Eros and Pluto: January 20-21/09

Early into the day on January 21st, 2009, Eros aligns with Pluto and Juno conjuncts retrograde Mercury, all in the sign of Capricorn.
With Eros in Capricorn, sexuality is intense but controlled. Pluto with Eros is controlling. There is a huge element of obsession on sexual and romantic levels with this Eros-Pluto conjunction. For anyone with this transit prominent in his/her chart (for example, on an angle or activating other personal points in early Capricorn, Aries, Cancer, or Libra), power struggles or sheer intensity of desire could figure strongly on the 20th-21st.
Juno aligned with retrograde Mercury in late Capricorn can point to revisiting relationship “issues”, either through conversation or purely in the mind (analyzing). Again, there is a theme of power struggles–Juno is all about “what’s fair” and the give-and-take in relationships. Also interesting to note is an opposition between Sappho and Chiron. With Sappho transits, truths can come to light in relationships, and her involvement with Chiron suggests to me that these can be unsettling ones!
In my life, when Eros and Sappho connect and activate personal points, conversations with a significant other have been intense and revealing–heart-wrenching at times, but ultimately “for the best”.
All in all, January 20-21 looks like an intense period for intimacy, particularly for those people whose natal charts (and composite charts with a significant other) are stimulated by these transits. Words between lovers could be wounding, but could also lead to new discoveries and greater understanding.
