Scorpio in 2010

Many opportunities for fun and games, recreation, romance, and entertainment arise in 2010 with Jupiter, the planet of increase and abundance, traveling through your romance and pleasure sector much of the year.

Last year, many of you were building your inner confidence and filling your wells, so to speak. This year, you are more psychically ready and open to share it with others. New ways to have fun, or possibly new hobbies, enter your life now–or you might be noticing these avenues more now. Love and romance may enter your life or current love relationships might be enhanced with good humor and warmth; and social engagements are likely to abound. For singles, meeting a special person is highly likely, although it is not necessarily a person who is “partnership material”. Jupiter is good for bringing opportunities, but is also notorious for sometimes bringing too much of any one thing. For some of you, there could be more suitors than you can reasonably handle! For others, your attention to personal pleasure and fun could be seeping into the time you know you should be spending on other, less leisurely tasks. Troubles fitting in your great need for pleasure and romance are likely this year, in fact, because Neptune, the dreamy and obscure planet that rules your romance and pleasure sector, is often challenged by Saturn, reminding you of your responsibilities.

Your openness to enjoying yourself and enjoying more casual relationships now can make 2010 an unforgettably pleasurable one.

Nevertheless, responsibilities and possibly pressures are part of your life this year. The problem doesn’t seem to be in the area of your personality and manner of expressing yourself, as these things are quite excellent now. In fact, you are expressing yourself with such ease, panache, and charm that it would be hard to talk about problems in getting your point across. It’s more about outside pressures this year, as well as problems from the past–things that were left undone and now need your attention.

Venus (the planetary ruler of your partnership sector) is retrograde this year from October 8-November 18, which affects all of us in general, mainly in the areas of love and finances. These matters are not straightforward during this period, and it is a time for reviewing our attitudes rather than forging ahead boldly into new love relationships or financial projects. Venus retrograde cycles always have more impact on you when it comes to relationships and love because Venus rules your partnership sector. This time around is sort of a “double whammy” because, for most of the retrograde cycle, Venus is occupying your sign. This is somewhat unusual, because whenever Venus occupies your sign, you tend to enjoy special attention from a partner–a partner is generally on the same page as you, or at the very least, has your best interests at heart. You have the upper hand in love when Venus works her way through Scorpio. But from October 8-November 8, Venus is retrograde and that typically points to some cooling off on the part of your partner or your love relationships in general. So for this period of time, you and a partner might both be going through a period of review or confusion. A partner might appear to be very much in your corner, but could be giving off mixed signals. The good news is that Venus will occupy the sign of Scorpio for an extended period of time in the latter part of the year, and you are likely to enjoy the attention as well as the time to get more comfortable in your own skin.

The Mars retrograde that is with us at the beginning of 2010 up until March 10th is probably quite intense for you as well since Mars is a co-ruler of yours and is in a sign (Leo) that is at odds with (square to) your sign. Problems with work are likely during this cycle, and your love life might take a second seat to the personal and professional concerns you have during this period. You might also be giving off mixed signals.

Speaking of retrograde cycles, there are four Mercury retrograde periods this year, and there is one of them that more directly impacts your love life: From April 18-May 11, Mercury retrogrades in your partnership sector, and this can slow down relationship matters (or formal negotiations if applicable), ultimately so that you have more time to work them through and to approach them from a different perspective. However, it can be uncomfortable for some while it’s happening. Always during a Mercury retrograde cycle, giving others space and trying not to put too much weight into words chosen to express ourselves to one another will help.

Jupiter aligns with Uranus in your romance sector in September, and this can bring sudden and exciting changes to your romantic life. It can also work on a different level and have to do with creative opportunities and/or financial windfalls. While Uranus can bring events that are jarring and upsetting, because Uranus and Jupiter are, at that time, in harmony with your Sun, the events are likely to be pleasurable, if unexpected.

Your ruling planet, Pluto, is very active this year, aligning with an eclipse in June and forming a tense T-square with Saturn, Uranus, and Jupiter in 2010. Many of you are likely to be preoccupied with inner dramas and a partner will ideally give you the space and understanding to deal with these inner changes.

Saturn in your twelfth house much of the year generally suggests that you are stricter in your spiritual life. For some of you, you might be a little less tolerant of a partner’s (or potential partner’s) transgressions.

Eros, the god of erotic love, harmonizes with your sign from your romance sector from January 1-8, and is in your sign from September 15-October 29. Your powers of attraction run very high during this cycle, but more in terms of you going after what you want than waiting for things to come to you. Sexual activity may be more frequent than usual. An impassioned attitude in general is with you. A more amorous time for a partner occurs when Eros is in Taurus, from February 18-March 25.

Venus and Mars both occupy the sign of Scorpio from September 15-October 29–the same time period for Eros’ travels through your sign! While Venus is retrograde for part of this time, overall, it’s a smoldering combination for love, sex, and romance! Also note that in the weeks surrounding September 18, when Jupiter and Uranus align in your romance sector, your love life is likely to excite and surprise you.

Key Periods in 2010:

From December 20, 2009 to March 2010, your co-ruler, Mars, is retrograde, signaling a period of introspection and reflection, when you might be giving out confusing signals to a lover.

February 11-March 7, however, is a playful, lighthearted, and magnetic period for love, particularly for casual love affairs. Your powers of attraction run high. Love comes to you rather than your having to pursue it. Best days during this opportunity period are February 16 and 27-28. Romantic surprises are likely around March 3.

From April 1-25, a partnership is warm, loving, and especially pleasurable.

From April 25-May 20, you attract others like bee to honey with a mysterious, sensual aura that surrounds you. This is a period of the year that is most conducive to erotic pleasure and magnetism.

September 15-October 8 is a period in which your powers of attraction run very high, but more in terms of you going after what you want than waiting for things to come to you. Sexual activity may be more frequent than usual. An impassioned attitude in general is with you.

October 8-November 18 is the Venus retrograde period. Don’t make any major decisions about love (and finances) during this cycle.

However, from September 8-November 8, and then from November 30-December 31, Venus is in your sign. This is a time when the world seems to be speaking, or at least appreciating, your “love language”.
