ErosScopes: December 2009 & January 2010 Love Horoscopes for Libra to Pisces

Horoscopes for the month ahead, with a focus on love, sex, romance, and style.
Eros was the god of erotic love. The position of the asteroid Eros in our charts points to our passion and erotic turn-ons. Mars shows us the style in which we go after what we want, including the ways in which we express our sexuality. Venus shows us some of the important “trappings” and foreplay that help us get in the mood for sex. The Moon shows our underlying emotional needs that can express themselves as sexual fantasies and needs.
While the positions of these planets and cosmic bodies in our natal charts remain static, their positions are always changing in the cosmos, activating houses and hotspots in our natal charts. The horoscopes presented here are necessarily general, as we are focusing on only the Sun sign or Ascendant, and how these sexual cosmic bodies are currently affecting the natal chart.
Please note: These horoscopes are more accurate for the Ascendant sign, so if you know it, read them for the sign of your Ascendant first, and the sign of your Sun second.
Also, sometimes I have more to say for some signs, simply because more astrological activity is taking place that is related to relationships for that sign this month (or because I am digressing!). This does not mean I am biased towards any particular sign.
December 2009 & January 2010 ErosScopes – Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces
Libra
Dear Libra, love is more intellectual for you than anything until December 25th, as you focus more on what is said or written. Words seduce during this period, while Venus is in outgoing and adventurous Sagittarius–a sign that is connected to your solar third house of communications and your immediate environment and neighborhood. Love is more likely to be found in these areas–even in your neighborhood for some of you. With the Sun highlighting this part of your chart as well (until the 21st), if your partner or lover is not communicating, it’s bound to drive you a little crazy. From December 25th, Venus moves into earthy and practical Capricorn and your solar fourth house of home and family until January 18th. Security, warmth, and intimacy are what you seek during this cycle. Considerably more outgoing and playful, the Venus in Aquarius cycle that begins on January 18th falls in your solar fifth house of romance and recreation. That’s when you are quite naturally turning on the charm and appreciated for your romantic style. Mars is hanging out in the same sign of Leo until June, and begins his retrograde period on December 20th (until March 10, 2010). Since Mars has a strong bearing on your partnerships and close personal relationships, as the ruler of your solar seventh house, you might experience the retrograde of Mars through your partner. Frustrations from and about a partner could surface during this cycle. Enthusiasm for a partnership, or coming from a partner, could be waning or not as clear. A partner could seem to be less straightforward or hard to reach. Partnering projects, initiatives, or negotiations, could stall, or you could find that you are less confident about expressing yourself in a one-to-one manner. A lover or yourself may behave especially intensely or even obsessively, particularly after January 8th. Anxiety or confusion may begin to dominate. You might feel less confident or you could simply feel more cautious now. Watch for pent-up anger and passive-aggressiveness in partnerships. This period of time is best used as a period of review, backtracking, and refocusing. Changes need to be made when it comes to your partnerships, and this is an excellent period, if forced upon you, for finding ways to improve. Changes likely have to do with friendships and shared visions, ideals, and goals. Although it technically lasts from December 20-March 10, signs of the Mars retrograde cycle are present in the weeks before and after the actual retrograde. More indications that a partner may be distracted come from Mars in hard aspect to both Saturn and Pluto virtually all of December and the first few days of January. However, single Librans might enjoy a renewed and refreshed romance in December and the latter part of January with Uranus turning direct on December 1st, a lover or crush may be taking more interest in you; and from January 18th, Venus in your romance sector helps you to attract who and what you want. Many of you are more serious these days, and you might find that you benefit from more attention to practical matters as well as re-organization of important structures in your life. Venus loosening things up in the second half of January can really help draw more entertaining moments into your life. Mercury’s retrograde occurs from December 26th to January 15th, and it’s a time to avoid harping on what people are saying and writing, and instead to focus on what might be the true meaning behind the words. Jupiter again aligns with Neptune this month, and some of the themes you encountered in May can recur. You may be putting too much faith in love matters–that is, unrealistic, inhuman, or misplaced faith in lovers. Try not to be too starry-eyed about romance or you could be setting yourself up for disappointment. You could also be expecting, quite unwittingly, far too much from mere mortals! Some of you will find you are attracting Sagittarius and Pisces lovers into your life. The Full Moon Lunar Eclipse on the very last day of the year 2009 occurs right at the top of your chart, bringing your professional life into sudden focus. The New Moon Solar Eclipse on January 15th, 2010, prompts new beginnings with home and family. Better days for love are December 16-17, 20-21, and January 10-15, 20-21. More challenging days for love are likely to be December 19, 27-29, 31 and January 1, and 25-27.
Scorpio
Dear Scorpio, just because Venus has left your sign doesn’t mean you’re not having any fun. Uranus, a planet that has been occupying your romance sector for many years, is now moving forward again after a period of retrograde. Last month, the ruler of your romance sector, Neptune, began to move forward; and in December, lucky and expansive Jupiter aligns with Neptune. Even Eros, the god of erotic love, is chugging forward in your romance sector after a backwards trek. So, romantic matters continue to look better for you. Venus entering Capricorn on the 25th and staying there until January 18th brings a more communicative period for your love life. Still, for a good part of that time, Mercury is retrograde, so be careful not to take everything you’re told too seriously. December and January bring two eclipses as well as a retrograde Mars that don’t affect your love life directly, although these influences could mean that you are especially busy, finding your career and work particularly demanding and/or frustrating. Jupiter entering dreamy Pisces on January 17th is a good sign for you. It’s somewhat similar to the Jupiter-Neptune influence that we have been experiencing much of 2009, except that it’s going to more directly expand your opportunities to find entertainment, excitement, fun, and romance in 2010. This transit will stimulate your creative urges as well as some of your procreative urges! This influence is not immediate for most of you, but there is sure to be some indication of more exciting times to come. The Solar Eclipse of January 15th brings good news, possibly of a romantic nature. At the same time, Mercury begins to move in direct motion after a retrograde period (Mercury is retrograde from December 26-January 15). The last ten days of January place a stronger emphasis on home and family–rest and relaxation may feel long overdue after a truly busy period in your life. Luckily, a partner is on the same page, preferring comfort and security to excitement. Better days for love are December 9, 11, 16-17, 20-22, and January 13-15, 21-22. More challenging days for love are likely to be December 28-29 and January 1-2, and 27.
Sagittarius
December, until the 25th, features Venus, the goddess of love, in your sign, dear Sagittarius. With the Sun also there, you can expect some positive attention and feedback. Two retrogrades begin this month, however, that directly affect you on a romantic level. First, Mars turns retrograde on December 20th, although changes are in the air in the weeks preceding this date. Mars is your romance sector and sitting in your solar ninth house, in positive aspect to you. In fact, when Venus in Sagittarius forms a harmonious angle to Mars on the 16-17, you’re probably going to enjoy special personal magnetism and something quite pleasing on a social or romantic level. However, the retrograde period, which lasts until mid-March, is bound to involve some cooling down of affections, at least on the surface of things. Perhaps a lover is (or you are) reconsidering your relationship, or trying to find ways to make it work better. For some of you, creative projects or children are involved in this slowdown instead of (or in addition to) romance. Perhaps demands on you are great and you are having a hard time keeping up with them. Something happens that has you questioning the enthusiasm you’ve had that carried you to date. It’s a good time to figure out what it is that you have been doing in “auto pilot”, how you have been asserting your needs and desires, and how you have been dealing with anger. This is not expected to be as difficult as it might seem for you, mainly because the retrograde of Mars is in harmony with your sign. In fact, you might benefit from a reprieve from a quick pace. Nevertheless, Mars is challenged by Saturn and Pluto for virtually all of December and into the first few days of January, suggesting that a lover or love relationship may feel blocked or “unlucky”. On December 26th, Mercury is also changing direction, turning retrograde until mid-January. Because Mercury rules your partnership sector, relationship matters are up for review. Eclipses at the end of December and in the middle of January bring some surprises and re-shuffling of finances. You’re likely to have strong support from family, or you simply might find that you feel refreshed and enlightened while relaxing at home and soaking up simple vibes. More harmonious days for love are likely to be December 9, 15-17, and 20, and January 19; while December 8, 10, 21, 28, and 31, and January 1-3, 7-9, 14 are expected to be a little more challenging.
Capricorn
Venus, the goddess of love, enters your sign on Christmas day, dear Capricorn. Before that, love is likely to be on the private, quiet, possibly even lonely, side as you naturally withdraw a little and review your connections to others. From December 25th, others start to really take notice. Your manner is more gracious, likable, and approachable. Now, there is a slight complication in the mix, and that is Mercury turning retrograde in your sign just the day after, December 26th. The way this combination plays out in your life depends greatly on how you handle it. You may find that others are liking you from a distance, for example, but there is a part of you that is hard to read or understand. It could also mean that you are more prone to saying the wrong things, or simply that you’re frustrated by things like mechanical breakdowns and delayed or canceled engagements. Those who know you well will not be deeply miffed by any of it, but if you’re single and hoping to get close to someone, you should be aware that Mercury’s retrograde in your sign could cast a veil over matters, or complicate the mechanics of getting together. Those of you in a couple could find a surprise or drama coming from your partner around the Lunar Eclipse on the 31st of December or in the week right after. Mars retrograde from December 20-March 15 in your intimacy sector suggests that on some level, your enthusiasm for intimate and sharing matters may wane, perhaps due to some problems, complications, or setbacks in these areas of life. Joint financial projects or initiatives may stall, or you could find that you are less confident about expressing yourself in personal ways. A lover or yourself may behave in an especially intense or obsessive manner. Refocus, backtracking, and review become necessary and recommended now. On January 15th, Mercury turns direct again AND a Solar Eclipse occurs in your sign. This suggests some kind of new beginning for you on a personal level. While it’s unlikely to occur directly on that date, the weeks following it are stellar for you and your personal magnetism and influence. This Solar Eclipse is aligned quite tightly with attractive Venus, and is supported also by electric Uranus. It signals a period of strength for you–and remember that the effects of a Solar Eclipse last for up to 6 months. Let’s face it. With your ruler, Saturn, square Pluto, changes are taking place on a deep level for you. Better days for love are December 9, 14, 16-17, and 19, and January13-15 and 21-24. More challenging days for love are likely on December 5, and 27-29, and January 1 and 25.
Aquarius
Last month, dear Aquarius, we talked a bit about the upcoming Mars retrograde cycle. The official date for that cycle to begin is December 20th, and the official end of it is March 10th, 2010. However, its effects are felt in the weeks leading up to it and following it. Confusion about the motives of a close partner, dealing with passive-aggressive behavior in a relationship, or managing the dampening of enthusiasm are possibilities with Mars retrograde in your partnership sector. A partner could seem to be less straightforward or hard to reach. Enthusiasm for a partnership, or coming from a partner, could be waning or not as clear. It may be that you feel less confident about expressing yourself in a one-to-one manner. A lover or yourself may behave especially intensely or obsessively. Watch for pent-up anger and passive-aggressiveness with partnerships. It’s actually an excellent period for you to explore how you get your needs met through others, and to learn about anger management. Many planets in Capricorn in the last week of the year 2009 and the first three weeks of January 2010 suggests a focus on endings, relaxation, and spirituality. However, from the 18-20 forward, a feeling of renewal and new beginnings is with you. While partnerships may remain complicated (and possibly surprising around the Full Moon on January 30th), there is a sense that a partner is working in your best interests now. You should now benefit from all of the “mulling things over” that you’ve been doing recently. Venus, the goddess of love, in your sign from January 18th brings more likability and magnetism to your life. Note that Mercury’s retrograde, from December 26-January 15, can also point to the review of a romantic relationship. Some of you might be questioning the viability of personal relationships. Whatever the case may be, it’s not the ideal time to make major decisions, simply because clarity will not come until after the retrograde periods. Patience is what you’ll need, and in fact, it’s a good time for taking your time! Better days for love and romance are likely on December 13 and January 1, and 12-15. More challenging days for love are likely on December 14 and 19 and January 25, 29, and 31.
Pisces
You are experiencing inner revelations about your goals these days, dear Pisces. In December, support comes from behind the scenes, and when you least expect it! Much focus is on professional interests until the last week of December, when more altruistic goals are on your mind. On the 25th of December, Venus enters your solar eleventh house, and much joy can be found through friends and networking. The last day of the year features a Lunar Eclipse that occurs in your romance sector. This can bring surprises or some form of drama surrounding a romantic relationship–perhaps a revelation or admission–and it can occur within a week before the eclipse on December 31st or in weeks to come. Barriers have been coming down for you in the past few years, dear Pisces, thanks to electric Uranus traveling through your sign and urging you to express yourself with more confidence and spontaneity. With jovial Jupiter moving into your sign on January 17th (and staying there much of 2010), you’ll be enjoying a lucky streak of sorts. Your confidence and optimism will increase; and career and professional matters will soar this year, although now and until March, backtracking in your work and other frustrations may be in store. Some financial tensions are also likely. January is good for making new beneficial friendships and connections, but a few kinks will probably need to be worked out in the communications department while Mercury is retrograde from December 26-January 15. In fact, since Mercury rules the partnership sector in your solar chart, this Mercury retrograde period might signal some kinks to work out in a close relationship. It might not always seem that you are sharing the same long-term goals and visions, and treating each other as friends in addition to lovers is not always easy either. Your ideals and dreams don’t have to be the same, but rather the goal is to respect them. From January 18th, just a day after Jupiter enters your sign, Venus enters your solar twelfth sign, signaling a time of rest, introspection, and possibly endings in your romantic life. This doesn’t mean you’ll be ending a love relationship, by all means, but it points to the end of a natural social cycle–a time of looking back before you look forward when Venus enters your sign in February. Jupiter’s transit through Pisces is only just beginning. This planet of plenty will cover the entire sign of Pisces by June 6th, move forward into the next sign (Aries), and then back up to revisit the last 6-7 degrees (birthdays) of Pisces from September 2010 to January 2011. Better days for love are likely to be December 1, 9, and 20-21, and January 5. More challenging days for love and romance are December 10-11 and January 6-8.

Pisces is cut off for this month’s EroScopes
Oh I’ve been waiting and waiting for the December Taurus horoscope. Don’t leave me hanging!
Hi where is the gemini eroscope?
Hi I love ur horoscopes, when r u going to publish the rest of the horoscopes?
Is Pisces truncated?
I’m confused by the final sentence in Pisces – can anyone clarify? Is the influence for those with birthdays falling in 6-7 degrees Pisces?
Thanks again for a great blog
The best/worst days for love part was cut off–thanks for pointing me to this. I’ve updated that.
To clarify about Jupiter…Jupiter moves through the entire sign (all 30 degrees) of Pisces from January 17th to June 6th, when Jupiter enters Aries. Jupiter retrogrades later, however, and moves back into Pisces in September, revisiting the last 6 to 7 degrees of the sign Pisces, which would be 23 to 30 degrees of Pisces or roughly March 14-20 in terms of birthdays, from September 2010 to January 2011.
Every Pisces will experience a Jupiter transit conjunct their Sun in 2010, and those born March 14-20 will experience the transit for an extended period.
