Daily Trends
The FIRST QUARTER MOON occurs on Wednesday, May 15th, 2024, at 7:48 AM EDT.
On Wednesday, the Taurus Sun and Leo Moon form a square, and a First Quarter Moon occurs.
There is a crisis theme surrounding any quarter Moon phase, as we feel compelled to take action. Shortly after, we become aware of how our actions affect those close to us, perhaps through trial and error. Any project or initiative we began around the New Moon is now off the ground, and it may face its first obstacles.
The chart:
This phase of the Moon occurs at 25 degrees and 8 minutes of Leo square the Sun at the same degree of Taurus, and affecting people with personal planets and points at 23 to 27 degrees of the Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius) most significantly.

This week: The Sun is in Taurus; Mercury is in Aries until the 15th, when it enters Taurus; Venus is in Taurus; Mars is in Aries.
The Sun is in Taurus from April 19-May 20. In Taurus, the Sun is methodical, sensual, and receptive. The Sun in Taurus is most active when it is defending or resisting! As the Sun moves through Taurus when plants take root, our determination and security needs are strong. Taurus is loyal to all that is familiar and values longevity. The shadow side of Taurus is possessiveness and bullheadedness.
The Sun in Taurus is the connoisseur and sensualist. It’s patient, stubborn, earthy, stable, and rooted. The Sun-in-Taurus cycle is a good one for maintaining or building, as well as enjoying and appreciating what’s already in place. While the Taurus Sun is slow to warm up, it’s stable and persevering once it does. We value what’s long-term, strong, and lasting during this phase.
Mercury is in Aries from March 9-May 15. When Mercury is in Aries, we are less concerned with objective viewpoints and explanations, and more concerned with reaching a decision…quickly! Our thoughts and ideas are pioneering, and we tend to speak more spontaneously and directly with the planet of communication in bold and assertive Aries.
There can be quick, possibly impatient or hurried, decisions during this cycle, and our responses are similar: quick and perhaps defensive or combative. We value independent thought, and we can be mentally competitive. executive decisions. We prefer to learn through personal experience, not instruction.
Mercury is in Taurus from May 15-June 3. When Mercury is in Taurus, our thinking is down to earth, solid, and grounded. Common sense reigns over more fanciful thinking. We communicate more deliberately under this influence, and our minds are oriented to the world of the five senses. We prefer the tried and true rather than new ways of thinking.
Attention to one thing at a time can simplify our lives, but we may be in danger of narrow, overly conservative, or rigid thinking. It’s a time of practical intelligence and comfortably-paced decisions and thought processes. We’re capable of (and content with) rote, routine, deliberate, or monotonous work and methods.
Venus is in Taurus from April 29-May 23. In Taurus, Venus is naturally very sensual, content, and possessive. We seek security and value those things that are long-lasting. Our appetite for pleasure is strong.
The sign of Taurus values the here and now and the world of the five senses. Tangible and physical expressions of love and romance figure strongly during the Venus-in-Taurus cycle. Holding on to someone or something we love is our tendency under this influence.
The shadow side of this is excessive possessiveness and treating our partners as objects that we own or want to own.
On the financial side, Venus in Taurus looks for high-quality, solid, practical, and long-lasting items. Holding on to our possessions is more likely now. With art, tastes, and pleasures, we prefer things that are earthy, natural, and grounded. We can be somewhat indulgent at this time. Uncertainty bothers us more than usual–we favor stability over excitement in love and pleasure.
Mars is in Aries from April 30-June 9. Mars feels at home in Aries, one of the signs that it rules, and therefore its power is boosted. Our energy is spontaneous, forward-looking, and even courageous under this influence. Our competitive spirit is well-developed, and our goal is to win! We are active, single-minded, and confident.
Our actions are direct–we instinctively find the fastest way to get from point A to point B. The shadow side of Mars in Aries is a tendency to be impatient, arrogant, impulsive, short-lived, unreflective, and self-centered.
We pursue our goals straightforwardly, confidently, unabashedly, and directly with Mars in Aries. The same goes for expressing anger. We want to be first, come first, and do things on our own–our independence, enterprise, and initiative are well-developed.
This transit is better for endeavors that require courage and strong but not necessarily sustained passion and energy. We don’t want to look back or overthink–we only concern ourselves with what we can accomplish right now. Not inclined to beat around the bush, we confidently pursue our desires.
Jupiter is in Taurus.
Jupiter began its transit of Taurus on May 16th, 2023, and continues its transit of the sign until May 25th, 2024. Read more about Jupiter’s transit of Taurus. Read more about Jupiter’s upcoming transit of Gemini.
Saturn transits Pisces from March 7th, 2023 until May 24th, 2025, and Sep 1st, 2025, to Feb 13th, 2026. Read about Saturn’s transit of Pisces.
Uranus is in Taurus.
Uranus transits Taurus from May 15, 2018, to November 6, 2018, and then from March 6th, 2019, until 2025/6. We approach money and personal possessions in new ways and learn to free ourselves from certain material constraints. Innovative ways to make ourselves comfortable emerge. We’re less inhibited about expressing sensuality, self-love, body love, and pampering. Above all, we’re challenging what we previously valued during this cycle.
There can be abrupt changes with money, valuables, possessions, and income that lead to a reshuffling of priorities or values. Income might come from non-traditional sources or ventures. In general, we’re bringing progressive ideas to the world of business. New ways of doing business, as well as making, viewing, and handling money, are likely. Our income and the energy we put into making money can be variable.
Pluto transitions from Capricorn to Aquarius in 2023 and 2024. Read about Pluto’s transit of Aquarius. Pluto retrograded back into Capricorn, and was in Capricorn until January 20th, 2024. Pluto is in Aquarius from January 20th to September 1st, when it will retreat into Capricorn once again. Note: Pluto is slow-moving through the zodiac signs!
Romance & Relationships
Venus is in Taurus from April 29-May 23. In Taurus, Venus is usually quite content, but can be possessive. We seek security and value that which lasts. Our appetite for pleasure is strong. Taurus values the here and the now as well as the world of the five senses. Tangible and physical expressions of love and romance are most important now. Holding on to someone we love is our tendency under Venus in Taurus. The shadow side of this is excessive possessiveness and treating our partners as objects that we own or want to own.
This week: On Monday, we’re ready to lock something down, make a commitment, or simply embrace responsibility. It’s a great time to show our love through our actions, commitment, and reliability or loyalty.
On Friday and Saturday, a need for a fresh start is with us. We want to move forward fearlessly into the future. Attractions are immediate and pleasant, although perhaps surprising. Spontaneity and impulsiveness tend to rule in matters of the heart now. Romantic infatuations, gossip, and unanticipated opportunities, socially or financially, can figure strongly now. We have a greater need for social excitement.
Venus, the Goddess of Love: Highlights in the Coming Week:
Venus in Taurus A love of music, an appreciation for sensual pleasures and others of the finer things in life – such are the signs of the cycle which has begun for you. This is aesthetic and artistic to be sure, but it is also practical and materialistic: you develop a keen appreciation for the value of things, including the money it takes to buy them.
Venus semi-square Neptune May 10. Romantic confusion as well as relationship ups and downs. Self-deceptions may come to light now.
Venus sextile Saturn May 13. Relationships are stabilized and steady, although feelings are expressed reservedly, formally, or sparingly. A new sense of realism in existing partnerships. Relationships begun under this influence possess a distinctly practical theme, almost as if the partnership is a business endeavor.
Venus conjunct Uranus May 17-18. We have a taste for the unusual and the avant garde. We are itching for a change. What makes a person unique is more attractive under this influence. Excitement and newness are valued over permanence in social relationships. Freedom is more important than intimacy just now. We lose our fears of taking risks in love and social situations. Romantic infatuations, gossip, unanticipated opportunities socially or financially. We have a greater need for self-expression, personal freedom, and social excitement.
Venus parallel Uranus May 19. There can be spontaneous meetings and forward movement in our relationships. We have good instincts for future trends. We embrace all that is new, unusual, and out-of-the-ordinary with regards to romantic involvements. We lose our fear of taking risks at this time. We are ready to experiment, but not necessarily ready to commit. Peculiar, sudden, or avant garde attractions. This is an exciting but unstable energy. Friendship in love relationships becomes more important.
Venus parallel Jupiter May 21-22. We are charitable with others and have a stronger desire than usual to find meaning in our relationships. There may be some overstating or overindulgence now, however.
Venus conjunct Jupiter May 22-23. We have large appetites for love and pleasure, and generosity of spirit as well. An excellent time (all things considered) to begin a new relationship, or renew an old/existing one.
Venus sextile Neptune May 22-23. Unusual attractions that add imagination, inspiration, and emotional “color” to our lives may occur now. We are attuned to the subtleties of human interaction, and we are more inclined to naturally cooperate with others. An imaginative, romantic time.
Venus trine Pluto May 24-25. Powerful and uplifting time for romantic/sexual relationships. New insights into relationships and love. Strong attractions. Relationships are intense and deep, but not draining.
The Moon & Timing
The Void of Course Moon is the period of time after the Moon has made its last aspect in one sign until the Moon enters a new sign. During the Void of Course Moon periods, it is generally wise to stick to routine rather than to begin new projects.
The last aspect the Moon makes before changing signs is indicated here and is indicative of the “outcome” of the matter (whether that is a new project begun before the void period or the answer to a question in Horary Astrology).
Void of Course in Horary Astrology: If you were asking a question and making a chart to determine the answer, as you do in Horary astrology, it is said that since the Moon is not looking forward to any more aspects in this sign, you would have to say that the answer is not forthcoming; any questions asked at this time would not come to pass.
The Moon being Void is one of the Strictures against Judgment in Horary Astrology. The following tables incorporate the modern planets, but some astrologers do not count Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in void Moon calculations.
The Void-of-Course Moon this Week:
Void-of-course Moon on Monday, May 13th, from 5:14 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Neptune), until the Moon enters Leo at 6:37 AM EDT.
VOC Moon on Wednesday, May 15th, from 12:42 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Jupiter), until the Moon enters Virgo at 5:34 PM EDT.
VOC Moon on Saturday, May 18th, from 5:09 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (an opposition to Neptune), until the Moon enters Libra at 6:23 AM EDT.
May 2024:
Timing with the Moon – Better Periods this Week for Electing New Initiatives
It’s important to note that there are more factors to consider in addition to the windows listed below. The following windows are starting points. For example, you generally don’t want to elect a new venture when a very challenging aspect is applying, and it’s preferable to elect a time when a particularly positive aspect hasn’t yet perfected (is applying rather than separating).
The Moon is waxing this week, which is generally considered favorable for new beginnings, with exceptions. (See Best Time to Start a Business for more details).
According to principles of timing with the Moon, a window of opportunity occurs from approximately 2:00 AM EDT to 5:10 AM EDT on Monday, May 13th, while the Moon is in Cancer.

This Week’s Calendar
This Week’s Aspects
Sun conjunct Uranus. A new cycle of independence, progressiveness, and change begins. We are more inclined to accept and appreciate all that is new, unusual, and avant garde. We have an opportunity to shine for what makes us unique. Favors the media, computers, metaphysical subjects. Restlessness and a need for change. Restriction is not tolerated now. Our egos are awakened and we seek new ways to express ourselves. There is a need to be creative and unique in our expression of self. This is usually a time to join with groups and/or to become a group leader. It’s also an easy time to make new friends. Sudden, unexpected events can happen out of the blue.
Venus sextile Saturn. Affections stabilize and mature. Relationships are stabilized and steady, although feelings are expressed reservedly, formally, or sparingly. A new sense of realism in existing partnerships comes now. Small advances can be made in business and in partnerships. Support from older people or authority figures may come by way of solid advice or tangible help. Renewed ties to old friends are possible, or a new sense of responsibility in existing friendships.
Mercury square Pluto. The tendency to read between the lines with a negative slant is strong during this transit, and can easily stir up trouble. Suspiciousness, making mountains out of molehills, telling others only what we want them to know are possible themes. Mental anxiety or troubles could manifest now. We should try to avoid forcing our ideas on others and strive to maintain an open mind. Compulsive thinking is possible. On the other hand, this influence can suggest the ability to engage in deep, penetrating communication.
Mars semi-square Jupiter. Although we may have much enthusiasm for life and for new projects, over-confidence and over-estimation of what we can do is likely. We are ready and willing to fight for our beliefs. We may be excitable and competitive. Jumping ahead without considering the consequences can be costly.
Mercury semi-square Saturn. Red tape, re-doing tasks we thought we had finished, problems getting from point A to point B, delays in communication, negative thinking, hyper-sensitivity and criticism–these are all potentials now. The energy is best used for focusing on fixing errors rather than harping on how irritating they are!
Venus conjunct Uranus. We have a taste for the unusual and the avant garde. We are itching for a change. What makes a person unique is more attractive under this influence. Excitement and newness are valued over permanence in social relationships. We lose our fears of taking risks in love and social situations. Romantic infatuations, gossip, unanticipated opportunities socially or financially. We have a greater need for self-expression, personal freedom, and social excitement.
Sun conjunct Jupiter. Vitality increases as we build our confidence. We feel more generous, optimistic, and sociable under this influence. We might hunger for increased recognition and respect, and, with our generous attitude and concern for others’ well-being, we might just get what we want. This is a good time to take steps to grow something–our business, our significant relationships, and so forth. This transit also favors legal, educational, religious, and cultural endeavors.

MAY 12
Today’s Moon in Cancer is self-contained, strong, and warm. Its harmonious aspects today offer us easy solutions to life’s problems and opportunities to add flavor to our lives without shaking things up too much. Safety and security are motivating factors now. Positive feelings and optimism dominate, along with some sentimentality. What we do and feel are in harmony, and we benefit from this clarity. A cozy, friendly, and comfortable feeling of security is a theme. However, the Sun is parallel Uranus today, and these two bodies will form a conjunction tomorrow morning. This alignment signifies a desire to stand out, experience extraordinary things, make a change, and improve ourselves. It’s a time to make room for spontaneity as we seek new or unique ways to express ourselves, as this could lead to significant shifts and improvements in our lives.
MAY 13
This morning, the Sun aligns with Uranus in the sign of Taurus, a yearly celestial event that heralds change, disruptions, interruptions, and new directions. This alignment also brings a sense of freedom of movement and a potential shift in our modus operandi. It prompts us to seek new ways to enjoy and express ourselves, handle money and possessions, and find comfort. This alignment can make us progressive and pioneering, but also defiant or rebellious. With Uranus, a certain level of detachment or decrease in sentimentality may be necessary to break free from limiting situations. We’re drawn to what’s unusual or avant-garde. With Uranus in Taurus, we’re transforming our views and use of money and personal possessions. Our values are evolving, and today’s energies highlight this theme. We’re also inclined to challenge the rules or go against tradition and expectations. Our egos awaken, and there may be sudden changes in store.
Later in the day, a Venus-Saturn sextile brings a contrasting energy, one that is more cautious and practical. This transit encourages us to sort out our feelings and adopt a considered, practical approach, particularly in our social lives. It’s a grounding influence that helps stabilize our affections. We place a higher value on security, steadiness, and loyalty. This transit enhances the appeal of the ordinary and reliable–we appreciate longstanding alliances or tried-and-true pleasures. We become more responsible with others and with our own feelings and affections. Our judgment is sound, and we’re a little more conservative with money under this influence. We can find enjoyment in planning and organizing, and this energy can help us feel more secure and stable.
The Moon is void from 5:14 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Neptune), until the Moon enters Leo at 6:37 AM EDT.
MAY 14
Today’s Leo Moon encourages our theatrical, playful, and competitive sides, sparking a sense of personal growth and discovery. With Leo’s ruler, the Sun, parallel the Moon and Jupiter today, we’re generous, open-hearted, cheerful, and hopeful, creating an atmosphere of inspiration. It’s a time to welcome one another and feel included. There may be some instances of overindulgence, but our intentions are good, and we promptly offer people the benefit of the doubt. We’re also inclined to take the high road, open ourselves up to new possibilities, and keep growth and discovery as our personal priorities.
MAY 15
We are outgoing, competitive, and loving with the Moon in Leo until 5:34 PM EDT. This morning, the First Quarter Moon occurs, bringing with it a crisis theme as the Sun in Taurus forms a square with the Moon in Leo. This phase compels us to take action, to confront and overcome challenges. Shortly after, we become aware of how our actions affect those close to us, perhaps through trial and error. The Virgo Moon from 5:34 PM forward encourages more attention to detail. Mercury enters Taurus today, where it will transit until June 3rd. Our thinking is down-to-earth, stable, and grounded during this cycle. Common sense reigns over fanciful thinking. We communicate more deliberately under this influence. While Mercury is in Taurus, we gravitate to tried and true methods. Attention to one thing at a time can simplify our lives during this cycle, but we should watch for overly conservative, stubborn, or rigid thinking.
The Moon is void from 12:42 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Jupiter), until the Moon enters Virgo at 5:34 PM EDT.
MAY 16
With a Virgo Moon all day, it can be satisfying to handle practical matters. We want to be useful and productive, and focusing on details seems the best route to making headway. We tend to focus on the parts that make up a whole. As the day advances, Mercury heads toward a square to Pluto, stirring some suspicion. We can be determined to get our message across and have others agree with our ideas. This aspect may play to our insecurities and fears that we’re not getting all the information we need or that others don’t respect our views. We should avoid forcing our opinions on others and instead strive for healthy skepticism rather than suspicion or paranoia. Obsessive thinking is possible now, but with self-awareness and mindfulness, we might engage in in-depth, penetrating communication or think more deeply about a matter.
MAY 17
Mercury’s early-morning square to Pluto can have our minds twisted in a knot. We’re overthinking things. Mars and Jupiter form a semi-square midday, generating much enthusiasm and paving the way for potential success and achievement. However, this can also lead to misjudging, mainly about the time and energy necessary to fulfill a goal or venture. There can be some jumping ahead, impulsiveness, haughtiness, and competitiveness. However, a Mercury-Saturn semi-square this evening points to potential delays or miscommunications. We may need to manage some inconveniences in our communications and transit. Today’s Virgo Moon is productive and supportive, especially as it harmonizes with Venus and Uranus as both bodies head toward an alignment. We’re using new methods and techniques to boost our everyday lives.
MAY 18
Two conjunctions occur in the sign of Taurus today. First, Venus aligns with Uranus this morning, encouraging us to let go of rigidity. The need to express ourselves freely and openly comes on strongly. It’s a time when we go a little off-script socially. Whether we know it or not, we’re itching for a change! Connecting with this desire can help us steer and navigate better. For the time being, we value stimulation and newness over permanence. We lose our fear of taking risks in love, social situations, and with pleasure. There can be infatuations, whims, gossip, and unexpected opportunities socially or financially. We need more self-expression, personal freedom, and social excitement.
Secondly, the Sun aligns with Jupiter, igniting a sense of growth, improvement, and expansion. We’re enterprising and positive, filled with renewed joy, faith, and optimism. This is a time of discovery, where we’re more motivated to give than receive. Our vitality soars as we build our confidence. We value integrity and wisdom, and this influence can motivate us to seek more recognition and respect. It favors reasonable endeavors in various areas of life, including legal, educational, religious, financial, and cultural matters. At this time, we attract luck and rich life experiences through patience, a strong self-image and feelings of self-worth, building and strengthening efforts, and focusing on comfort, stability, and longevity.
The day’s energies are further boosted by creative aspects. We’re willing to challenge ourselves and gravitate toward plans and strategies to achieve our desires. Our inner wisdom, sixth sense, and intuition are heightened, allowing us to better understand our surroundings. This is a time when previously hidden or unacknowledged talents may emerge, inspiring us and boosting our confidence.
The Moon is void from 5:09 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (an opposition to Neptune), until the Moon enters Libra at 6:23 AM EDT.

Moon Signs This Week:
When the Moon is in Cancer
The restlessness of the Gemini Moon gives way to an instinctive need for peace and quiet. A feeling of belonging and safety is what motivates us under this influence. The Moon feels right at home in the sign of Cancer, as it rules the sign. This Moon position has much healing potential. Although insular by nature, our feelings run deep, making it an ideal time to get in touch with what motivates us.
The Moon in Cancer generally favors the following activities: Domestic activities, those that involve awareness of personal needs. Home decor, family get-togethers.
When the Moon is in Leo
The Moon in Leo speaks to our "inner child". It's a warm, generous, whole-heartedly loving position. Pride keeps us from pettiness, but it can also prevent us from opening up and revealing how we are truly feeling. We are on stage, our feelings are grand, and we appreciate some drama in our lives. We are easily threatened by anything that seems to be impersonal. This is a time when we seek attention--when we want to stand out for our special qualities. It's a strong time for romance and any creative activity as well.
The Moon in Leo generally favors the following activities: Creative activities, activities involving children, generous undertakings, undertakings in which personal recognition is desired, and risk-taking.
When the Moon is in Virgo
We instinctually gravitate towards practical activities under the influence of a Virgo Moon. In an urge to set things right, we might easily find ourselves re-organizing and rethinking plans. Emotional satisfaction comes from solving problems, making order out of confusion, and helping others. Health matters might come into focus. We notice the smaller parts that make up the whole, and instead of letting nagging details bother us, we might work on ironing them out so that we can feel more confident moving ahead.
The Moon in Virgo generally favors the following activities: Mental pursuits, work activities, services, and routines. Activities that would benefit from tending to details.
When the Moon is in Libra
Creating order is the focus, not necessarily through tidying or organizing as was the case while the Moon was in Virgo, but rather through pleasing interactions with others and aesthetics in our environment. We tend to solve problems through diplomacy, and we are more able to put aside our own emotions in order to achieve the peace we crave. The tendency now is to avoid direct confrontations. Decisions do not come easily. Seeing both sides to any given situation is the main reason for hesitation. Fear of losing others' approval is another.
The Moon in Libra generally favors the following activities: Relationship and partnership issues, activities involving teamwork and cooperation, activities that involve self-examination, activities related to beauty.
Upcoming Weeks: Calendars
THIS WEEK’S PLANETARY POSITIONS BY SIGN (General Trends):
Sun in Taurus The cycle now dawning in your life emphasizes stability, substance, practicality, and the concept of value – value in the material as well as psycho-spiritual sense. This marks a time of building to last, of appreciating the substantial rather than ephemeral. Consolidating past gains rather than focusing on radical new departures is likely to be a major theme for you during this cycle. Appreciating the finer things of life is another hallmark of this phase, which marks a time when you should be concentrating on “smelling the roses” rather than passing them by in such a hurry.
Mercury in Aries New ideas and an independent or pioneering mental orientation take on more importance in your life at this time. Teaching, learning, communicating, and social contact have a way of outlining new directions in your life now, and there is much activity and involvement with these kinds of issues.
Mercury in Taurus “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” – that’s the key to the way you think at a time like this. Practical, utilitarian ideas are the ones that make the most sense now – putting them to good use is a focus for you. Material things are foremost on your mind in many respects: an emphasis on the real rather than the ideal.
Mars in Aries Fresh challenges and initiatives light your fires now, as a new cycle begins in your life – lots of energy, a powerful urge to be first or come out on top. Away with the old and on to the new – let no one and nothing stand between you and your objective! Headstrong impulses and rash courage can take you far … sometimes in harm’s way, if you’re not careful.
Jupiter in Taurus A kind of Midas touch is signaled by the new cycle now dawning in your life. Prosperity and security take center stage in your thoughts; a gentle but committed conservatism brings you all kinds of good things. Take care of the material things, and the spiritual will take care of itself: that’s your orientation now.
Saturn in Pisces Making peace with the past, coming to terms with karmic debts: these are some of the issues that confront you as a new phase begins in your life. Failure to face these things can cause setbacks and put obstacles in your path. Learn to look beyond the narrowly personal and selfish or you’ll get in over your head.
Uranus in Taurus Practicality and ingenuity combine as powerful drives in your life now that you have begun a new cycle. Taking innovative concepts and making them real and practical is your strong suit; getting stuck in the mud is to be avoided at all costs. Financial savvy, inventiveness, worldly genius.
Neptune in Pisces Things spiritual and psychic take the driver’s seat of your imagination as you begin a new cycle. The fine arts and all manner of fantasies assume a larger-than-life importance. Surrendering to fate, karma, and other powers greater than merely mortal may be seen as the ultimate liberation. If all is Maya (illusion), what is the reality that gives rise to the world of appearances?
Pluto in Aquarius Reform, revolution, a rejection of the past and a focus on the future: these are the signatures of the new phase now beginning in your life. Tradition becomes irrelevant, and the conventional wisdom is revealed as dogma or outright nonsense – and what’s the difference, really? Radical changes in all things social and intellectual.

The FULL MOON occurs on Thursday, May 23rd, 2024, at 9:53 AM EDT.
On Thursday morning, a Full Moon occurs when the Sun in Gemini forms an opposition to the Moon in Sagittarius. The Full Moon is a time of culmination and the promise of fulfillment of that which was started at the New Moon. It is an emotional time – a time of romance, fertilization, and relationships.
We become more fully aware of what has been lacking or missing in our lives, particularly related to learning, adventure, spirited living, communicating, sharing, and commuting.
The Gemini-Sagittarius polarity is a mental axis, where Gemini represents the “lower mind” and Sagittarius represents the “higher mind.” The Gemini Sun encourages us to think logically, while the Sagittarius Moon persuades us to intuit and to think in a broader manner. Sagittarius symbolizes the quest for meaning and ideas that expand upon the “here and now.” Gemini is quite comfortable in its immediate environment or neighborhood, while Sagittarius stimulates us to venture beyond it.
Neglecting either end of the axis will surely backfire on us. Ideally, a balance should be found between the two energies, and this is what the Full Moon invites us to do.
This Full Moon is about communication, attitude, and sense of adventure. Something has been building inside of us, and now is the time when the energy of the cosmos fairly demands that we let it out. Over the next two weeks, we will discover what this means for us. For now, we can’t sit on our feelings–we need to express them.
The lunation illuminates this conflict between logic and intuition/faith. With the Moon full and bright in the sky, symbolic “illumination” occurs in our own lives. However, these new feelings and revelations are emotional ones, as there is a sense of emotions bursting forth into our consciousness. It’s time to express ourselves and to let things out of our systems.
Of course, we might want to exercise some care while doing so, knowing that what is coming out of us is fresh, unrefined, and not particularly rational as yet.
This Full Moon harmonizes with Neptune and Pluto, and the Sun and Venus have just recently aligned with Jupiter, bringing a sense of good luck and will along with some inspiration and determination to see things through.
The chart:
This phase of the Moon occurs at 2 degrees and 55 minutes of Sagittarius opposite the Sun at the same degree of Gemini, and affecting people with personal planets and points at 29 to 30 degrees of the Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius) and 0 to 7 degrees of the Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces) most significantly.
The following is a chart of this Full Moon with some additional points:

This week: The Sun is in Taurus until the 20th, when the Sun is in Gemini; Mercury is in Taurus; Venus is in Taurus until the 23rd, when Venus enters Gemini; Mars is in Aries.
The Sun is in Gemini from May 20-June 20. Knowledge and diversity motivate us with the Sun in Gemini. We are more sociable, intellectual, and insatiably curious under this influence. We tend to scatter our energies due to this curiosity and awareness of all of our options. We are more communicative and versatile, but we can also be unreliable.
Gemini represents duality and mediation. Gemini’s energy is intelligent, optimistic, observant, and adaptable. It’s skeptical, ready to consider alternate ways of thinking. We’re prepared to trade, share, exchange, pass on news, teach, guide, and learn.
We gather information during the Sun-in-Gemini cycle, and we benefit from this transit’s objectivity. We’re quick-witted, cheerful, engaging, and we easily adapt, observe, and listen–it’s a clever and crafty influence.
On the downside, we can be gossipy, overly intellectual, or too rational when a softer touch would be more appropriate. As we relay and process information, we could be living too much in our heads, disconnected from what’s in our hearts.
Venus is in Gemini from May 23-June 17. With Venus in Gemini, we have a finger in every pie. Curiosity motivates us on romantic and social levels. “Variety is the spice of life” is the motto now. We are friendly, communicative, charming, and interested.
While it’s a time when we can be animated and fun, we may also keep our distance on an emotional level. Attractions often begin with words, as we tend to bond more readily on a mental level while Venus is in Gemini. We’re most attracted to mentally interesting people. Sometimes, our curiosity leads us into relationships that we might not form otherwise. The shadow side of Gemini is fickleness or disinterest in profundity.
Venus in Gemini is flirtatious, captivating, and adaptable. We ask questions and want to keep things light and lively. During this transit, we do best when we’re mentally engaged and our desire for variety is addressed. Social stimulation is appealing. Good fortune with transportation and communication can figure strongly.
Jupiter is in Taurus until the 25th, when it enters Gemini.
Venus is in Gemini from May 23-June 17. In Gemini, Venus is communicative, sociable but emotionally aloof, insatiably curious, and a little bit flighty. Fickleness with our affections is a strong possibility, but the desire for a meeting of minds is strong and the urge to socialize dominates. Some detachment from our emotions is likely, which may be a breath of fresh air for some. The lines of communication open, although we may only scratch the surface of things. Under this influence, love is playful and lighthearted. Fickleness is the shadow side of Venus in Gemini.
This week: On Sunday, we’re ready to explore, experiment, and change things up. We want to move forward fearlessly into the future.
On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, our feelings expand. Our passions are stirred and intense, but we’re generous with one another, ready to give each other the benefit of the doubt. We have large appetites for love and pleasure. There may be some overstating or overindulgence now, however. Still, we are inclined to see the good in people and situations.
On Friday and Saturday, we seek a deep love in which we can merge souls and personalities. We are quite devoted to our partners, and we seek such devotion in return. A Venus-Pluto trine supports intimacy, understanding, and depth in our connections. This is a strong week for relationships.
Venus semi-square Mars May 28-29. Tensions in relationships. Attempting to satisfy romantic needs and assertive/sexual needs simultaneously can be challenging.
Venus semi-square Chiron May 28-29. Love cannot be forced. This is not a commitment-friendly transit, as we may feel alienated for no apparent reason and unwilling to give of ourselves.
Void-of-course Moon on Sunday, May 19th, from 11:49 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (an opposition to Mars), until the Moon enters Scorpio the next day, Monday, May 20th, at 6:34 PM EDT.
VOC Moon on Thursday, May 23rd, from 3:28 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Neptune), until the Moon enters Sagittarius at 4:24 AM EDT.
VOC Moon on Saturday, May 25th, from 10:47 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a square to Neptune), until the Moon enters Capricorn at 11:36 AM EDT.

The Moon is waxing this week until the Full Moon on the 23rd, which is generally considered favorable for new beginnings, with exceptions. (See Best Time to Start a Business for more details). From the Full Moon on the 23rd forward, the Moon is waning.
According to principles of timing with the Moon, a window of opportunity occurs from

MAY 19
Today’s Sun-Neptune sextile adds a sensitive and spiritual dimension to the day’s energies. This influence helps us tune into our imaginations, enhancing our instinctual judgment. We see things from a perspective that celebrates our differences, taking things as they come and finding meaning in our experiences more readily than usual. This transit sets an excellent mood for respecting our intuition, leaving us tuned in, inspired, and charitable. What feels like fate may have to do with a good sense of timing and a feeling of being in sync with the universe. Emotional or mental refreshment helps us gain perspective. But while this aspect favors going with the flow, we’re prepared to challenge ourselves or step out of our comfort zones if it means we’re growing, improving, and moving forward. As Mars aligns with the Moon’s North Node later today, it can move us to pursue our goals or connect with someone, sparking a sense of motivation and inspiration.
The Moon is void from 11:49 AM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (an opposition to Mars), until the Moon enters Scorpio the next day, Monday, May 20th, at 6:34 PM EDT.
MAY 20
The Sun moves into the sign of Gemini today, where it will transit until June 20th. Knowledge and diversity motivate us with the Sun in Gemini for the coming month. We are more sociable, intellectual, and curious under this influence. Because we’re so curious and aware of all our options, it’s easy to scatter our energies. We are more communicative and versatile, although we can also be unreliable during this cycle. We’re prepared to trade, share, exchange, pass on news, teach, guide, and learn. Gathering information is in the spotlight during the Sun-in-Gemini cycle, and we benefit from this transit’s objectivity. However, it may be difficult to get our message across effectively in spots today with Jupiter opposite Pallas. Temporarily, we may not have the interest or attention to detail nor the discipline to back up our plans or ideas. The Moon continues its transit of Libra until 6:34 PM EDT when it moves into Scorpio. The Libra Moon inclines us to focus on equality and fairness or balance, while the Moon in Scorpio draws us to transformative and emotionally exciting experiences. We’re interested in discovering deeper truths and motives.
The Moon continues its void period until 6:34 PM EDT, when it enters Scorpio.

Moon Signs This Week:
When the Moon is in Scorpio
Intensity is what the Moon in Scorpio is all about. Whether it's passion, elation, sorrow, or desire, emotions are felt on a deeply personal level. We are motivated by the desire to get to the bottom of things, and we instinctively read between the lines. Superficiality won't work for us now. The Moon in Scorpio urges us to uncover our own power, and it's an excellent time to rid ourselves of old fears and limiting habits. It can be an intimate and passionate time. Avoid manipulative tactics, brooding, and suspiciousness.
The Moon in Scorpio generally favors the following activities: Taxes, accounting, intimacy issues, psychological examinations, research, self-examination, getting rid of old things.
When the Moon is in Sagittarius
The Moon is at her most optimistic and upbeat in Sagittarius. We are motivated by a need to seek the truth, and we are ready to pursue a new vision. We are not interested in details just now. Instead, we focus on the big picture. New experiences and adventures satisfy a deep emotional need. Spontaneity is the key. We may also be inclined toward overdoing and overstating. We don't want to plan ahead, and prefer to "wing it".
The Moon in Sagittarius generally favors the following activities: Adventurous activities that involve "winging it", travel, higher education, starting publishing projects, advertising, sports, physical activity.
When the Moon is in Capricorn
We become aware of the need for structure and planning ahead. We also instinctively are aware of the limitations of time. We are motivated by a desire for success. Achievement and manifestation are most important to us now. We are resourceful and don't want to waste time, energy, or resources. This can be a very sober influence--even a depressing one. However, it can also be a productive time when we look reality in the eye.
The Moon in Capricorn generally favors the following activities: Long-term activities that yield slow but steady results, practical undertakings, career issues, making a business plan, practical investments.
Sun in Gemini The cycle which begins for you now will be marked by a more intense focus on mental and communicative activity than you may ever have experienced before. It’s a time of more involvement with other people, a time for gathering information, and a time when you’re apt to be more on the go than ever. There is likely to be an emphasis on reading, writing, studying, and all forms of exchanging information with others in the years ahead – and it will all serve as a path for self-discovery and personal development.
Venus in Gemini Saying (or writing) it with style comes natural now. A yen for variety is a hallmark of this phase, and this especially applies to romantic experience and artistic tastes. (The latter tends to focus on literature in general and poetry in particular.) A sociable, congenial, slightly frivolous orientation sets in.
Jupiter in Gemini Facilitating the transfer of ideas and information takes on a special priority for you now. Writing, studying, and communicating play a bigger role in your life as a result. The belief that well-informed people will make the right decisions becomes an article of faith. Just remember: sometimes people know the right thing to do and STILL do something different!
