ErosScopes: August 2009 Love Horoscopes – Aries to Virgo

Horoscopes for the month ahead, with a focus on love, sex, romance, and style.
Eros was the god of erotic love. The position of the asteroid Eros in our charts points to our passion and erotic turn-ons. Mars shows us the style in which we go after what we want, including the ways in which we express our sexuality. Venus shows us some of the important “trappings” and foreplay that help us get in the mood for sex. The Moon shows our underlying emotional needs that can express themselves as sexual fantasies and needs.
While the positions of these planets and cosmic bodies in our natal charts remain static, their positions are always changing in the cosmos, activating houses and hotspots in our natal charts. The horoscopes presented here are necessarily general, as we are focusing on only the Sun sign or Ascendant, and how these sexual cosmic bodies are currently affecting the natal chart.
Please note: These horoscopes are more accurate for the Ascendant sign, so if you know it, read them for the sign of your Ascendant first, and the sign of your Sun second.

Aries
Eclipses occurring last month have impacted you on a deeply personal level, perhaps rocking your inner foundations and leaving you craving a more stable, secure lifestyle. Some of you have ended a relationship that once gave you a sense of security, and are now facing the need to recover and rebuild. Others have faced big changes in their family life. Whatever the case may be, the need to redefine what (or who) it is that makes you feel supported is part of the picture. On many levels, you are raring to go. You are feeling more confident, spirited, and expressive. However, your heart is a little bit behind you, as hearts often do take more time to move forward than the rest of us. You’re likely still thinking about the past even while you are charging ahead. This is a good, and necessary, thing. Some of you will be dating, but keeping your heart in a safe place nevertheless. Venus moves out of your self-protective fourth house on the 26th, after which you’re feeling more confident about socializing and romance. The 25-27 can be a tricky time emotionally, however. Venus, Mercury, and Mars are changing signs, Venus is highlighting the recent Solar Eclipse degree and joining with the South Node of the Moon, and Mars, your ruler, opposes Pluto. Some of the themes you’ve dealt with last month resurface and remind you of the past. You’re still getting over the hump, so take it easy. The Lunar Eclipse on the 5th brings awareness of your need for friends and acquaintances, or their need for you. It’s a theme that has been strong all year. It can also bring awareness of your own need to stand out independently and to be accepted for who you are.
Taurus
Venus, the goddess of love, is now in the sign of Cancer, and stays there until the 26th. Cancer is an energy that you understand quite readily, and its differences from your own nature are more stimulating for you than unsettling. This provides you with a sense of ease on a romantic level. Another strong sign for love for you this month, dear Taurus, is Mercury, the ruler of your romance sector, traveling through this very sector from the 2-25. Although you might find that you’re more impulsive than usual when it comes to love, you are also fully enjoying yourself. It’s not an especially commitment-friendly month for you, as you prefer to live it feeling free and light of baggage. Your determination to keep things light, equal, and free of drama might not please someone who prefers more intensity and exclusivity. The 25-27 is bound to be emotionally intense, however, with unresolved matters from the past resurfacing, and a partner is likely involved. In the days surrounding the Lunar Eclipse on the 5th, changes on the career front or with your status can feel unsettling at first, but eventually you’ll see they lead to improvement. The 16-17 can bring an important reminder of a commitment.
Gemini
Until the 25th, Mars continues to move through your sign, keeping you on your toes, focused on getting exactly what you want from life. Knowing what it is that you want will certainly help you out! With Venus now out of your sign, however, the charm that came along with Mars’ position last month has left, so you will have to take some care when you assert your (considerable) desires and remind everyone of your independence! Others are following your lead, and you’ll find friends especially supportive and interested. This might be a restless month for you, dear Gemini, if you don’t find things to do that keep you stimulated. The need for more from life than just the four walls around you, or even the street you live on, is likely to grab hold. Fortunately, you’ll have opportunities to expand your horizons. Love is mostly stable, and your expectations are not as high. Your love life is less dramatic than it was in July, although certainly far from stagnant. The best days for love occur on the 14-16, while the 25-27 is likely rocky. It’s best not to make any major decisions then, as the tendency to leap before looking runs very high. You’ll find that many people are excitable at that time.
Cancer
Venus has just entered your sign (on the last day of July), dear Cancer, and your ability to attract others to you by sheer personality and the power of first impressions skyrockets. Your charm lies in the gentle side of your nature, which is called to the fore now and attracting attention. Mars in your privacy sector (until the 25th) and Eros retrograde in trine to your Sun both reinforce this. Venus leaves your sign just when Mars enters it, on the 26-27, and things shift considerably! Your approach to the world, and to going after what pleases you, shifts from a receptive to active one. Around the same time, Mars in your sign opposes Pluto, and a number of other shifts are occurring that point to unrest, impulsiveness, and cantankerousness. The 25-27 is not a good period for scheduling anything important, and it’s especially unfavorable for negotiations with a partner or lover. Pay attention to what a partner has to say on the 17-18. Eclipses in July were intensely personal for you. Questions about partnerships and personal goals were pulled up in dramatic ways for many of you. A “fish out of water†feeling was with you. This month, financial matters draw your attention. A lunar eclipse on the 5th can bring shared finances to the fore, but it can also pull up issues surrounding intimacy and sharing with a partner.
Leo
You’re enjoying a yearly peak of energy this month, dear Leo, but a Lunar Eclipse on the 5th can stir up some excitement of the negative variety, at least on the surface of things. Although eclipses can be felt as unsettling, they are often remembered as blessings in disguise at a later date. This eclipse falls in your opposite sign, Aquarius, and thus your partnership sector. There may be some drama unfolding surrounding a significant other or the partnership itself, and emotions are running very high. Keep in mind that emotions are raw just now, although don’t dismiss any revelations that come now, either. With Venus in your privacy sector until the 26th, your confidence in love may not be strong, or you might find you’re holding back as you reassess your feelings. As well, you could find that you need to make some personal sacrifices for a partner. This is the last of a series of eclipses affecting you and your partnerships—an eclipse series that started in 2008. Venus enters your sign on the 26th. With the possible exception of the 26-27, when cosmic energies are rambunctious indeed, this shift is strong for your powers of attraction and personal magnetism. It’s a time when others are drawn to you quite naturally.
Virgo
Venus entered the sign of Cancer on July 31st, and will stay there until the 26th, stimulating your sector of friendships, dreams, hopes, and good will. Coincidentally, Mars enters Cancer (and the same sector) just a day before Venus leaves it, on the 25th. Although Cancer is a sentimental energy, the sector where it is found in your solar chart has a more progressive and individuated flavor to it. The desire for acceptance as you do your own thing is strong now when it comes to expressions of love. The first few weeks of August are “clean up†time for you—it’s a period of ridding yourself of psychic garbage, negative energies, and anything that is holding you back from achieving what you want. You require more rest and time to yourself for reflection. You’re hatching a new plan of action from the 20th, and by the 22nd, when the Sun enters your sign, you begin to feel more energized and confident. The 17-18 is a good time for coming together with a lover, and seeing eye to eye. The 25-27 is rocky, however, and shouldn’t be elected for important meetings or decisions. Avoid power games with a lover.
