About

Cafe Astrology: Relationships is the blog offshoot of CafeAstrology.com, a mega-site for astrology interpretations, horoscopes, and articles.
I’m Annie Heese, owner of Cafe Astrology and writer for a number of other sites and publications, which I plan to link to here in my *newest* blog, contained in these pages. When something comes to mind that I want to share, I’ll post it here.
I live in Montreal, Quebec, Canada with my three kids, pictured at right. They’re at least a decade older than they were in this picture, but it’s the only one I have permission to post. (Not all of them want me to publish recent images, so I am settling on this one).
My main job was once a reviewer of children’s educational software, games, toys, books, music, and other products, which I still do and enjoy, but astrology has taken over most of my waking hours. I write/wrote for EdutainingKids.com, ReviewCorner.com, magazines, and the Discovery Channel. I still love games and toys–gadgets of any kind. I have also written scores of articles on relationships, sexuality, health and wellness, and single parenting for various publications.
I’ve also done a heck of a lot of jewelry making over the years, mainly for sale because although I admire original pieces, I don’t wear much jewelry. Creating handmade unique jewelry was extremely satisfying and absorbing, and I am quite certain that I will go back to it “one day”. The creative process was rewarding; the selling part was pure drudgery. I haven’t found the time to do it recently, and gave up my beads and supplies to my mother, who does wondrous things with crafts.
I originally set up Cafe Astrology as a hobby site–something to work on when I had time. As my kids grew older (and less interested in the toys and games that I was reviewing), I shifted focus to astrology. I wrote (with pen on paper) most of the main descriptions of the signs of the zodiac published on Cafe Astrology in the early 90’s. So, when I opened the site in 2002, I added these descriptions and took it from there. (There was most definitely a Saturn cycle at work there!).
I love music and completely get off on my collection. My taste is diverse but some bands I turn to time and time again are Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson, Bjork, Imogen Heap, Chicane, DJ Shadow, Smashing Pumpkins, Korn, the Cult, Moby, Disturbed, Primal Scream…the list goes on….alternative for the most. When life sucks, there’s nothing like loud music (and dance) to help get myself back on track. For some reason, loud music cures most of my stress headaches (they happen a lot – Saturn in Aries rising) like no pain reliever can, and it helps me de-stress when I am anxious about something. Family members are used to this quirk of mine, and pretty much take it as a given that I need to pump out my currently most “personally meaningful” tunes at high volume before an event I am even the slightest bit tense about, or to celebrate something that’s just happened.
I love to read, but don’t get to do it as much as I used to (before the internet rendered my attention span short), when classic fiction was my favorite. From mythology, I loved the story of Eros and Psyche from the first time I read it. I have the asteroid Psyche conjunct my Descendant, and met a man some years ago whose Eros is conjunct it. One of my favorite images is this depiction of Eros (at right), which I have framed on my living room wall.
Relationship astrology is my passion. Besides my blog entries, I also have a selection of articles about relationship astrology (synastry), compatibility, love, romance, and sexuality on this blog, including ErosScopes–monthly love horoscopes for each sign.
Many readers have suggested we add a forum to Cafe Astrology, which may just happen in the future. This blog is one step closer to a more interactive experience. Leave a comment or two!
