Aquarius

Since late 2009, Mars has been retrograde in Leo, your opposing sign and the sign of your partnership sector. This retrograde continues until March 10th, 2010, and then Mars slowly picks up speed again, officially moving out of your partnership sector on June 7th. What does all of this mean? Essentially, you are learning much about gaining more courage and self-assertiveness in your relationships during the first half of the year, gaining confidence perhaps through trial and error. A partner may be distant during this period, as he/she sorts out feelings or personal matters, and the best way to deal with this is to avoid pushing. Be patient, but be there for your partner as well, if this is the case. Others might be experiencing problems communicating or asserting their needs in a partnership, or for singles, lack of opportunity to make a real connection.

It’s a strong period for discovering or re-discovering what it is you want from a significant other or a partnership in general. You will have plenty of time to work through these matters from March 10-June 7–even redo some things if need be. The challenges that you have been facing run deep. You are learning to be more courageous when it comes to asserting your needs, and this is a good thing!

For those of you who do begin a relationship while Mars (or Mercury or Venus) is retrograde, there is no need to panic. The only thing to do is to take it easy and avoid making sweeping decisions. All information is not yet ready or available at this time, and it’s best to take things slowly (or even at regular speed) until you and your new partner can sort out your feelings.

Those of you born January 21-February 1 will be enjoying a very stabilizing trine from Saturn, and this boosts your credibility, sense of responsibility, and practicality. This might not sound exceptionally sexy, but to many lovers and potential lovers, it can be very attractive.

Most of you are experiencing a strong desire to learn and grow mentally and spiritually, and you might find that you meet people through these pursuits, especially in the last week of July.

Those of you born late in the sign of Aquarius (February 14-19) may still be dealing with arguments with a partner (or ex) over money and/or sexuality and concepts of “ownership” this year, but these are passing. This is due to Saturn and Uranus briefly returning to your financial and intimacy sectors mid-year. You will be sorting out the contributions each partner is making to a relationship. For singles, Saturn here can bring some level of seriousness and a sense of responsibility to intimate matters. You won’t be taking sexual connections as casually, for example. There can be a feeling of loneliness as you may be longing for more from your sex life than what you are getting now, and this may be more of a quality issue than a quantity one, although either issue can be involved with Saturn here. There can be some difficulties satisfying the libido. Resolve of these matters will come in 2010, and many of you will be breathing a sigh of relief. Some of you will enjoy a nice feeling of freedom, sexually speaking.

Because Mercury rules your romance sector, its retrograde periods are significant to you and your love relationships. You could find casual relationships and dating issues are sluggish, challenging, or even moving “backwards” during these periods. They occur from December 26/2009-January 15/2010, April 18-May 11, August 20-September 12, and December 10-30. If a lover is distant during these periods, give him/her some space and don’t pressure. From August 20-September 12 in particular, while Mercury is retrograde in your intimacy sector, you should be cautious about making sweeping decisions, and should avoid serious conversations or decisions about your intimate relationship and/or about joint finances.

The Venus retrograde from October 8-November 18 affects everyone in general, mainly in the areas of love and finances, and its position by sign in your solar chart suggests that your intimate life may be involved from November 8-18. There could be misunderstandings in your sexual relationships, some distance or coolness, and/or regarding debts, loans, and shared finances. That said, this Venus retrograde period does not impact your love life as much as it does some other signs.

Eclipses this year, for the most part, do not directly impact your romantic life, with the exception of the December 21st one, which can bring tests and challenges to a casual love affair in the last week of the year, and then in the early months of 2011.

Both Venus and Mars move through your intimacy sector from July 11-29. This brings a strong opportunity for bringing more sizzle into your life. Especially exciting sexual/romantic experiences can occur now.

Eros, the god of erotic love, harmonizes with your sign from your romance sector from March 25-April 27. Your powers of attraction run very high during this cycle, but more in terms of you going after what you want than waiting for things to come to you. Sexual activity may be more frequent than usual. An impassioned attitude in general is with you.

Key Periods in 2010:

January 1-June 7 is an  extended period of fireworks for partnerships–sometimes stimulating, but for some it could be like open warfare! A partner could be rethinking matters, and could be distant or hard to understand. Let things be, give your partner space, and be patient. However, when Mars in your partnership sector begins to move forward after retrogradation, from March 10th, this energy is more positive. March 21-23 is very strong for improving close one-to-one committed relationships.

January 18-February 11 is a period in which you are especially charming and pleasant to be around. This is a time when the world seems to be speaking, or at least appreciating, your “love language”. It’s a period ripe with opportunity for attracting others, for turning on the charm, and for receiving positive
feedback from partners or love interests. Love seems to come to you without the need for your pursuing it. Better days during this period include January 22 and February 7 and 8.

April 25-May 20 is a playful, lighthearted, and magnetic period for love, particularly for casual love affairs. Your powers of attraction run high. Love comes to you rather than your having to pursue it. Best days during this opportunity period are May 6-7.

From June 14-July 10, a partnership is warm, loving, and especially pleasurable.

October 8-November 18 is the Venus retrograde period. Don’t make any major decisions about love (and finances) during this cycle.
