Capricorn

You begin the year, dear Capricorn, in a position of power, with Venus in your sign (until January 18th). Your manner is more gracious, likable, and approachable. However, Mercury is retrograde in your sign until January 15th. You may find that others are liking you from a distance, for example, but there is a part of you that is hard to read or understand. It could also mean that you are more prone to saying the wrong things, or simply that you’re frustrated by things like mechanical breakdowns and delayed or canceled engagements. Those who know you well will not be deeply miffed by any of it, but if you’re single and hoping to get close to someone, you should be aware that Mercury’s retrograde in your sign could cast a veil over matters, or complicate the mechanics of getting together.

An eclipse occurred on the very last day of 2009 and affects you in the first few months of 2010, at least. Those of you in a couple could find a surprise or drama coming from your partner, or there can be heightened emotions surrounding a partnership.

Mars retrograde from December 20-March 15 in your intimacy sector suggests that on some level, your enthusiasm for intimate and sharing matters may wane, perhaps due to some problems, complications, or setbacks in these areas of life. Joint financial projects or initiatives may stall, or you could find that you are less confident about expressing yourself in personal ways. A lover or yourself may behave in an especially intense or obsessive manner. Refocus, backtracking, and review become necessary and recommended now.

On January 15th, Mercury turns direct again AND a Solar Eclipse occurs in your sign. This suggests some kind of new beginning for you on a personal level. While it’s unlikely to occur directly on that date, the weeks following it are stellar for you and your personal magnetism and influence. This Solar Eclipse is aligned quite tightly with attractive Venus, and is supported also by electric Uranus. It signals a period of strength for you–and remember that the effects of a Solar Eclipse last for up to 6 months.

Eclipses this year affect you quite personally. As already mentioned, a Solar Eclipse in your sign occurs on January 15, and a Lunar Eclipse occurred in your partnership sector on December 31st, 2009, continuing to affect you in the first few months of the year. You will be dealing with issues surrounding independence versus dependence. Partnerships may be tested, but there is nothing to fear if the relationship is strong. The seventh house represents an important one-to-one relationship–a marriage partner, significant other, business partner, or an adversary. It’s time to strike a balance between your own needs and those of a significant other. It’s time to compromise and negotiate. In June, a Lunar Eclipse occurs in your sign, signaling that it’s time to change your image or redefine your personality in some manner. Finding a balance between autonomy and dependence is what this eclipse is about for you. Your emotions are on your sleeve. It is a good time to put your needs first, but doing so with respect for others will take you further. Whether you can succeed as a leader is “tested” right now. Then, a Solar Eclipse occurs in your partnership sector in July! you are called upon to strike a balance between relationship and self. In 2010, issues of personal courage, confidence, and independence come to the fore. Basically, you will be learning to stand on your own two feet! Some of you are being tested, so to speak, and might be dealing with betrayals or other intense experiences that get you more deeply in touch with yourself and your needs. You are learning this year to get more control over your life, and it is not without its challenges. As your energy fluctuates and you go through many personal ups and downs, partners need to be patient and understanding with you. Career is also very demanding of your energies these days!

There are 4 Mercury retrograde periods in 2010, and 3 of them impact you and your love life directly. From December 26/2009 – January 15/2010 and then December 10-18/2010, Mercury retrograde in your sign suggests some recoiling, rethinking, and revising on your part. During these periods, others might find you distant. Be careful not to miscommunicate your intentions, but do take time to rethink your plans. From April 18-May 11, a lover could be distant and less communicative, or a love affair could slow down. Give a lover some space and time to think.

Eros, the god of erotic love, harmonizes with your sign from your romance sector from February 18-March 25. Your powers of attraction run very high during this cycle, but more in terms of you going after what you want than waiting for things to come to you. Sexual activity may be more frequent than usual. An impassioned attitude in general is with you. A more amorous time for a partner occurs when Eros is in Cancer, from April 28-May 29.

Key Periods in 2010:

From January 1-18, Venus is in your sign and is a period in which you are especially charming and pleasant to be around. This is a time when the world seems to be speaking, or at least appreciating, your “love language”. It’s a period ripe with opportunity for attracting others, for turning on the charm, and for receiving positive feedback from partners or love interests. Love seems to come to you without the need for your pursuing it. January 11-15 is especially strong for personal magnetism and attraction.

On January 15th, a Solar Eclipse occurs in your sign and is aligned with Venus, the goddess of love. This signals the beginning of a 6 month period of strong personal charisma and influence, although it’s not without its challenges. There may be some prices to pay for this sudden attention.

January 1-June 7 is an  extended period of potentially increased sexual activity and active libido/intimate life with Mars in your intimacy sector. However, Mars is retrograde there until March 10th, and this can point to intimate complications but also the chance to learn loads about your intimate needs, fear of betrayal and loss, and about a partner on a deeper level.

March 31-April 25 is a playful, lighthearted, and magnetic period for love, particularly for casual love affairs. Your powers of attraction run high. Love comes to you rather than your having to pursue it. Best days during this opportunity period are April 4, 13, 17, and 23-24.
