Hi!

I just wanted to say something about Neptun-Sun opposition. I was a Neptunian person; my Neptun was in opposition with his Sun and Mars. Physical attraction was unique and powerfull (probably because we also had Sun trine Pluto and his Pluto squared my Sun).
And than I started to play with him- not intentional, not because I`m evil. More because I was scared and didn`t trust him...and he didn`t know what to think of me. My feelings ran hot and cold...
So, I agree with the fact that we know how to deceive people. I know I did...

But I`m curious to find out more about inconjuctions. You`ve said that is all about trust. His Neptune was in inconjuction with my Sun and Mars.

So, I would be grateful to you if you can write something about it.
I have definitely found myself in your article, :)!

I think that even with soft aspects Neptune issues can arise. Much of what you've written is similar to what I experience with someone. The person is a little older, so I don't have the aspects natally. Their Neptune is trine my Moon and Ascendant, sextile my Sun, Mercury and Saturn. This repeats in the composite, with Neptune sextile composite Sun/Mercury/Pluto.

I identify with most of this article. It is very hard to "pin down" what is going on. Sometimes I'm scared and I'll back off, and then he gets confused and backs off, and then I act cool even though I'm hurt, and then one of us will initiate delicate contact and we'll be fine again... and then it starts over. Ultimately, that sense of being unfulfilled is strong because I haven't felt so attached to someone for a long time and I don't want to get hurt, so I pretend NOT to be attached. I feel like there is a strong intuitive link, but I don't trust that is real either. I don't know where I stand sometimes because he is silent in odd ways (to me anyway), and it fuels the compulsion to protect my feelings.

So Neptune doesn't seem to be friendly in any case. Or at least, the potential for these problems could happen with any aspect, depending on the people.

Thank you for posting! Great advice for how to look at Neptune dynamics.

tx for the insights. pretty much right on target. among others, have my Neptune conjunct the Mars (4-degree orb) of my current significant other, while her Neptune widely conjuncts my Mars in the 5th in Sagittarius.

pretty much of a push-pull situation right now since my Neptune is also part of a grand trine in a kite with a Pluto conjunct my Leo AC opposing Venus.

to top it off, our charts are flipped over -- on both axes !

have been using, btw, this blog and your main site as a resource for understanding and dealing with my current very consuming situation so thanks again. truly & deeply.

Marga,

I love your site, Astropost--it's packed with examples, and that's why I listed it in the links. It's true that Neptune has a romantic effect. In terms of famous couples, one couple stands out in my mind: the Brownings. Robert Browning's Neptune squared many of Elizabeth's planets. Their composite chart, though, didn't repeat this pattern. There is also Marie and Pierre Curie, on the other side, who had quite a few harmonious Neptune aspects in synastry (conjunction, sextile, and trines).

I didn't mention the inconjunct in this post, and I am glad you brought it up, as it should also be considered a challenging aspect. Wherever there is an inconjunct, there's doubt, and Neptune issues have a lot to do with belief and trust. So, there can be an ongoing doubt undermining confidence in one another or in the relationship with the inconjunct.

Hi Ann, I love this article and I will recommend it to my readers. Recently I wrote about Sun inconjunct Neptune (natal, progression and synastry) and I had two examples of 'deceited' women (one of them: Maria Callas who's Sun is inconjunct the Neptune of the man who broke her heart). I wonder if there are also 'happy ever after'-examples (and I am still searching for them...:). Neptune has a romantic effect and the most romantic stories in history are (most often) sad stories. (in the end).

Thanks for your article!

Ann,

Depending on the personality, Neptune people could feel like they are walking on eggshells, afraid to burst their partner's bubble, for example. They could be feeling hooked on their partner, addicted to the adulation, yet uneasy because they sense they have a role to play, or a script to follow. They could be feeling overwhelmed or powerless, possibly misunderstood. They might be frustrated that they can't seem to be truthful without consequences, without hurting their partner.

Yes, there is definitely a difference between oppositions and squares. Squares tend to create ongoing tension, mini crises, drama, and a need to prove something to one another instead of a desire to meet each other halfway. Oppositions at least feel like there can be some resolve to the conflict, there's a give and take, and there seems to be a promise of a middle ground, even if it might often be just out of reach.

hitchhiker, that's exactly it, that you can't force anything. There can be a lot of game-playing with Neptune, and attempts to win a person's favor by trying to manipulate them into staying or coming back. But even if those games "succeed", it's not going to feel good. There's not much to do if one party wants out, except to do whatever you can to accept it and not let it hang over you, draining you of positive energy. There's the expression "the best revenge is living well", which totally makes sense. We don't want to treat people like businesses, but let's face it, if a failing business or project is taking up most of our time, and every effort to turn it around meets with failure, there will be a point at which we have to cut our losses and put our efforts into something else. It's not easy to give up on something or someone that we believed in, but sometimes it has to be done. Chasing answers is natural for some, but I think that in many cases with Neptune, even if we get answers, they aren't going to be satisfying!

How does the Neptunian person feel about the relationship? You spoke a lot about how the personal planet felt. I was wondering because the person I have interest for Venus is opposing my Neptune and I do feel The they are deceived by who I really am as if they cant come to accept the cold hard truth which would hurt them.

My Venus is also conjunction my Neptune.

I know some times you need to see the whole chart so I am trying to keep this as general as possible. You spoke of squares but not opposing. So does opposing in this case (Venus-Neptune) have the same effect but less/more amount of tension? I noticed my squares cause tension versus the opposition caused a pull or two sided kind of feel. So I figured the square relationship would be much different from the opposing relationship but maybe not? I would like to hear what you have to say on this.
