relationships & Love in 2011: Overview
Astro Talk: This year, Jupiter ends its transit through compassionate, spiritual Pisces, moves through the entire assertive sign of Aries (from January to June), and transits earthy, sensual Taurus from June forward. Electric Uranus enters independent Aries in March. Serious Saturn continues to move through Libra, the sign that rules one-to-one relationships, including marriage and business partnerships. Neptune is close to finishing its transit through Aquarius in 2011, but not quite. Neptune does enter Pisces in April before returning to Aquarius in August. Neptune will leave Aquarius for good in 2012. Pluto continues its slow journey through Capricorn. Neither Venus nor Mars turn retrograde in 2011.
What does this mean? Saturn in Libra for most of the year continues to bring a “meet me halfway” energy to relationships. Saturn will certainly bring tests to the foundations of partnerships, and those with weak foundations are challenged to strengthen them. An emphasis on cardinal signs suggests the need to take action in our lives. Much of the pressure on the Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces) eases with only Uranus (of the outer planets) directly challenging their signs until March.
From January 22-June 4th, Jupiter in assertive, outgoing Aries brings a general philosophy of life that emphasizes independence and individual freedom. Faith in ourselves can bring about positive circumstances or good “luck”. Relationships can benefit from the general attitude that the past should be left behind us. Some of us can feel considerably more confidence in our ability to be independent, and this can test relationships, particularly towards the end of March, when Jupiter in me-first Aries opposes Saturn in us-centered Libra oppose one another, bringing this me-you and me-us energy to a head. This can be especially strong for Sun in Aries and Aries Ascendant people. Relationships may be seen as overly serious or restricting at this time. Saturn in Libra’s hard aspect to Chiron and Neptune in February and March can bring some level of disillusionment into the picture.
From June 4th onward, Jupiter is in Taurus, and our philosophy of life alters considerably. We value the here and now – what we have. With Jupiter forming very harmonious aspects from June forward as well, we might find that we have more appreciation for what we already have, and this can be very strengthening for existing relationships, particularly if the emphasis is on the giving and receiving of pleasure, and if they are not too complicated. With Jupiter’s trine to Pluto from July to October, we might also especially value relationships that keep us feeling free from want materially speaking, or that seem to be moving in that direction. Relationships themselves may be seen as a vehicle through which we can feel more secure spiritually speaking. Jupiter also sextiles Neptune and Chiron in Pisces during this period, and these influences can help us to bring more magic to our relationships. Generosity and compassion increases, and our faith is boosted. We more easily make personal sacrifices for what we believe to be for the better good, and we might adapt our philosophies in order to better appreciate what we have. Taurus, Capricorn, and Pisces are most directly affected by these influences.
