Horoscopes for 2009, with a focus on love, sex, relationships, and romance: Virgo

Virgo

2009 brings improved working conditions for most Virgos. Virgos born early in the sign (August 23-28) are enjoying more credibility this year. They are increasingly truer to themselves in their self-expression. Intense, fateful, and deep love affairs can develop for these early Virgos, or strengthening of current love ties. This is due to Pluto’s presence in early Capricorn–a fellow Earth sign–and its harmony with Virgo.

Virgos born September 8-22 are experiencing big changes this year. Saturn is conjuncting your Sun and Uranus is opposing it. The result is a real tug of war that can be expressed in a variety of ways. Increased responsibilities are likely. You could be taking yourself more seriously, and feeling a lot of pressure. Your worst enemy in 2009 is the tendency to be self-critical. Virgos are self-critical by nature, but Saturn’s influence makes this trait especially prominent. Keep your sense of humor! Release of this pressure is likely towards the end of October, when Saturn leaves your sign (with the exception of those born on September 21-22, who will continue to deal with this energy into 2010).

Saturn on your Sun can also bring love and romance to you, ironically enough. This is because Saturn rules your romance sector. Pressures and responsibilities notwithstanding, love, romance, fun, and hobbies are at the front of your mind in 2009.

While romantic relationships of a more casual nature tend to fare well this year, Uranus in your solar seventh house brings unstable energy to more committed relationships. Uranus has been traveling through your partnership sector for a few years now, so it’s not a new energy in your life, but for those of you born September 12-19 in particular, Uranian energies in your partnerships become very demanding in nature in 2009. Many of you are feeling strong urges to break free from your routine and to express yourselves in a freer manner. Conditions and responsibilities that you have previously tolerated or even enjoyed are now seen as overwhelming and restrictive. Inner changes and struggles occur quite dramatically in 2009, and if your outer world and the people around you are not changing along with you (which is more than likely!), you could feel extremely restless and tied down. You are likely questioning your life as it has been, and wondering if there is a whole lot more for you “somewhere out there”. There is an expression that applies here: “Don’t throw the baby out with the bath water”. In your attempts to make changes in your life, and to rid yourself of limiting conditions, you are prone to making hasty decisions and leaving behind circumstances, jobs, or people that you might one day miss. Recognize that your urge to rebel comes from a desire for more freedom and self-expression, and find ways to express yourself and your freedom that don’t completely upset the things you have worked hard on building to date. Also recognize that as you listen to a bruised or misbehaving ego, you are prone to ignoring your deepest emotions, and as a result you may sever ties that later leave you wanting. It is especially important to be aware of this “blind spot”.

Those of you looking for love are more likely to find prospective partners through work connections and/or health routines (the gym, for example).

A lunar eclipse in July suggests that a romantic affair may be tested. If love is true, there’s nothing to fear. The demands of your larger goals in life may have been eclipsing your pleasure-seeking activities, and this becomes glaringly apparent now. Also possible, your children may be going through their own changes and “stages”, and need more attention now.

The retrograde of Venus from March 6-April 17 is likely to affect everyone’s personal life in some way, but a little less so for you, with the exception of April 11-17 when Venus dips back into your partnership sector. Re-evaluating a partnership is in order then, but avoid making hasty decisions.

Eros activates romantic and partnering hotspots a good part of the year, suggesting strong erotic impulses and themes this year.

Key Periods in 2009:

January 3-February 3 is a strong period for committed relationships, whether it’s a time of strengthening an existing partnership or attracting a new one.

From January 17-March 9, Eros is in your romance sector, and your erotic impulses (as well as powers of attraction) run high.

Mercury retrograde in your romance sector, from January 21-February 1, however, can be sticky for love affairs. A lover may be distant or hard to understand for the time being.

From March 15-April 22, Mars activates your partnership sector, and while this can bring excitement to relationships, you could also be dealing with some suspiciousness and possibly angry scenarios. Because Venus is retrograde for much of this period, be cautious with how you handle your close personal relationships.

Towards the end of this period, in the days surrounding April 21, a nice reconciliation is possible.

Venus is in your sign from September 21-October 15. This is a time when the world seems to be speaking, or at least appreciating, your “love language”. It’s a period ripe with opportunity for attracting others, for turning on the charm, and for receiving positive feedback from partners or love interests. Love seems to come to you without the need for your pursuing it. Still, while Mercury is retrograde during this cycle, from September 21-29, watch for misunderstandings or changes of heart.

From December 25th forward, your charm is easy and natural. The last week of December is very strong for all things romantic and fun.
