Overview for this Month: Taurus (All)

August 2015

There is an unusually strong focus on your sector of home and family this month, dear Taurus, as well as the end of the year-long transit of Jupiter to this sector. The focus can be on any or many of the solar fourth house affairs, including personal plans, home life, domestic affairs, family relationships, roots, heritage, parents and parenting, and psychological foundations. Retrograde Venus is transiting this sector all month, prompting you to reassess comfort and satisfaction levels with these things, and there can be a big emphasis on the past. Particularly mid-month, watch for a cool, indifferent, or even insensitive manner with family, which can happen without intention. Impulsiveness in romantic affairs and/or with family is possible on the 14-15. Especially around the 19-20, you might be meeting up with people from your past. Many of you enjoyed improvements and/or expansions to your home or family life with Jupiter transiting here since July 2014. Even so, you may have had to make a few sacrifices in order to make everyone happy, so that Jupiter's transit of your sector of recreation, romance, and creative expression from the 11th can be a nice, refreshing change. This transit will last over a year, and can bring some solid opportunities to enjoy and express yourself. This is only the beginning of this fortunate transit, and with your ruler, Venus, retrograde all month, you may not be feeling it very much in August. If not, the Solar Eclipse in mid-September will get the ball rolling. Saturn turns direct this month and is completing its transit of your partnership zone also in mid-September. Until then, you'll feel far better equipped to deal with close relationships, whether you need to make or end a commitment, recommit, or put the past behind you. If you can manage a get-away or break at the end of August, it can be a good time for it.

Until August 23rd:

The Sun continues to put a spotlight on your solar fourth house. This is a period of recharge, of getting in touch with your innermost feelings, of connecting with your roots, and of spending more time and energy on home and family. Home and family matters capture your attention and are a strong source of pride now. It's a time when worldly matters are not as important to you. Use this energy to find ways to improve your family relations and your home environment. During this heart-warming cycle, you would do best to allow yourself to explore your inner needs so that you can nurture yourself and others in a healthy, growth-oriented manner, in preparation for more outgoing times to come.

From August 23rd forward:The Sun illuminates your solar fifth house now. After a period of "nesting", you are coming out of your shell, ready to perform and to express yourself creatively. This is a very playful period of the year, when you are inspired creatively and emotionally. After a period of self-protectiveness, you are now more spontaneous and more willing to take risks. You take more pride than usual in your creations, your love affairs, your children, and your hobbies. Pleasure and amusement play an important role in your search for freedom of self-expression now. Show off your best colors! You want others to take notice, and you are more sensitive to whether people appreciate you. More than any time of the year, this is the cycle in which you focus on having fun, enjoying romance, and expressing yourself creatively. Your hobbies, leisure time, moments spent with children, gaming time, and so forth, all come into focus at this time of year. This is a cycle in which you find joy in expressing who you are--when your "inner child" comes out to play. This is a time when you are more flirtatious than usual, and when you might take a few risks in life--not only gambling with games but with life itself. You might be a bit of a showman at this time. You are likely feeling good in general, and you tend to spread the joy.

Venus this Month: Love, Romance, Social Life, Comfort

Venus is retrograde from July 25th to September 6th

Venus retrograde in general: As the planet of love and values, Venus retrograde periods are periods during which we re-assess what--and who--we value. It is a period that most astrologers consider inopportune for getting married or starting a new relationship. Major financial undertakings are not advised during this period as well. Venus retrograde cycles are good times for creating budgets and financial plans, and for re-thinking our personal relationships. Old friends and lovers may re-appear, perhaps complicating current relationships. We are called upon to deal with relationship issues from the past. Events occur that seem fated or pre-destined. It can be a real challenge getting close to a lover during this period of time. Unorthodox, experimental, and non-intimate relationships may be favored. Relationships that have been especially challenging may come to an end during this cycle. However, strong relationships will survive it, even if there are a few bumps and bruises along the way. For singles, this is a good time for "eyes wide open" or experimental dating. It is not a time when people recognize the need for another person to complete them, or some people may be questioning whether they are with partners who actually fulfill them. This period is good for re-evaluating our relationship needs; but, again, major love decisions are best saved for after the cycle ends.

This Venus Retrograde cycle occurs for the most part in your fourth house of home and family. Relations with your family may be a little strained. You might want to wait until Venus is direct before you express your frustrations with family members! What you say now may be costly. Furthermore, if you take the time to think about things, your approach to dealing with these issues later (in September and October) is likely to be much more productive. The desire or need for warm relations with family members, or for support and a feeling of security, is especially strong but the path to satisfaction may be hard to find just now. This is a great time to think about how to improve your home, but not necessarily for going forward with entirely new projects.

With Venus as your ruler, you are especially sensitive to all of the Venus Retrograde issues described above. Venus also rules your work and health sector, and the desire for satisfaction and warm relations on the job is likely strong now, but hard to get. This is an excellent period for reworking your finances. Take your time when it comes to major decision making.

Mercury this Month: Communications, Learning, Connections, Transportation

Until August 7th:

Mercury continues to transit your solar fourth house. Your thoughts tend to revolve around personal matters, especially family, home, and domestic issues. You enjoy, more than usual, discussions and stories about the past and about family. You are more rational and objective when it comes to your relationships with those close to you, so it is, in fact, a good time to open up discussions with family. There can be increased activities in and around the home during this cycle. You are not as interested in worldly matters and career as you are in your personal life for the time being.

From August 7-27:

Mercury transits your solar fifth house. During this cycle, there is a powerful mental connection with your creative self-expression. You are proud of your ideas, and very good at expressing them to others smoothly now. Your thinking is more creative than usual. You tend to entertain others with your conversation; and your sense of humor (and of mischief!) is especially strong. Your thoughts turn to children, pleasures, or romance during this expressive cycle. You might enjoy researching speculative ventures now. You especially enjoy games that involve competing with others on a mental level. You have a stronger need than usual for intellectual stimulation. Therefore, your friends and romantic partner are best appreciated now if they are intellectual types. You're more willing to take risks on a mental level now, so take advantage of the increased spontaneity and creativity that comes with this position.

From August 27th forward:

Mercury transits your solar sixth house. This is a good placement for Mercury, as it is the natural ruler of the sixth house. It's an excellent period for sorting out the details of your daily existence. You are inclined to make to-do lists, pay bills and sort out clutter, and to do detail work on the job. Health matters are most certainly on your brain as well, and you could be thinking of scheduling check-ups or busy researching ways to improve your health. You may also show a keener interest in improving your basic skills. Your approach to work during this cycle is pleasant, happy, and logical for the most part, unless you allow worry or scattered energy to enter the picture. You are inclined to want to learn new work skills, or to improve your skills and output in terms of work. There is likely to be more activity, movement, contact, and communications with co-workers now. You tend to take more interest in organizing your working environment--and this is an excellent time to do so, as you are especially objective and intelligent when it comes to getting a handle on your daily affairs and all of the "little things" that contribute to a feeling of efficiency and competency. Menial tasks become more prominent. Watch, however, for tension or idle chit-chat interfering with your work output during this cycle.

Mars this Month: Energy, Drive, Courage

Until August 8th:

Mars continues to activate and energize your solar third house now. You may be especially busy running errands and tending to daily activities during this cycle. It's a strong time for putting your energy into intellectual projects or studies. You tend to communicate in a more direct manner now, and you might want to be careful that you don't come across as insensitive or abrasive. You may find it too easy to become impatient with others if they seem to be taking up too much of your time, such as with other drivers or with people who are not speaking as directly as you are. Channel your extra energy into mental tasks so that this transit can be highly stimulating (instead of stressful).

From August 8th forward:

Mars activates and energizes your solar fourth house. You have more energy at your disposal for domestic projects or activities. Because your actions are governed by your instincts during this period, you may be especially defensive and protective. You may work hard at making yourself feel more secure, and you may be called upon to take charge on the home and family front. You may have more energy to invest in homemaking, house repairs, re-decorating, or family activities. In fact, if you are feeling very restless, moody, or defensive during this period, it would be a good idea to do any of these things! You may have an increased desire to rule the roost, and if this transit stimulates conflict or disputes, it is likely to be family-related--you may have arguments with them, about them, or on their behalf. You may also encounter opposition from career-related matters or people. You may get worked up about old angers or regarding emotional issues from the past that are resurfacing now.

Overview Horoscope:

There is a tremendous influence on your solar fifth house this month, dear Aries. Any of the affairs of this zone of your chart can be in strong focus as a result, including recreation, hobbies, children, romance, dating, pleasure, creative endeavors, creative self-expression, leisure time, and fulfillment through play. These may not always be smooth areas with retrograde Venus influencing this area of your chart all month, but certainly there are opportunities to improve, grow, and make important changes. Saturn turns direct this month and is on the last leg of its journey through your intimacy sector. It's important to handle errant money matters or relationship issues now so that you'll feel freer moving forward. In mid-September, Saturn moves into harmony with your sign, helping to support and protect you. Jupiter spends about a year in a sign before moving into the next one, and a sign changes occurs this month on the 11th, beginning a year-long transit of your work, health, and services sector. Work tends to be very available to you during this cycle, and possibly too available at times, so that you may have to choose between alternatives or you could take on too much. Overall, however, work is more rewarding and fulfilling. As well, health is likely to improve in the year ahead, and you might especially enjoy helping and supporting others, who often turn to you for advice. There can be a stronger interest in nutrition, cleaner living, yoga, and fitness. Playing a supportive role can be draining if taken to an extreme, but if you draw your boundaries and don't overdo it, it can contribute to a stronger feeling of being needed. This Jupiter transit is set to kick in more strongly in September after a solar eclipse in the same sector, but you might begin to feel its effects, particularly with the Sun's move into your work and health sector on the 23rd. The last week of the month can be work-intensive, but can also pull up the need to balance your rest-play cycle.
